Quite true! He is Canadian.

But if he is from another province and he emigrates to Vancouver from Edmonton, he is a emigrant..........

What do you hope for on the 29th or 31st?
Posted: 12/26/2007 12:08:11 AM

On the 31st, I'll likely be drinking beer. Beyond that, it doesn't matter.
Me too!
Well, I could be drinking some type of shooters as well, but I think Beer sums it up nicely.

On the 29th it will be my one year anniversary with the bf...
Has it really been that long?

Congrats!

The United States is once again suppressing information that runs counter to invasion.
Posted: 12/8/2007 9:50:18 AM

Now the world, mainly the Europeans, are afraid of Iran.
Really? This is news to me.

Czech officials are saying it is now harder for them to in explaining the need for a U.S. missile defense system, which U.S. officials say is needed to ward off attack from Iran.
So, this is the reason the Czechs need for buying a US missile defence system......interesting.

they know we are finally reducing the policing the world.
The US polices the world? Who elected them to do this? The RCMP? And when are they going to start reducing?

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states should handle Iran.
Now this is just funny.......

we get the last laugh and these fish forum lefty Canadians ... know it.
Love those fish forums......

child support in bc
Posted: 11/27/2007 8:42:33 AM
..making a women accountable to support herself as long as there is a working man they can force to pay

That's funny! I think the opposite is more the norm.
I have found in my associations with single mothers that most work outside the home to support their children.

$1000 for child support for one kid god, u gotta be rich.

No kidding! Either that, or the ex had a great lawyer.

If u generate more money from ur support payments above what u bring home biweekly then to me that's considered a lavish lifestyle.

So you are saying if the custodial parent is bringing home $750 dollars every 2 weeks to raise 2 kids, $800 a month extra would be considered a lavish lifestyle?

i think it really sux when the custodial parents thinks they can MILK the supporting parent for their lavish lifestyle.

I always find it funny the person the paying in the custody agreement always thinks they are being MILKED.
Lavish lifestyle.... HA! Most single parents are lucky to survive month to month.
Do the deadbeats not want their children to have a good life?
Even if it is at the expense of their own?
I guess not.

now ur just being resentful and holding ur children hostage.

Only a vindictive, selfish ex could exploit their child to get back at their spouse. Most custodial parents are working as hard as they can to support the children and themselves.

As for me, I have received little or no money from my ex. Quite frankly, if I received any I would probably fall over in shock. And if I did get some, it would go directly to something for my child.

Wow, Canada steps up and does the right thing for a change!
Posted: 11/18/2007 7:40:02 PM

Canada likes cowards, that was known during the Vietnam war when the draft dodgers ran up north.

I think the difference between soldiers sent to Vietnam and the ones sent to Iraq is the draft.
The soldiers that have gone to Afghanistan and Iraq were volunteers. They had a choice not to fight for their country.
The ones sent to Vietnam were mostly drafted into the forces. They had no choice to fight for their country.
If you chose to fight for your country, then you should go where your country tells you to go. If you didn't want to, why sign up?
Those deserters that fled the US during the Iraq invasion should not be treated the same as someone who had no choice in the matter.

I hope my Country has Canada in it's cross hairs next, because I'm really beginning too hate anything Canadian.

This doesn't sound like the Americans I know. I am very disappointed..........

I actually agree with you here.

After taking the oath to serve, and willingly signing up, you have an obligation to honour your duty - or to accept the penalty for your moral opposition to it.

A political refugee is someone who is trying to escape persecution, not justice.
Funny, I agree here too.

However, I can't help but wonder why the local populace doesn't do more to undermine the insurgents--who couldn't continue for long without local cooperation.

I am not sure local cooperation is the issue there.
The IRA in Ireland didn't have a lot of local cooperation, but it was apparently enough.
Just look at the fear and damage they did there.

How misguided is this statement?

yes, we are winning..my opinion, bomb them back to the beginning of the earth, and claim a 51rst state

If this is how the average american thinks on Iraq, it explains why Bush is the President.

