Isn't BC talking about the Upgrade ?

if i come across as cynical or withdrawn. it could have something to with the fact that i am a little.
how many on here divulge every single detail about themselves openly and honestly.
well lets see i LIVE IN PORT HARDY
i don't post good quality or recent pics because i choose not to.
i have had my image used for the profit of someone else before and don't intend to repeat.
i am on here because of my work schedule.
when i am home i spend a great deal of my time snowboarding, working on my toys, doing something outside.
so if i seem vague to you from the outside that is what i wanted and intended.
all one has to do is write and ask. i am very honest and open. ( to those i choose to get to know ) as for the rest of the world i will never meet.

was wondering how long this was gonna take? so if and only if your serious about finding someone on here you should buy the gold star.......? i become more attractive to the opposite sex and i turn up in more searches.
WOW really and all it costs me is 80$ and my pride.
well if it comes right down to it and you can only use this site if you are a paying member than i will be leaveing this site all together.
a big part of what made this site what it is and its creator rich in the process is the number of hits he gets a hour, day whatever way you want to count it.
annoy your users and your hit rate will drop right off. since you can still fully use this site as a free member i wonder what the percentage of gold stars will make up the user base on here in a months time.
i started out free and will leave here the same way.
if i wont post good pics of me on here ( they hold the rights to published pics you post ), i as for sure damn well wont hand over 80$ a year for something that was always free on here and there are more free dateing sites popping up all the time. hoping to be the next pof.
WHO WILL BE THE REPLACEMENT FOR THIS SITE. any ideals

Smokers and the obese are cheaper in the long run.
Posted:

sorry for not using exact numbers. i believe i stated approximately. either way using your numbers, smokers in Canada generate over 20 billion in tax revenue. and for smokers to be a determent tot the system every smoker in Canada would have to cost health care over 3,000$ for every smoker. ( not including all other sources of tax revenue collected from other forms of taxation. having a family member who works in health care in a executive position i know from his words " if every smoker in Canada quit tomorrow, the Canadian health care system would be in serious trouble. " i think the whole 20% is a bit of a under shot. just as many on here i know personally, a lot of people wont readily admit to the habit.
if you want to discuss the costs of drinking here are some good points of interest
health care costs.
police costs
court costs
in any case it is just a opinion. i have mine and you have yours.

smokers contribute approximately 35 billion in tax revenue annually in Canada,
that and when they do go into the health care system they DO get pushed to the back of the line. although they don't go in and out repeatedly for treatment. it is just another example of a study done by some goof. wow what a awakening of insight. right up there with eating too much red meat is bad and binge drinking causes damage to ones overall health.
here it is straight across the board. most things are perfectly fine in moderation. ( BEFORE SOMEONE POSTS BACK WITH SOME LEFT WING ARGUMENT I SAID MOST )
if i were to pic one reason for the increased demand on the health care system it wouldn't be smoking, drinking or diet. it would be the loss of natural selection in the human animal. ( we are animals, although most tend to forget that. take away the advances in society and see what happens. )
unlike any species in nature where only the strongest and best adapted of the population get to pass on their genes, for humans it's a total free for all. the reason for increased rates in obesity, cancer, heart disease, ect., ect.........
if your curious of how i came up with the app tax revenue smokers contribute
here it the math
average smoker = 1 pack a day @ 10$ per pack
multiplied by one year = 2920$
population of Canada = roughly 40 million with 30 % of the population smoking
now as far as the obese side of the study. personally i think it was lumped in for the fact that obese people have a similar track record for medical visits and life expectancy.
the do however contribute nothing near the level of tax revenue that smokers will over a lifetime.
studies like this irritate me simply because the millions spent on compiling the data could have been used to do something useful.

