Contraception Pill Strictures Are Eased by a Judge

Raxarsr-
It would be great if every child had a parent(s) whom they felt they could go to and talk to about sex alas not everyone does.. of course if you have that kind of relationship with your kids then maybe as a parent you would have already had the "talk" with the child and would go and take him/her in to get the proper contraceptive---- but wait certain beliefs do not believe in birth control--- so what is poor little Suzie to do if she decides to have sex- trust in a condom alone? She cant go to mom or dad because its against their beliefs and would catch h**l . Before you say it yes abstinence would be the proper thing to do but how many teens - hell how many adults do the right thing when the hormones are a flowing?
Just my 0.02 cents , not an attack on you Raxarsr.

Wow,
This topic could easily be argued from both sides, I tend to agree with the take care of our own first opinion, and could make a not at all nice comment on those who adopt children from other countries and bring to our country, note it is a nice/noble thing to do --however the amount of money spent flying to say china and paying the fees, ect ect. How many children could have been helped here (note I have no information that they do not put that same amount into children’s centers here)?
I agree that in a perfect world we would help each other; however we do not live in a perfect world, do we? I am not rich , by some standards I am well off by others I am not even close, however and I am going to get flamed for this I am sure-- I have my own children and they have my priority as they are my dependents, it would be a considerate thing for me to help others it is NOT my personal responsibility, if I were rich I would like to think I would help others but I can understand someone with the attitude that they WORKED hard for there money and it (the money) is going to the immediate family. I would not fault them for that. As I believe in the mine before thane approach.

Whats wrong with America's education system...

Morning all, Just my 0.02 cents,
It has been a long time since high school for me, however one thing I remember is that the students who wanted to make good grades did, those who applied themselves at least passed. Those who didn't care--well, it reflected in their grades. This coming from a lazy c student.

"But they chose to do that, the homeless person didnt always choose that lifestyle"--
um let me think about that - drunks, drug addicts, ect- I will grant you that not ALL of them are there due to a fault of there own, however there are a lot of shelters for those who want to try to help themselves.
"why do they need to use such violence, carry threatening weapons or train to kill another human. Ok so you could say its for protection, there are many missionaries out there not trained in defense or given weapons like a soldier is".
Ok and there are many missionaries out there who are dead because of it as well- Here's a phrase for you "train for the worst- hope for the best" duh
--Iv heard the stories of US and British soldiers torturing people, raping women, bullying and terrorizing communities who wish to live in their own ways without interference from outside authorities.
Really and you heard this from whom?
Granted if you look long and hard enough you will find a bad apple in every barrel,
maybe the government in question should not ask for aid if the people of said country does not want it. Maybe you should watch -The raping of the Congo
My point is what the hell is a xmas card going to do for anyone?
Maybe boost their morale-?
Wow you are a cold, person.

To yna6-- A very good response to wildgreenwitch, much nicer then what I was thinking of saying. I think people like that should have to live where the "rights" they are accustomed to are taken away and they have to conform or be "punished" according to someone else's laws/customs--- then maybe they would consider it a positive calling rather then a negative.
FYI-Some of us enlisted out of a sense of duty to country.

GED vs High School Diploma
Posted:
11/5/2008 10:51:10 AM
I know quite a few people who got a GED because high school was not teaching at the level they were ready for and took the GED rather then waste the time in high school. One of which worked on 40 + million dollar aircraft, while getting his degree. Nor is he the only one to have taken a route similar to this that I know of. Sometimes the system fails and for whatever reason it is better for some in the long run to get a GED and progress then sit in high school and go stagnant . Granted this would depend on the individual and his/her circumstances.

Just to toss in an alternative- Job Core does a decent job of giving young adults a skill/trade as well as a High School Diploma you may want to look into that as a possibility.

HELP! How do i get rid of SNAKES inside my home!??

Have you had a lot of rain in your area? Snakes tend to shy away from people unless there is a reason for them to be there i.e. high ground due to weather, or a good food source. However that does not answer you question though I would go with previous posters and call a professional if you do not know how to diffenciate between venomous and non-venomous types.

I wish I new the answer to that one OP,
In response to ~Welder's Girl~ Pre nups like wills are broken all the time,
But I tend to believe that if someone marries a wealthy person and they are given the opportunity to go to school and make something of themselves and fail to seize the opportunity then o well, I’m not referring to those raising children- but truthfully if the are rich then she/he could get a nanny for a few hours a day a few days a week, I believe in child support but not supporting someone just because you were married for a while, she/ he can get a job. I’m sure to get flamed for that one but oh well.

Accountability/blame. What message are we sending to our youth?
Posted:
6/30/2008 8:46:05 AM
A lot of interesting views out there thanks to all who posted.
To itbelilolme: I concur in that yes there are indeed some "adults" who do indeed seem to be -shall we say ; lacking in the ability to make a decent decisive decision about something’s, as the case about the sleepover boyfriend. -(never happen in my house- at least I hope there is not a boyfriend out there who would be foolish enough to ask if he could stay the night with my daughter- call me old fashioned if you like)
as to "I still think if more parents stayed home and raised their kids then we would not have the problem we have with the teens of today". Yes and no - My job keeps me gone for long periods of time occasionally, however there are thousands of us whose children are not all bad even though the father/mother may be gone. I am curious if it is the parents being absent or the fact that when home they do not teach the basic right from wrong principles that were beaten- I mean taught to us as children?

