Prayer Request and Updates
Posted: 10/10/2009 3:08:32 PM
Hello everyone, it has been a while! I am still lost in this unemployed world and the sides are closing in on me. But, I am not writing for me, but for my Mysp*ce buddy Judy. She lives in Tennessee and she is presently in a Hospital. She has Stage 4 Leukemia. It is VERY aggressive and is really attacking her body. The have tried many forms of Chemo and different types of medicines. None is working. I know that God has a plan, it is either to heal her despite the odds.....or take her home.

Your prayers for the 32 year old Lady with one Daughter (she has a 16 years old.......yep, she had her young) would be appreciated.

I hope all is well and you all are healthy and happy. I'll start dropping in more at times to catch up with all of you that are still here!!

God Bless,

~Sneaks

That was a 3 Trillion Dollar bail out I think, the worst amount of money in many years.

From what I can tell, the payment is to outline your profile as "Serious" dater. Otherwise, the site is still free. It is like a "Flag" that tells searchers you are very serious about dating.

Why English Is So Hard To Learn?
Posted: 2/6/2009 4:44:08 PM
I was asking for sentences using the English Language when it becomes confusing to people who move to the States and are trying to learn our spoken word. I didn't think it would be considered a word game.

Sorry folks if this is deleted, I was not trying to circumvent the rules....really!!.

This should be some fun! Try to think up some sentences that use words with more than one meaning. I saw this on another site and I thought it might be fun here!

Later all,

* The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
* There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
* They were too close to the door to close it.
* The buck does funny things when the does are present.
* A seamstress and a sewer fell down the sewer line.
*To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
* The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
* After a number of injections, my jaw got number.
* Upon seeing the tear in the painting, I shed a tear.
* I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
* How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

About the people that say they are moochers in not so many words... good luck with that!!!

....but you can't seem to stop yourself from trying to save the human race one person at a time...
~GrnEyedGrl71

Well GrnEyedGrl71,

Well, aren't you a wonderful person (along with a few others) on this site. I emptied out my profile and decided that after reading a few ladies profiles, to take a break. It seems they dumped their men (Hubbies and Boyfriends) that mooched off of them. Those guys wouldn't even help around the house or even try to find a "Part-time" to help out. I really don't blame them at all! They see my profile that I retired and I am job hunting.......their "Moocher" alert goes off! I don't mooch, I have too much pride in myself!!

The topic here is "My new favorite type of profile....", so my favorite profile belongs to a Lady in north Georgia that states, "Have a job or be willing to get one". I wanted to write her tell her that she is a rare breed.......or a crazy one!!

Have a wonderful day folks, they say Spring is a good indication of when things will start to look better. All these companies need to quite laying folks off (Home Depot 7,000)(Intel 8,000)!!!

She may type like us, get her on the phone and the "like us" goes out the window! She has the absolute most cutest little accent you'll ever hear!

My most "northern buddy" still has a huge heart, she could live down here during the winter if she wanted too......I am not so sure she'd survive Georgia's hazy hot summers though!

I have several friends throughout Georgia and one just a little north of me that have all lost their jobs. I don't even look at the Business Section of the papers anymore, everyday it's all about who in Atlanta is laying off people. I pray we all get back to working somewhere and the economy will pick up a little as well.

Henceforth, they are not good enough to pursue things further.
~Promicekeeper

It is not what is said, it's the words you use that are hurtful. To tell someone they are not good enough is taking words and using them in a hurtful manner. To say to someone (As was suggested) "We would not be a good match" would be a better approach, whether they get irate is not your concern, what you say is a reflection of the person you are.

^^^^^ Right on Cogie!!! I have never seen or read someone that tries so hard to prove he is right when most of us can see right though him (Rather his first few responses to your original post). I agree with your approach and appreciate the fact that you do let the letter writer know how you feel versus just Read/Deleting.

To really reply to your original post, many people on this site carry their feelings on their shoulders and a note of rejection might set them off. That is not your fault by no means!! What would hurt them more is a Read/Delete, or more so a Unread/Delete. Your simple reply is one I have heard used by many POFer's when responding to someone they may not be interested in.

I have not a clue what in the world the abbreviaton OP stands for.

In the world of POF Blogging that means "Original Poster". The term is used widely throughout all of POF Blog Sites.

Promicekeeper you are walking down a road full of semantics. He said....she said....when other posters fail to really realize your point of view, you dig your heels in and argue anyway.

Dude(!!).......The OP has the God given right to answer her emails her way, irregardless of how you may feel about it. I have read all the post and it doesn't take any amount of Psychological training to see that you are at odds with her point of view. It is almost hysterical reading your responses as you try to belittle her for thinking the way she does.

When I use the term "belittle", I mean to say that you continuously comment on her actions or choice of none actions (Block), to me that is belittling.

