Will Seperateed Be Removed???
Posted: 5/22/2013 3:40:25 AM
I did a quick look. There's a vague memory that makes me what to say admin addressed this some time ago.
As the filter stands now it states: Married - (Blocks prefer not to say, married or living together) So at least you get some relief there.
It will be interesting to see what direction he decides to go here. I have seen some on here with very valid reasons for remaining separated. As others have stated in previous threads a lot depends on the entire picture, time, distance, etc. Others simply disregard the word separated entirely since it does still mean a legal bond.

Still have to wonder why the link (which I didn't know existed) appeared on my profile page and now its suddenly gone. Hmmmm.
Look at any profile while logged out of the dating side and it will appear on all profiles. (The ones not hidden of course.) Log in and it disappears. I believe it has been that way for almost forever.

Message Restrictions
Posted: 5/19/2013 10:27:03 PM
The reason is that the owners of this site have chosen to impose their personal beliefs upon everyone whether they agree or not.
And you have proof of this?
Just for starters, there is only one owner. In addition, if
he
, this site's owner, was so inclined to
impose
his
personal beliefs
upon everyone. Why would there be options available such as female seeking female, or male seeking male?
Consider that for a moment if you will.
Its called freedom of choice.
And a privately owned site owes you that because?
WHEN, they can and are very AWARE that they can restrict age.
And just what makes you believe all women are
very AWARE that they can restrict age
?
I agree that it is a profile option, for both men and women, but I don't recall ever seeing anything during the registration process that stated
Warning, not applying age restrictions to your profile could be hazardous to your health.
Making age limits a requirement on profiles would solve this. Forced age limits for being able to message is not the answer.
Add my voice to the users that are against this new feature, for whatever that is worth.

Message Restrictions
Posted: 5/19/2013 9:00:21 PM
I like to find other photographers to network with and have friends that are photography students or that are interested in photography as a hobby.
My thought for this new restriction is that Admin is trying to present this site as being more of a
Dating, Seeking Only Relationship
site, rather than a chat, hook up, IE, Face Book venue.
In short, looking for or finding other photographers to Network with is not what this site is hoping to accomplish. I believe that is also why the Talk/Email option was removed some time ago.

No sent mail = message not sent?
Posted: 5/13/2013 7:33:50 PM
yes, if a message isn't in your sent items, the intended recipient did not get it.
When placed in a specific time frame, I would agree with that.
I'm not looking for WHY it's not in my sent items.
The two can actually be related.
I am simply seeking confirmation that if the message does not show up in sent items, it means that it was not delivered.
For example, if you mean that you checked your sent message folder seconds after sending a message; Then yes, if it's not shown there then chances strongly favor the fact that it was never sent.
However, if you checked your sent message folder after some lapse of time to find your message not there, your chances of knowing a definitive answer to your question decreases significantly.

Testimonials Need To Be Screened
Posted: 5/11/2013 7:56:48 PM
Look only an idiot would make any judgements of a stranger based on a stupid testimonial on their profile.
Agreed, but I don't believe it is Profile Testimonials that the OP is questioning. As is often pointed out by certain members, reading comprehension really does matter.
From the OP.
At the bottom of
certain pages are testimonials of couples
meeting on this site.
Please notice the wording of the bolded portion above. Where have you ever seen a profile that included a testimonial from a
couple?
See also this in post 3, also from the OP.
I figured the testimonials are different from the ones sometimes seen on profiles.
Try clicking on the Help link, followed by the Love Story link and you will see exactly what the OP is referring to.
http://www.pof.com/success_v2.aspx
A testimonial can be just as bogus as the profile itself and no one is screening the profiles either really. HELLO???
Yet another false statement. Did you happen to miss the
Report
link found at the bottom of all profiles? Fake profiles and pictures are deleted here daily as a matter of record. Much of that surely due to the 42 or so million users
screening
profiles.

If they take lets say the 12 months cost - $90 do they take the $90 right away all at once
Yes
what if i decide to opt out lets say 5 months into it do i get the the money back for the 7 months i don't use
NO, you agree to pay the full amount the second you chose the 12 month package.
You need to calm down and rethink this tomorrow. That is my opinion.

