Internet friendship - is it real?

There are some people who share more with online people than they do with people in their own reality. These people tend to think your a big friend because they have no life.

You have inspiring words I have no doubts about that.
If I applied for a council house I wouldn't make the top 200 highest priority cases I have accomadation and I earn too much. Also I have owned my own house before, bought it for £70000 in 1998 and paid £456 a month on my mortgage, unfortunately due to emmigrating to the States I sold it, things didn't work out and now I don't have a house or anything. So it's hard for me to take something less than what I had before. That very same house is £200,000+ now and unfortunately my salary didn't multiply by 3 in that time. In fact its barely gone up 10%..
Anyway, dating a woman who is concerned about my living conditions is not a concern. If I met a woman who I liked very much, it wouldn't matter if she lived in a hole in the ground. I would bring her up in the world without hesitation (as long as I could see a connection and ambition on her part). A problem shared is a problem halved and when you put it like that, even buying a house might not be so impossible afterall. So thats what I aim to achieve.

What do you do when you have no money?

Look around the house for as much crap as you can find and put it on eBay. Do a car boot sale out of someone elses car. If you can get £200+ from somewhere you should be able to get a car from eBay with some MOT on it.
DVD's, house furniture, fixings, old TV's.. someone will buy it. Once you get back on your feet just upgrade whatever you sold. Sometimes you have to take 1 step back before you can move 2 steps forward..

But the basic fact remains. If your a male that waited to settle down until after say 2002, its very unlikely you can now afford a property to call your own.
Lets say for arguments sake that owning a property was your wish and that is your standard for moving out. Why would I leave home to pay a minimum of £500 a month for a squat? That is just making my dream that much more impossible to reach.
My brother and his girlfriend had a baby 2 months ago. They applied for a council house and got it. They pay £130 a month rent
. Man, I just can't tell you how unfair that is. Their combined income is about £35000 a year and they pay £130 a month rent. Anyone can do that!
Any of you parents that believe your 18 year old off spring is going to move out ASAP without aid, is just having a laugh. I hate to say it, but when my mother passes will be next opportunity, and thats what this country is coming to.

God should have branded us and put model numbers on us. Then I could say something like "Hey, I hear your looking for a 71 mk1 Ford Escort with less than 100,000 miles, thats me!"
The general problem with using the "I'm not your type" argument is that its a universal excuse. Like "I'm doing my hair tonight". Being a man myself I can take it on the chin and respect the womans wish that what she really means is that her train doesn't stop at my station.

Why Can't Airplanes Take-off/Land In Fog.

A computer can land a plane sure. It can avoid all obstacles sure.
The problem is that technology is not in place so that computers can see the other obstacles. Although they can identify within centimetres where the actual runway is in fog.

Well I am a self confessed 35 yo bloke who lives with his mother.. But my circumstances are probably quite unique. I've been married before but I skipped to the USA in 2000 for 6 years and lived completely alone for 2 of those, came back and couldn't afford a house. They like tripled in value. If a woman wants to laugh in my face that I live with my mother, I think thats better than living my life in debt. I'd move out in a heartbeat if the circumstances allowed it.
In most cases, I don't see it being any different from having a room mate. Independence is over rated, unless you have dependants.

The argument is not whether or not something is worth getting into debt over, the argument as stated in post 1 is that we pay more than other countries for the exact same goods.

I'm not inclined to believe what most of you have said.
VAT aside, there is no reason why we as a nation cannot compete with other countries prices. So lets say 15% over the price of USA goods.
Britains industry is owned mostly by foreign tycoons. A Jaguar built in Coventry is sold for 30%+ less in the USA than it does from the closest Jaguar dealership in Coventry where the car was built. When I left the USA last year the cheapest X type Jaguar was $30k plus tax. So say $33,300 ish. Thats about £15,150 right now. Try and find a brand new Jaguar X-type in Coventry for that
.
The problem is the UK governments wants to label almost everything a luxery. You drive a car, thats a luxery, you have a big house (or own any house at all), thats a luxery, you want a few beers down the pub, thats a luxery.
In the UK every pound you spend could go at least twice the mileage elsewhere. My friend just came from Portugal and spent about £4 a day on food, got fish, fruit, meat.. anything you like. A week later we went to Bognor Regis, weather was crap, bought a long sausage and a portion of chips twice.. Came to something like £6. We grow our own potatoes.
What this country needs to do is turn 100% industrial. I don't even go to town anymore for fear of getting raped on car park tickets and seeing everything with a 40% mark up that it is online.
If your buying a PS3 and you don't mind not having ps2 UK compatibility go to -
www.videogamesplus.ca (they ship to the UK)
If you want good service on TV's or other electronics go to -
www.empiredirect.com or www.robertwhiteled.com
Mega savings on shop prices and they throw freebies in as well.

how do you know if someone is out of your league
Posted:
9/3/2007 10:05:05 PM
I would say 80% of everyone is out of your league. About 5% are in your league and the other 15% are "maybe" in your league.
The top 5% of one sex will desire the top 5% of the other sex, will have many companions in life and probably never settle down. Will more likely settle down with one of the 15% "maybes" than any of the top 5% of the other sex.
If your one of the 80% most ugliest, don't worry because 80% of the opposite sex are around the same ugliness as you! So you have more choice because no matter what the face looks like, you can have a big arse, small arse, athletic, well rounded.. the options are limitless. You'll probably get a few rashes of bacon instead of a stick of celery for breakfast if you spend the night.
More often than not, you'll be treasured by those out of your league and treated like shit by those who are in your league. Leagues become apparent when you ask yourself if you want a movie star, or want to be treated like one! No matter what shape or form you take.
Amen to that.

