Lloyd, I am so, so sorry about the loss of Magnum. You were lucky to have each other.

I miss her so much!

Happy Birthday! I hope you're doing something special to celebrate!
I never had the chance to know either of my grandmothers, but you are very lucky to have had your Nana! She gave you 100% pure unconditional love, and that is something to be cherished. The 6th anniversary of my father's death was a week ago, so I understand where your thoughts are - I'd say I'm generally a happy and upbeat person, having inherited my dad's "optimism gene". But there were bittersweet moments as the anniversary date rolled around.
{{{{Big hugs}}}} to everyone who's ever loved someone and lost them. And
to everyone in this incredible community.

Long hair on older women

I'm 51 and about 80% gray. I grew in the gray, after some vascillating, and could not be happier with it. I'm a happy Silver Tabby, with awesome and truly original streaks. The downside is that as my hair changed colour, it also changed texture and is now wavy and bushy when it used to be silky and slippery. So I've decided to go short for the time being. Since I have delicate facial features, too much hair is overpowering, but a Halle Berry-esque pixie cut shows off my streaks to their best advantage and frames my face.
Everyone's gotta do what's best for them, and what's best for me is NOT a poodle perm and ginger-ale-coloured hair!

Over 50-Where do you go when you are lonely?

The supermarket or Wal-Mart are great places to interact with people. I "read" mens' shopping carts and if it looks like they're single (not buying feminine protection or sugary cereals is a good tip-off), then I can start a conversation. I tend to freeze up at dances and other meat-market-y events, but when I'm in my natural habitat, I'm relaxed and comfortable in my own skin, even if I'm wearing my grungiest sweats.

Good Song to help move on

Since I am in the throes of recovering from a break-up, I've been tweaking my playlist a bit.
A classic by Kim Stockwood:
You Jerk
Since you've been gone I feel so much better
Cause I saw how mean you could be
I used to want some explanation
Now all I want is my Patsy Cline CD
How I've waited for today
When I could finally say
You jerk
You jerk
You are such a jerk
There are other words
But they just don't work
Sometimes I wish I'd mailed you that letter
That said the things I dare not say
Instead I set the thing on fire
I had to say this outloud anyway
I'm so glad I found the nerve
To say what you deserve
You jerk
You jerk
You are such a jerk
There are other words
But they just don't work
They try to be so cool
Insult you like a fool
Never take your call when you're nobody at all
Until you're somebody and then they want to be your friend
How come jerks don't know they're jerks
(I don't know)
So next time someone makes you feel little
Just sing this song inside your head
And like a great big cartoon bubble
These lovely words will dance above their head
How I've waited for today
When I could finally say
You jerk
You jerk
You are such a jerk
There are other words
But they just don't work
You jerk
You jerk
You are such a jerk
There are other words
But they just don't work
And this always cheers me up:
Artist: Joey Ramone Lyrics
Song: Stop Thinking About It Lyrics
Stop thinking about it
Stop thinking about it
Stop thinking about it
Stop thinking about it
Dwelling is driving me crazy
Obsessing don't you know where that's at
Yeh, you don't know what you want but you want it
Stop thinking about it (4x)
This world is driving you crazy
Baby don't you know where that's at
Yeh, you don't know what you want but you want it
Oh oh oh oh oh you don't know what you want but you want it
Stop thinking about it (4x)
Ahh nothing lasts forever
And nothing stays the same
Feeling numb all over
And totally deranged
When you finally make your mind up
I'll be buried in my grave
O yeah o yeah o yeah
Allright
You don't know what you want
You don't know what you need
You don't know what you want but you want it

How do I get over my anger towards a cheater?
Posted:

I'm a Cheated-On Club Member, too - my ex admitted to me last week that he'd been dating someone else while we were in an "exclusive long-distance relationship". So I don't think it's a coincidence that I came acros this wise and supportive thread.
One of the other posters alluded to it, and I really hate to sound like the "Flavour of the Month", but I read "The Secret" last night and I am trying to focus on finding my soulmate, rather than having the ex suffer from a variety of creative and excruciatingly painful incidents. I am also trying to find the element of positives in this, so here's my list, FWIW:
I now get to find someone who can really be as into me as I am into him, for a true partnership relationship;
I have the joy of discovering that POF not only gets thru my anal-retentive firewall at work but has an MB community so I can play!
I had some fun experiences while we were dating, and this enhanced my life (I half-jokingly told my mom that my eulogy would contain the following line: "Rachel's passport contained many stamps from her travels due to Internet dating".)
I get to demonstrate my resilience and strength, and this will ultimately make me appear a more confident person who will attract The Right Man for Me.
I learned the valuable lesson that relationships, like flower gardens, require constant tending and TLC or they will develop weeds. I will keep this in my consciousness from now on.
I also learned that I deserve better. The Right Man is out there, and we're gonna rock each others' worlds as soon as we meet.
Yup, I'm spin-doctoring this like crazy, but it's better than more crying, right?
