Dot and Next:

Yes, the hearing loss is still a mystery to me as the ENT is not associating it w/the TN. I'm hoping NS can shed some light on that as its too coincedential (sp). The ringing in the ears, certain sounds still literally ANNOYING me...not just bothering me - but ANNOYING are the rustling of plastic bags, opening of sytrofoam lunch containers - simple things that are just driving me nuts. But yet I can't hear 100% someone talking face to face to me or watching TV - I have it on the highest volumn. So weird.

Thanks about the Lysine tip, used to use that in the summer as I live on the beach (yes in Chicago, we have some GREAT summers!) and use it then as I'm prone to sun blisters but totally forgot about that now! (What the pharma gave me is Lansinoh - so far so good).

CT and MRI have been read and been normal. Be interesting to see what the new doc sees.

Has anyone had neck pain, pain like a pinced nerve on one side of the neck - and not on the same side of the pain from TN? That started about 3 weeks ago and feels like I need to have my neck/back cracked.

Happy thoughts!

Hi all, hope you're doing well.

The head of Neurosurgery's office called this morning and I have an appt. for December 16th at 9a. Will keep you posted but I would ask that if you think of any questions I should be asking him, please advise. I was told by his office that he see's patients only on a qualified and extreme case base so......

Thank you - very helpful. I was wondering why my lips were swelling and peeling, not chapping per se, but it was driving me nuts. I've tried all Chapsticks, Burt's Bees Wax and Vaseline and I finally went to the pharmacist at CVS and she told me to use, of all things, a nipple cream that nursing mothers use that helps chafing. So far, it's been helping but I still look like the Joker due to the cuts on either side but I'm sure those will go away. But the pain has def. subsided. Yep, due to the Dilatin! Who would have thought all these meds and their side effects can wreak havoc on ones body.

Again, many HUGS and thanks and please, keep me posted on your progress and prognosis as well and I'll be in touch.

Happy Gorge Yourself Day! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your responses, very helpful. The hearing loss is a bit disheartening but at least the ENT said it won't progress. At least at this stage of my life.

I'm still 'bothered' by the attacks that I get, which have gone from almost 3x an hour to about 3x a day but when it does hit, my face looks like a contortioinist. Could be worse right?

Yes, I have heard that this could be a sign of MS as well and thankfully I haven't had anything too terribly resembling those symptoms.

However, I have noticed an annoying dry cough that just flares up where ever (most frequently on the bus which is kind of bother some because everyone around me thinks I'm 'sick' (think flu, swine flu) and can't get it to stop so I carry cough drops with me and water whichs seems to help. And yes, my eyes do water, but not at the corners, but rather at the outside - which I find weird!)

The head of NeuroSurgery has my MRI results and is reading them but unfortunately with next week being a short week....I'm giving him until the week of the 30th. I'd like to get in and see him by the end of December as I've met my deductible for the year and well, that would really help. Not to mention find out what the is going on.

Thanks again all for the feedback and well wishes. If you think of anything else, please let me know!

(I'm taking Dilantin and Hydrocodone for the pain, but not really working and the ENT was wondering why the ER gave me an Rx for Epilepsy!)

Benefits of warm lemon water
Posted: 11/14/2009 10:24:01 AM
I was watching The Doctors the other day and this came up. They did say that all of those 'gimmicky' detoxification pills and juices are worthless and to just let your body take it's course. That's what it's designed to do. It will eventually purifiy its self. (As you know with bowl movements, that's the toxins and you're cleansing yourself).

However, they did bring up pickle juice (gag) that some athletes drink after an intense workout, marathon, etc. But, it's not good for you due to the high concentration of sodium (duh).

Lemon or limes in water is always good for you - especially water - to rehydrate ones self....just don't over do it.

And thanks Physostegia, good advice as well!

Has anyone heard of this or had it? Any insight would be great.

I had it back in 2001 and it came back again in October 2009 and it's not going away. Been to the ER 2x already and have seen my regular Dr., a Neuro Science MD, ENT, Audioligist and now have to see the head of NeuroSurgery at NW here in Chicago.

