Brainy women are less likely to marry?
Posted:

Why on earth do people what to be married in this day and age is beyond belief at times especially when so many relationships end in tears nowadays (hence children suffering the consequences).
I admire women who are in their 30+ never married and no kids, it shows they are sensible and do not to give in to conformist peer pressures.

Apart from metal
Posted:

Good post OP.
It annoys me too plus it makes me laugh when people claim to have a diverse taste in music when they only listen to pop & RnB for example.
I listen to thrash metal, indie rock, techno, rap-core, dance, industrial, goth, electronic, d&b, 70s rock, 80s & 90s pop, ambient, IDM, house, psy, folk etc... I don't care about trends, what is in or not... music/sounds is what ever soothes or excites my mind old or new. I could be moshing to Slayer then dancing to Girls Aloud then tripping to Boards of Canada the next.
Some people become all elitist about lyrical content (or lack of)... Zzzzzz.

What utter nonsense, painting all men with the same brush thinking we all buy shite lad magazines and dumbed down trashy tabloid newspapers.
Maybe it's the men *you know* who are superficial, figures really.
Anyway, I'm off for a wank over the New Scientist.

Yeah I suffer the same at times with women who I feel attracted to, I just put myself under immense pressure and suffer regular brain lapses during mid conversation. I think at times we all put on a "confident act" to impress and fit in but underneath we are like wobbly jellies when in certain situations.
I'm off to do some Tai-chi and meditation... mmmmMMmmmMMMMM!

Industrial music Defined
Posted:
8/7/2009 7:02:08 PM
Bump.
I've noticed a few Industrial/EBM/Dark Electro club nights cropping up where I live in the UK, which is damn cool! I'm so bored of going into clubs playing mainstream dance/pop/rNb so hopefully the trend will continue elsewhere.
I saw Combichrist in London a few months ago, they ooze with such adrenaline!
Also saw NIN in the 02 London in July, anyone here go to it? Gary Newman made a surprise guest appearance which blew me away.

Like with most things, it's all subjective... you love it or hate it.
Music/sounds reflects the mood of an individual, I hear beauty, ugliness, emotions and creativity in all forms of music.
Who is to judge and define a standard for what is good and bad music? (Ok, maybe Simon Cowell does, haha...).

Teenege drinkers, do we encourage them
Posted:

It's probably another case of the sheeple syndrome... "My mates do it, so I do it to fit in", plus there's still this rather sad rife lad and ladette culture in the UK which adopt the binge drinking attitude at weekends as it's deemed the only way to have a good time.
Anyway teenagers are insecure, willing to experiment and easily swayed, we've all been there.

Some people care about the environment and wildlife surrounding them, thus learning to respect and live with it, anything wrong with showing that?
Other people really don't give a shit and see everything as a product item for profit. The sea is being vastly over fished in areas, why do you think tuna is so expensive for example?
Capitalism sucks, I'm off to hug a tree as well.

Should the government stop Gary McKinnon from being extradited
Posted:

Yes, so simply it's a case of his word against the US Government's, vice versa... but the point is, the US have no right, absolutely none to extradite him unless still considered a threat to human lives and um gee man, the American nation, and yes I take his word as fact because I believe what he says in credible and honest in interviews he has held over the years.
Since when does the US government and military ever give (honest) substance to the world to be aired publicly?... but that's a different topic for discussion.

Yes I agree his condition should not be a factor but that is so bloody fickle to be picking up on it for the sake of sidestepping the real issue here. I apologise for the use of utter bollocks... anyway.
He caused damage to 90 computers, and he changed passwords to prevent access to important files.
And you know this because.......
Tic for tac Mr, it's simply what the Americans claim... they have presented
NO EVIDENCE
that he caused $750,000 worth of damage to computers other than finger pointing because of his confession.
They want him extradited probably because of what he saw, he actually did NOT download anything because the connection was so slow (being on dial up modem).
Gary Mckinnon no doubt did the yanks a favour in making them aware to tighten up their military network and not forgetting to change default passwords (d'oh!).

Sorry to be blunt Zeegary but you are writing utter bollocks through out this entire thread for the sake of being totally ignorant and oblivious. You keep on harping about his condition should not be a reason for him to be extradited, yes I agree... so what, let's get back to the real issue.
Elaborate to me what damage he did? What risk was he to
American
lives? Does he belong to a terrorist organisation?
He sought
information
which he saw for reasons of fascination and obsessions... nothing was destroyed and damaged, he had no harmful intentions (if you ever watched him interviewed over the years by reporters). He was merely like an inquisitive child living out a fantasy.
Americans need to literately f**k off and stay in their own land and deal with their own shite far more important than chasing some aspie hacker with information allegedly on "free energy" and "ufos".

