Years ago I had a small business where I relied on weekly bookings of newspapers and the 9 - 5 magazine for repeat work. My account manager sounded really hot so I agreed to meet her for lunch after I saw a group pic of the marketing team. At the cafe` she was in a wheelchair and I did not care as this girl was warm, friendly and gorgeous with a McLeans Girl smile to boot. She invited me to her black tie 21st b/day party with some other business people and I took the opportunity to ask her out to dinner. We went out as friends and found out she was not lonely for company but just restricted to where she could go and what she could do. Just best to be up front and honest I guess as until she moved to the UK we were close friends.

LOW INCOME EARNERS
Posted: 4/16/2008 7:05:19 AM
I would say the majority of marriage break ups are to do with cash and finances in general. Often it is his and her money and to be honest when I hear people fighting over money and his and her money it makes me sick to the stomach. If you can't share your finances, then why share a bed and be married ?
Take some mad money each to enjoy and discuss the major expenses. Whilst I had a shared account with the ex for household bills, it just made sense that I was earning 300% of what she was earning so I would pay for the household stuff. She smoked and I didn't and I had not for years and I told her - if you wish to smoke you pay for it - besides the odd packet if we were out or at a service station. Often we were out for Sunday lunch and she would pay the $50.00 without blinking as it seems fair considering she did not really have to pay much in the way of household expenses.

I had a friend who was a St George Bank Manager back in the 90's I asked him why the old hold music was some 2CH easy listening music rather that the JJJ that was on once before. He told me some idiot had a state manager on hold when `Neggers with Attitude` came on singing "Fack The Police" - so he immediately wrote a policy for piped music to come from 1 station only for the onhold music. I guess that summed it all up ............... I would have changed it too.

The upside of being single!
Posted: 4/15/2008 10:57:26 PM
As my neighbour does our ironing and enjoys the extra cash with cleaning once a week, she finds it relaxing as she still gets to do the little things she did when she was married and it gives her some connection with a relationship.
She gets on well with her ex husband and also with his new family but said it is the little things such as touching a man's shirt or jeans that she said she missed sometimes (ok we wash our own stuff first and get her to do the hard stuff) and the other month I had gotten ready for work and had my aftershave on when she knocked on the door to collect the ironing and said she missed smelling a man's aftershave around the house when she was at home.
I do admit that I often use the kitchen chairs as a coat rack to hang my suit coats on and when the housemate is home he does the same thing - we only 2 chairs to sit on so we have 6 to share as coat racks.

How do I cook a roast chicken?
Posted: 4/15/2008 10:45:43 PM
Good size roasting pan or aluminium tray if you don't have one and add some lemon slides to the oil in the pan. Adding some fresh herbs and some garlic pieces will give you some nice rich flavour together with a baster or basting brush as well.
Make sure whatever you do' you let it rest for a few minutes before you go to serve and make sure you find out she is not vegetarian first !!! Some nice vegetables include sweet potato, tiny baked onions, pumkin and of course some freshly cooked beens with something added to boost their flavour. Oh and some nice gravy goes hand in hand and even if it is just Gravox with a hint of onion and garlic make sure it is has no lumps and keep stirring it with a fork (not spoon as it allows you to crush up any chunks) and if lost strain it through something to get rid of the lumps and make sure it is kept warm not stone cold.
Now a good dessert could be as simple as gourmet icecream or a banana flambe or if you are game and want to let the meal digest - some savoury pancakes - just shake and bake on a firm heatt - fresh fruit and well ................. candles help as well.
Enjoy .......... and no I am not inviting anyone over for dinner !!!

Voting at 16
Posted: 4/15/2008 6:25:47 AM
Vote at 16 ? Get real !!!
Perhaps if they were shown both sides of the argument to vote such as the screw ups in NSW for 12 years, then they might see how bad things have remained for the same decade or perhaps they could look at recessions and interest rates of 18% about 20 years ago or see what things were like before GST or Work Choices ?
Perhaps even learning about a recession and what happens ?
16 year olds are more interested in MySpace or FaceBook and wondering why that girl is so ugly on TV or when a young bloke can get his learners permit and drive mum's XF falcon home from school to prove himself a hero.
Even at 18 with so much advancement in communications, kids have little interest in politics and saying "parents can help them" it is like these pathetic excuses for parents who blame `them guvments for no jobs, ay` - just creating an expansion program for more people wanting to blame others for not getting off their backside and doing something for themselves.

What a woman should wear at her wedding??
Posted: 4/15/2008 6:20:05 AM
Most asian weddings require the bride to change into a red dress after the reception begins and at 1 wedding, I saw the bride change 3 times just during the reception alone. She bought her dress from a sale as she was tall and slim and looked gorgeous in it and being her 2nd and his 5th, it was treated special.
When you consider that most women spend $2k - 4k for their wedding dress (it might say $1,500 but add on fitting and hemming costs and you hit OVER $2k (I have a friend who's wife worked in the wedding dress industry for 20 years) for a few hours, I think spending on something that best suits you, your budget, your style and of course perhaps some nice BLING BLING to cherish later in years to come.
Now underneath ............ well gladwrap comes to mind ...............