Lost 30% of hearing in both ears but the ENT says it's nothing to do w/TN. I think otherwise, hence the need for the NS.

Have had 2 MRI's and a CST and it shows nothing. However the ENT did see a small white blip on the MRI but says it could be nothing but.....see the NS to be sure.

???

BTW: TN is unknown to many Dr's...including the Mayo Clinic and is something that normally happens in women over 50 (I'm not over 50 :) and is extremely painful. Imagine cleaning your ears out w/a Q-tip and it goes in too far and you have that sharp shooting, stabbing pain. Unfortunately, mine lasts longer than the 5 seconds. The attacks will stop you in your tracks.

We have a foosball table in our break room and there's a group of guys that play everyday during lunch from 12:30 - 1:00. Yes, they're friends so glad they got a kick out of me asking if they liked playing w/their blue balls rather than the red ones!

Laughter at my expense.....and as far as red goes..yeah, that was my face as I CRAWLED out of the break room.

Attraction Preferences
Posted: 6/14/2009 7:53:15 PM
Sexy - I agree w/you on the height issue, tho we may get blasted for that, I'm going to ask the men, would you date a woman that was heavier than you would normally date? I'm thinking no, so don't get upset when we don't want to date a man shorter than us.

Nothing like growing older and maturing to realize what your true "attraction" is. As I've grown older...and this is just my own personal experience....I've learned what I would like and want at the age of 45 is different than what I wanted at 25. My idea of love and BEING in love and someone IN love with me is much different. I know this seems that I'm missing the point of the post, but not really. The post was Attraction Preferences.

When I was young and naive, I wanted the young, tall valient man on the white horse to whisk me away to orgasmiville, forever and ever. And he would stay that way forever. Not to say that can't happen..........but.............

In my mid 40's now, I would still like to know that man may exist, but I'm more realistic and I'm content with the humorous, Sam Elliot, husky voice, gentleman that I've met, and still makes me feel like a woman.

We're all entitled to what we like and don't like, but as you grow older, (and OMG I never thought I would be saying this) you become more comfortable with what is really important to you as far as "attraction".

And let me tell you, it's not all about looks all the time. Show me a good heart, and YOU'RE my preference.

Good luck all!

SunnyMama, this truly was a heartbreaking story - and unfortunately, a REAL one. How one human (is that what he was?) can even THINK of doing something like that is inconceivable. I was reading the article in my local paper yesterday and had tears welling up in my eyes as soon as I heard the word 'threw'. No retaliation to him can amount to the pain and suffering that innocent child experienced.

As far as life in jail? When the other inmates know why he's there, I guarantee his 'life' will be shortlived and not a quick death. I'm not advocating 'eye for an eye'. Oh wait, in this circumstance, you damn betchya I am.

Animal.

TVs in bedrooms
Posted: 5/4/2009 5:55:40 PM
I do - have insomnia and yes, it helps me TRY and sleep. Some say having one is part of the problem but when we had a thunderstorm last summer that knocked out the electricty for 3 hours I thought I would jump out of my skin! Until I grabbed a candle and sat on the balcony and watched the rest of the storm on the lake.

However, I do still watch the news trying to fall asleep, until it's 4am and I notice Barney Fife is trying to load his gun w/the one bullet he's allowed!

I agree, having a TV in the bedroom is not the best idea, but for some of us, it helps.

Joe and Bob are sitting on a park bench . Joe says to Bob: I bet I can guess how old you are. Bob says no way, how?

Joe says, pull your pants down. Bob says no way, I'm in a park, I'm not going to do that! Joe says just do it!

Bob pulls his pants down and Joe says now grab your ankles. Bob says what, no way! Just do it says Joe!

Bob bends over and grabs his ankles and Joe says, you're 92! Bob says, how'd you know?!

Joe says:

You told me yesterday.

What is your worst habit?
Posted: 4/29/2009 5:19:54 PM
Leaving kitchen cabinets open. I remember I was living with someone YEARS ago and I'd walk into the kitchen and the silverware drawer would be open, or the cabinet to the dishes was open and I'd be like WTF - Jim, close the damn doors!

