Where to Vacation!
Posted:

Greek Islands are wonderful - spent a month there in 97. Best to fly into Athens and then fly out to the first of the islands in the centre of Greece; work yourselves around either clock wise or counter clock wise and then fly out of Chandler on Crete. Avoid Athens- dirty smelly like New York without the culture and theatre. You could stay two days to see the Acropolis etc and then out out....

Give me Doer any day over some of the other leaders we have seen. I can't believe that no one ever took a shot at Filmon in early 90's. He was a real piece of work! I am with Narkle and Printer on this one!

Hmmmmm - how responsible is it for you to be discussing "your clients" on a public forum? I don't think the agency that you work for would be real excited about that! As a professional you should know better.

someone I used to go out with was always hassling me to switch to MTS but I prefer Shaw for cable, internet but use Primus for phone at present. Was thinking of switching back to shaw for phone though just to save a few bucks on bundle package.

manitoba nurses named if found abusing drugs and alcohol on duty
Posted:
5/10/2009 3:21:04 PM
All nurses have to be licensed and can not practice without it. Any nurse found to be using is at "risk" of having their license suspended. I see no one point in publishing names as that just simply puts their careers at risk for ever even if they receive treatment. Is there any point in making someone unemployable? If they continually relapse then of course they shouldn't be practising and their associations protect us from that by suspending their license indefinitely I believe.
Unfortunately there is a high degree of prescription drug use in nursing profession - but a hugely stressful field not unlike policemen, firefighters, dentistry, doctors, etc.
Treat drug addiction like alcohol addiction I say

We met where?
Posted:
4/16/2009 5:21:45 AM
In this day and age I think it is pretty normal now to meet this way. How different is it from a singles group, a neighbourhood bar, etc. This way you actually get to chat with someone via email until you are comfortable meeting them in a public place. Those that pass judgement on this avenue of meeting someone can simply keep their opinions to themselves as far as I am concerned. I am confident this is no different or no more dangerous than any other way provided you interview well.

Japanese Meat Balls

I would probably cook the meatballs in a broiler pan on 350 for 15 minutes - turning a couple of times. Then freeze them on a cookie sheet and toss them in a slow cooker later with the other ingredients and cook for 3-4 hours.

Relationships and Mom

not all women should have children or will make decent parents. Their children they give birth to pay a lifetime consequence for that. Don't blame the victims. And there are two sides to each story!
It is never a healthy situation for one to not get along with their parents but sometimes choices need to be made. If someone has chosen to give distance to that relationship sometimes it is the healthiest of choices. Just my two cents.

Costa Rica adventure
Posted:
2/19/2009 5:15:04 AM
just arrived back from costa rica and loved it! It did rain though not intense and certainly not all day and it depends on where you are at the time. We took an eco tour for 10 days through Caravan and loved it. While we couldn't see Arenal Volcano as it was too cloudy but it was beautiful country. We attempted two river raft trips and both cancelled at last minute as they said the river was too high and too fast. The Pacific West side is very pretty and drier. Go you will love it!

City Wants to Certify Homes Prior to Sale (Residential Compliance Certificates)
Posted:
2/1/2009 7:41:27 AM
ssems anytime bureaucrats get involved there is trouble. I have no issue with home inspection it is simply common sense. You don't buy a used vehicle without having your mechanic look at it. When govt or city gets involved they are simply making great jobs with good salaries for their buds ie. RRAP program? does that ring any bells. It created great jobs for out of work contractors to do the home inspections to ensure that you were able to borrow money from the city to do the work you were going to do anyway. What a racket!

to take off unwanted weight and keep it off
to work towards a retirement plan and option (3 years to count down or ?)
perhaps to consider finishing another degree before I lose the credits
to clean out my wickedly crowded closet in basement of clothing that doesn't fit
to follow the physio exercises after getting knee scoped so I can return to aerobics
to continue to swim four days a week no matter how cold it is out there

Body type descriptions
Posted:

Well I for one have seen it all in the profiles and have figured out that both men and women are known for posting pictures that are twenty years old, touched up, etc. Really no point as when you meet them in person you see the real person. Best to know that there is no attraction in the first place than to discover it once you have gone to meet them. As for the type? there should be more choices available as I for one am more than a few extra pounds but working on it! Oddly enough I am not initially attracted to men that are overweight - don't like it on me so why would I like it on them? but body type is only one factor of what someone is all about. Also I would like to think there is more to me than the skin I live in.

Cheesecake Brownies
one cup of butter 4 eggs 4 oz unsweetened chocolate 2 cups sugar
one tsp baking powder one tsp salt 2 tsp vanilla 1 cup chocolate chips
one and half cups of flour
2 qt saucepan - combine butter and unsweetened chocolate and cook over med heat -
stirring constantly. Stir in balance of ingredients except chocolate chips and beat till smooth. Fold in chocolate chips at the end after taking off heat. Spread half batter into 9x13 inch greased pan and reserve half batter till you make cheesecake layer.
cheesecake layer= 1/4 cup sugar, 2tsp soft butter, one egg, one tbsp flour, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 8 oz cream cheese - beat all together until totally mixed
Add cheesecake layer on top on bottom half of brownie mix then add second layer of brownie mix and swirl with a hot knife. Bake 30-35 minutes or until brownies pull away from the sides of the pan. Ice with a chocolate icing after totally cooled.

Breaking news ~ Guilty verdict read

Critical Incident stress debriefing is offered to all jury members, crown and judges if they choose it. It must be very very difficult to be forced to listen to all that information and then turn it off. I am certain it will affect them for years to come.
As far as the death penalty - I am no bleeding heart social worker - bring it on I say!
As far as other inmates "taking care of the situation" I believe if we imprision them we have a right to protect them from other violence from other inmates i.e. solitary confinement if need be.
As far as social workers seeing the child in the home - that is an ethical responsibility and I don't know what went wrong here but an inquiry will bring that forward. There is far too many lay people being trained in the aboriginal agencies without the proper background to do what they are entrusted to do for a living. That needs to be addressed and I understand this was Fisher River ? thus the catchment area for aboriginal agencies.

Hi KingFish; thanks for the information on safety. I am meeting another female friend from Calfornia there and she is pretty well travelled as well. I believe she speaks Spanish quite well so hoping she can translate for us. We will be careful and will watch out for the pickpockets etc. I never travel with jewelry etc and try not to attract any unwanted attention.
