Don't know why folks have so many photos. Vanity thy name is woman. Some men have lots of photos, too. But mostly women put up a lot of pix, looking for those free-dinner dates.
Hey, it's a human instinct. We all love free stuff. Who said there was no free lunch.
One of the tricks men perpetually play on women at online sites is requesting that special photo. Presumably one showing more than their normal photos. I hear this complaint a lot from women.
Aside from that awful complaint women make against men at online sites. Men asking them for money. Not a date mind you. Money. That's pretty awful.
"Got to jump in on this one,,,I checked "rate me" and was doing great,,and found it sooo amusing,,,I was getting lots of 9 and 10,,,on the very bottom of the hottest 500,,,me a chubby middle aged woman. ahahahah, then I got a 1, and plunged to the depths of 6es ,,still laughing. The only other time I scored in a "looks" catogory was 5th grade,,voted ugliest kid,,,not just girl, but uglist kid in entire 5th grade,,I guess one of my 5th grade classmates is also on POF', but I''m still laughing.

What is it about men 40+ trying to talk to young women
Posted:
5/27/2007 10:27:54 AM
It's terrible, isn't it? How those awful men seek selfish pleasure with women. Yikes. What are we going to do?
"Certainly an older man is well spoken, has been around the world and learned some things--at least they're more well spoken than a clumsy youth (which I no doubt was). I didn't know I was trading my youth for feeding their egoes (as you prove by that excerpt above). I was loyal and dedicated to my man, I was the perfect submissive house helper. I was dependent emotionally. Did he marry me? OF COURSE NOT! But that is what I was in it for. I do not doubt that they were in the relationship to feel young--and to feel in control.
I recently dated a guy my age (actually 7 years older) who had "forgotten"

Love Making for Seniors

The trials and tribulations of the over 45 group. Sex is yet another pleasure or adventure. How many of us have forgotten how to ride a bicycle? Not one of us, I suspect.
"5. Write partner's name on your hand in case you can't remember.
6. Keep extra polygrip close by so your teeth don't end up under the bed..
7. Have Tylenol ready in case you actually complete the act.
8. Make all the noise you want. The neighbors are deaf too.
9. If it works, call everyone you know with the good news.
10. Don't even think about trying it twice.

Have your body part names, changed with age?
Posted:

For mine, the names have changed to protect the innocent. No reward has been offered. But there is the big round-up coming up. Get your horse and rope and ride.
"Hello all.
For the first half century I never had names for my parts or, indeed, those of my partners, and always struggled with the slang terms I heard. Some of them, frankly, were quite grating on my sensitive ears. But my last BF has a term for his member that just cracked me up - honestly, I would have giggle attacks at the most inappropriate moments. Fortunately, he had a good sense of humour too and sometimes used to deliberately try to make me laugh. What's the name? Omar the tent-maker.

Whats the worst.....

I hate to watch TV drunk. The commercials always come on in latin. And I was okay in high school with it. But in adult life I can't abide it.
Also I hate doing the crossword puzzle drunk. And don't even ask me about sudoku.
"I would say drunk posting because the whole world can see . Drunk emailing and drunk dialing is basically one on one .
Not unless he decides to show his buddies the crap you wrote....
I can't say I've ever been drunk, but we have a rule among friends. If we even get a little tipsy, we are to stay away from all cell phones, land lines, and computers...lol

When you're picking fish it's all right to be picky. Not every fish is created equal. Some jump right into the boat. Others put up a fight. Others will break your line. Snap your rod. Then what are you going to do?
"It seems few really meet anyone for dating on this site. I wee plenty of 'I am fed up with love stories' and I am too old to settle for less than I think I deserve' but the fact is, one day you will wake up and realize that you are no longer able to date. Seniors and Jury Duty
Posted:
5/25/2007 12:57:27 PM
It seems more often than not seniors receive notices for jury duty. We being upstanding citizens, opening our mail to receive invitations to serve. Other age groups receive notices, but often ignore them. Shirk their responsibility.
My questions is how many times have you served and were the cases interesting or dull, reduced to burglary or personal injury related?
If you haven't served how did you ever get out of jury duty?
The law says citizens must serve, though somehow it seems executives and higher ups are seldom actually served for this purpose.