What gives the right for Americans to police this world when in reality the actual "crime" was committed on UK soil if you think about it, plus Americans should just let it go... why bother pursuing this unless there's a more sinister reason behind it? Asperger's Syndrome or not, Americans should back the f**k off.
What would happen if a US hacker was caught hacking into the MOD computers? Would the person in mind be extradited to the UK? My f**king big hairy arse....
Silly Tony Blair for being bent over and shafted with a pen. Anyway, I'm off to hack the FBI website because I fancy living in USA for free.
Oh crap, feds knocking on me door... haalp me! halllllpppp! I love Jesus and Americans!!! (insert more exclamation marks here )

Internet memories - not of the romantic kind
Posted:
7/24/2009 3:06:26 PM
Well, somewhat reluctantly admitting... I've been using chat/internet since 1995. I used to go into IRC chat quite a lot which was devoid of spam bots and vanity profiles. My ICQ account I had since 1999 was hacked by some Russian, I only got it back a month ago and he had deleted all of my contacts so I failed to relive the nostalgia there. I used to hang out in Yahoo chat years ago, I entered it again recently and what a surprise, not... it's the same old crap.
OMG - Is it somewhat sad that people spend part of their lives seeking romance and friendship via a keyboard?

Atheists: What are your theories on how *it* all began?
Posted:
7/22/2009 5:26:16 PM
The universe never began... it's in a continuous loop of inflating and deflating like a heart beating, everything is recycled, so I like to believe at the moment, maybe the universe is just one massive lump of organic and cosmic matter therefore a living being its self, we just happen to live in its body. *shrugs*
Our tiny minds are unable to comprehend such things yet anyway, the idea that some "God/Creator" made the "universe" who is apparently male according to some people in this thread makes me think the human race is moving backwards and not forwards, thus may as well belong to Flat Earth Society.

Realistic expectations of finding the One on a dating site
Posted:
7/22/2009 8:33:23 AM
OP - People are deluded thinking "the one" or "mr/mrs right" exists in a short period of time. I've lost count of how many times I've heard from people "I've found the one for me finally" only for them to break up eventually, whether it be weeks, months or years later.
I would rather call someone "the one" or a "soul mate" after something like 20 to 30 years of commitment not one measly week or month! Just adopt a level headed approach with no expectations especially on websites such as this one.
... And what makes women think men want supermodels? Jeez... talk about distorted views, I just what a woman with a flat belly so I can flick grapes into her mouth from her navel.

MSG 90 - What has career status and progression got to do with intelligence?
People tend to brown nose, backstab and f**k their way up the career ladder along with back handers.
On topic though - I think it's utterly bull and backward thinking that hair colour represents level of intelligence in people, people who think that may as well belong to flat earth society.

OP - Well it probably only applies to superficial glamorous luvvy duvvy types...
You really think everyone goes for someone who is "good looking" (which is entirely subjective)? Urgh - I agree with what Swanspirit says also, logical is it not for a stable lasting relationship?
Methinks you need to look deeper beyond (fake) tanned skin and seek the chemistry.
Anyway, I'm off to seek for some busty blonde braindead bimbos for acts of fornication up a tree.
MSG 13 - By any chance do you consider yourself "shallow"? Not sure if you are being serious or this thread is tongue in cheek plus when asking what is this "chemistry business".

I listen to most stuff from thrash metal/rock to cheesy dance to pop to weird electronic and classical, I occasionally indulge in thigh slapping to the best of morris dancing anthems waving a crusty hanky about wearing my PVC Lederhosen
I think though, I would have slight reservations about dating someone who listens to Cliff Richard (maybe I could mix summer holiday with a dNb bass).

join the army and go to Afghanistan
Posted:

1) Taliban, Al'Qaeda etc military training camps are based around the world not just in Middle Eastern countries, attempting to wipe out training camps in Afghanistan will shift them to else where.
2) So it's OK to bomb/nuke/infiltrate a town or a gathering of people hoping that some people amongst the mass of civilians are actually Taliban people? You really think the Taliban would be dressed in a military uniform to identify themselves to UK/USA forces?
3) People in this thread are not having a go at the troops, they are just following orders. Political (ex)leaders (Bush & Blair) are partially to blame for this mess and loss of civilian life. I still fail to see how the label "hero" for a soldier in Afghanistan is justified but still, I have admiration for these people putting their lives as risk but for what purpose, I fail to see clearly.
4) We should instead, bring our troops back home, focus on improving our intelligence and defences against potential terrorist attacks on our homeland.
5) UK/USA forces invading an Islamic country will only feed the fire of anti-Westernism and provoke more attacks in the UK especially from home grown Islamic fundamentalists.
"Defending this country" means to me... is done at home... not in a foreign land.
6) MSG 166 - Umm, do you really think the Taliban have the man and military power to invade the UK and fight an actual war in London? Get real please, the Taliban are sporadic and dispersed as can be... hence labelled "terrorists".

Charity shops

I remember a couple of decades ago, people would frown upon others and take the piss out of someone for shopping in a charity shop or make fun of someone for wearing "oxfam clothing".
I find myself popping in and out of charity shops (so many of them nowadays) and hunting around for bargains, especially for clothes.
Charity shops are no longer a stigma? Definitely in my eyes.