As many humans as there are on the planet, God gives them all a choice of how to make their own decisions.....good or bad. You have no right or justification to adversely comment on hers. Your remarks are doing just that.

If a responder to her email gets nasty enough, she may then block him/her if she so chooses. I have had a few notes unread/deleted.........the OP at least responds with a reasonably respectful note. Which is more than I can give many POFer's credit for.

Just my 2 cents worth and my opinion ONLY!

Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names!
Posted: 12/30/2008 9:19:17 PM
I was raised on a farm with MANY animals and we had all of them named........except the rabbits and chickens! Now, Mom still lives on that farm and still has quite a few animals. Of the cats that roamed about the house, there was one red cat named Houdini. He would make his way into the house no matter how many times you tossed him out of the house. He lived up to "the name" very well. Unfortunately, Mom bought some food that had been made in China and Houdini died from it.

We still talk about that cat from time to time!

I would just assume to wrestle an alligator than match wits with you my fabulous friend! I do agree with your remarks dear Ruthannah. The term "Shallow" has become a catch phrase rather than trying to realize what the OP was referring to.

so before everyone starts spewing all their anger again......relax....there is someone out there for everyone......
~Cogie36

That much is true. This site is full of very shallow people, you just read some of their profiles........then just click on to the next person. I am a bit taken aback right now, my Grandmother passed away last night. She was 94 years young and feisty as ever. She nearly got kicked out of the retirement twice......she was such a hoot. I will miss that wonderful and very beautiful Lady! We are all Spanish by ancestry, from the Country of Spain. We also have Creek and Cherokee blood running through our veins. She was a natural beauty........just a bit of a temper though....LOL!!!

She has now taken up residence on Hallelujah Blvd. in Heaven with her Mother, whom was also very beautiful.

I feel a peace about her and a sadness that I didn't go and visit her more. I hope to see her again one day.

Christmas Countdown... thoughts, chores, celebrations

I'm thinking of all you people in the Georgia Pond (including the honorary Georgian Psssst...)

I couldn't agree more Ms. Politesse, she is certainly a woman well loved in Georgia.

Thoughts:
This year has been filled with anticipation mixed with bit of uncertainty. I look to the New Year with great anticipation and awe of the love God shows me through my many friends on this site. I accept the New Year as one of change for me personally in many areas of my life.

Chores:
That would be to finish my Daughters room, she wants to move home and be near Dad!!!

Celebrations:
I will be heading to Mom's for Christmas to spend time with a family that I love and loves me so much. I thank God for yet another year that I have been blessed to be near them all.

Merry Christmas all,

The 401(K) Dilemma (LATimes News Article)
Posted: 12/21/2008 8:35:03 PM
Friends,

I retired from Delta under my Defined Pension Plan, though frozen in 2005, I will still receive some of what's left of my pension starting next year. All employee's hired after 2005 were offered only the 401(K) plan for their retirement. In 2010 Delta will eliminate the defined Retirement Plan that I retired under and all Agents will then be subject to the 401(K) plan, as most Corporations are now doing. Since the economy soured 401(K) plans everywhere have lost significant value. The article below explains the problem.

If you have other sources of retirement savings plans that could work, please share!

~Sneaks

This is only the top portion of the report, go to the "Source" and read the rest if you'd like to!

401(k) plans under scrutiny By: Reporter Jim Puzzanghera

For nearly three decades, working Americans have been part of a huge experiment with their future well-being: Old-fashioned pensions that guaranteed specific retirement benefits have given way to old-age benefits that depend on personal investing in the financial markets.

But now, with those markets in crisis and the value of workers’ investments plunging, a bundle of ideas for modifying the system or replacing it entirely – ideas shunted aside when the stock market was soaring – are about to get a careful new look.

For one thing, Democrats have campaigned on the promise of a better deal for middle-class Americans. Also, many workers are aghast at the sudden discovery that their retirement years may be a lot less golden than they expected.

Even for people who have faithfully participated in the new retirement plans, which depend on annual savings and investment in 401(k) and similar accounts, much if not all of what they gained in the stock market over the last 10 years has been wiped out.

So far this year, the average worker’s 401(k) account balance has dropped between 21% and 27%, depending on the worker’s age and time with his or her employer, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute.

That’s a potentially disastrous turn of events, because the key to making the savings plans work is the hoped-for gains from long-term investing, not just the amount workers set aside.

The present system is further called into question by the fact that millions of Americans have not had such plans available to them or have not participated for other reasons, including stagnant incomes that made saving difficult or impossible.

“The current 401(k) system has not turned out to be as secure as we want it to be,” said Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez), chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee. “It has not provided the returns that we want it to. And it’s not provided the level of savings that we want it to. It’s kind of failing on a number of fronts.

“Should there be a serious reassessment? Absolutely,” he said.