how clean is your house ?
Posted:

Yes, I saw the show. No I won't be diddling those old maids.
"Yet I am not going to let the place turn into a pig stye. I have a girl that comes in once a week and does all the serious cleaning. Floors, carpet, bathrooms, kitchen, dusting etc. I make sure to have plenty of trashcans places in strategic places all over the house and remember to take the trash out on the proper nights of the week. Earlier this year my housekeeper had to take off a month because her mother was ill. I learned she is more than worth every penny I pay her. I hear women say all the time they could not let someone clean their house because they would not do as good a job as them. I was obviously blessed with the best because she can do a better job in one day than I can in two weeks time.

Seniors -- Seeking New Adventures
Posted:
5/22/2007 8:38:20 AM
Sometimes as we get older we lose a sense of adventure. Well, some of us. The urge is to relax and do what's worked for us in the past. Others of us are adventurous, daring. For some this may mean dancing, learning to tango. Or bungee jumping.
And for still others it's always good to push the envelope. Something that surprises you. Tells you that you can do something you never thought you could do. Horseback riding?
What have you done lately that has been truly adventurous. Outright the opposite of what you've done in the past. Say, learning a new language.
Something that stands out as a departure. Singing in a choir. Or something more exciting like taking a trip to a country you've never visited.
Some activity that requires new skills. Like learning to fly an airplane or snow or water ski or hang glide. There's always the new career waiting for you. What risk has been the most enjoyable.

Others that preferred being treated as if playing hide and seek, ya gotta sneak up on that little fellow he he he. Will the doctor 'will' be returning. I see the gay fellow is back. Some are so campy, hammy for the camera you kind of wonder about the reality of it -- and how other folks in the house are couping. And how about the other all-stars? Is James returning, I think that's his name. The one who considered to be the best at slipping past, getting back in the game.
And what of last year's blond bombshell, the boob job lady, perhaps the best player who ever played the game. So attractive and athletic and capable of winning most of the competitions, is she coming back.
Trouble is in all-star big brother competitions the better people/players get voted off early. You know she's a dead duck.
And what of the muslim guy is he returning. Oh, he's good.

Senior assumptions - are they really unattached?
Posted:

To quote from MSNBC
Men may not lie about their looks as much as women, but one in five guys say they have claimed to be single when they're not. While over half of the participants were married, that hasn't stopped them from actively pursuing sexual contact online. At least 29 percent of men say they go online intending to cheat.
A cautionary tip for women -- men who don't post a picture on their personals profiles are twice as likely to be married.
"The profile and the picture are only the begining. Are you suggesting that all who start to fis are lying? POF is only a beffining an introductuion by your Pastor, a pick up in a bar, a face in the crowd, I'm 72, a widower, who, wants female companionship. I'll not find it sitting at home in front of the TV. POF pits me in front of hundreds of LADIES within 50 miles of me. They say they are available so I fish. Do you think I would get the same exposure if I stood on a street corner with a sandwich sing front and back.

If she was a male we'd probably say someone should call the cops. Little children around. Sexuality is fine and dandy. Why not confine it private quarters.
There's perfectly good reasons to arrest those for indecent exposure. Sounds like a neurosis disorder. Or just plain stupidity.
What kind of medication is she on?