From previous posts and opinions. No refunds are given, The system auto bills you until you finally opt out. Read and understand the fine print for your own benefit. Being brain dead and super tired means that is not is likely not the best time to make this decision. Most here don't ever decide to upgrade, regardless of their present or future condition. Presence of asbestos in my home. Help please.
Posted: 5/6/2013 6:08:41 PM
I guess I should have changed the title of my thread when I bumped it to my current issue.
Actually, you should have created an entirely new thread. Changing the title would not have accomplished your new goal. Posters are to respond to the OP. In your OP you state asbestos concerns about your neighbors house being demolished.
Your post 31 clearly demonstrates that, but asbestos concerns regarding your own house have nothing to do with your neighbors house. Although I do see why you are trying to tie the two together. But what you have actually done is high jack your own thread by creating two Opening Posts in one thread.

Why do smokers feel they can just throw their cigarette butts anywhere they want to?
Posted: 5/6/2013 3:21:41 PM
Smokers are weak, addicted aholes that don't even respect themselves.
Does that broad paintbrush include the former smoker and current United States President? If not, exactly when was he excluded, in your opinion, from being a weak, addicted ahole with no self respect?
http://www.caymanmama.com/wp-content/plugins/post_image2/images/image_3686.jpg
There's little doubt that if we knew
back then
what we have learned in recent years about the dangers of smoking, we might not even be having this conversation right now.
Using public funds to add more public use ashtrays might actually be portrayed as a government condoning smoking. While taking them away does help to add to the disposal problem. I'd be more in favor of enforcement along the lines of cleaning up after your dog laws. Yeah, you could get away with butt flicking for possibly a long time, but after having to write that first or second check?
Years ago a friend of mine received a ticket in NC for littering. A state cop wrote him up for throwing his butt out of his window. I don't recall the exact fine but it was a very expensive lesson.
I can see the next infomercial now.
Keep your butt in a butt buddy, not in the slammer! This butt buddy will hold an entire days worth of butts for only $19.95 plus S&H. BUT WAIT, call in the next 10 minutes and we'll send you a second butt buddy for
FREE
.
(Announcer lowers voice to add,
you just pay a small additional S&H fee
)
So put your butt in a buddy now, you'll be glad you did.

so I'm betting the two are related in any event.
Not taking that bet here, as I completely agree with that statement. But what am not so certain about is whether the end result was intended?
I'm 100% sure Markus' statement there is in no way related to this thread's subject
HawkingJr, I generally find your posts very informative and knowledgeable. But you would have been the last person on this site's claim of 40 million + users that I would have attributed to
Any
100% claim regarding this site.
A three month limit in regards to one's 'most likely list' makes complete sense. While a members 'Contact History' should include exactly that, a complete contact history.
The problem with the "Contact History" feature pure and simply is that they left off the multiple page links that it used to have before they updated the format.
Intentional or not is the only question I have.

Just a space for us to type a small sentence that relates to our day or what we're feeling/thinking in the moment.

How come I can see forums for Ireland, Testimonials (?), UK and Australia but nowhere else?

How come I can see forums for Ireland, Testimonials (?), UK and Australia but nowhere else?
From my understanding, listing Ireland, UK and Australia under the heading POF Worldwide was done to promote local usage. While it may appear that those forums are open to all, they are in fact for local posters only.
It was suggested years ago that the Testimonial forum be moved to the "Fun Stuff' area while adding the heading
Local forums only
listing the above three countries as well as Canada and the USA.

What happened to the smilies?
Posted: 4/1/2013 4:23:05 PM
Could someone email the list? Maybe to my message box? Please??? I won't tell.
I am not a
to this site but I can't help but feel that the list was removed per the owners request, or by his own actions. Too much over use, bandwidth, whatever reason the list was removed. While most all the codes still work, I have a funny feeling that if smilies started showing up again on mass throughout the forums the codes would be disabled.
As it stands now they only show up occasionally. Consider the recent events regarding the IE search becoming a paid feature. A very savvy computer person, some German highway guy, offered a work around, two actually if I remember correctly? Both loopholes were closed not long after being presented here.
There are some here that don't believe Admin bothers to read any of these forums any longer. Just because he doesn't post often is not an indication that he's not reading these posts.

That's different than what most or all of us are seeing. It's identical to the blank screen shown in your earlier post but without any boxed red X. I have even tried right clicking on the blank screen to see if some hidden URL may exist but nada.
When it happens on a main photo the horizontal line is pushed further to the left. At least that is what I see when it occurs. Refreshing brings up a new photo on occasion, sometimes after the first refresh, sometimes only after 4, 5 or more.

