The voices made me do it...

Actually my husband used to often sing his side of conversations with me. I used to tell him that living with him was a bit like being in a musical...you never knew when someone is gonna break into song. I always assumed he was being playful, but based on that bit of research, well, maybe it just helped the poor bugger get in a frame mind where he could understand me
wow this is me and my partner all over!! i sing all the time instead of talking. in a booming operatic kind of a way. then i talk in a deep husky voice ;-)

on the other side of the coin i can share this with you
my profile quite clearly states that i am not looking for anything and that i am here for forums etc yet i get emails from women who have looked at my profile. if i think they sound nice i will happily chat to them yet if we do it for a few days and they ask about my status and i say i am in a relationship etc they get all put out and think that i have misled them! wtf??!!! all we have done is have basic chats which have not touched on any of that stuff and then i am the bad guy cos i wasn't upfront about it even though they looked at my profile and it hadn't been raised in any messages.
some people just need to get a clue and open their eyes.

People need to seriously get over themselves and accept that having diverse, outrageous, even mind raging incited comedy is not a bad thing! even if it is distasteful. heck thats my favourite sort ;-) boundaries will never change if they are never pushed. sometimes they need to be pushed the wrong way to work out what is then the right way

How many kilos have you lost this yr & how many more to go before Xmas ?
Posted:

i have always mainly had to eat lots of food to try and help put ON weight......even went on a dairy and carb diet yrs ago to try and help! ice cream for dinner? why not!
i am now a little heavier but i am pretty active by nature. if anything i do weights to put on muscle and weight and run to just help keep fit. i know if i was overwieght and had to try lose it i would totally suck at it cos my discipline with food sucks big time!!! hence i have loads of respect for people who can lose weight.....without having to smoke!

Visitation stuff!
Posted:

1. What type of access is considered "reasonable" in this situation?
is hard tosay hilly. every situation is different and the age of the kids is erally important. generally physical contact would be integrated ove rtime building up to overnight visits (when kids are young). phone, email, webcam contact etc can all take place in between. there are no right or wrong decisions as to the frequency.
2. Who's responsibility is it financially to absorb the cost of access visits and will the cost of these effect maintenance ?
what was said about 52 nights/yr etc is on the mark here re child support. as for cost of access visits it is possible that both parties be ordered to pay 50/50, but where flights etc are involved the party who moved away may be required to pay most or all of it. financial circumstances are also taken into account.
3. Who's responsibility is it time and effort wise to ensure access?
Despite what people think it is BOTH parents responsibility to ensure it happens. naturally the non-resident parent is the one who needs to take the initiative. but especially when orders are in place the onus is on both parents to comply and make sure the kids spend time with dad 9in this case).
4. Do the children involved get a say in where they would like the access to be?
it always amazes me that people have a magic figure that they wil lgo to their grave saying is the exact one as to when kids get a say. there is no set figure. it depends on the individual case and the development etc of the kids as to what say, if any, they get and the extent of it. it is however fair to say that in most typical cases kids get a very strong say from 14 onwards.
also it doesnt matter whether the kids are interstate or not in terms of getting them back. family law is commonwealth law and applies aust wide, except in wa but it has same laws anyway. u can get a recovery order and, if needs be, the police in the area where the kids are can get them.
some quick points:
* best interests of the kids are paramount. not the parents.
* primary concerns are to keep kids safe from harm and their right to have a relationship with both parents.
* presumption of equal shared parental responsibility. can be rebutted.
there is more to it but i wont go into detail. is just info to help hilly. hope it does. as i would suggest, get specific legal advice on it.
cheers

your problem is that australian men are socially retarded, look at the way we brits treat women, with class and respect, make them feel like the queens that they are, ossie men just conjure up images of sheilas, beer ,crocs and trying to prove their masculinity,so very sad.if your heart desires love and compatability you're in the wrong country!
man we are so going to smash you dumb poms in the ashes!! and mate when we think of sheilas funnily enough we think of british blokes
and as for wanting to prove our masculinity, you couldn't be more wrong! if you and i were in the same place right now i would take you outside for a good ol' fashioned thrashing.
as for OP - talk to us at 2am in the middle of a pub and you will find we are as open as any other nationality on the planet. if other blokes at more "regular" hours are quieter it's only cos we are shy and retiring. oh yeah and socially retarded.

