On the contrary I believe this setting is in no way presumptuous, it preserves ones privacy and a great deterrent for unsolicited mail. You will normally be contacted anyway if someone is interested, except of course if you have this filter on your profile, and the sender happens to be guilty of the same.

A first contact - rejection.. how do you handle it.. both giving and recieving.
Posted: 3/8/2008 9:48:34 AM
Funny PP.. thats Hilarious. Sob! sob! .. some of us will still be crying.

I have a feeling that a first rejection might also occur after the recipient sees a photograph or reads a thing or two of your interests on your profile, that they dislike. In a lot of cases these areas of dissent or lack of interest, would have NEVER BEEN MADE TRANSPARENT on their own profiles in the first place.

Another scenario, might just be, the images of person(s) being sought after (or dream't about), does not come close enough to what is offered in real time. Don't be suprised that some singles on POF, will forever stay single. Unless they start being real.

RESPONSE:!!
I normally respond with a thank you and best wishes. Surely there must be some 'Top Quality" fish out there, i just have to fine tune my angler techniques and skills.. Right?

Here ends my two pence.. hahaha.
BROWN EYED WOMAN; Will never reject you if I had received an offer.. ;-)..and please don't say I'm dreaming.. !!??

Dinosaurs vs Neophyte
Posted: 2/24/2008 10:24:55 AM
Just for a moment I thought, if we add up the years of policy experiences for the top five policy makers in the current US government. It definitely goes far beyond 100 years , under the leadership of a President with an MBA etc. we have the biggest budget deficit in history, US foreign policy is warped and distorted as ever. Foreign relations, and multilaterism has taken a nose dive and the economy!!!!.. guess we all know.
Makes me cynical and doubt the relevance of experience really. Frankly.. I'd go for a neophyte with sound judgement to;
-select and work with a team to address key issues and restore the nations credibility to the American people and the world
- unite the nation around essential concerns, like immigration, health care etc.
- strengthen our foreign relations etc.
The Dinosaurs in Politics and Military Uniform, can continue to give advise, that's were they belong.
There must be a chance for young fresh brains to lead and they can do so effectively.

how many here play the guitar

Got to agree with you..absolutely therapeutic and addictive..
Definitely not many ladies are here, and even more so a paradox, when you think of the guitar's gender in French and Spanish.

Hi not sure how soon or whether you will be able to read this soon. I play classical and will be great to swap. I am looking for more classical stuff from Miguel Llobert. Its hard getting scores. Some recordings by Antonio Carlos Jobim is also of interest. Also into Jazz and African acoustics.

My Fellow Americans
Posted: 10/18/2006 1:37:03 AM
Not sure whether reneging, is the word I will use to describe Chinese diplomacy. Besides this is subjective..really. If we look hard and deep within the resolution itself, there is a scope for member states to interprete components needing enforcement as considered appropriate to their national interests (first). We sing the same song here in North America and Canada, don't we?? Japan and South Korea might also react differently.

Never thought of retirement, untill I read your mail. Call it a wake up call. Lived overseas and worked abroad for several years. If cost savings, is the ONLY reason, why living overseas is contemplated, you may want to think this through again.

Cdn soldier killed in Kandahar: PARADIGM SHIFT AND PARALLELS.
Posted: 3/29/2006 9:07:47 PM
For about two or more years, I did UN humanitarian work in Afghanistan during the time of the TALIBANS and under more difficult circumstances. We have humanitarian workers who were killed during that period as well. The fight against poverty, sickness, malnutrition and other things which affect humanity, has no borders, particulaly for some of us citizens of Canada and ultimately citizens of the world, with a brotherhood among human beings. To support this work, one needs security and professionals who are trained to provide this, either within a multilateral or a bilateral framework. As a Canadian I am proud to see that we consider ourselves partners and part of the global struggle against, injustice, restoration of peace, fighting poverty and enhancement of economic growth and more..... I am glad that we are part of the global human struggle against these issues. Our fallen soldier, I believe were not just there because of Americans, they had a wider and bigger mission which was humane and just. We also need to keep that infocus. In todays, era of globalization it will be fool hardy to believe that our military should be for defending our great country and nothing more. For those who have been in policy making within the international fora, such a statement will be easily dismissed and snuffed at. Our beloved country CANADA, has embassies, bilateral and multilateral obligations and partnerships all over the world, the sooner we understand that obligations does not only start and end within the borders of Canada, the better. As for the family of the fallen soldier, we sympathize.. but continue to implore to prod-on to stay strong. Gods blessings and much more....