2012 NFL Predictions, Picks, Won / Loss Records
Posted: 3/26/2013 9:01:23 PM
I don't. Do you remember the approximate year?
That game was played on 12-13-92.
I am certain that many of us here believe any call that goes in favor of
Your
team is a good call
Although I do try hard to not be 100% prejudiced in favor of all bad calls. Whether they be in favor of my team or against a despised team. I am still not 100% certain that said play should have invoked the tuck rule. It was so long ago and my memory isn't what it used to be.
The clip below doesn't allow for multiple views or slow motion replays but I am certain at the time that I was
for joy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEbKh6juhvs
see the play here at the 4:20 mark.
The entire clip is very interesting in fact. I had no idea the song "Hail to the Redskins" apparently was involved in the creation of that
team. Note also some of the hits being delivered. How many of those would have cost some big molla if they happened today.

Steubenville rape case
Posted: 3/24/2013 9:14:24 AM
In order to keep a civilized society, blame must be assigned appropriately.
Which is why after getting hammered and involved in an accident on the way home. We now sue the bar and bartender, because, you know, you certainly can't expect an individual to be responsible for their own actions.
So.... if actions should result in consequences then: If a teenage girl drinks enough to pass out then she should expect to be raped while passed out.
I see the spin doctor is still in the house. There is no
should result
, actions
do
result in consequences. Not saying the consequences have to end up being a bad thing.
Being f*cked in the ass, without consent, while passed out is NOT a normal or expected consequence of drinking, ever..
I don't recall ever saying that it was an expected consequence, nor have I ever condoned the boys actions or animalistic behavior. But remove the alcohol and what would have happened? Did the girl increase her chances of something bad happening by getting falling down drunk, yes. Did she deserve what happened to her, no.
Many of you have likely seen this video.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/15/human-statue-punches-man-australia-video_n_2884576.html?ir=Weird+News
Now, leave out any opinions of weather or not this guy deserved a punch in the face. But if he had not been in his condition, drinking, would he still have gotten punched? I seriously doubt it.
If you get to the point where you are no longer in control of your own behavior, you have failed in your own personal responsibility.

Steubenville rape case
Posted: 3/23/2013 2:38:06 PM
The moral of this post I've quoted is
No, the real moral of the story is that
some
people don't believe personal accountability should even exist. I have never said that those boys weren't guilty of a crime. But the girl, in my opinion, shares some of the responsibility here as well. That's all I and a few others here have been saying. All actions result in consequences.
Now please feel free to spin that to your hearts pleasure.
she could have been drinking ice tea all night, and some boy could have given her a roofie
Kinda takes the
personal accountability
out of the picture, doesn't it?
and the same thing would have happened
And you know this to be a fact because? Change the actions, you likely change the consequences.
Thank you both for reminding me why I rarely post here.

other people with the same interests
I would suggest using advanced search. That allows you to set your parameters, age, distance etc. while also allowing for an interest. Clicking on your interest links will bring up all other profiles listing that interest, but it encompasses the entire user base. Not too useful, for instance, if you're looking for a biking friend and get options that are thousands of miles/km away.

Steubenville rape case
Posted: 3/22/2013 6:19:19 PM
It's not that alcohol didn't play a part, it's that the part it played is irrelevant.
In a perfect world I would agree with you.
In this case, the lesson you and others are sending is that "if the girl is falling down drunk, and you rape her, your responsibility it mitigated because she was drunk
Where did I ever say that?
Every time you or anyone brings up that her alcohol over-indulgence needs to be considered in some way, you are doing exactly what you consider is "indefensible", which is offering a defense for every boy who does what those boys did.
Meaning that she's given a pass for her alcohol induced behavior while that same pass doesn't apply to the males involved?
Personal, and Parental Responsibility, applies to all the persons involved in this case. That's the only reasoning I can see for why these boys were tried as juveniles.

Steubenville rape case
Posted: 3/22/2013 4:37:35 PM
Thanks for those links Hozo. While I wasn't raised in or near Steubenville , both my parents were, but on the Ohio side. I remember going there to visit my Grandmother many decades ago. The one and only image I still retain is that of all the laundry hanging on clothes lines to dry. All the white sheets colored a dingy yellow from the sulfur in the air. It was a coal town without doubt.
Alright, then, contantcoder, I will quote extensively from you and cite official sources, so you can proceed to cite your own, in order to back up your eloquently stated claims and breathless condescension.
Followed by
the 'majority of girls and women in that town' - your words exactly - 'would give anything to be raped in that position'.
If you are going to
quote extensively
, it would be wise to actually do so.
would
probably
give anything to be in the raped girl's position
Notice the difference?
Oh, let me think for you...could they have forcefully held her down and forcefully raped her...as is the case many a time.
Ridiculous remark. What those boys did is indefensible. I don't think anyone is arguing that. But to suggest that alcohol didn't play a part is ludicrous.

