Ex-girlfriend won't give back deceased mothers ring
Posted: 11/20/2012 2:50:17 PM
If you get the ring back you might want to keep it in the family. I was willed my maternal grandmother's ring, my mother's ring, and recovered my wife's ring after the accident. My older daughter gets her mom's ring. My younger gets my mom's when she is of age. My grandmother's will go to my first granddaughter, assuming I ever have one. If not, it will go to my oldest niece, the older daughter for my oldest sister.

What have you learned from this rollercoaster ride we call life?
Posted: 11/20/2012 9:37:16 AM
Funny thing is, after all these years what I learned in a Ray Stevens song when I was a kid is the compelling truth for me. "Everything is beautiful in its own way."

Why do married people say this?

Probably because they have difficult marriages. Just follow your own path.

To the OP. She went out with the guy knowing that he would not pay for a meal that contains meat. She then ordered a burger? It's on her. She should have declined the date. He was not imposing his ways on her. If anything, she was trying to impose her ways on him by attempting to force him to violate his conscience.

I don't mind being in the friend zone because most of those females have female friends.

Because women hold all the power.

Great Guitar Players You May Never Heard Of...

I know a lot of Deep Purple fans who hate the Blackmore's Night stuff, but I like it a lot. What they did to "Ocean Gyspy" is incredible.
Ritchie's playing is still incredible, and he finally seems happy.

…not a single mention of Adrian Belew. You people need to get out more.
Perhaps no-one thought of Belew as a 'guitarist you may never have heard of'?
Yeah, it never would have crossed my mind either that Belew could be considered unknown.

OP, perhaps he's checking to see if he's wasting his time. Maybe he is looking for something enduring and is unsure you are doing the same.

Why do people hate their exes?
Posted: 10/17/2012 1:12:24 PM
I have several friends who are exes. One I dated in 1982 and again in 1987. Another I dated for most of 1986. Another I dated from 1988 to 1989 and then again in 1991.

Posted: 10/17/2012 9:03:17 AM
You need to move to OC. I'm in my last year before the big 5-0 and I have no problem dating. Finding a LTR is a bit more problematic, but dates are easy.

Your mother lives with you, not vice versa, so while it will turn off some women it doesn't have the 30 year old loser stigma.

Older Men with Small Children
Posted: 9/27/2012 9:46:43 AM
Do men mark "open/undecided" on their profiles so women with small children will know they (men) are open to dating them?
Probably. I have an almost 9 year old at home and I skip over everyone who has "Does not want children" assuming they are not interested.

I dated a girl when I was 18, then again when I was 23. The timing was wrong for us both times, but we've remained friends throughout the years and if she ever decided to move back to California I would be open to it.

I noticed someone mentioned Phil Keaggy. I would check out all of his stuff, but beware he does a lot of electric as well.
I also noticed some mentioned Segovia. The master. One of my favorite classical players is Chris Parkening.

Unable to afford child support, any advice ????
Posted: 9/21/2012 4:27:22 PM
Work on getting employed. In most states that child support continues to grow and will stack up quickly.
Look for legal help. A lot of firms offer pro bono (no cost to you) legal help as part of their structure. It is great PR for them, and it allows their associates to get trial experience.
Your not being able to make it the court is a big black mark in the eyes of the legal system, so you will need that legal representation in order to get the judge to hear your reasons for missing. If they are as reasonable as presented, you should be able to get a modification and a lot more visitation that you are getting.

New ID voter law?
Posted: 9/17/2012 2:09:15 PM
The popular vote doesn't matter but generally follows how the college votes. It has been upstaged three times:
1876- R.B. Hayes was elected after losing the popular vote.
1888- B. Harrison was elected after losing the popular vote.
2000-G.W. Bush was elected after losing the popular vote.
It could be argued that Kennedy in 196o as well, since most of the Democratic votes in Alabama were for uncommitted Electors who were specifically pledged to not vote for JFK. Those votes are normally counted as his, but if they are not (and they should not be) Nixon actually had a plurality.
As for Voter ID... I was opposed till I saw the research on the Minnesota Senate Election in 2008. Does not mean I blanket support every voter ID law out there, but I do support the idea in general.

Savatage - One of the most unique metal bands ever. They had an unmistakable signature sound, rich in atmosphere and musicianship.
Definitely. Thankfully the embers flamed the creation of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and some of the best Christmas music of the past century.

jose u r a twat!
what is the difference between dating and marriage.. and as i said before.. even if 2 people have a child together that child should come first too!!
What is the difference between dating and marriage? Is that even a serious question? You should get a dictionary. You might also consider looking up "decorum" while you are at it.

Assuming all things are equal, while dating the child should come first. After marriage the spouse should have priority.

Black women and white men

A lot of people refuse to date outside of their race. For me it doesn't matter. If she and I are compatible I don't care if she's younger, older, black, white, brown, red, yellow, green, or whatever. It the heart not the epidermis that matters.

How young is too young?
Posted: 9/5/2012 10:47:28 AM
It depends on the person. My last SO is 31. She was raised by her grandparents who are now in their 80's so she thought nothing of the almost 18 year age difference. Someone the same age whose parents are young would probably consider me off limits.
I also dated a 62 year old who looked probably 15 years younger. The age difference didn't bother me, but the fact that I have a minor child at home nixed it.

Giving her my number discreetly?
Posted: 8/30/2012 9:13:12 AM
Why is Friday your last chance? Anyway, since you are too shy to ask her for hers or give her yours directly give her a little greeting card (thank you, not too out there flirty, whatever) and sign it with your name and number. But don't be too surprised if she doesn't respond. You might be misreading it. A good server will be very friendly because it maximizes tips.

does online dating foster grass is always greener mentality?
Posted: 8/28/2012 3:40:29 PM
Some people think they NEED a new car every year or two. Some will drive a car without changing the oil or doing basic maintenance till it falls apart. Others will drive a car, take care of the maintenance, and keep repairing it till it dies completely.
Now apply this to relationships, but be aware that there is not a necessary one-to-one translation. My dad needed a new car every year, but was married to my mom for 40 years till she passed. Some people are always looking for a new partner. Some take advantage of a person till the person gets fed up. And some nurture and care for the other person and it lasts a lifetime.

What kind of response rates are other guys seeing here?
Posted: 8/28/2012 3:21:22 PM
About 80%. Of course I actually read the entire profile carefully before writing and I don't carpet bomb with a generic letter. I probably write one letter for every 20 profiles I read. The rest are mostly fine, just obviously not a match and I don't want to waste my time or hers.

Why wont a mother see there child?
Posted: 8/28/2012 12:40:47 PM
I resurrected this thread because my friend is dealing with this situation. Mom was with the little one every day for the first six years, then one day decided to move out and party. At first she would go by two or three times per month, but now has not come by for almost a year. Sometimes people make their own pleasure the most important pursuit in life and do not care whom they hurt. Sometimes it is neurological. Sometimes it's drugs.

3 Strikes - out. No more widowers !
Posted: 8/28/2012 10:28:58 AM
Are they really over the loss? Will they ever be over the loss?
You never get over that type of loss. You do learn to live with it. That doesn't make the person incapable of loving another. Just make sure the person isn't still trying to grasp a shadow.
Would I just be replacing someone they wish they were still with?
This could be asked about almost any relationship. A person could be grieving over a divorce or a breakup from a LTR that he or she did not want and be just as guilty. Who over 40 hasn't been in a rebound relationship?
The biggest danger with us widows and widowers is that some might tend to idealize the lost spouse. No living person can compete with a memory that has been stripped of all faults.
