Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings

im suprised that boyband music isn't tied to killings. That music is so shite and meaningless that it should drive sex deprived males into killing sprees

Song Writers

i write my own songs too and i (attempt) record them hehe... im not a great singer but making music is one of the things i've always wanted to do since i was a young teenager.
As i write its a little like building a wall... If i come up with something i like while playing guitar i will write odd bits of lyrics and come up with vocal melody and build as i go. Some lyrics are a matter of improv. I like to record them early as sometimes i will forget the vocal melody and somtimes would improvise lyrics as i go... listen back and alter.

Red House Painters - Medicine Bottle
Posted:
12/1/2008 4:24:05 PM
another lyric from one of my fave bands....bit of a long one
Red House Painters - Medicine Bottle
Giving into love
And sharing my time
Letting someone into my misery
I told it all step by step
How I landed on the island
And how I swam across the sea
And it crosses my mind
That I may wake to a knife in me
No more breath in my hair
Or ladies' underwear
Tossed up over the alarm clock
Blood dripping from the bed
To a neatly written poem
A heartfelt last line reading:
"There is no more mystery
Is it going to happen my love?"
"There is no more mystery
Is it going to happen my love?"
It's all in my head, she said
Morning after nightmare
"You're building a wall," she said
"Higher than the both of us
So try living life
Instead of hiding in the bedroom
Show me a smile
And I'll promise not to leave you"
It happened under a rainy cloud
Passing through the dark south
We went into a big house
And slept in a small bed
I didn't know you then
As well as you of me
We talked of our sad lives
And we went off separately
And we went off separately
I found your overseas souvenirs
Holiday greeting cards
And some long forgot high school fears
"It's all in my head," I said
Banging a piano
I've not been so alone, I thought
Since kicking in the womb
I drank so much tea
I wrote my letters in Kanji
Around the block I walked and walked
Pretending you were with me
Not wanting to die out here
Without you
The hurting never ends
Like birthdays and old friends
We forget that this flesh blood and bone is human
Trading phone lines for airlines
Unwilling to face
That love is found on the inside
Not the outside
And like a medicine bottle
In the cabinet I'll keep you
And like a medicine bottle
In my hand I will hold you
And swallow you slowly
As to last me a lifetime
Without holding too tight
I do not want to lose
The thrill that it gives me
To look out from my window
And scowl at the houses
From my world in the bedroom
"It's all in his head," she read
In her girlfriend's self-help book
"It's all his own making
A war with himself
Like two sides of a war
That separates two countries
He shuts out the world
And wants only to love you"
Not wanting to die out here
Without you

American Music Club - Apology for an accident
Posted:

one of my fave songs by my fave band...
American Music Club - Apology for an accident
When you left you took all memory of me with you
Leaving me with no hope of ever being loved
And now like the air I’m blowing and blowing
With no hope of ever being seen
Did you hear the one about Mr. Ed
Well he said, “I’m this way because of the things I’ve seen
But I would rather count on your love instead
Daily eating my weight in hay.”
And I hate to see a good thing just go to waste
Honey it’s a little weak for my taste
Well I’ve been praying a lot lately
It’s because I no longer have a TV
Just a fluorescent hangover to light the way
Between the things you say and the things I see
I just called you up to see If you wanted to go out
and drink a little wine
And waste some time on a roller coaster ride
But you say it’s too dangerous to lead an empty life
And I hate to see all your sweet words just go to waste
But honey they’re a little weak for my taste
Well I’m an expert in all things that nature abhors
Your look of disgust when I touched your skin
And I try to figure what the world needs me for
So I replay the scene again and again
And I can see you try and put me in my place
Honey that’s a little weak for my taste

DADF#BE
ive wrote a few songs in this tuning, a tuning i learned from the band red house painters. I wasnt sure what tuning it was so i looked it up in 'mark hansons complete book of alt tunings'
The singer of that band is mark kozelek, a guy everybody needs to hear for his diversity in alt tunings....also ani difranco too shes great
EADF#BE is a lute tuning but was turned 3 stps higher; GCFADG
EADGCF i learned from a singer/songwriter that uses it called mark eitzel. Very weird
popular among jazz players
rivermusicman try dropping the B to an A DADF#AD For an open D tuning, one of my favourite tunings, I cant play slide guitar at all, i just like to experiment in other tunings as they always feel better than standard tuning

i like to alternate tune guitar and discover chords from songs that i have tried to learn from songs that are in alternate tunings ( like mark eitzel, mark kozelek etc ) and then try to figure out more chords, capo on 9th in DADF#AD tuning etc... Make it up as i go along so to speak. .....

The music of The Smiths.
Posted:

the above user ^ obviously not heard much of the smiths ?
Yes moz is quite depressing, can be at least but there is interlectural humour in his lyrics too
The songs are not dreay though.. well i would say that wouldnt i? since i love the smiths. They were upbeat and jangly
Panic(hang the dj etcetc) isnt even one of thier best imo
Marr is a great guitarist, smiths had a unique way of putting the songs together. marr can not take all the credit... His stuff other than smiths bores me

What does everyone think of Avril Lavignes Girlfriend video?
Posted:
7/11/2007 5:41:25 AM
instantly at start of the song i am thinking of that eighties song " hey mickie "
dont like it the song at all, dont like her music whatssoever. Video is ok and funny in places but music videos are pointless imo
People can argue over whether she is "punk" or not, but theres one word that describes her place in the music buisness....

survival of the fittest?
bollocks, music today is Targeted and Marketed. Its obsene, people like simon cowell etc p**s all over the music buisness and contoll it. True you cant make a professional sounding record at home. But i would rather not make it in the music buisness than be a sell out peice of s**t
I make music because its expression not because i want to sound " professional"

Christian rock - a turnoff?
Posted:
6/19/2007 4:21:05 AM
I am non religious. So christianity on a whole is a slight turn off. Though i take part in christmas as it seems the regular thing to do after all these years, i do not follow it. Its not just christian rock but other like cliff richard etc, i cant bare to listen to these songs. Preaching the word in music just seems generic. I imagine all christian rock bands playing gigs for free hehe, you know money is the root of all evil and all that. Dont you wonder why in church they send around the money tray?
money is the root of all evil, please make a donation.

The Frozen River
Time is a face on the water
And i can feel it slip away
In a river that must eventually branch off
Dwindle away and soak into dirt
Under the greyest of skies
In my disguise I slip away
The sailor he drowns but no one throws out the line
Bypassed like a leaf in a stream
In this wintery storm you may find
Me by the river frozen still
My heart hasn’t stopped but it is freezing
And the cold will never leave my bones
My time is a crack in the frozen river
Unsafe to trust the water
But I must try to cross anyway I can
Because no one can save me
From myself

i use fostex mr-8HD. I used to record seperate tracks into PC via soundcard. I found the quality to be not that good. The fostex 8 track is a god send. Good thing i like about is that you can record 4 tracks simultaneously.