it was a fumble all along.
Disagree. As much as I hate to admit it, I believe that was the correct call
in accordance with the rule at that time.
It was simply a bad rule. Glad they finally got rid of it.
Tossing out a challenge flag too soon is also gone. Another rule that was just wrong in so many ways.
Official:
Ruling on the field is a touchdown.
Triggers automatic review
Coach:
I wish to challenge, he clearly did not have possession. Tosses red flag
Official:
You're challenging our ruling before we've even reviewed an automatically reviewed play!?
How dare you!
Result: Automatically reviewed play is now
automatically
NOT
reviewed
. Not to mention the yellow flag thrown against the coach who thru out the red challenge flag a bit too soon. Yeah, like that was doing everything possible to make certain they
got the call right
.
Lots of grumbling about this
leading with the crown on the helmet
rule as well. Too soon for any real opinions to be made, in my opinion
Seeing how the officials call this will be interesting, that's for certain.
This from ESPN news.
The most debate came with the crown of the helmet hits rule, which will affect running backs the most. As of Tuesday, the competition committee felt as though it was only one vote away from passing. After further discussion, the vote was 31-1 with the Cincinnati Bengals voting against.

Solution to race based search
Posted: 3/20/2013 8:31:22 AM
I took a peek and noticed a disturbing commonality that connects most of the entries
From what I am seeing, the only commonality is an interest in black guys. Replace black with white and you'll see profiles listing an interest in white guys. In fact, there's as many possible searches as there are Hyper-linked interests. Similar results when using biking, cooking, hiking etc. in lieu of black_guys. Notice the word
Interests
in the provided link. That would appear to be the basis used.

Mail bug
Posted: 3/13/2013 6:44:41 PM
I can't reply to any of my messages
Sounds as if you might be trying to reply to yourself, which you can't do because of your mail restrictions. Instead of using 'Reply', try using the 'Send Message' link directly from the person's profile.

Very revealing to say the least. I did watch all but about the last two or three minutes. That was when the credits started and the
purpose
ended.
Seems that on one side of the fence you have
independent
, well respected experts saying that the salmon fish farms are causing all sorts of havoc and destruction in the wild salmon population. While the other side of the fence is composed of well respected experts, mostly consisting of government paid employees. Spouting almost the exact opposite. (Wouldn't you just love to see the '
honest
books of all those salmon farms?)
Hmm, independent experts in this hand saying problem; Government experts in the other hand saying no problem. (Does the saying
Hi, I'm from the government. I'm here to help you
ring a bell?
I really enjoyed seeing the eagle drop the fish that finally allowed farm salmon testing to be done. What company would not want their product to be tested for possible harmful contamination? And for what reason?

About Emails In Your Profile
Posted: 2/23/2013 7:17:39 PM
Let us try this once again. After clicking the Report link you sill see this near the top of the page.
ATTENTION!
You can only report users based on the content of their Plentyoffish profile.
Reporting users because you don't like them or have silly disputes with them will result in your account being deleted.
And is it really a violation to advertise an alternative contact?
Clicking at the top of any forum will show you this.
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts141520.aspx
RULES GOVERNING THE ENTIRE SITE - BOTH DATING AND FORUMS
(The following rules apply everywhere, where they may be applicable)
9. For your safety - Absolutely, do not post any personal contact information that will directly lead someone to make off site contact with you.
Please consider for one moment that there are far too many potential violations for each to receive their own check off box. Hence the reason that "Other" exists with a means to expound.
Post 5, from a moderator by the way, has already answered your question.

Privacy Feature for Intimate Encounters
Posted: 2/22/2013 4:25:44 PM
I don't see being allowed to show pictures selectively has being something to benefit the entire site. I can understand your personal reasoning though, just don't see the upswing for the entire site.
would be cool if you could choose which users could not see you in the "viewed me" section
That feature already exists, albeit in a round about way. In edit profile click on NO where you are asked Allow users to see I have viewed their profiles. You won't show on any Viewed Me lists but can toggle to Yes when you see a profile where you would want to be shown.

