A Nation of Inflation?

Can it happen here? I was in an office the other day and on the wall was a Zimbabwe 10 trillion dollar bill. When I asked about it the man said he was sending them to politicians in Washington. When I looked them up on the internet I found that Zimbabwe was printing 100 trillion dollar notes.
Zimbabwe prints $100 trillion notes
Press TV
Friday, Jan 16, 2009
Zimbabwe’s central bank has introduced a 100 trillion dollar note in the face of a hyperinflation that has paralyzed the economy.
State media announced the plans for the new 100,000,000,000,000 Zim-dollar bill on Friday.
The bank is introducing three other notes in trillion-dollar denominations of 10, 20 and 50, Harare-based Herald newspaper said.
The new family of bank notes was introduced to “ensure that the public has access to their money from banks,” the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe said in a statement quoted by the Herald.
The move comes just a week after the printing of billion-dollar bills which have since been rendered too small.
The last official estimate in July put inflation at a staggering 231 million percent, possibly standing at a much higher figure currently.
The economic crisis in the country which is currently under US and EU sanctions has virtually dismantled Zimbabwe’s health services, while the impoverished country suffers from chronic shortages of basic needs.

My Joke Thread.
Posted:
3/1/2009 6:00:02 PM
The doctor, after an examination, sighed and said, 'I've some bad news. You have cancer, and you'd best put your affairs in order."
The woman was shocked, but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting.
"Well daughter, we women celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things don't go so well. In this case, things aren't well. I have cancer. Let's head to the club and have a martini."
After 3 or 4 martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more martinis.
They were eventually approached by some of the woman's old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end. "I've been diagnosed with AIDS."
The friends were aghast, gave the woman their condolences and beat a hasty retreat.
After the friends left, the woman's daughter leaned over and whispered, "Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer, and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS! Why did you do that??"
"Because I don't want any of those ****es sleeping with your father after I'm gone."
And THAT, my friends, is what is called, Putting Your Affairs In Order.

If an individual is a hoarder, can they romantically attach to someone?

You can have a wonderful relationship with a hoarder, The old cameras, railroad magazines Model train accessories, were not allowed in public spaces. You have to accept that certain rooms are filled with stuff he will never use. If you threaten his hoard you will probably lose him or her. I got tired of walking around stuff that was laid up against a wall in the guest bedroom, I cleaned the room out...It was the beginning of the end

Which State?

I have always thought of America and Europe as safe. I went to Europe when I was 16. I loved the cultures and the art. I try to visit someplace new in the United States each year. This year I end up going back to favorites Saint Thomas in the Virgin Islands and Yellowstone National Park. Every so often I like to go to Arizona and visit the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and hike in the desert when the spring flowers are blooming. Then move on to Bryce and Zion National Parks.I was in New York for the tree lighting ceremony a few years back. It was wonderful. Las Vegas for the lights and glitter and gambling and the entertainment. I took a train in the spring one year down the west coast. It was lovely. New Orleans for Mardi Gras another must see. Colorado in winter for skiing or in the summer for hiking. I would recommend taking a train trip around the US. Getting on and off where you want to spend time.

I just came from calling hours. Several people in my hearing range said he looked good. He looked dead. He did not look good. Do you say or have you heard others say, he or she looked good? I am going to be cremated just so people can't say I look good.

I would not go immediately to get chipped
Welcome to the EvilBible.com Web Site
This web site is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible. For far too long priests and preachers have completely ignored the vicious criminal acts that the Bible promotes. The so called “God” of the Bible makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage, plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of unborn children. I have included references to the Biblical passages, so grab your Bible and follow along. You can also follow along with on-line Bibles such as BibleStudyTools.net or SkepticsAnnotatedBible.com.
It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”. For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60 cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value (Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of “all the living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen sheep, and asses” (Joshua 6). In Judges 21, He orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife! Just about every other page in the Old Testament has God killing somebody! In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered.
The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 and Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9).
This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person. Murder, rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by saying that some god says it’s OK. If more people would actually sit down and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself.
Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to go to heaven: "For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it." (Matthew 19:12 ASV) I don't know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.
The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and animal sacrifice.
And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus makes it perfectly clear: "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB) There are many more quotes on this topic at my "Do Not Ignore the Old Testament" web page.
I know that most Christians believe that God is a good and loving god, and wants people to do good things. I believe that most people want to do good things and behave morally. I also believe that many Christians haven’t really read the Bible, or just read certain passages in church. This is understandable, as the Bible is hard to read due to its archaic language and obscure references. Also many priests and preachers don’t like to read certain passages in the Bible because they present a message of hate not love.
If you follow the links on the left side of this page you will learn about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by priests and preachers. You can also discuss things related to this web site or religion and atheism in general at the EvilBible.com Discussion Forum.

