Long hair on older women
Posted:

I had very long hair til the age of about 35. I cut it shoulder length because for some reason I thought it was a good idea.
It stayed shoulder length for many years til the gray was so prominent that it was more gray than my natural auburn.
Now at 45, my hair is mostly gray. A really ugly salt and pepper gray that is very coarse and so different from my auburn hair.
So I cut it short and I dye it. I would love to go back to long hair, but I never will. Trying to keep long hair colored is very time consuming and expensive.
If your hair is not gray, or stringy or dirty, long hair is beautiful .
But IMPO, there is nothing uglier than an older woman...or man for that matter with long gray hair. Ewww...its just ugly and silly looking.

My top 5 dream destinations. In no particular order. I would choose any of them in a heartbeat.
1. Cambodia (back to...been there once)
2. Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
3. Iceland and/or Greenland
4. Egypt
5. Rome and Vatican City

Has anyone NEVER had a ONE NIGHT STAND?
Posted:

I have never had a one night stand. Can't say that in my younger days I wouldn't have, it just never happened.
Now, I wouldn't, no question, just cause its not who I am. My heart, my priorities and my morals just say different things to me these days.
Doesn't mean I don't have wishful thinking sometimes.
I did, at one time, many, many years ago, for a brief shining few months, have the most divine f**k buddy. No strings attached. Ah the memories. Does that count?

Women Over 40
Posted:
3/8/2007 3:24:16 PM
Over 40 here, ahem...a bout to pass the over 45 mark. Feeling discouragement . I haven't talked to another single human being on here. I was recommended to register on this site by another online friend.
I guess its true tho, if you are honest and truthful, show a picture of the real you. All you get is a big fat nothing.
So I sound bitter? yes, a little bit. Do I sound discouraged? yes.
I am overweight, have fought it, (yes, it is an uphill, mighty battle every day). I know I'm obese, I know what I look like. But I'm active in Church, have a really wonderful group of long time friends and a great family. My calender is full. But I am still so very lonely. I haven't been asked on a date, or approached for male/female conversation in years. I won't say how many.
I guess with most, beauty truly is skin deep. I shower ever day, get regular manicures, pedicures and hair styling. I am southern, and my mama would kill me if I left the house without my makeup on, or a spritz of perfume. I'm a nice person. I'm smart, a professional, self supporting, have a great job. I'm funny. Most ppl like me. Gosh, I am a wonderful friend. Why can't someone look at me as more?? I guess I thought is was partly my age.
It seems most of the men my age are either long time married, if they are not married....85% of them go for women 10-20 years younger.
And so, no one ever talks with me. Am I shy, yes a bit, not one to initiate converstation. Is that my problem.?? I don't think so, but maybe i'm wrong.
I came on here, with a REAL, NEW PICTURE (not a 10 year old pic). Hoping someone would look at it. One month later. Nada. Oh well, no worse off than before. And some of the forums are pretty interesting, funny and pass the time.
So I'm here, but I'm in the "real world" too, every day. In several different social situations.
I'm not hiding. I work in a place with 800 employees, church in a place with 2000 members. Go to blues bars and sports bars with my co-workers. Go on vacations and cruises with my girlfriends. What else am I supposed to do?
Just passing time. Surfing the net. Fishing in uncharted waters.

Catholics and heaven
Posted:

Catholics don't have an automatic pass to heaven any more than anyone else. In my humble opinion, only fanatics and the blissfully ignorant believe in the free pass to the pearly gates. I am a practicing Catholic. Your normal average everyday catholic believes that the way to heaven is belief in the Holy Trinity, belief in Jesus as God and Man. And that you must live a life that follows the teachings of Jesus, the ten commandments and to a lessor extent, catholic cannon. You have to practice what you preach, not just talk the talk, but also walk the walk. Sincerely trying to be a better person, and being a living example of His word.
But like all good catholics, I believe that God didn't put me on this earth to be miserable. I believe that when I smile, Jesus is smiling with me. He appreciates a good tipsy, a good ribald joke and a good hi calorie dessert.
Just treat others with kindness and respect.

Introduce Yourself Here.

Hello. I'm Missy, Soon to be 46 y/o women. I'm a native Texan. Live in north central texas about 40 miles north of Dallas. Been single long time.
Tired of being the "5th wheel". My life pretty much revolves around family, work and church. Don't have much opportunity to meet new ppl.
I have a friend from another website who encouraged me to sign up on this site...so here I am.
I live a crazy hectic upside down schedule. Have ya'll ever noticied that the older you get, the old saying "time flies", is truer and truer.
I don't want to be flying alone for the next 30 years.
Here's hoping for more laughing, more traveling, more good meals, more great music , more memorable moments, and the energy to keep up!!