Iraq is dying a slow death.

why the hell should we be keeping such a lowlife alive
The chance he/she may be innocent. Plus, if the Government can murder its criminals, it becomes a slippery slope.......
and in better living conditions that a lot of our population?
I agree with the living conditions part of your post, they should not have the comforts of home when they are serving life sentences. Force them to work for their food, clothes, and such.
There is no rehabilitation there,
For the Clifford Olsons of the world, there is no redemption in this life. Thus there is no need to "try" to rehabilitate them. We need to find a nice desert to place them in. Sort of like the Nevada Prison System....
maybe if the death penalty was in effect he might have thought twice about it...

Ellen and the dog issue
Posted: 10/17/2007 6:07:47 PM
The rescue people don't allow little dogs with children under 15

Most rescue societies allow for certain rules to be "bent" when the shelter are the ones putting the animals in homes that "they" have checked out.

The home this dog was checked out for was Ellen D's, not her stylist's home. They had every right to take the dog back.

Ellen is using her clout to pressure someone to break their rules. They just are not bowing down and taking it.......... Kudos to them!!!!

I know all the basic curse repellents (Money, riding motorbikes, intoxicants, having a band, in a last ditch survival effort even the "L" word) but I need more advanced techniques.

I don't think you are looking for curse repellents so much as curse TREATMENTS. The curse looks to be incurable. So when symptoms appear, you could rub on a TOPICAL OINTMENT (full-body massage) or give an INGESTABLE MODIFYER (chocolates) to placate the aforementioned afflicted member of the opposite sex.

Iran hangs three rapists in public
Posted: 10/8/2007 1:52:25 PM
Passionteman,

- Having the word "Islamic" in front of the name of a country doesn't necessarily mean that the country is following Islamic laws.

True. But you do see how people could be deceived into believing this when it is written into the actual name of the country?

Being certified in Islamic law doesn't necessarily mean they are going to only follow Islamic law.

Again, I won't argue the point. No one can control every judge in an entire country. Just look at the US justice system if you need proof of that.
In general, most judges in Iran follow Islamic Law. Now I could drag up the Iranian Constitution of 1979 with the additional changes made in '89 to prove it, but you would find a way to refute even that.

Evidence and verse from the Koran in context?

The passages in the Koran dealing with apostasy are the chapter of Women, verse 90; the chapter of the Table, verse 59; and the chapter of the Bee, verse 108. I am not going to type them out. I am too lazy.
It supports what is said in Bukhari’s Hadith, volume 9, #17
"The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Messenger, cannot be shed except in three cases: in Qisas (equality in punishment) for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (Apostate) and leaves the Muslims."

I am assuming you have the book, read them yourself.

- If you are assuming that Iran is an Islamic country with Islamic law,

I don't think anyone mistakenly assumed that Iran is an Islamic country, as most encyclopedias that I have seen refer to Iran as "the official Islamic Republic of Iran" Not sure how that can be confusing......

Iran is an Islamic country with Islamic law

From what I remember, in all Iranian courts, judges are certified in Islamic Law. Most are even members of the ruling clergy and the judge holds absolute power.

God forbid that someone ever accuses you of rape under a similar legal system

The Judicial System is a form of the inquisitorial system. Not surprisingly, in Iran, the court judge acts as the prosecutor, jury, and arbiter. Sounds fair to me....

there is not a single verse in the entire Koran where it dictates to put apostates to death.

Anyone acquainted with Islamic law knows it is no secret that according to Islam the punishment for a Muslim who turns to kufr (infidelity, blasphemy) is execution.
Also, this same traditional Islamic law prescribes the penalty of death for a Muslim who commits apostasy. Though the punishment is not directly stated in the Quran, it is said to be based on certain Hadith and quotes from the Quran that have been used to defend this position.
So, yes, there is no exact verse in the Quran that states that the punishment for apostasy is death, but its happening in the Islamic country of Iran anyway.

In addition to the death sentence, Aghajari received a sentence of 74 lashes of the whip, eight years imprisonment and internal exile, and a 10-year prohibition from teaching.

Okay....... Let me get this straight. So after they hang him, they are going to give him 74 lashes, eight years in prison, internal exile, and a 10 year prohibition from teaching.

Isn't that a little redundant?