Heck, she usually saves me the cover charge when we go to listen to a band. Out on the lake, better get the spf out cause she really likes saying hello to all the boaters!!! It's okay to question the facts. Have a healthy skepticism of men giving out cellphone numbers. Doesn't make you always cynic. Just a bit cautious.
Of course, I should mention CNN news reported not too long ago about at least half those on site at online romance areas are married. This could've fueled my skepticism.
Gotta look the facts. People cheat. So many broken marriages folks are prowling the online romance sites.
"then they have a hidden family somewhere ?? ... If a woman shows up at a first date with a lot of jewelry, then she is a gold-digger ?? If a man says he can't see you next weekend, then it means that he's married ??
When are people going to spend their time looking for reasons to trust people rather than reasons to doubt them ??

Sometimes longer. Occasionally with a friend. Ha. Also take baths. No, we don't fit so easily.
Often use "stone soap". It's glycerine based. very nice, attractive. Often herbal. Looks like a large blue or jade stone. Big as your palm and jagged, not sharply. A new age thing, you know. Spiritual.
"Have your showers just gotten longer and more relaxing.

Often as not it has been said that when a man gives out his cell phone number he's trying to hide that he's attached, married unhappily. It's a bad omen.
Of course, it may not be true.
My understanding is that ladies give out their cell phone number because their addresses can't be looked up on the internet from cell phone numbers, reverse look ups, you know. Phone numbers of land-lines will give you the address of almost anyone.
One lady told me a fellow showed up at her house, after she gave her phone number out. Not a good situation.

The majority of profiles we see are for people who say their unattached. Why do we trust someone's profile? Just because they say their single doesn't make it so. No real way to determine the accuracy of some descriptions.
Likewise with their situation -- divorced or separated or widowed? A certain gulliability on the part of the reader is expected. Some trust which may not be a good thing. A little I suppose goes a long way.
Too often we find out the person is completely different from their photo, what they said. Is this your experience?

Most likely the right person is in your own neighborhood. Take sometime and go out and smile and talk to women. They're right there in your neighborhood. Join some organizations. Introduce self.
The best advice is stay put and look around you. You'll find what you're looking for and more. Ever heard of the law of attracting. Think positive.

It's a tough call. That's a far way to go for a relationship. Intimacy comes from getting together, speaking candidly about who you are what you're looking for.
You need to agree, the both of you, of the difficulties of long distance relationships. And ways to avoid the oncoming issues. Of course, you could meet half way between. Is she interested in that?
Finding a partner means sharing, one calling the other one time, the next the other calls. It's easy, or so it seems, to have relationship with someone who's so far away. Probably just an penpal.
Too often the relationship means one coming to visit the other. Not sharing responsibilty. Meeting in between is the best compromise. When two people have so much at stake they recognize the hardships. Would recommend talking a lot on the phone. That way you can learn more about each other. messaging and email cannot gain either of you that much.

The serial dater wears eye patch and usually has a peg-leg. The long-term dater is handsome, prince charming and loves to express himself by singing sweet tender lovesongs and playing the violin.
'"Online dating has created the opportunity for some people to get hooked on the search. I think this is what she means. What I have heard called "BBD" Bigger Better Deal.
I have encountered this.. where after a few dates there is nothing. Other party went on to the next one, never giving anyone their total attention...always keeping the options open...looking for the next exciting one to come along and start again.

For Women Only ! Is there sex after hysterectomy ?
Posted:
5/13/2007 12:14:01 PM
Yes, libido takes a nosedive. Can't adjust so quickly during menopause. Men find it near impossible to cope with all the changes in women. All too many changes to adjust to. What happened to men/women seeking love/sex?
"I realize that hormones or lack thereof can have some effect on libido, but having worked in the medical field for many many years, including in sexual health, my observation is that "as a man (on in this case woman) thinketh in his hears, so is he/she" is pretty true. If you believe it will "change you" it WILL change you...HRT has many down sides. I took it for 10 yrs and I could tell some differences when I stopped, but now that more women are off of HRT, the breast cancer rate is falling rapidly. Short term HRT, maybe, but no long term is my choice...exercise for bone health or various medications for that are possible.