Trimmings = Meeting somewhere neutral, reading a menu, eating nice food brought to you on a platter whilst enjoying pleasant conversation.
My meetings were more like -
"yeah, come over, but bring a bottle of wine".. Then talk, have a laugh together... The first one lasted 3 months on a friendship level. The other 2 were one nighters, but not in the sexual sense. I never go for the kill on the first night because i'd like to know if there is a chance of something more than that, if i've already established the right sort of attraction of course.
I was lucky though with 2 of them. The reason they invited me over is because we knew some of the same people. Just never met each as a result of that. Which is weird really.

For someone who saw his ex wife go from duck to swan, I can assure anyone who is reading this that if you are neglected by someone in the first instant. Its much better than being taken in, falling helplessly in love only to have someone else snatch them away from you later.
At least if your neglected in the first instant, its not your fault.

A certain % of relationships only exist until something better comes long. If your away from your spouse for long periods, it will be sooner rather than later. I once managed 3 months without but I called her every single day. As long as there was hope I would have waited forever.

Well I wouldn't go that far. Most of my encounters with women from this site have been home visits and such (bring a bottle of wine etc). Not a full blown date with all the trimmings. Besides all 3 live within 5 miles of me.
Thanks for the kind words though.

how do u handle being a virgin past 25

I lost my virginity quite late on and I didn't come clean at all. Must be a natural or something
I must admit though, once passing 20 as a V I thought my time would never come and it does sort of burden you. Now i've been there and done that, its nothing to me anymore beyond a form of acceptance.
And for those that say "its just sex", obviously your getting too much. Most women that I meet want you to fight hard to get in their knickers. Well maybe thats just me.

Being a man I could cheat quite easily. But if I did the first thing I would do is own up.
It's one thing to do the deed but your an evil person if you can live with it on your conscience whilst going back to your other half. And "no" I wouldn't expect to be forgiven.
To date, I have never cheated on anyone sexually. Its almost happened on 2 occasions but once I was drunk. The other time I was a coward to tell the lady I was with that I didn't want her. I wanted the lady I almost slept with.

You can argue all you want. On the basis of getting to know someone from the internet, the leagues exist wether or not you want them to.
Its like shopping in real life or shopping on the internet. In real life you see something you like and you make a instant judgement on the purchase because it might not be there tomorrow. On the internet there is a pricechecker function for alot of goods, so where you might see the product you want, you have 200 other places that do it cheaper and it will be there for an eternity.
I can't believe people on the internet would pick an uglier person on the basis of some quality that is deeper than skin on the basis of one IM or PM.

how do you know if someone is out of your league
Posted:

I think the way this site is constructed has alot to do with the "league" business. Alot of it I think is overkill and unnecessary.
Example -
Favourites - If a woman has 1500 favourites, I move along. If she hasn't found what she is looking for out of all those men (obviously alot of them better looking than me) whats the point. (ie out of my league and probably on this site to waste time).
No Fee's - Because this site is free, nobody has nothing to lose, you might as well wait an eternity to find the PERFECT partner because you have nothing to lose. I'm just a little fish in a big pond and I'm going to be ignored. Again, there are so many time wasters (probably male ones too).
IM's and Private messages - All of the women that I have met get really tired of getting IM's on here from people wanting one night stands. Isn't it possible to remove that feature and just swap MSN's/yahoo ID's? Private messages as well, you send a message, it gets deleted either read or unread. Some of us guys write quite a bit in them and they get heavily ignored. So then you just say "hi" instead and thats not enough. So I don't know what to say on that. All these things can make someone believe "they are out of my league" or again "time wasters".
Non related website arguments -
A woman (I know this is very one sided) would rather date a good looking man with high risk attached than giving anyone else a chance. Since this site is global and there are so many "non desirables" on here, the webmaster might as well just delete them profiles.
I had a little conversation with one lady on here. She said "I don't want to date you because your not my type, you'd know if you saw some pics of my exes". Then closed the window in a big strop. It didn't bother me, she was rather pissed when I told her I met 3 women on here and she hadn't met anyone.
I only get a message once a week, sometimes once a month. But you can guarantee I would reply no matter what. To be perfectly honest this site sometimes makes me feel worse than it does better.

I just watched the news and they said Crystal Meth is now in big demand in the UK. That stuff is scary and i've seen what it does to people in America. It is highly addictive in every sense of the word and if taken for long durations can add 40 years to your skin in about 3 years.

Funniest thing ever happened to you during sex?

