in the early 80's,I lived Montreal and went to alot of the Expos' games, watched Nolan Ryan pitch many times,Steve Carlton,Dave Kingman could hit towering homeruns.Gary Carter was a great backcatcher,Andre Dawson was a great center fielder,Tim Raines stealing a base,Mike Schmicht home runs...alot of great memories..but my Favourites were the Boston Redsox...
Jim Rice,Fred Lynn,Rick Burlson,Dwight Evans,Yaz and Pudge...definately not Bill Buckner..

Muhammad Ali v Bruce Lee
Posted:
5/17/2009 8:04:58 PM
This thread kind of reminds me of the new Spike tv show the Deadliest Warrior..
maybe those computer dudes can punch all that stuff into their programs and tell us who would win...
I'd go with Bruce...
do not under estimate your opponet...
my vision on how the fight goes down...
Lee and Ali face off against each other...Ali throws jab,lee avoids it,kicks to the knee..Ali mad that he has been kicked,Lee kicks the other knee runs behind Ali,climbs Alis' back and grabs a rear naked choke,Ali passes out.The End
anyone else want to share their senario with us.

steve vai fans???

definately one of my all time favourites, what an amazing career he has had as well, best guitar concert i ever saw was when he played in Vancouver a couple of years ago,the best guitar playing I ever heard and performance and his acoustic set was just as amazing, apparently he gets alot of negativity from some people out there...but hey, they just wannabe wankers...
...I wonder how many of those wankers can take a dream and turn it into an amazing album and music...then there is his musical ear, wonder how many of those dumbasses even know what that is...during the G3 concert I saw with malmsteen,Yngwie was testing Stevies ear,he pulled it off in harmony...
wonder how many of those dumbasses can do that..oh thats right there toooooo busy putting FEEL into their useless playing.
Vai goes down in history as on of the greatest ever
and is more known now than he was in the 80's and all the ones who are haters will never have their wanking music heard by the world.
have a nice day and thanks for the post on Vai,that made my day.

Dunno about todays guitarist
Posted:
4/3/2009 1:08:07 PM
Am I the only one who enjoys listening to guitar players play just cause I love the guitar, all styles....after all these years people still being crybabies about playing fast
the guitar is meant to be played anyway the guitarist wants to play it
including fast...A=440..that means the string vibrates 440 times in a second...thats very fast you dumba$$es...
oh thats right tooo many notes you can't hear it,long live shred guitar and buddy holly, cause he was really good too.

When I was a kid Guy Lafleur was my favorite hocky player and the canadians were my favorite team..
when I was older Yzerman was my favorite player and the redwings were my favorite team...
When Sid the kid started in the league I actually would watch the Pens games and He and the Pens are my favorite...
Kunitz is a good hockey player and I really like Matt Cooke alot(I lived in Van for alot of years).
Sidney Crosby is not a crybaby and it really doesn't matter at all what you people think...
he is alot tougher than you
Malkin should be the Hart trophy winner, more than likely OV will get it and he as well deserves it again.
I'm glad Satan is in the minors,he sucked this year.
if ya really know the game of hockey or other sports, you should know that all the crybabies are some of the fans.

Randy Rhoades or Eddie Van Halen????
Posted:
2/22/2009 8:12:14 PM
I perfer to listen to Rhoads over EVH,though EVH is an outstanding player.
One of the things that amazes me about Randys guitar playing and music is that he was so very young and yet most guitar players will need a full life time of playing just to maybe get to where Randy was at when was as young as he was....and I don't get the playing stiff, does not make any sense to me,but awe well, thats just what i hear..
...check out his live playing, that boy rocks and plays with every ounce of his soul, from what I hear in his playing is that nobody is happier to fkn play guitar.
There are only a few true guitar heroes, those 2 are a part of what thousands and thousands of other boys and girls wanted to be.

Randy Rhoads..
Posted:
12/3/2008 4:28:02 PM
A couple of years ago I called Kelly Garni,he was Randys childhood friend and original bass player for quiet riot.I wanted to ask some questions,if Randy sang or played other instruments, who inspired him.Kelly said Randy was a guitar player,he was always playing and learning and teaching but was a terrible singer
he also loved the drums, apparently the drum line in the opening to Over the Mountain was Randys...Alice Cooper,Gary Moore and Leslie West were some of his influences..
and I love Jakes playing on Bark at the Moon and Ultimate sin...sounds nothing like Randys palying which is a good thing,he has a style all on his own...and Zakk is the ultimate compliment to Randy and has a style all to him self as well..No More Tears is an amazing record with incredible guitar playing...
The rare live footage of Randy is awesome,to see him play live, one gets a better understanding of his playing...always moving, headbanging, very entertaining to watch,he was the ultimate rock guitar player..

Jason Becker.....
Posted:
10/21/2008 5:33:32 PM
It seems as though every generation has a musical hero of some sorts,we all know who they are and from what generation their from....back in the late 80's shred guitar was at its peak and there was this one guitar player who was better at it than anyone, his musicallity and motorskill had the heads turning in the rock scene,he was just a teenager ripping up the guitar in a mind blowing way.He got his big break by replacing Steve Vai in the David Lee Roth band....then as the rocknroll song goes, something terrible happened to him,he was diagnosed with ALS.He was able to finish the album, was not able to do the tour. For a better understanding of him check out his documentary on the youtube...
Jason is amazing...he hasn't been able to play guitar in a very long long time and was suppose to die in the early 90's....as of today he still composes music..watch the documentary to see how he does it...there is a song that he composed a while ago, that I just recently heard,I know his story,so when I was listening to this song, right away I felt a sadness, then there was a melody of notes and a tear ran down my down face, then as the song flows on I get happier and hopeful, then I have never been so inspired...alot of emotions just in one song.
Jason Becker was the ultimate guitar player, now he is in my mind the most amazing composer.
Have you ever heard of him???
your thoughts before and or after watching the documentary???