usage + grammar RANT
Posted:

nice to see how passing judgment over another isn't limited to the real world. people with this personality trait reveal so much about themselves. if spelling and grammar are so important than why don't you date a English major. I'm sure there use of the english language will be more attune to your liking. personally i could care less. if you are truly willing to dismiss someone solely on the basis of a type - o or misplaced comma i feel for you. you just may have dismissed the person you have been dreaming of meeting.
if i spoke with all the variations and completely unknown words of the Newfoundland English dictionary, than you all would probably assume that i have at best a grade 2 education. ( before you go all Google crazy, yes Newfoundland has its own dictionary )
passing judgment over someone to me personally is more of a reflection of the one passing judgment, than the one being judged.
FYI. appearing/ acting intelligent and being intelligent are two very different things.

all the little games some people play just irk me to no avail.
have blown off a few relationships when they start to behave thusly only to get a call later on asking why they haven't heard from me.
honestly what is the point of it? what are you trying to accomplish with this behaviour?
at some point you have to grow up and put away childish things and behaviour.
the people who continue on with this throught life can be called something.....lonely.

Tickets for parking too far from the curb
Posted:
1/9/2009 9:04:00 PM
there is a novel ideal. getting a fine for a traffic violation. who would have known.
want to start complaining that you get a fine for running a light or speeding.
its all the same lot. by driving or parking in a reckless manner you put other people who use public roadways in danger/harm.
thinking that your rights, your needs come first is..................................
the road is public and if your vehicle is unprepared or unequipped you should not be on them.
a little FYI for all. department of highways vehicles are not liable for damage done to your vehicle in such a case. just a public transit isn't liable for clipping cars parked too far from the curb.
as for the poor snow clearing, if most cant drive in it, so called professional drivers included. what then makes you assume that the people who clear the roads are any more competent.

the curse of working in camp?
Posted:
1/9/2009 5:08:55 PM
thanks to everyone for the response.
i agree that there has to be trust on both sides in such a relationship. ( most important part of every relationship ) finding someone of strong character who can exist on their own is the hard part. i don't look for someone to make me their whole life as i wouldn't do this to them. i have a great life, i just want to share my life with someone who feels the same.
the most important thing i have learned is that it isn't what they look like ( it isn't a bad thing to date someone who is attractive ) its the way they look at you.

the curse of working in camp?
Posted:

O.k i have to ask. is there some sort of flaw with a man who works in camp?
Seems to me in my history that it never works. I'm open and honest in that i say what i do and that i love it. Everyone goes into the relationship knowing what the deal is but for some reason it becomes a issue down the road.
So my question is simply this. Is being in a relationship with a guy who works in camp a deal breaker? Just like to know.
This isn't a pity thread. I don't do pity, nor do i look for it. Life is what ya make it.

ive only ever had the pleasuer of meeting one in my life who i would call pshychic.
she had insight into things that was were know only to me and had insight that i did not.
here is my way of spotting the fake from the real. a con artist will be vague and unclear in what they have to say, telling you only what they think you want to hear and what you belive. a observent person can read your body laguage and gague what you are thinking. a real one will have real insight and there will be truth in their words. you may not like what they have to say but the truth of things isnt always what we wish it to be.
just my thoughts

DRIVING IN THE SNOW......
Posted:
12/23/2008 11:37:51 PM
ive read through most of the posts and have found some good tips ( ie. using your gears to aide in control ) and some just horrid ( pumping your breaks? most cars manufactured past 1995 have abs. they dont stay fully engaged and bacically pump the breaks for you. pumping the beaks negates the safety feature )
with this cold snap use winter tires. they have a softer rubber compound and mantain traction at a much lower tempatuer than all season ( loose traction below -7. the rubber in the tires goes rock hard and the treads cant flex to give you traction. )
the best tip i can give anyone is to act like a goof for the sake of learnig. go to a slightly snow covered, deserted parking lot. makeing yourself lose control and then practiseing regaining it will help you understand what you need to do when you loose control on the road. it is far better to slip and slide around a parking lot for a few hours and get fusturated, trying to get the feel for how your car reacts in the snow than to find yourself out of control on the road and in the path of oncomeing traffic.
p.s if you skimp on your tires for your car it is just as bad as skimping on your health.
both can kill you.
drive defensive, safely and prepared.