When I lived with my ex wife we lived in a semi detached house. The houses were designed so that the master bedrooms were only seperated by a wall.
Well i'm banging away like steam locomotive except the steam was coming from my ears (it was a hot day and the windows were open, about 3pm) and shes crying out loud "harder, faster, more" etc. Well 5 minutes into it the couple living next door were bashing the wall in, so I stopped and listened and heard them going at it ten to the dozen as well. So I put on my spiderman outfit and gave him some of his own medicine and started bashing the wall down from the other side.
So all I can hear at this point is "bam, whomp, yes, harder, whomp, bam yes, harder".. We tried different tempos and positions but the other guy gave up.

My statement was taken completely out of context but thats my fault. It wasn't a generalisation that all cannabis users were mentally ill. It was in fact a metaphoric statement related to how they react under pressure when dying for a smoke. Irate and pissed off to be exact.
That is why I apologised. Sometimes I think I was born to stir things up
. In reality my tolleration for cannabis users is very high but I can't get decent conversation out of them so I thought i'd ask here since the subject was already initiated.

My experiences go as far as weed and speed (once only).
As I see it, a user defending the useage of any drug is just silly. You have decided to indulge and let that be your world. You don't have to influence non users to partake in the experiment or justify to others why you take it yourself.
It works the other way I suppose, so I am a hypocrite. As long as this thread contains extremists from both sides of the argument its not going to solve anything.
On another note, does anyone openly smoke or take drugs in front of their family? I have noticed in my neck of the woods people take great precautions not to expose their habit in front of parents and children. That tells me the users use the argument of "what they don't know won't hurt them" but soon enough those kids your bringing up will automatically accept what your doing and do it themselves.
I am so happy that my son is not brought up in this area and his mother has the same stance on drugs that I do.

League to me = Level of acceptance.
I will be honest, due to my looks I don't even get a reply from most women I contact on this site. There are 200 million women all looking for one guy and I don't have that jackpot ticket. If I did I wouldn't be on this site at all.
Acceptance on this site is based purely on looks, what you say and your timing. It has very little to do with what your like in the real world because everyone will have a conversation with me in the real world.
I've met 3 women on this site in real life, none of them went anywhere although I do IM them from to time to time. I went to the camping meetup in Chichester and met some really nice ladies, had a dance about and lots of fun.
The fact remains that because of the nature of internet dating, if your going through all the trouble to meet a complete stranger it will most likely have to be worth it on the grounds of your pic. If you go to a meet up like i did, where your not the focus of attention you will find a more relaxed and flexible atmosphere. The last time I talked about fun it had "UNIVERSAL" appeal.

Firstly i'd like to apologise if I have upset anyone in the above posts.
I've seen one or two of my friends grow up to hate drugs in any shape or form. But society in my area has since accepted drugs in its many forms and so have they (in the past 5 years or so).
It just so happens there is a weed drought in this area at the moment and its quite amusing to me how many people are talking of "gasping for a smoke". I wonder if this is to pave the way for more Cocaine usage as its become the fashion drug of choice for dealers.
I speculate drugs to be accepted completely in the next 10 years, even the UK police are done with it because it takes up too much of their time. I just hope when the well runs dry there is some people that are less aggitated than the average cannabis user who can't find a rizla to roll up a joint.

Cannabis is addictive in many ways. Firstly its curosity addiction, secondly its pschycoligical addiction and lastly its a social addiction.
My brother smokes it all the time and every single person he knows on a social level does it too. I mean if you were the one person out of a big group that didn't do it, you would be sitting there twiddling your thumbs (like me). And if like me you listen in to all these conversations its all about "whos got the good stuff" or "whos got any more". Basically everyone is not only smoking it but talking about it as well.
I've also seen how up tight people can get if they don't have rizla and the petrol station is closed. I mean its ridiculous. Its like everything you ever dreamed of doing, you have to be smoking a spliff whilst doing it just for that extra something. Personally I think the whole lot of you are just mentally ill and don't even realise it. You guys have made smoking drugs a part of your well being.

These sure-to-be-effective cookies apparently make your breasts bigger when you eat just two a day, while most cookies will just make your ass bigger.

Do you do drugs?

My ex wife wanted to try some years ago, thats the only £10 I ever spent on any sort of illegal drug.
I am surrounded by people that do it though, in fact I think i'm alien not doing it.
Pantsonfire makes a good point that your more likely to be temped if you are exposed to people that do it regulary. I've probably puffed on 3 spliffs in the past 10 years so my willpower is holding out.

I had fun but I'm burnt pretty badly. It was worth it though.
I just wanted to say thankyou to Nikita and Roy (everyone was great :) ), both of whom made me feel very welcome. I will try to make the effort to come to other get togethers.

That 0845 number on the 1st page got me through to a caravan salesman
We had a little joke. So nobody else got him then?
He gave me the number 01243 787715.
Apparently I didn't need to book as there will be tons of room with the Chilli party.
I am bringing one guest. So 2 ppl if you include myself.
I have signed up on the 1st page. What time shall I arrive? Or does it not matter?
Thanks,
Richard.

I'm trying to organise a party of 2 or 3, including myself. That will be 3 male adults.
There are 5 pages on this thread, apart from booking it at the top of page 1, is there anything else I need to know?