LOST.. and CORRUPTIBLES...
Posted: 3/17/2006 12:24:30 PM
LAZY BOY>> Unsure what you were insinuating on your last post, nonetheless, you will be suprised (or maybe not) to know that some and most of the people who fall for this scam are from Europe. Others from North America, Canada and even Asia. This is proven, no KIDDING..!!!;-). What does this make them "STUPID" or "CORRUPT"? For use of a better word, I will see them as EQUALLY CORRUPT perhaps at a greater measure and worse-off, even stupid. The quest to make quick bucks, "no matter what" drives them to the wolves and sharks, who are patiently lurking, preying and waiting.

Talk about incredible and UNBELIEVABLE corruptions..hey! "think of ENRON" and the other institutionalized forms, sugar coated and in carmouflaged colors, just right there in our backyard.!!!!!!

One thing though these actions are criminal and wrong, hence I'll recho and concur to your refrain... "Its incredible how stupid some people are to fall for this stuff in this day and age."

Cheers..

Noted the same here for the Malaysian entries. If you say all deleted to many criminals and users who do not follow the rules.
Would it not be appropriate to identify these rules or at least give a censure. ...
I have been with POF for over awhile and live in Canada, and one thing though, I am no criminal and neither I am aware of any rules broken, hence I am not sure whether what you have said can be applied across the board and to what I have also observed.

Please revert.

Mississauga: After.. Response to VIXEY..
Posted: 1/30/2006 4:17:28 AM
was there briefly, but it was really packed. True true VIXEY, I felt it was a great meet.. to establish potential contacts that one can nurture, if I were to use the word. I was there not really looking for a hookup, rather, to just meet some of the folks that i have been communicating with over the past few months. I was not dissappointed.. never, I think will definitely go to another POF.. Live just ten minutes from Sauga.. soo..

Interracial Dating-Just Curious
Posted: 11/30/2005 11:47:53 AM
Yours and others make an interesting reading. It may be necessary to note that there are several others out there with similar experiences directly and indirectly. I work with a multilateral agency and of African heritage and BLACK (if want of an identifiable color!). Have also lived and experienced what you are presumably trying to guard/protect your kids against. Wish you luck and every success.

If we believe that just being with our own kind, or rather compartmentalize our being and associates, based on color will lead to less trouble (in this present globalized world) I think we are just living in a world of illusion. And who says racism is just about skin color? I am still trying to figure out what the color of the Jews were, for them to be persecuted so horribly or even the Palestinians or even the blacks and Indians etc.. I presently work in Asia, and I see this all the time and have developed my own way of handling these issues (thanks to good parentage and guidance). Frankly, as someone born into a huge family of interracial cousins, nieces, nephews and kids, who have also experienced these, I would rather propose the converse, i.e rather than try to build protectionist fifedoms for our family, that we approach this sensibly with some education, cousel and mentoring, so our kids understand that we live and must be part a diverse world no matter what! That we can always choose our associates (as a matter of personal preference and choice), but that this should not and does not make others of a different pigmentation.. lesser of persons either.

There was pathetic incident once and thought I'd mention this, although it may not necessarily relate to you. But it does bring out the risks and self inflicted damages that can occur, when one grows up believing and seeing the world and its people in just black and white terms. Perhaps, if we understand that what we even percieve as "white" is itself a "masaala" of various pigmentation would help.

" In apartheid South Africa, we had an interesting scenario once, were, dogs are on heat, and naturally and instinctively they crossed the color divide and mated. The result, the owner from the white neighbourhood, was so furious, he immediately shot his beloved family pet, once he got to know about it. Now this is what, seeing the world in black and white or colored terms does to SOME people. The risks are also there when our children are nutured in this way." For me I am openminded, about who I date. Frankly just being white, pink or blue or masaala, cannot just be the basis of an attraction for me and my family. Rather a combination of personalities, talent, and the energy that makes one feel good and comfortable to strike a connection can be a basis.

At times, we also forget that the INTERRACIAL differences exists within every racial group, whites, blacks, pinks, rednecks, Asians or whatever combination that we have. Hence can also be INTRARRACIAL. I just hope that we can understand that as we date, despite our inclination and perception on color or race, beneath it all we are still humans, and the elements that make us humans is whats is most important and what will unite us as beings.

KATRINA...SHOWING AMERICA'S RACISM?
Posted: 9/10/2005 1:13:58 AM
DOES IT SHOW AMERICA'S RACISM> YES .... ABSOLUTELY. Seems ridiculous that we are actually shying away from this fact.

IS THIS IT MAIN REASON FOR THE DEMISE OF THE FOLKS FROM NEW ORLEANS? - NO.

What IS IT THEN > It is a bit of both compounded by other social issues e.g Poverty.

Can you guess what the response should this happen in Orange County?