im just glad that i live in a place where the muinicipalitity takes care of the major sidewalks. i work too much and i am rarely home. when i am i do more than my fair share of snow shoveling. ( a few of my neibhours find it very hard and i dont mind getting out of the house and clearing a few driveways and sidewalks)
what ive seen for snow since moveing to bc isn't very much at all. moved here to get away from the newfoundland winters. ( going to sleep with a clear road and wakeing up and wondering where your car is under the snow)

soundslike your building a pretty sweet bike. shimano stick shifter eh. pretty sweet.
i would however reccomend that you stay away from those generators that run off your tire. they have a tendancy to chew up the sides of the tire that it gets its momentum from. if your planning to grab a set of white walls i wouldnt do it.
white wall tires apx. $200, bicycle generator $6. opt out for a simple rechargable r/c style battery pack. gives a cleaner look and will save your tires.

funny how the originator of this thread has openly admitted to failing to follow city ordinance. altough you have explained that you find it difficult, i dont think the courts will show simpathy. personally i think that there are too many frivelous lawsuits flowing before the courts. this is right up there with the elderley woman who sued mcdonalds for burning herself with a cup of coffee and won. coffee is served hot and snow/ice is slippery. so my question is this, exactley when have we started rewarding mental incompetance with large settlements. start takeing some personal responsibility and use you head. i think some have been looking over the border for whats happening right here.
the american motor industry had doomed itself through its own flawed design.
people are finally starting to realize that owning a surburban and running around town i foolish. ( espechially with todays gas prices ) its all a matter of supply and demand.
if nobody wants them and they have loads of them they have to drop the prices to try and sell them. i dont think gm has dropped the price on their hybrid models.
all taking about a recession will do is reduce consumer confidence which in itself is a wonderful way to cause the very thing you are trying to say " may happen"

Gas Prices and Downsizing?
Posted:
10/19/2008 10:06:40 PM
no matter what you drive there is a very easy way to improve your fuel economy. ( and get a few extra ponies to boot )
upgradeing your oem air intake system and exhaust system to allow for more air flow greatley improves your fuel economy. better spark plugs and wires will help too.
i personally went from 8L/100km highway to 4L/100km highway. ( the upgrades paid for themselves in a year and the improved air flow allows for a more complete burning of the fuel in the combustion chamber resulting in a cleaner engine that will last longer.
peace
other than that switch form a car/truck to a bike.

Do you eat farm salmon?
Posted:
10/19/2008 7:34:25 PM
myself i eat farmed salmon. i eat wild salmon.
as someone who has worked in the comerchial fisherey and the aquaculture industry i have a very good first hand view of this topic.
to say that any industry leaves no impact would be a blatant lie.
to say that what most of the opponotes of farmed salmon have had to say in this thread is fact would also be a lie.
the biggest opponets here in b.c are the david suzuki foundation ( he was to dissolve his relationship with the orginization because as a scientistis it is detremental to ones validity to be associated with a socalled scintific group that releases unsupported data)
and alexzandrea mortensen. ( her degree is a honarary one, and what little if any credibality she ever had with dfo has long disappeared) [ fyi. how much of a opponet of fish farming was she before her late husband lost his position with a fish farm company? ]
the " fatty" texture people are referring to is omega3 fatty acid deposits which have great health benefits for people.
as for the whole sea lice issue, they go into the water free of lice so is it the farmed spreading it to the wild or viseversa.
aside from being in the industry i also was raised in newfounland and saw the collapse of the fisherey due to overfishing and mis management by dfo.
the same thing is happening here. i have lived i b.c for over 10 years noe and have seen a dramatic fall in the amount and quality of the catch of all pacific species.
if you want some facts look around the net
look on marine harvest canadas website. ( they openly disclose information to the public )
i would not tell anyone what to eat ither way but i will say if people only knew exactley what is in the food they eat, most would have to starve inorder to hold on to their ideals.
p.s halokitty, since you love that yummy candied salmon i thought it wise to let you know it probably wasnt wild. unless it was from what someone smoked themselves.

