So What's The Deal?
Posted: 9/1/2008 7:21:12 AM
I posted my pictures since I have no problem with people seeing what I look like. Since I'm 70 years old and proud of every year, I think the photos are important to let people see that I am attractive. My problem is that, because a couple of the photos are "provocative" (just a little), some guys can't get beyond that to the "real me" and do not respond to my messages which deal with getting to know the real me and wanting to find out more substantive information about the guy. I suppose I could go the private photo route but I honestly feel that what we are about is all the sides of our being - sexual, intellectual, emotional, etc. I am getting much better at screening out the responses that clearly don't want to get beyond the physical. I'm actually enjoying POF a lot - e-mailing and getting to know nice men in my area and moving on quickly when someone is inappropriate. That's because I'm old and wise. LOL

A rose is a rose is a rose (or when does it matter if you are rose worthy)

I just recently got active on POF, and saw a profile I though was particularly interesting and sent a rose along with my e-mail. So I think different people have different opinions on what the rose means - which means it doesn't mean much (pardon overuse of the word "mean" - LOL).

What do high number in favorite lists indicate if anything?
Posted: 8/21/2008 7:53:05 AM
I started getting active recently on POF and suddenly I'm being added as a Favorite quite often by people I know nothing about, most of whom live far from me, etc. So I've decided it's meaningless and am surprised by the variety of opinions about what it does and doesn't mean - positive, negative, important, unimportant, etc., etc. Actually what I've noticed about most of the messages I've been glancing through - every opinion possible about every issue is expressed. So my mantra or motto or whatever - THERE IS NO IS - holds true here. There is only your perception and your opinion about things that are not factual. Those who present their opinion as THE WAY IT IS have left me behind. I respect their right to have that opinion but wish they could see it as ONLY THEIR OPINION

Text Formatting (Quoting, Bolding etc.) - Practice Thread

Underline however, you must enter your post after you have posted, in edit mode, and use the instead of [ ] brackets.

My first try at inserting quoted text into a post. Want to see if it works. However, I have no idea about what the above quote means. Enter your post AFTER you have posted, in edit mode - not making any sense to me, sorry.

Hudson Valley Roll Call

Dutchess County - near Rhinebeck (when I give my actual town - Milan - no one knows where that is). Seem like other than checking in - nothing got off the ground.

Anyway, it's nice to know who my neighbors are on POF.

Long hair on older women
Posted: 9/11/2007 6:55:14 AM
I always thought long hair on an older woman would be inappropriate - that is, until I got to be older myself. Then my opinion changed to: whatever makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone else is just fine.

So I have long hair and have had for a long time although I have also worn it short and would do so again if I felt like it. For the time being though, my hair is easy to manage, can be worn in many flattering ways and makes me feel good. The streaks of gray through it make it even more sexy.

I think my primary message is: as I grow older (and wiser I hope), it doesn't pay to think inside the box. There are so many exceptions to the rule and that's what makes life so interesting.