Accountability/blame. What message are we sending to our youth?
Posted:

I was getting my vehicle repaired yesterday and as I was waiting in the lounge a news segment came on the television concerning the 17 teens that got pregnant. One of the other patrons made a comment about how the parents of the teens must be "awful". I respect everyone’s opinion (I try to, at least) however this trend to put the blame on the parents every time some child does a wrong is disturbing to me because rather then accept that people: adults as well as children make mistakes and teaching them to learn from the mistake we are teaching them to blame someone else for it i.e. mommy didn’t love me enough and the like. I am not a stellar parent, I do my best and hope for the best and when my child makes a mistake I tell her why her choice may not have been a good one and then dole out the appropriate disciplinary action. So I guess my question is what is the general POF consensus on this; are we providing an easy way out to explain our kids behavior rather then dealing with the problem? I remember expressions such as- you play you pay, or you make your bed you lay in it. It seems to me that in this age we are to busy trying to explain actions rather then correcting them. Just an observation.

for the gun control people
Posted:

Wow,
lots of different opinions: just a few of my own, in response to RSwindol's A-E, I would agree, however in this day and age where a woman can get abducted at Wal-Mart in broad daylight, in view of a surveillance camera, put in the trunk of her car taken elsewhere and repeatedly raped ( happened in FL), and again in VA in front of a convenience store, I disagree after the proper training I would rather my properly licensed daughter have a firearm as harsh words are ineffective most times, nor would she point a weapon at anyone she wasn’t about to kill as I taught her to shoot to kill, (dead people don’t sue or come hunting for you when released from jail). Also an old cliché; if you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns- I truly believe that. If you don’t then you may consider all the readily accessible drugs, or the people being sold into captivity that the authorities can not stop. If they can not stop these crimes do you really think they can control who owns a weapon (gun) effectively?

They are great pets my father had one that lived 14 years-- one of a litter of 8 ( a good sized litter if you think about the size of their head and shoulders) all of which lived. One poster was correct when he mentioned cleaning-- one of the things judges (in a show) look out is how tight a spiral their tail makes-- dont know why. But my pop was having to take a q-tip to clean it almost daily, lance (the dog) did not suffer skin problems so much as hip displasia ( bloody websters did not have the spelling for that word so if its incorrect -shoot me), towards the end he was paying about 1000 a month to try to keep his quality of life up. But he would not change a thing -a great breed.

What do you feel about nursing homes?
Posted:
5/16/2008 12:21:20 PM
Just MHO but I believe each case differs: yes there are good long term care homes out there as well as bad ones- hence the need to research it prior to having someone you care for stay at one. There are plenty of legit reasons to have mom, dad, brother, or SO, in such a place.... you may be single and unable to care for them and still work, or they are in need of skilled care which you may be unable to provide - hence the need for nursing or subacute care homes.

Just my two cents:
To those who seem to think moving is even remotely the right thing to do. I disagree. All the tenents who live in the building pay rent, however that does not excuse the trash. Also if you paid to move every time you had to deal with some a**hole, or their kids, dog, bad parking, ect. ect.you would have to live in a cave. I wish I had a solution for you but you will have to see what works, myself I tend to ask nicely once then little bad things start to happen to their property, After all I am buying my house and if you or yours causes damage is it not just to have it taken out equally on your property esp. if the law will not or is not able to take care of it. However- having said that that does make me just as bad as them-- catch 22.

Ritalin = Unfair Academic Advantage?
Posted:

If used for the right reasons why let it bother you?
It also effects adults so if you dont know their history I wouldnt comment on it.
Ritalin is ABUSED for the stimulant effects it produces, including appetite suppression, wakefulness, euphoria, and increased focus and attentiveness.
Methylphenidate is a medication prescribed for individuals (usually children) who have attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which consists of a persistent pattern of abnormally high levels of activity, impulsivity, and/or inattention that is more frequently displayed and more severe than is typically observed in individuals with comparable levels of development. The pattern of behavior usually arises between the ages of 3 and 5, and is diagnosed during the elementary school years due to the child’s excessive locomotor activity, poor attention, and/or impulsive behavior. Most symptoms improve during adolescence or adulthood, but the disorder can persist or present in adults. It has been estimated that 3–7 percent of school-age children have ADHD. Methylphenidate also is occasionally prescribed for treating narcolepsy.(a quote from NIDA)
But if they are abusing it kick them out, course if someone else is doing something else that is illegal boot them to --lets be fair- pot, abusing alchool(why not they are prob. disturbing someone), meth, ect. ect.
I am curious as to how you are relating steriods (reactions very due to type and the way they are taken)to Methylphenidate .

Wow, this could start a serious chat about why some children act the way they do, I would have to say (and forgive me all you bleeding hearts out there) that if parents were allowed to disipline there kids (note I did not say abuse or beat to a bloody pulp) maybe they would learn that there are reprecussions for negative/ bad behavior, and that disrespect to an adult is grounds for a paddling. Sorry but I know a few children that time out and taking away the toys does not work for.