I love to hike the Grand Canyon. The first time I was there we drove around and stopped at all the neat look out points and shopped. The next time I went we spent the night and I rode the Mules down to Bright Angle Falls. One of my goals is to raft the Grand Canyon. I like the north rim of the canyon because it has fewer tourists you step out from the trees to vistas that take your breath away. My favorite time for the Grand Canyon is between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

GED vs High School Diploma

I just read this this and thought it fit in this dicussion. A GED at 16 means the kid is smart.
Should Kids Be Able to Graduate After 10th Grade?
Print By KATHLEEN KINGSBURY Kathleen Kingsbury – Fri Nov 7, 4:50 am ETHigh school sophomores should be ready for college by age 16. That's the message from New Hampshire education officials, who announced plans Oct. 30 for a new rigorous state board of exams to be given to 10th graders. Students who pass will be prepared to move on to the state's community or technical colleges, skipping the last two years of high school. (See pictures of teens and how they would vote.)
Once implemented, the new battery of tests is expected to guarantee higher competency in core school subjects, lower dropout rates and free up millions of education dollars. Students may take the exams - which are modeled on existing AP or International Baccalaureate tests - as many times as they need to pass. Or those who want to go to a prestigious university may stay and finish the final two years, taking a second, more difficult set of exams senior year. "We want students who are ready to be able to move on to their higher education," says Lyonel Tracy, New Hampshire's Commissioner for Education. "And then we can focus even more attention on those kids who need more help to get there."
But can less schooling really lead to better-prepared students at an earlier age? Outside of the U.S., it's actually a far less radical notion than it sounds. Dozens of industrialized countries expect students to be college-ready by age 16, and those teenagers consistently outperform their American peers on international standardized tests. (See pictures of the college dorm room's evolution.)
With its new assessment system, New Hampshire is adopting a key recommendation of a blue-ribbon panel called the New Commission on Skills of the American Workforce. In 2006, the group issued a report called Tough Choices or Tough Times , a blueprint for how it believes the U.S. must dramatically overhaul education policies in order to maintain a globally competitive economy. "Forty years ago, the United States had the best educated workforce in the world," says William Brock, one of the commission's chairs and a former U.S. Secretary of Labor. "Now we're No. 10 and falling."
As more and more jobs head overseas, Brock and others on the commission can't stress enough how dire the need is for educational reform. "The nation is running out of time," he says.
New Hampshire's announcement comes as Utah and Massachusetts declared that they, too, plan to enact some of the commission's other proposals, such as universal Pre-K and better teacher pay and training. Still more states are expected to sign on in December. And the largest teacher union in the U.S., the National Education Association, is encouraging its affiliates to support such efforts.
Some reform advocates would like to see the report's testing proposals replace current No Child Left Behind legislation. "It makes accountability much more meaningful by stressing critical thinking and true mastery," says Tracy.
No date has been set for when New Hampshire will start administering the new set of exams, which have yet to be developed. But to achieve the goal of sending kids to college at 16, Tracy and his colleagues recognize preparation will have to start early. Nearly four years ago, New Hampshire began an initiative called Follow the Child. Starting practically from birth, educators are expected to chart children's educational progress year to year. In the future, this effort will be bolstered by formalized curricula that specify exactly what kids should know by the end of each grade level.
That should help minimize the need for review year to year. It will also bring New Hampshire's education framework much closer to what occurs in many high-performing European and Asian nations. "It's about defining what lessons students should master and then teaching to those points," says Marc Tucker, co-chair of the commission and president of the National Center for Education and the Economy in Washington. "Kids at every level will be taking tough courses and working hard."
Right now, Tucker argues, most American teenagers slide through high school, viewing it as a mandatory pit stop to hang out and socialize. Of those who do go to college, half attend community college. So Tucker's thinking is why not let them get started earlier? If that happened nationwide, he estimates the cost savings would add up to $60 billion a year. "All money that can be spent either on early childhood education or elsewhere," he says.
Critics of cutting high school short, however, worry that proposals such as New Hampshire's could exacerbate existing socioeconomic gaps. One key concern is whether test results, at age 16, are really valid enough to indicate if a child should go to university or instead head to a technical school - with the latter almost certainly guaranteeing lower future earning potential. "You know that the kids sent in that direction are going to be from low-income, less-educated families while wealthy parents won't permit it," says Iris Rotberg, a George Washington University education policy professor, who notes similar results in Europe and Asia. She predicts, in turn, that disparity will mean "an even more polarized higher education structure - and ultimately society - than we already have."
It's a charge that Tracy denies. "We're simply telling students it's okay to go at their own pace," he says. Especially if that pace is a little quicker than the status quo.