Only to find out it was ME doing this all along - and I STILL do it!

I know, stupid - but it drives me nuts that I do it! I'm trying to make a concerted effort to at least use my foot to close them if my hands are full :)

Teen girls using Welfare to have babies
Posted: 4/29/2009 4:48:26 PM
Annie O you're so right. Parents have lost the right to PUNISH their children, but not the right to PARENT them.

I live in a large city and take public transportation and these young kids - boys and girls alike - get on like they own the joint. If you try and reprimand them (please turn down your iPod, get your feet off the seat where other's sit, can you please get up so the elderly woman w/a walker can sit down) - they roll their eyes at you and laugh. If I did that when I was their age, I would have a firm grip on my arm ripping me out of my seat and told to stand - and then apologize! That's part of PARENTING.

But that's not the issue here. It's young girls getting pregnant - lest we forget it takes a BOY to do that! (Unless I flunked sex ed) So now we have 2 sets of parents - not parenting.

Whoever said above that these kids are not educated enough to know what their doing (sorry, not scrolling up again to see who) is dead wrong! They know exactly what they're doing and what the consequences are. They know because their mama did it, their friends are doing it - it's cyclical. They're TAUGHT that.

I just paid my real estate taxes in March. 90% of my taxes go to the schools in my district. I can't have kids - nor will I ever. Yet I'm paying for someone - I'm not saying a teen - but someone to send their kids to school - why should I? No one else puts gas in my car for me that they don't drive. No one else buys groceries for my house they don't eat. No one else pays my electric bills or pays my mortgage.

Why should I support someone else? ESPECIALLY a young woman who's just out making babies for the sake of making babies?

How to rid of an annoying neighbor?
Posted: 4/26/2009 10:08:01 AM
You've been a good neighbor OP and have had enough, understandable. Does she not have any family around (apparently not, or ones that don't want to deal w/her either!)?

Bring her over a box of cookies - preferably laced w/marijunana and maybe she'll sleep it off :) and program 911 in her phone should she feel the need of an 'emergency' arise again.

Seriously tho, you need to nip it in the bud now and make it VERY CLEAR that unwanted guests/phone calls are not welcome - at any time - unless a dire MEDICAL emergency.

Is anyone going to a Tea Party on Tax Day?
Posted: 4/12/2009 5:41:18 PM
Afriend of mine sent the below.

There is a TEA PARTY going on somewhere near you next Wednesday. Check here to find out where in Illinois http://taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/illinois/

For all other states go here and click your state to see where they are happening on the far right under "Choose a State" http://taxdayteaparty.com/

April 15 is coming, let's stand up for the American spirit that represents the best part of our country the part where freedom allows for individual responsibility taking charge. Let's do it before private-public partnerships are forced on all of us and we become the America of Barry Sotorro's dream where we are all equal, equally poor, not only in monetary wealth but poor of our human God given freedom loving spirit as well.

I'm going to the one in my state, I just have to figure our my protest sign:

-give me liberty, not debt!
-next time read the bill
-ATTN WASHINGTON: you have run out of OUR money
-It’s time for a TEA Party and not with dainty little cups
-America’s citizens are TEA’D off
-free markets not free loaders
-going galt (smile)
-I am one of the 47.9% that said Nobama
-illegal taxation; poor representation
-got TEA?
-the few, the pissed, the taxpayers
(this is one of my faves-semper fi!)
-a woman is like a tea bag, you don’t know how strong she is until you put her in hot water
-change sucks, I want my money back
-outsource washington politicians
-party like its 1773!
-taxes? up mine? up yours!
-stimulate the economy, impeach obama
-I’ve seen enough obamanomics

And btw NOBUSHLOVER, what planet are you on? The taxes are LOWER? Not thinking so, at least here in Chitown.

Optimistically and Dance I have always appreciated your feedback and posts...thank you!