we waste billions on trying to control and prosecute pot.
why? because we are told it is a drug.
the same was true for alachol during proahibition, and we all know what happened there.
the moment you put something outside the legal realm, the criminal element will step in and reap the financhial benefit of providing it to the masses who want it.
the REAL GATEWAY DRUG is and always has been alachol. people do more things they will later regret if they can rember the events of the night before.
here is my proof....
finish the sentance with the following choices, drinking or smoking pot

if its in bc and legal to harvest ive probably had it.
i have to ask. what is this ideal that farm salmon are full of chemicals? where would i go to see the scientific data to support this.
seriously.........
free range chickens have a life span of months where as the chicken you buy in the supermarket may make it to a few weeks before they are so physically deformed they can no longer move.
as for the dumping of bi - catch on commerichal fishing vessels. it has had a dramatic cut back. all catch on all commerchial fishing vessels is monitored and reviewed by validators. ( recorded video of every set pulled over the side of the boat )

only one who has never tried competing in motor sports could ever come up with such a insane analasis. jump on a motorcross bike and take it around the track for a couple of laps and see how much physical exertion is required. as far as the equality of performance among competitors in motorsport, what about every other sport. more money means better equipment, more talanted atheletes, ect. the most evenly matched sport that comes to mind is nascar where they are designed to be a evenly matched as possible. ( a skilled mechanic can find ways to add slight advantages in design and performance ) burning fuel has a impact on th enviorment, so who here uses no fuel in their daily lives. the items you buy at the local grocery store were put there by truckers who burn fuel to transport it.

lol. now we can blame childhood ear infections for obesity. whats next? maybe a link between diminished vision and obesity. some people have a genetic link for obesity but aside from that what else really is there. i had lots of ear infections when i was young and i never had a issue with weight. obesity is a result of consumeing more calorie than you burn off on a daily basis. scientifically anything can be linked if you have a big enough data pool to draw upon. i agree that yes anyone in a work situation should be drug and alachol free. is this a reality, not really. this is why some employers make drug and alachol testing part of the work routine. i argue with the reality that of all the substances pot is the one that stays in your system for months where as all other substances slip through in a few days. so i ask this simple question, would you rather work with the guy that smokes a joint at the end of the day or the guy that hasen't slept in four days because he has been going hard since monday's drug test?

Earth Day Celebration
Posted:

the earth cares for humans just as a dog cares for the fleas on its back. we are VIRUS.
we congergate in large clusters and exhaust every avalible resource till there is nothing is left.
there is lots to be done by everyone to improve our impact on the planet. some have all ready have been mentioned. ( getting rid of cars isnt one of them....... )
in all honesty it is a futile fight till the powers that be get on board and that wont happen till it is far too late. industry places the plant and revenue on a scale to see the variance between profit and enviromental impact. not much of a scale since all the profit in the world means nothing if we destroy our home. the planet is a very old place and never in its histroy has it had to deal with the kind of misuse and abuse that humanity has befallen it in the last 200 years.
for those of you that talk of the good old days here is something to think about.
replace every car in vancouver with a horse for one week to accomidate transport of people.. so roughly 1,000,000 horses reliveing themselves a few times a day. it just dosen't work. the solution is a simple one but it wont happen, we have to get off the petroelium.

Mandatory pre employment and inccidental drug and alcohol testing. Is this legaly justifiable?
Posted:

what a joke. the only chemichal that shows up with any duration is pot. and it is the least harmful of all. i work in camp and have done so for a long time. ( i work outside with the crews, not in the cook house ) if you smoke pot in your own time your fine by morning but it stays in your system for weeks. drink or do any of the above mentioned chemichals and see how your doing the next day, although all traces of the chemichal are gone in a few days.
its just a classic example of big busisness playing C.Y.O.A.
not at all that different from the legistlation they introduced a few years ago. ( bill C 45)
i agree for testing for all employees regardless of duties but make it reasonable.
i have worked with all types and trust me on this pot heads are the least of you worries