I suppose if the sex workers want to pursue legal remedies, besides those available in contract, there is the discrimination legislation. Another possible remedy is the Trade Practices Act and Fair Trading Acts, which prohibit businesses from engaging in unfair, misleading or deceptive, and unconscionable conduct. If the papers are grossly overcharging sex workers for their advertising costs then I would agree they should pursue legal remedies to stop this practice. On the other hand, litigation is expensive and it may be better to just look for other ways to advertise.
i note your profile says your profession is legal but do you actually practice law or work in the mail room of a law firm? just wondering cos what you say is about as knowledgable as what you would expect from someone who works in a mail room. not that there is anything wrong with working in a mail room of course. as long as ur not giving out legal advice anyway ;-)

How do you really feel about getting old?
Posted:
5/20/2009 7:14:55 PM
what is old?? to a 5 yo its 10, to a 10 yo its 18, to a 18yo its 30, to a 30yo its 60, to a 60yo its 80, to an 80yo - what's the question again??
the simple benefit of getting older is that you at least know u have been guaranteed living for however many yrs it is that you have been alive, whereas younger people dont have such guarantees that they will make it your current age, and therefore may not share in all the experiences you have managed to aschieve. it can only be a positive thing.

Trial by jury
Posted:

I think DPP can appeal
can't appeal an acquittal kev...........can only appeal a conviction.
simply put - "professional" juries - am assuming in a paid capacity - won't work. it currently costs about $10,000/day to run a jury trial. if u then paid every juror in every court a "fair and equitable" wage.........well, u get the picture. gov't will never go for it.

thing is kev if you are on a public forum such as this there is nothing you can do to stop her viewing your messages etc. by choosing to go on a public place like this you basically accept anyone in cyberworld can see waht you say, including an ex.
a restraining order is only between you and her so any choices to be on a public site like this prevents you from requesting she not be allowed to join, read what u say etc. if she contacts you directly on here, that could be a different story altogether.

Dating A Virgin
Posted:
4/8/2009 12:04:46 AM
Guys do exist meg who are prepared to wait and respect a girls wishes that she doesnt want to rush and jump into having sex - whether or not she is a virgin. As said above, it may well take you a few tries to find the right guy but, for you at this time in your life, if he isn't willing to wait well then he isn't the right guy for you in the first place, so nothing lost. I know when i was your age having sex is obviously a huge thing for guys and so makes it even harder to find someone who is more mature in his thinking and respecting of your needs. But, that is all part of the test which helps us define who we are and what is important to us. ie not having sex with a guy until you are ready versus having sex to please him but not really wanting it.
i can relate to your situation cos it sounds like i was the same - had the whole religion thing as my reason but then that slowly changed around when i was your age which makes things harder, especially when you want it to be with someone special, not just some random. The only thing you can do is follow what your instincts and thoughts tell you is the right thing and trust, that growing up, you have been instilled with the virtues and traits which will help you make the right decisions going forward in your life. But remeber that you will do things which you regret etc, but don't beat yourself upf over it. Afterall, being human is about making mistakes and hopefully learning from them! It's all part of the fun - so i am told
Peace out

Where to now?
Posted:
1/15/2009 5:45:36 PM
i gotta say i have travelled alot around australia and lived in a few different places. for a synopsis:
* grew up in in melb and go back when i can to visit family. great city
* living in nsw for most of last 14 yrs. now living in country nsw.
* lived in the kimberley WA.
* have travelled throughout vic, nsw, qld, sa, nt and north WA and been to perth.
i would have to say the most spectacular place in aust is the kimberley. the country up there is second to none and breathtakingly spectacular. and the storms......magnificent and amazing irredescent colours to experience. i would love to get back there one day all going well. it is very hot in wet season.....makes darwin seem cold. speaking of which, it too is a great place and very easy-going and enjoyable. i also love the sunshine coast in qld. i love beaches and they are great up there and its nice and warm. i hate cold weather.
where i am now will do for the foreseeable future but i would like to live near the water again and be more accessible to the big smoke. it's in the blood. although country living is definitely a great lifestyle choice and far more laid-back, which suits my personality. i just miss the experience of being exposed to, and having available to me, the different cultures that you can get day in and day out living in the city. especially the variety of foods! yum.
in all honesty i think if you want to be country but close to the city then its more difficult with syd and melb these days cos the suburbs sprawl forever now. if i ever move back to the city it will be to richmond in melb - go the tigers!!!

i have some knowledge of the case including the current appeal process.
i think, based on my knowledge of the original trial, including the police investigation, that convictions were always going to be dubious! as with alot of things like this, particularly in america with the way their culture is, someone had to be held responsible and so the 3 guys charged provided good scape goats. my opinion honestly isnt about whether i think they did it or not, but more about due process and justice being done. based on the evidence of the case and the way it was handled, i cant see how you could be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of the 3 guys guilt. and i tend to think americas appeal procees sux. it can be bloody hard to get a case re-opened and new evidence admitted even when there are compelling reasons to do so.
as for the death penalty - its wrong. plain and simple. not only is it inhumane, barbaric and outdated, there are enough cases where they have, and continue to, get it wrong. the incompetence and inexperience of some trial lawyers in america is frightening - no-one should die due to their inability to mount a good case. at least here even with legal aid u still get excellent representation in murder trials.