Dance: I love the fact that you feel that it would be so much easier if our gov't would get their crap together (if that's what I read correctly above), however, it's not going to happen any time soon as we both know. There is no 'enforcement' that wants to deal with it, let alone can handle it.

I dated an FBI agent/Special Ops Agent for 4 years here in a major city and he told me that even they could not, would not/have no desire to handle it because they felt out numbered. How sad is that? So what....our gov't and the people that we think are supposed to protect us are allowing crime to go on? And when I say crime, YES, I do mean Illegals coming into our country because our gov't is giving up because they're outnumbered?

Hey, I'm all for everyone living in harmony and living as one. But......do it legally - speak and learn our language fluently - just as other's would expect if we moved to their country...and forget all the red tape bullshit. We all know why other's move to our country. We're awesome! We have a lot to offer.

Please, just don't take advantage of it and we'll all get along.

While I choose not to argue the above facts, please remember there are many other things - and choices - we make that can kill us just as fast as smoking. My friend's father lived to be 96 - smoked 80 of those years and he didn't die from smoking. He actually died from a fall and hit his head 3 weeks ago.

As a smoker - not an everyday smoker but I will not use the term 'social smoker' because I smoke when I want - I have chose to buy my smokes OUTSIDE of the city I live in. I can drive 9 miles and pay 5.99 a pack as opposed to the 10.05 I just paid for a pack. The increase went into effect yesterday here in Chicago and as I was paying - the kind (sarcasm) woman behind the counter felt the need to let me know that that was just the beginning of the increases.

I'm not going to quit but will be more cautious as to where I purchase them.

Great post - sitting here w/a smile on my face. My older sister is actually getting together her 30 yr. class reunion from 8th grade and just sent me the class picture from 1970. Too funny!

Kick the can up in the summer.......Being grounded for not coming in from playing kick the can after dark!

Hearing Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones for the first time and falling in love w/Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.

Having parties when Mom and Dad were gone and filling the bathtub w/beer. And not getting caught.

Watching Creature Feature in the dark in the basement, lounging on bean bags.

Violent Temperament/Mood Swings
Posted: 3/15/2009 11:00:13 AM
Psst brought up a very good point about deleting your profile here. Not only would he be angry that you were on a 'dating site', but more so that you were discussing his violent, abusive, alcholic behavior and the impact it's having on you and your daughter.

No, we don't want to see you leave this site as it seems you are reaching out (and that's a good thing...you've realized there's a problem that needs to be addressed, now) and this may be you're only outlet to help you. You state that you live in a small community and with that comes everyone knowing your business. Perhaps you can go to your church - or a clergyman - or someone who can help guide you.

However, YOUR safety and your DAUGHTER's safety should be the first and foremost responsibility to you.

Please, take the necessary steps to GET OUT of this abusive relationship. You can't tell us that you're happy living in fear. I too have been in this situation and yes, it was HARD as hell to get out - but I had to - or I wouldn't be here able to type a post. I'd be 6ft under.

Take care and good luck Ash.

I wouldn't bother correctly learning the English language. A verb, a noun, adjective, etc...seem to be lost.

These days, you need to speak 4 or 5 different languages just to communicate with others it seems, and that's just in the U. S.

Cellphones in Public
Posted: 2/22/2009 1:37:13 PM
Let me share a couple things w/city folks: (mostly for those of us who take public transportation: bus or train)

1. Get off your damn cell phone when getting on a bus and you have to scramble for your bus card/fare while balancing a phone in you're ear. You've been waiting at a bus stop and know you're getting on it - have your damn fare ready and don't hold others up to scramble in your pocket or purse to pull it out!

2. I could care less who you screwed last night or how bad he/she was. I DON'T need to hear about it.

3. It's 6:30 in the morning and we're all still kinda (most of us anyway) waking up. Who the hell do you need to chit chat w/in your OUTSIDE voice that is so important that it can't wait until you get to your destination at this time of the morning?