Transit Police miss using stun guns
Posted:

police officers have tasers for a reason. a "less lethal menas of control"
would you like them to pull their firearms at every situation.
just another fine example of wanting your cake and eat it too.
police officers have a very dangerous job and have to deal with life threatening situations on a regular basis. ( a simple traffic stop could be the last thing they do )
( free transit. its allready partially funded by the goverment. if you want free transit than you have to pay higher taxes )
finally for the man that died of heart complications due to being hit with a taser, well..... i am aware that he couldnt communicate with the police in his own language or speak english but think about it. i mean really think..... if a person dressed as a person of authority walks up to you pointing a weapon in your direction and jestering you to stop and get down to the ground. i'm sorry you dont need to speak the persons language to know what they want you to do. thinking or claiming that he was ignorant to the officers requests is just foolish.

well i cant say they are slow. some crazy gear head crammed a diablo 5000 motor into one. ( cant understand how, can see why though [ because you can ] )
the video is on u tube.
buy one rotflmao............couldnt justify spending that much on one shoe.
i mean really, two passengers and two breifcases and you have a full load, just hope you are not 6'.
i would rather have the saturn electric car. no emissions, mid size vehicle with 4 doors and a trunk. didnt burn fuel and worked too well. ( who killed the electric car? )

What is better, sheep or goats?

to respond to message # 9
all of my experienece in dealing with livestock is in newfoundland where climate, landscape, and seasons are quite different than b.c.
none the less, if anyone would consider livestock as a way of maintaining your lawn......
than they must have in the area of 3 to 5 acres i would hope.
their numbers do increase steadily and a smaller acerage would leave you with the bill for feeding them. as for housing them you will need a fenced of for them called a corral, and a small shelter is a good ideal. ( i wouldn't leave any animal to suffer in weather that i would avoid myself. ) if you would bring in a pet from the storm why not your livestock. all animals need to see a vet anually.
my comment was directed towards the whole ideal of using livestock to care for your lawn.
why do i comment in these threads

so whats the reasoning for switching to animals and away from a lawnmower???
a grenner earth friendly method?
think it through thuroghly and you will find that a electric mower is the most earth friendly choice.
animals have to be housed during the cold months, requiring food, heat and not to mention vetrinary care. so you are putting more strain on the enviroment and the whole process will end up costing you alot more than even maintaining a gas powered lawnmower.
buy a electric and get some exercise.
????? do people even think before they speak or type anymore????????
i see stupid people

i am in a wheelchair and no will go out on a date

ok here is the cold hard truth.
being in a wheelchair as you are, there are certain things about your life that have to be done to accomidate your diability. if someone dosent waht to date you when they find this out, they are being honset with thimselves and you. it is a deal breaker for lots of people. then again i ask the original poster this simple question, would you date a woman with 4 or more young children?
everyone has what they look for in a date/partner/significant other, so respect other peoples choices as what they are, their own personal choice.
im shure the original poster has his own list of favourable and undesirable traits.

Questions about circumcision: Is it too late for a 12 year old to be circumcised?
Posted:
4/13/2008 8:15:04 PM
one big point i just realise no one has touched on. this is a cosmetic procedure that your 12 year old male child is requesting because his friends are teaseing him. and you are seriously consider this????????
if you son was a girl and was being harrased by other girls for haveing small breasts, would you then poll the net to see if she should be allowed to get breast agumentation surgerey so she can fit in better.
tell your son to buck up andif his friends still tease him he can reply with. " yeah im not curcumsised but the doctor said if you cut it you loose 2 or more inches.our son
that will take care of the teaseing. what your son needs is self confidence and more of a ability to stand up for himself. if he fixes this ( ??????? ) they will simply find something else to tease him on.
dont do it.

starting to lose hope in this site

starting to lose hope........ more like lost it.
i put this profile up and purposely put up pics that arent that good and dont give a good reprensentation of what i look like in the hopes of finding someone of substance.
looks are imporntant to everyone on some level, ( like to argue with me and lie to yourself and say im wrong ) but your looks will fade like the setting sun.
sad but true ........... unless you go for cosmetic surgerey.
have had this profile with up for over a year. message very few people since i only write to those who have something to say and put some effort into their profile in other forms aside from adding airbrushed photos. ( they get you more viewings and alot of dissapointed meetings )
well off the dateing aspect of this site ( have a healthy dateing pool where i am, just be realy nice to meet someone who is more than a pretty face.