Aliens: Fact or Fiction?
Posted: 9/27/2007 3:53:48 PM

Are aliens real?
Do you actually think we are the only specs of life in all the universes?
If you are talking about intelligent life on planets other than our own, I would say there is a very good chance of it. Given the amount of stars in this galaxy alone, there have to be a number of planets that are habitable. And if there are other habitable planets than our own, then there is the possibility of life on other planets. So, there is the chance.

These are questions people have been trying to answer since the UFO crash in Mexico. But are they true?
I am hesitant to agree with your assumption that the balloon crash in New Mexico was aliens. There is too much proof to disprove this conspiracy theory. And if by using the Pyramids, crop circles, Stonehenge, etc., as examples of "alien visitation" you are suggesting that these"aliens" have visited our spec of dust on the outskirts of the galaxy, I would have to say not very likely. Even with energy generated "wormholes" as a means of travelling through space, why would they come here? We are but a small, insignificant star in a universe of possibilities.

Are abductions true?
No. They are a fabrication of the abductee's imagination. Even if hypnosis was used to ascertain what happened, the brain is not as infallible as a memory cache as some people think.

"Are they something like human beings?"
To use your own words.....

Maybe. Who really knows?

"I used to be a hoot, especially after you got a few shooters into me. But I was 20 & still pretty dumb."

I wish it was more accepted and not viewed as slutty or promiscuous.

I think the reason most women don't talk to men about sex is for exactly this reason.

Even a partner that you are dating doesn't like to express what they like.

Discussing sex with a friend of the opposite sex can generally be misconstrued as a come-on, I imagine it works this way with both sexes.

Why do threads have to be anything? Why can't they be about nothing? There was a TV show in the 90's about nothing. It survived for quite some time. Occasionally, it was even funny. Why can't threads be like that?

Leap of faith
Posted: 9/4/2007 9:24:13 PM

Hell is on earth
Think I am wrong?

Yes, I think you are wrong.

Hell is not on Earth, but it does exist.
And I think this post from another forum on faith goes a long way in proving it.

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God".

Well, at least it made me laugh.

It is usually best to sit back and let the crash happen. Getting embroiled in a discussion that will never be settled is frustrating at best.

Just when you thought superficiality, materialism, shallowness, etc. were the main character flaws...

Sure, the girl had her own opinion on what happened in the past. Its her opinion, whether she was supplied it or came to that conclusion on her own.

A lot of people have the same misguided theories of the past when it comes to how their last relationships ended.

Mass extinction has not been proven.

Mass extinction is happening today, and we as a society are causing it.

There is no proof either way.

Natural disasters happen all the time, and there is proof there were Global events that caused mass extinctions a number of times on this planet. Just do a Google search.

Leap of faith

There is no hard, scientific proof of God, true. But neither is there any proof to show that there isn't a God. There is no proof, either way. All that exists are theories and beliefs.

Something I can agree with! Well written!

But for the religious folks in the world, Hell and Heaven's very existence is necessary. If the state of existence called Heaven and Hell did not exist, the "free will of Man" given by God would not be able to exist.

God gave Man the gift of choice to believe in Him or not, and with this choice should come some consequences good or bad. So if there were to be no consequence for using "free will" to reject God, then these folks were not really free to reject God in the first place. And if they were not free to reject God, then they would not truly be "free" to love God either.

Thus the need for Heaven and Hell.

Ow! That made my head hurt!

SAME NAME

My brother has the same name as a murderer in Ontario. He has fun every time he tries to cross the border......

My former doctor is Dr. Clifford Olson. He still has problems with his name....

I get the overtime pay for someone in my office. We spell our names exactly the same.

Why do you post your rants on profile???

I post rants on my profile all the time. People love it!

Mind you, the rants aren't necessarily my rants, but they are pretty funny.

Time Travel back 100 years or forward 100

Going forward seems the interesting direction to follow.

The past is just that, the past. The known is pages in the history books......

The future is still to be written. The great unknown.

Isn't the unknown more exciting?

How many single parents have their kid or kids with no help?

Single parent here........ One girl.

I have heard of support. That's where your former S/O gives you money to support their child, right?

Even with the custody / access agreement, I have never seen a consistent payment regimen. Last payment was four or five years ago. Haven't missed it either.......