4. Do NOT walk and talk or text walking down Michigan Avenue if you can NOT multi task....I will NOT move out of YOUR way because you're looking down while texting or trying to dial your phone - especially trying to cross a busy intersection where buses or cabs simply see you as a bug on their windshield if YOU'RE not paying attention! Or, you're not paying attention to where you're walking and I'm sorry, did you BUY this street and own it?

5. Do NOT lean over me because the bus or train is crowded and continue your innane conversation about your day.......I'm sorry Joe Blow had onions on his sub and stunk up the entire office but do I need to hear about it for 15 minutes while you're throwing your body into mine? (Now, if he's cute, that's another story :)

Oh, could go on and on about rude people and cell phones... and yes, I own one. I've used my cell about a dozen times during my commute and they were only to call the bossman to let him know that the bus/train was running late and I'd be there shortly. A 15 sec. call compared to a 15 min tyraid on BS is bit different. And yes, I HAVE asked people to SHUT UP on their phones and have been told "I'm sorry, F-you, mind your own business" and will continue to do so.

Common courtesy people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid Instructions!!!!!
Posted: 2/20/2009 5:06:58 PM
Tried Nytol and apparently it didn't work because as I was tossing and turning at 3 in the morning - lo and behold the ol commercial for Extenze comes on....you men know what I'm referring to.........and the 'warning' at the end says to consult a doctor if your erection lasts longer than 4 hours.

Warning for who??????????????? The man? The woman, dog, cat, bird, fish, tree, that is about to have 129 holes poked in them if it doesn't go down?

And um - DUH!

How to keep the perfume smell on you?
Posted: 2/20/2009 4:47:00 PM
Another good trick is to spray it on right after you've gotten out of the shower and you've toweled dry - not rubbed the water completely off your body.

Yes, spraying it in your hair does make it last a bit longer but like others have mentioned, does dry out your hair. You can simply spray into the palm of your hands and rub your hands together and then run thru your hair so you're not spraying DIRECTLY on your hair. Or, spray some on your comb and brush............

what about GUYS performing oral sex?

^^ Nothing like getting a burrito when you're going for the taco! LOL, sorry, but your analogy cracked me up! Never heard our 'nether regions' referred to a taco! You should have made a SuperBowl commercial out of that! Kidding bud, know what you're saying.

Awkward One Night Second Base

"No I did not give him a blowjob in the car or my bed."

Ok, then WHERE did this said BJ occur????

In a car or in a bar?
On the bed or on his head? (no pun intended)
Against the door or on the floor?
In the grass or up his ass?

Just curious.

There is no time limit on grieving. What you and your partner dreamt, felt and believed in together will always tug at your heart and you have every right to feel a sense of loss anytime you want.

I'm sorry your 'friends' can't feel your need to reach out and express your feelings but you're entitled to them - and they're very real.

Godspeed to you and your partner and may you heal in due time.

He found someone else after one date with me

Apparently Mikey didn't like it.

Sorry.

(As others have said, and I'm surprised the moderator hasn't deleted this thread, you shouldn't be posting someone's name - sorry he hurt you (????) - but you were wrong to do that, among other things)

If you had your choice to be able to fly or to be invisible
Posted: 2/6/2009 10:07:26 PM
LOL @ The Lone Haranguer!!!! "without my broom"!!! Darlin, that's the ONLY way to fly!

I would have to say invisible - flapping my arms all the time would be tiresome, good workout, but...em, no.

Yep, could hitch a ride on a magic carpet ride (slang for airplanes to some of you aero nuts) anytime being invisible and go where ever I wanted, be the first in line at Disney, the DMV, front row at rock concerts (hell, sneak behind the drummer and .......) sit in on King Richard's meetings (mayor in Chi) or other prominent authorities, etc.....

Oh the list is endless being invisible. Finding a love might be tough tho.

Good books

It's Only A Mountain by D ick and Rick Hoyt.

I openly cried and laughed on my bus rides to work in the morning. If you EVER feel like giving up, read and re-read this book!

Is there a reason for this? Have I been blocked for some reason that I can't post anything in a forum? I don't THINK I've offended anyone (ok, I know I haven't, I'm not that kind of person!).

Just curious.

Thanks!
