Traffic fines to be added to ICBC insurance

I too have had a rocky relationship with ICBC..In 1981 I was living in Penticton. The cops had impounded my car on behalf of ICBC as they stated that I had been involved with a hit and run in Surrey. At the time of this incident I was down in Idaho on vacation and all my room mates swore that my car remained parked in front of the house the whole time I was gone. I found out through the police that ICBC put a warrant out for my vehicle after they had three eye witless's get a partial license number and partial description of my car then tried various combination of that description until they came up with mine...It took 3 years, various nasty calls from 2 different case workers and going to my ombudsman (who at that time was the head of icbc) to get my safe drivers record returned to normal as well as the cost of my car ( I had to sign it over to the towing company as the fine to get it out happened to be more than the value of my car.) In the end, my file had mysteriously dissapeard and the case workers were no longer working at ICBC.
Four years ago I moved back to BC after 10 years in Alberta. The third year I couldn't afford to pay for car insurance in Calgary for almost 8 months, in Alberta, if you don't have insurance for 6 months or more you lose any discount earned and have to start over and pay the 100% of the insurance. You only get this the first year then start your discounts the second year. Then I come back to BC and ICBC says....well because you didn't have insurance for over 6 months you lose your 43% discount and now my discount is 30%. So I ask for clarification: (get this) I can earn my discount back at 3% per year! So I repeat the whole equation to the lady at ICBC....Because I could not afford insurance for 8 months 8 years ago for which I had already been penalized, in another province, I am to lose my discount for another 5 years as a penalty. I thanked her very much, ( I know these calls are recorded) and handed back the phone to the girl serving me. The next day I received a call from ICBC telling me that I was upgraded to my previous 43% discount. No apology.

Tipping Jars on Counters

You hit the nail right on the head Walts...It is for the worker to work to their best potential to maybe get a tip for service well done, meeting and exceeding the expectations of the guest. If this is done and the guest leaves believing they had and exceptional relaxing time then they could feel a tip is justified.

I worked for over 25 years in the cooking industry and in most places I have worked did have tipping cups/jars. TIPS is actually an acronym for
TO INSURE PROMPT SERVICE....this is all relative to the person getting served.

I totally get what you are saying samadongshi2, I have been there myself. My mom lived with me for 3 months after she and dad split up after 38 years. She tried to let me live my life but it was difficult. I finally had to just tell her that I was no longer a little kid needing to check in and or take her with me EVERY WHERE I went. She had to get out and do her thing also. Try to get your mom interested in something other than just you...community services offer great activities for seniors, lunches, tours, crafts (making and selling), exchanges with other community service programs else where. My mom started into that and found she was buisy all the time, her niche was painting and volunteering. It was great for both of us....
I hope things work out for you two....

~~ I like to star gaze and watch meteor showers (weather co-operating of course).
~~ getting up in the early morning while camping and having a coffee while watching the mists rise up from the mirror finish of a lake and listening to the loons.
~~storms rolling in all flash and thunder.