WHO is teaching WHAT????

Interesting logic Genuine29.......let's see, your son tried to hurt your daughter, so you taught him this was wrong, by hurting (spanking) him. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been disciplined, but I don't believe spanking is ever the solution.
well lets see, would you spank your child if they nearly killed there sibling.
( she was being pushed towards a double flight of stairs, just started walking. )
as i said open hand on the bottom, and a light spanking ( no reddening of the skin. )
and a stern talking to. ( i have always taken the side of talking to my children as i would any adult. i explained to him that what he did was wrong and that he should stand up for his sister and not pick on her. she looks up to you soo much and thinks your the collest. this is why she wants to play with you and your toys, she wants to be like her cool big brother. )
6 months after this incident he made me a very proud father. he stood between a 12 year old bully and his little sister with his little hands clenched and stated you don't touch my ....... ( my childrens names and image is not for public domaion).
to this day they both will scold me if i give ither one of them a time out or a talking to.
so i ask one spanking of one child once to get positive long term results. i dont suggest that anyone spank their kids but i do suggest that you use your best judgement.
it is ither this or we will be seeing more juvenile offenders laveing our courts laughing their heads off at the system as i had seen on the evening news just a few days ago.

is your son old enough. yes. as long as he is alive they can do the procedure.
to the original poster, i think you may be missing the real question you should be asking yourself. why is your son asking for this????
has he been asking for this for a long time?
is he suffering any ill effects because he didnt have the procedure?
now re - evaluate your query.
to the comment i have read sprinkled across this thread.
" removeing foreskin helps with hygene "
well following the same logic removeing all of your teeth helps prevent tooth decay.
as far as a smell. its called pheremones, used in sexual attraction ( humans are animals, some of us more than others ) in all of the animal kingdom.
finally consider this about your beloved modern medecine. washing your hands before surgerey wasnt common place till the early 1900's and first aid wasnt developed till WWII. humm, seems to be the wrong kind of modern for me.
since this has been performed as part of faith for thousands of years, and hygene for a few hundred years ( people bathe a bit more now, doctors once told patients that too much bathing removes your natural defenses and causes illness) just as doctors have learned from the misjudgements of the past so have they today.
that is why they dont reccomend it unless the opening of the foreskin is too narrow.
it is there for a reason and serves a imporntant function, similar to the protection a woman has, should we circumsize women for hygene too ( shure there are a few that could use it , hygenically speaking ) ( not a vistegial organ like the appendix )
do what you choose just be perpared for the first time gets a erection after the surgerey. i assure you all the ointment and water on earth wont ease his pain.
depending on anatomy and indivduality he may suffer like this for a long time.
i could continue on into other areas of this but it goes into aspects that wont come into play for your son till (for your sake) he is much older and sexually active.
p.s one persons personal sexual experience is not a case study and should be regarded thusly. personal opinion only

I was merely commenting on some of the over the top posts, justa lil dramatic, something you'd hear at at a grade 8 slumber party.
I do hope adults can be a little bit more mature and controlled god forbid something happens that needs calm thinking and action
i am guessing that you direct you comment towards me since i tgo to the limit on issues on this. i have two small children who are going into the school system so i take any issue with my childrens health and safety to be paramount.
and to confirm to you this. the courts changed their stance aganst child disipline to a strict line of zero tolerance to a reasonable level because of te overburdened court system. get the parents the ability to correct their kids with a straightner when necessary. ( and for your fyi. i have spankd my son once, he tried to push his 1 year old sister down the stairs at the age of three. open hand one spank on the bottom with a good verbal scolding )
with todays society running on both parents working i ask everyone...... who is really teaching your kids and what are they learning?