Best solos ever..?
Posted:
9/27/2008 11:56:02 PM
my music teacher said to me once..if you want to be a good guitar soloist, then learn to solo like a saxaphone player or trumpet and or any other instrument including voice...
anything by Vai...call it sleep is one of my favs
anything by Satch..friends is my fav.
anything by Rhoads...over the mountain is my fav.
anything by Nuno...A song for love is my fav.
there are some great jazz players that know how to solo and the best part is that they do not repeat themselves.
Zakk once said that a solo should be like taking off in an airplane.
Howard Roberts once said to me a solo means you get to take the music to another place all by yourself(just so long as you know how to stay in key
)
there are way tooooo many wankers in this world
there are very many boring players as well...
I suck at solos,so I would rather just play super super fast and be happy about it

Extreme

my fav guitarist of all time..
1.Rhoads
2.Vai
3.Nuno
Nuno is amazing, his guitar playing is extremely wicked, his songwriting is just outstanding...and he sings better than most lead singers...
not too long ago I caught a video of Nuno playing Dee...
he also attended Randys' walk of fame induction..
Cherone and Nuno have a chemistry that is very rare..
Cherone with VH....hmmmm what about Nuno and Ozzy...
ya never know, ozzy and Vai worked together...
Extreme will always be one of my favorite bands, mostly cause of Nuno, and I enjoy that song More than words..why not its Extreme
my Favorite Exteme song is Warhead..and my favorite riff is Rest in peace
there was a time in the early 90s,when I listened to pornograffiti everyday for a year and a half
and out of all the songs ever created by any musician,my favorite song to play on my guitar is decadent dance and I can sing and play it as well

from my understanding is that Randy was going to leave Ozzy as soon as his contract was finished,we all know that he wanted his degree in classical guitar at UCLA...and there is a scholorship offered at UCLA in Randys name...during the brief time in the early 80s' Randy was being offered alot of session work..that would have been very kool...
in sept 09,there is apparently a documentary movie on Randys life to be released..
can't wait for that...
and I think it is awesome to hear and see kids trying to pull off Crazy train and his other work

The greatest of the Grunge?
Posted:
9/3/2008 10:56:56 PM
I'm just happy that bands like Pantera and SYL started out in the 90's and Metal overall went heavier and louder, made all that grunge crap sound like grunge crap...except Alice in Chains they rocked and Chris Cornell could sing really good but apparently they weren't grunge so they had some good tunes
When Nirvana first hit the radios and videos
I didn't like them at all but after Kurt died I was jamming with a singer who loved them and I istened to them again and ya know what Kurt was a really good songwriter...yeah so anyways the best of the grunge..Black Sabbaths Volume 4

Posted:

Well,I heard the song today,it didn't suck,Hetfield is awesome as always,a few years ago I was jamming with a metal drummer,he was good..he introduced me to some of metals best drummers..Flo Mornier,Lombardo,Hoglan...so I have been listening to drummers alot more than I had when I was younger....LARS SUCKS IN A REALLY BAD WAY...thats been there problem I bet..he is not that great. These days there are alot of wicked metal drummers and Lars doesn't even compare. An awesome drummer can take mediocore music and make it rock, sounds like Lars has other things to do than get good at playing drums in these days of wickednest.

Any tips for a self-taught guitarist?
Posted:
8/6/2008 11:12:34 PM
Chords are a good way to start on an acoustic...you can strum them and or finger pick them,do that with some 3 or 4 part chord progressions and while you do that start singing while your playing...when comfortable with strumming and picking and singing, find someone that will play with ya...

How many of you other players have a very large collection of straps just for the heck of it, or because you thought a couple were cool looking and picked them up even though you didn't need them?
I still have and use only the one,the first one I ever recieved,my brother bought it for me,its so funny cause it just fits and molds right into my shoulder..
I went to a jam last year and use this bass players bass and strap and the strap just did not feel right, but I have seen so very many wonderful and kool looking straps, just not gonna buy them.

Believing in the Bible

I just don't get why people blame God cause of mans own stupidity....
I guess I just do not believe in the biblical Lord and what every one else sees and or feels about it...I sure am not going to blame the Lord for the problems that the people create, anyways do not want to get off topic...
The Bible, well what the hell you people allready know,I sure as hell not gonna convince anyone otherwise.I am so amazed about how many people are so very sensitive about it,perhaps someday day I might actually read it..
The last month or so been very curious to read the Bible,I talk to some people who have read it and apparently,I do know it.
Thou shall not kill...before it meant another human, now it includes insects???I remember once I saw this spider and was about to squish it,it looked up at me and heard this voice inside that said..let the little focker live.

I have had wierd experiences with cameras as well...
one in particular,I was being processed to spend a night in jail
(yes thats right wasn't always a good boy,
) anyways during the process right after taking my fingerprints the police officer was going to take my picture,I said to myself no way do I want my picture taken. The cop looks confused at his camera, again tries to take my picture,I am like no fkn way...He starts to get a little fustrated
..I am actually starting to laugh at the situation..he looks at me as if I am having something to do with it,asks me if he can take my picture now,at this point i wasn't so mad, cause it was just too fkn funny...I said sure..ok.Then he did and said thankyou.
it was a very weird experience.I have heard of myths about souls not wanting there pictures taken, that could possible cause interference.