Yes, I agree. Menopause is a difficult adjustment period. Men encountering women experiencing menopause should learn how to duck. Prayer would also help. It's a terrible thing. And those not getting love in the bedroom are out and about. Yikes. The ladies are ornery and putting down men who have to put up with their menopause effects.
They ought to put up a sign. Women going through menopause here. Be prepared for women putting down men. The trouble is on the way.
It's Ma and Pa Kettle. And Ma's got menopause and she means to make a fellow pay for it. Look out.

Over 45 and Single - Is it easier to get a 6 pack or get laid?
Posted:
5/13/2007 10:04:16 AM
It's easier to get laid than doing most things. Abdominal exercises require discipline. Sex requires only you buy the lady dinner and a few drinks. And all of a sudden her libido is fired up.
Funny thing is, without much fanfare, if you ask a lady, you can bypass the dinner and go straight to what both you desire.

Truth is perhaps you are addicted to her. She sounds self-destructive as well as abusive to you and others. You're the addict. Stop seeking her is my point of view.
Break it off. Or continue being abused by her.
"well, dude, i have tried everything with this and had the attitude of yours to work through it,however, she is not finished yet, manipulation and lies are a daily routine for her, dont get me wrong, when she's clean she is the most beautifull woman i've ever met, same values and important stuff, but if she dont wanna change, she wont, i have been doin a bunch of self education

Masturbation for women and men. It's a handful, ain't it. Women have their hands on it. Their fingers are on the button. Push it and missiles are launched from beneath the sea.
The stuff that dreams are made of. Ladies talk about masturbation, though in a code only they know. Unless of course, men have their de-coder rings. Yes, men know all about women and masturbation. it's a secret we share in lockerooms to fill the idle moments between beer and halftimes at football games.
Though the ladies lips are sealed men know they merely pretend not to speak of it. Ha!

Do some of these profiles seem too well written?
Posted:

Mostly I don't read profiles. They can mislead. Photos can do the same. I prefer talking on the phone before reading a profile. I do of course read the mail I receive. Usually their phone number follows.
By listening to them I can determine most of what I need to know. Asking questions is good. If the topic of coversation is titilating in the way of playfully about sex, it's probably a match. If she's not interested or doesn't feel comfortable about talking about sex. Then it's good-bye.
"OP, some people can write and others can't...And while there are places one can get stuff written for them, I doubt too many on a free dating site are going to pay someone to write their profile, lol.

Let's certainly hope so. The facts spell a hopeful outcome.
"It's been 7 years for me. Still have the ovaries, but my drive and enjoyment has never been better. Most of the ladies here have commented about being free from periods, cramps, etc and I'm with them all the way. Life started when I kicked those friggin parts to the curb!!! It's good OP that you're finding a new doc. Something's definitely not right there!