Whats the best recourse of action to take
Guillotine or drawn and quartered are the two most preferred methods. For the squeamish, there's always the report user link found at the bottom of all profiles.
See
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts8997484.aspx
for more information. That thread may look familiar to you?
The
FAQ
inclusive thread has been MIA since an unfortunate event about a month or so ago. Typing
FAQ
into the search here will bring up all, or most all, of the specific threads that were once included there.

cant seem to be able to send a rose feature
Posted: 2/17/2013 6:03:26 PM
but no roses go through
See this near the bottom of your profile.
ubetitsgood has 0 roses available.
Roses are refreshed after 30 days. Use one, get a new one 30 days later. Two is the maximum allowed. (Unless paid members receive more? That I am not 100% certain about.)

BBW question vanishes and layout mucked up
Posted: 2/14/2013 4:56:50 PM
I'm in the same camp as the OP here. Greatly reduced 'Inbox' page while all the others seem fine. The top is also showing two green dots with Screen names, normal, and a third green dot without any name. Just a dot w/o any other information. I also have not answered any of the 'Update' questions but the BBW or few extra pounds query is no longer showing. The one word personality selection and second language language question are still showing.
Edit: I am also showing 8 photo's at the top of my inbox page. Two rows of four each where I'm pretty certain more than that used to show.
Double edit: Back to normal here. Guess there was some tweaking going on behind the curtain. (Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain) Seven dots with names now being displayed. Inbox displaying across the entire screen.

Need a Electrian....

It was was thin and white.
Hard to tell from my view exactly what you may have cut but if I were to venture a guess I would say they were both low voltage. The alarm horn
most
likely operates on 12v DC. Hence the reason your system can still function during a power outage. The wires to the garage door button(s) are also low voltage. Tell your ex to bring a couple feet of 18/2, 8 small (Orange) wire nuts and all should be good.
I am not familiar with electrical laws outside of a few US east coast states but class 2 wiring (low voltage) here does not require splices to be made in a junction box. Check with your local authority to be certain.

It the above doesn't solve it for you, check your spam mail folder. They sometimes find their own way there it seems.

Superbowl?
Posted: 2/7/2013 9:31:50 PM
One of the few Super Bowls that lived up to its hype. Only die-hard fans enjoy a one sided game, and only then when they're on the winning side.
I stayed here at home for this one. Complete control of the TV volume, low priced snacks, free, easy parking and exclusive bathroom privileges only a few steps removed from the most comfortable seat in the house. The best seat in the house for any sporting event is
truly in the house.
The sideline reporters really missed a great opportunity. Five seconds after the lights went out, I could hear Don Meredith crooning
Turn out the lights ........
The Party's over ..........
Many parts of the the electrical grid in the superdome was replaced after katrina. Modern staduims electrical grids have an more modern electrical grid design.
Not quite accurate. There are 0 parts of the
Electrical Grid
in any stadium, regardless of age. I think what you're wanting to say is that main incoming power lines were replaced after Katrina. See this for a basic diagram. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_power_transmission
There still seems to be some confusion as to the exact reason and location of the 'fault'. But with all that's at stake, expect some finger pointing before any blame, if any, is ever placed or accepted. If the 'fault' was in fact on the utility side, a stadium built tomorrow would have experienced the same results.

Problem with profile from forum side
Posted: 2/3/2013 5:51:00 AM
I noticed the same thing at some point Friday. All ages are 0, height <5' with all drop down boxes set to their default setting. Sounds as if the forum server and the dating servers are not playing well together. More behind the scenes tinkering is my guess.

Geographical Radius has changed, and NOT for the better....
Posted: 2/2/2013 12:35:47 AM
Now, I'm seeing photos of users from hundreds of miles away- how useless.
Most likely some site tweaking happening behind the curtain. Your profile, while I am signed out, currently show's your age at 0 and your height at <5'. Things should be back to normal shortly.

We owe Marcus a vote of thanks...

It is true that there is little information to support the concept that Markus started POF to help his fellow man to find "happiness"
Not exactly correct. Ever hear the old adage
actions speak louder than words?
I'll leave the comparisons between

and
now
up to you.

block certain user
Posted: 1/24/2013 10:33:17 PM
no, not a stalker.
I just want my privacy from him.
You have yet to explain how he has invaded your privacy. By your own admission, he hasn't written to you, nor added you as a favorite, or stalked you here. Is this possibly a person you once knew that you desire to have zero contact with in the future? Vague questions here will only result in vague answers. Mind reading is left to the experts.
