Interracial Dating....

I have a permanent t-shirt as well, my son is 11 years old. Although he has been teased by both races, I am white and his dad is black, he is a strong young man who doesn't let other people determine his outlook on life. I also have a daughter who is white, but was raised by a black man. She will be the first to tell someone off, in her own polite way, if they insult her or her brother. My family threw a fit when they found out my son was bi-racial, because they thought he would not have the same opportunities as his sister, but one thing I have come to realize, and have spent their entire life telling them, is that people make their own opportunities, and if you want something bad enough reach for it.
I think too many people care what society says. Why should anyone dictate to me or anyone else how we should live our lives...who we can claim as family. It is stereotyping.
I have taken the name calling myself, and I don't care...I have taught my children to know and understand that its not about cultural sensitivity...its about humanity. Treat each person how you want to be treated. It is ok for my son to express how he feels. I have been a white n*****, a snow bunny, and everything else you can image, but he sees that it doesn't affect me, and he doesn't let someone else's ignorance affect him either.
I say, date who you want to. Love the one who loves you and to hell with the rest of them. | | | |