(from the dark depths of the internet.)
The Etymology of Slang Sexual Terms
The word horny "sexually excited, lecherous" derives from an interesting yet not surprising source. As early as the mid-18th century, an erection was known as a horn or the horn, simply because it looked a bit like one. James Joyce even used the term in his Ulysses. From there, any man having the horn was called horny, and this is first recorded in 1889. It was surely in use long before then, as the horn probably was. It often takes some time for lewd slang to make it into the written record.
OTHER SEXUAL TERM(S) PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED:
**** as a slang term for the female pudenda is thought to derive ultimately from Low German puse "vulva" or Old Norse puss "pocket, pouch". It didn't arise in English with a sexual meaning until the 19th century, but prior to that it had been used to refer to women in general (16th century). It has since also come to mean "effeminate, feeble, or homosexual men or boys" (20th century).
A reader has asked about the word**** wondering if it had something to do with "cunning" as in "a cunning woman was a negative thing". It has nothing to do with cunning (which is related to the verbs ken and can) and everything to do with what it means today: "female genitalia". It first shows up in a list of London street names of about 1230. That street name was, interestingly, Gropecuntelane, one of a warren of streets and alleyways all given over to the lowest forms of prostitution and bawdry. It lay between Aldermanbury and Coleman Street (where the Swiss Bank stands today) and it belonged to one "William de Edmonton". Curiously, medieval Paris had a street name with an identical meaning - Rue Grattecon. Oxford and York apparently also had similar versions of that street name.
Cunt is believed to derive from a Germanic root *kunton "female genitalia", which also gave rise to Old Norse kunta (ancestor of Norwegian and Swedish dialectical kunta and Danish dialectical kunte), Old Frisian, Middle Low German and Middle Dutch kunte, and the English doublet quaint. And, by the way, the word wasn't always considered derogatory, even though it is today. Be careful about assuming that a word's modern connotations must have governed its formation. By the way, no connection has been made between the Germanic words and Latin cunnus. The proto-Germanic root of****is ku- "hollow place", while the Indo-European root of Latin cunnus is (s)keu- "to cover, to conceal", the etymological meaning of cunnus being "sheath".
Poontang is an interesting word. It is so far removed linguistically from what it means in English that Melanie's grandmother taught Melanie and her siblings and cousins a rhyme when they were young that goes like this:
What's my name? Pudding Tang.*
Ask me again and I'll tell you the same.
Grandma was (and is!) a God-fearing, proper woman, and she would never teach her grandchildren something lewd or bawdy. She probably learned the verse as a senseless rhyme when she was a child. This smacks strongly of a folk etymology formed by people who did not understand the term poontang. If that's what it is, the couplet indicates that the term poontang has been around for some time -- Grandma was born in 1909! Interestingly, the first example of the word in writing is from 1929. That's not surprising, as a writer would have had to be mighty brave to record that word before it had become common and lost some of its edge.
What exactly does poontang mean? It has several meanings: a woman as a sex object, sexual intercourse, and probably the ultimate meaning, female pudenda. So where did such a bizarre-sounding word come from? There are several theories. Probably the most popular is that it derives from Louisiana (and standard) French putain "whore". This is possible as most people we know who are familiar with the word are from Louisiana or some state nearby, or they first heard the word from a citizen of that area. However, the connection to putain is based mostly on conjecture, because of the similarity of the French word to the English one. Some etymologists specializing in slang think that the word more likely derives from a Chinese language, as there are variant forms like poon tai and poon kai. One school has it coming from some Filipino language, while Eric Partridge guesses it is of American Indian origin.
Oh, we found it amusing to learn that the following statement is widely attributed to John F. Kennedy immediately after he was elected president in 1960: "I guess this means my poon days are over."
*Some readers have written to say that the name in the couplet is actually Pudding Tain or Puddin' Tain and so it can't be related to poon tang. Frankly, it doesn't matter. It's not clear if the couplet is related to poon tang, but tain suggests even more strongly that it is related, especially if poon tang derives from putain. If someone has evidence of another explanation of the origin of the very odd couplet, please let us know, but to date we've heard nothing. And Grandma is still alive and agrees that, for her, the name was always Pudding Tang (though, of course, she says it as "puddin'". She is Texan, after all!).

peter is pietra in italian. Pietra = stone in Italian. Makes more sense, and
solves one of my earlier queries. But substantively, doesn't effect the
argument. Latin has (no argument) petra=rock. And what little
relevance the various excurses into Indo-European cognates has, the
crunch of any argument over the peter=rock turns on the existence of the
pun in the Vulgate. That it previously existed in Greek (although +not+
in Aramaic) is interesting but not germane. (not my writing, but an etymylogical quote taken from the internet. Sournce: The O.E.D.
For word derviations try the oxford english dictionary O.E.D. A book just miraculous in terms of its beauty and authority as the Bible. Some think there are only two miracles that ever made into print. One was the Bible, second was The O.E.D.