I have to agree with a previous post- one week out of the year that brings smiles to childrens faces, some familys together, or a drive around town to see the lights with the wife... a waste in your opinon maybe : mine- I think its worth it. Everbodys worried about being PC(look at those who want to ban ho ho ho due to a negative conatation attached to it- get real) or enviormentaly friendly(yet how many of those types use all biodegradable stuff- practice what you preach), or are Jewish, musilm, ect. ect. who do not belive in it. Note to self you dont have to spend thousands on super toys or gadgets- what was that silly expression - its the though that counts.

Ya know its interesting how people want to compare crashes between SUV's and cars, speaking for myself I drive within 10 mph of the speed limit in town and within 15 mph on the interstate, now while I admit to seeing SUV's and trucks speeding, I see a whole lot more smaller cars running 90+ mph , while on the cell phone or doing make up, so even if my driver & passenger airbags, steel posts in the doors, ABS, ect ect are not "safer" then a smaller car I bet those irresponsable speed demons notice my large gas guzzling, 18.2 mpg monster a lot quicker then they would a honda civic, or low vette. Just mho.

I own a 05 tahoe, I like it I paid for it and I really do not care what anyone else thinks about it- my comment is to those people who say that our SUVS tahe up to much room in the parking lot- have you looked at the smaller cars parked in the lots you are complaining about? Hmm double parked or one inch from the line- but they b*tch about it when they get a ding? I paid way to much for my mine and i park in lala land to keep the smaller less cared for cars from dinging me. As for all the people complaining about green house effect and envirorment--- how many of you have biodegradeable nonarosal cleaning supplys in you cubbards? Yeah I bet you do anyway let me get off my rant. but to th ot I have never backed in to anything nor anyone, i will admit to it being possable to not see little ones if they got back there without you seing them but i do not see it being a greater risk in an suv vrs a car. As any responceable driver should be aware of there surrounding area esp. when around childrens schools, (lets not get into idiots on there cell phones & driving when said people cant walk & chew gum at the same time).

So far I have seen a lot of females say this is a bad idea, and I supose it could be, but I guess it would depend on your definition of friendship.
I have lots of females I consider friends, I met them in yahoo game rooms playing gin, spades, dominoes, and texas hold em. We play games and chat, to me this is harmless but it keeps being said that if you share intimate conversations you are cheating....blah blah. Well IMHO I disagree, do I tell my wife ever time I add someone to my messenger list? Not. I do not have the need to, she has my password and half the time I leave it on and open anyway so is that cheating? Oh and yes she knows about my account here at POF before any of you mount your horses. I read the forums because I am killing time at work(also it sometimes helps me improve myself as a husband) , as well as seeing whats going on with other people out there because there is a lot of times my friends ask my opinon(and I use this word because I do not give advice) on stuff in there relationships. It seems like a lot of them just want an ear to vent to or a shoulder to cry on that wont judge or flame them with a holier then thou attitude. Hm now I can hear some of the responces to that ...Its not the same you arent meeting them, hmm but by their own definition about intimate conversations it is. So with this in mind how many of you have yahoo "friends"?

Wow so much read into a first date meal..
Been out of the dating game for so long my 2 cents is just my 2 cents lol.
I have to agree with the people who say ask her where she would like to go, and name some places, after all its the first date, do you know what she really likes?
I could take a date to a 4 star restaurant or a fast food joint it would not make that big a diffrence to me, that being said how can you judge the person by what they feel like at the moment? I guess I am just weird cause I just may feel like a burger & fries at that time but I dont think that says anything about me as a person as some have stated, I could eat junk food as often as I like due to my daily exercise routine, I think if u are worried about one meal impacting your shape then you are prob. not where you need to be anyway.
JMHO.

off topic....
I read the opinons of others and then sometimes wonder if some of these guys/gals are familiar with the word hypocrite? A lot of them are flaming this guy about VOWS, quoting till death do us part, sickness and health ect, and are taking the moral high ground, but low and behold look! There profiles state have children....hmmm so to me that means they either had kids and got a divorce(exempting widowers and such), or got pregnant out of wed lock... but these people want to take a moral high ground? Talk about throwing stones in a glass house.... ok done venting.
mac good luck, I wish you well

macbeth,
IMHO you do what you need to do to get through day to day life, I refuse to condem you for any action you may take.
My wife (of 17 years) is going to pass due to lupus, I know it as does she I love her more then i do anything else in the world, would I try to have any outside fling? No I wouldnt but thats me, as no one will every be able to replace her,(and as for those who want to flame me for being here p#ss off, I read the forums for entertainment while at work) however she would more then likely tell me to get a life,(shes like that) and I would say the same to her if it was me. I would rather be dead then take away from the qualitiy of her life, hence my living will, the choice has already been made. And from the attitude from some of these so called ladies I would rather do without that kind (no wonder they need help dating).
Everyone is entitled to there opinion and should be free to express it, but be adult enough to express the opinion constructively (promoting improvement or development
Best wishes for you and yours.