First of all how do you know that they deleted your message without reading it? Is there a way to tell that your message was read or deleted? They probably read your e-mail, looked at your profile and then deleted your message! A friend told me along time ago that people who don't put pictures up are probably married or in a serious relationship. So I think a bad picture is better than no picture.

She had surgery, she stopped not breathing in her sleep and her panic attacks stopped cold. I don't know if this is at all common but I thought I would mention it.

Yellowstone snowmobiling

Well I am back from my trip to Yellowstone. It was fabulous, I rented all my equipment from Yellowstone Adventures, sled, helmet, suit, boots, gloves, hoodie.
Yellowstone was so beautiful. Thermals of all kinds, geysers, steam vents, mud pots and hot springs. The steam from the thermals caused ice to form on some of the pines they call them ghost trees. I saw rivers that never freeze because they are feed by hot springs, canyons, waterfalls, mountains, meadows. I got to see so much animal life, bald eagles, golden eagles, ravens, swans, Canadian geese, mergansers, bison, elk, coyotes. The bison were actually between Old Faithful Geyser and the walk way where we were, the park ranger had us backing up to the far side of the walkway. I had a blast.

From Jones Fish Hatcheries Catalog -Bullfrog Tadpoles "Tadpoles are juvenile frogs. They remain as tadpoles for approximately 2 years. By the end of the second season their tails have disappeared and legs have developed. At this point they are considered frogs . Tadpoles can be stocked in a lake or pond to aid in the development of the forage base for predatory species such as the largemouth bass. Tadpoles can also be stocked in your garden pond. They feed primarily on plankton and filamentous algae, which are a major cause of unsightly water problems in garden ponds. Tadpoles may range in size from 2 to 6 inches."

Indoor Plants...Help.

This is probably not what you want to hear, but have you considered really nice silk plants? No watering No light requirements. Big plants are expensive, especially when they keep dying. I have a large spathiphyllium that seems to take a lot of abuse. I don't have one now but I had a large cast iron plant for many years. Dracaena is another plant that might work. My family all have dumbcane dieffenbachia that originally came from my mother who got it as a house warming gift more than 40 years ago. It grows really big if you have the right indirect light. I grow asparagus fern in the summer outside on a porch and bring it in before first frost and keep in the family room it gets kind of leggy by the time I put it outside the following summer. Very little care is required besides vacuuming up the dead yellow needle like leaves in the winter. One of the asparagus ferns contains my Aloe which I have around because I have been known to burn myself.

"The World's Most Dangerous Places" by Robert Young Pelton it is a Fielding Guide
It does not have a lot on China but tells you what you need to know about travel in strange places. I also recommend the CIA Factbook at https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html

There have been so many great ideas. I am going to try a few of them. I donate blood reguarly. I am usually stuck waiting for about an hour. There are normally a couple of people in line to talk with. (And they give away such sexy t-shirts how can I resist.)