The reason with we so often use euphemism for body parts is directly related to how much guilt or shame we feel about discussing our bodeis, or sexual activity. Parts of human behavior sometimes get relegated, so much reduced that we need to find different ways of talking about them. Sex is taboo among many. Though less so.
By the way, my private parts have often been different names by different ladies. Peter, Sam, John Henry. Go figure. My favorite was Nixon.
"But to go back on what I just said (LOL, LOL)!!!

As the arcane arguement goes, it's okay for men to do it. But not for women. This false idea was obviously concocted by a man who wanted women to remain virginal, chaste. To shame the woman into rigid, asexual behavior, even in private. To invade, control and otherwise diminish. How horrible.
"I don't think it has anything to do with being shy & withdrawn, or being prudish, or even being 'victorian' in thought/attitude. And...it's not because we find it shameful or anything like that either. If and when most women discuss this kind of thing, it's usually with other women and not in mixed company. If we DO discuss it with men, it's usually

Could say it's a matter of taste.
There aren't too many no-no's to contend with. It's all about the old college try. Coming up for oxygen is recommended. Listening to oohs and ahhs that drift upward and cling to the ceiling light, like moths to the flame. It's the aahs that somehow reach the stars.

OF course, there are women (and men) who aren't keen about conversing on masturbation. Might also say that often in the past one got the impression the senior forum was dominated by the prudish sewing circle crowd. Ms Manners seems to letting up. Giving slack after a tug of war. The victorian era has given way to open discussions of an intimate, candid nature.

Sexy food in our 40's, myth or for real?
Posted:

Definitely there are foods that will give you greater sexual desire. As in greater energy. Lay off of red meat. And a high fat diet. When you energy drops your desire for sex may follow. For example, anyone who has fasted notices their energy level rises. Try veggies for breakfast.
If increase sexual appetite is what you desire watch the number of calories consumed per meal. Keep you weight down as much as you can. Exercise frequent.
As the saying goes eat less, live longer.
"Over the years I have heard/read that certain foods kick in the sexual desire. Now that we are older and wiser, does this really hold true. As much as I like olives and oysters, which are two that come

Dating types: playboy vs player

In the end, pardon the pun, there are no playboys or players. Just folks looking for love/sex. Some know how to find it, others know how to ask for it. Others don't.
have read zillions of threads on "players", female and male but mostly male ones.
But I wonder what female and male forumers consider the similarities and differences between a "Playboy" and a "Playa"!
I think there are plenty, but I do not wish to pre-empt the discussion.

....those of you who know me understand that I have this pretty well figured out....and those that don't are free to challenge it.
Go ahead....ask the GURU anything about relationships, and hanging with the opposite gender....Kind of like dear Abby of Dating.....

One Liner Messages... This time they are from the ladies

Responding to interest from an email is okay. But when the lady just wants a penpal that's probably a waste of time. I don't have the time to deal with all the email in my inbox. So if I'm interested I write back.
But on a second email I request their phone number. Some ladies are so shy and insecure they just want someone to write to. It's kind of sad. But I would rather speak to an outgoing lady on the phone that constantly email someone too shy.

Mostlt it's lust. The urge to experience the most intimate of experiences with another person. It's desire. Lust at first sight.
"Chemistry for me is a chemical reaction that happens deep inside when the first hug, kiss or even holding hands occurs.
The fragrance of her hair, the soft and not overbearing perfume wafting through my senses as she passes by..
It's the images of us, fleeting through my mind as we kiss...
Everyone has a personal essence..I know in mere minutes whether I have chemistry with a lady..phermones, overactive glands..walking hormones..whatever you what to name that reaction..

As relationships are compromise. the usual practice is to meet half way. That's 15 miles for you. In either case, one time he visits your area, the next you visit his. fair ir fair.
"I am trying to get a feel if 30 miles is going to be a problem distance for me or not.
Driving that kind of distance takes time away from what you could be spending with them ya know? While not taken TOO literally, does it also mean that you dont see each other as often? Or do you not let 30 miles concern you?