Do women still expect men to do all the chasing nowadays?
Posted:

B/c it's the man's job as it always has been and always should be..... even in nature the males approach the females.
... but that's where you are so wrong, too many people are stuck in this traditional mindset of the male woos the woman (and I thought women wanted equality on par with men).
I still believe, many relationships would of been more successful if women had made the first move.
MSG 9 & 10 - No, I don't like narcissistic women, I think women who want to be chased have over inflated egos and are very needy plus probably overly dependant on men to "look after them".

join the army and go to Afghanistan
Posted:

Repeating myself but... I really would like someone to answer my question.
How is fighting a war in Afghanistan "serving our country" when the threat of terrorism in the UK is home grown? Please someone, educate and convince me the "war" in Afghanistan is justifiable for our troops to be there as it allegedly was in Iraq.
I like to add - How many civilian lives have been lost at the hands of our invading forces in comparison to our military loses? Our are soldiers "heroes", really? They signed up to do a job in a foreign land which I fail to see imposes a threat to the UK, unless again... someone can explain to me other wise, I am open and willing to listen.
For example...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7502137.stm -
47 civilians killed
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/1740538.stm -
3,800 civilians killed by US forces (2002)
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/21/world/asia/21afghan.html
140 civilian deaths rejected by US forces
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7502137.stm
The UN said last month that nearly 700 Afghan civilians had lost their lives in Afghanistan this year (2008)
In comparison the UK has lost
176
or so soldiers in the last...
7 years
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8146327.stm
Please f**king wake up and stop succumbing to biased sensationalist media and military reports. What makes UK/USA soldiers more important and grieve worthy than of a native Afghani?
Why do the media label soldiers fighting in Afghanistan as "heroes"? How many UK soldiers have killed civilians? We will never know but the blood of civilians may be on your sons/daughters hands.

As the title says and to be honest, I've never been the kind of man to pursue a woman for numerous reasons, even online I rarely send out a message first. It seems like women want men to do all the chasing whilst they make absolutely no effort what so ever.
Plus, I just find it off putting when some women expect a man to wine and dine them plus to treat them like a "princess", what on earth does that entail at the man's expense?
Reality check, please.

Who are decent role models these days?
Posted:
7/12/2009 4:30:17 AM
... but this is the big problem with society, celebrities being role models to children and teenagers influencing them to think that being rich and famous is the only way for fulfilment in life, if you ask a child nowadays what they would like to be as an adult they would say " a footballer, a (glamour) model, a TV presenter, a movie star" along with being "rich and famous". Children no longer want to be a doctor, nurse, teacher or some other low key paid career... people are ever increasingly drawn to a materialistic and hedonistic lifestyle because of celebrity influences today.
Sorry but I really fail to see the Beckhams as "Excellent" role models just because they haven't been involved with any crime or whatever, maybe I need to go and start reading tabloid newspapers and celebrity magazines to change my mind about them?
I admire people like Jane Tominlson (RIP), Richard Dawkins, David Attenborough, charity workers, doctors and nurses, people who work voluntarily and so on. If I had children, I would rather they looked up to those kind of people than celebrities.
...but the Beckhams? You got to be laughing, what morals and principles do they have to offer apart from appearing in numerous magazines and photo shoots portraying themselves as a wonderful family.
Society f*cks parents up, parents f*ck their children up.

Who are decent role models these days?

You got to be joking Pants, The Beckhams role models?
No, I'm not being cynical nor have jealously towards them, I have no desires for their lifestyle and financial wealth, just common sense and a level headed approach... how on earth can you say the Beckhams are role models in comparison to many thousands if not millions of other families in this world who live off peanuts and work their arses off to feed their children.
It seems like some people are easily swayed by trashy celebrity magazine/tabloid articles and photo shoots of celebrities holding their children in a brooding manner.
Reality check... please.
Edit - Pants - Where have I mentioned the word "fail"? - The topic is "role models".

It's all entirely subjective depending on the your own morality, religious, political or whatever background.
For me, I admire people who are not obsessed with materialism and money therefore seeking happiness through other means but I do not have any role models, I have no desires to idolize or to be like some one past or present.
Celebrity culture has been and will always be a joke, yet for example... a lot of teenagers want to be like Jordan (Katie Price), urgh because she is rich and famous for getting her boobies out.

What are your favorite activities?

People who say sex/shagging/drinking... urgh, how original! Zzzzzzz - bunch of conformist nubs.
I like watching 1970s documentaries on sheep, birds and flicking a comb across my pubes (whilst looking in a hand mirror). :-)
Why does practically ever thread turn into smut and innuendo?

How much do we blame on porn?

Some men are just stupidly insecure and go OTT about sex from being heavily influenced by porn videos and bragging about "sexual conquests" to one another, thus thinking all women like to be done up the poo chucker and giving a woman a facial load of sex wee. (Is that why I see so many women wearing eye-patches covering one eye nowadays?)
I like sex the traditional way, 1 minute and 5 seconds of stiff horizontial press ups then rolling over and falling asleep with a peck on the cheek.
I must go and count my stamps now...
(Hopefully I might get a message asking me for a shag).