Saying Thank You after sex
Posted: 4/15/2008 6:13:44 AM
Only worry if he hands you $50.00 and asks if you have $20.00 change after sex !!
Depends on the circumstances of course and it if was a wonderful experience shared by 2 mutually attracted adults then there should not be an issue. Perhaps he needed some wd40 as it may have been some time for him or he had issues before about letting his emotions go ?

When do you know he's cheating?
Posted: 4/15/2008 6:04:21 AM
Or when he hands over $50.00 and says "here is your tip for tonight, honey !!"
Or who rolls over an says "ok you need to hurry up before the missus / my boyfriend gets home".
No offence but anyone with marks for a GPS on their window or who openly displays a GPS is asking for trouble.

Do you trick your kids
Posted: 4/13/2008 10:50:07 PM
I used to tell my nephews and neices that the playground was broken and the man was coming later to fix it (after we saw park maintenance at work 1 week). Ice Cream Sundae place has been broken for a few years but the one from McDonalds for 30 cents is still working fine (ok they know better now).
My Housemate admitted he used to tell his kids the Home Ice Cream man came when they were asleep on the weekends in summer and left icecreams in the fridge for them if they were good. Now as teenagers it was only them telling me one day what he used to say to them that I found out the truth.

Apparently its OK to Shoplift just not Extort !!!
Posted: 4/13/2008 10:42:22 PM
Just to clear things up, A Private Person's arrest has been the legal term in Australia for a number of years but has been slowly replaced as a Citizens Arrest - same thing but legislation has been altered over time.
Ok ANYONE can make and arrest and it can be verbally, placing your hand on that person's shoulder, taking hold of that person or can be implied arrest which MUST be supported by a verbal statement as in "My name is __________ and I am placing you are arrest for ____________. I will be calling the police and inform you that you do not have to speak any further with me as I may record our conversation for evidence" (Before someone of you jump and say something - this is the cut down version of what is legislated but for the shopkeeper or someone similar to abide by).
In regards to false imprisonment, this can include locking someone in a store-room, having a minor in a room alone or in the case of a female person, not having a female witness with most retailers using CCTV recording of the security office to avoid liability issues. Screw up in the arrest of a person and you committed an offence against them by not informing them of their rights and that they are under arrest.
Detaining someone immediately makes you liable for their safety and welfare with the case of someone needing medical attention you must offer to provide reasonable care such as calling an ambulance or 1st aid if requested. As a result of you taking reasonable steps you are cannot be held liable.
Greg summed it up - taking those steps to comply with the legislation is going to keep you protected from liability. The NRA does have information sessions for small retailers to attend to ensure they have some protection as most excess claims on public liability is from $5,000.00 and up which could be a month's net profit for some smaller operators. Once your parents would get a call from the shop keeper and your behaviour and you would cop it at home and then be made to apologise to the shop keeper - now parents are only going to have their hands out for a free payout.

Yes this is correct most stores have something similar as do carparks with the NO LIABILITY TAKEN OF ANY LOSS. Again it is the same as under the workplace surveillance act that if I installed any CCTV camera, I need to inform staff 14 days prior to the installation and operation of the cameras and sign the CCTV at the entry point for staff.
The National Retailers Association has a few articles on this which whilst generic cover commonly asked questions and scenarios.

Years back there was a bloke who killed himself in a Ferrari in some outback rally where there are no speed limits and I think he was hitting close to 300kph in a million dollar car. I think this was like 10 years back and I recall the car being a total wreck.

An old school buddy ran into me literally at a local shopping centre about 1996. I through to myself "who is this bloke who is following me around ?" He looked all physically affected, coke bottle glasses and was smiling. He came up to me and said "I know you don't I" and of course this was well over 10 years since leaving school and of course I had changed from the 80's. Then I looked at him and said "Hey your name is ________ and we were in English together in high school". He spoke slowly and said he had suffered a stroke and was now a pensioner and it broke my heart to see his face paralysed as this bloke was brilliant in school and competitive in sport. We said goodbyes and I walked away feeling sick in the stomach knowing someone I had not seen for over 10 years had suffered what I considered and old person's disease.

We had a group go from work in the 90's and I recall it being a full day for 2 jumps both single and costing me a week's wages. Some meathead in the group lost something (could have been the thumb ring rip cord) and was charged about $85.00 for losing it. I recall the 2nd jump being more scarier .......... probably because I knew what to look out for.

Ok each state has their own laws and statutes so I will keep this Generic. We don't have a citizens arrest in Australia - we do have something similar with the same calibre so I won't confuse people anyfurther. BUT you must witness the person committing the offence so that means you see the person conceal the item, walks past registers and leave the store without payment. You may then make the arrest but you MUST identify the reasons behind the arrest and no you cannot UNARREST anyone as you must refer them to the police as soon as possible.
You cannot tie them up or lock them in a store-room as you are technically taking away their freedom aka deprivation of liberty as known in the US. However, the police MAY detain a person based on suspicion as in "we have orange paint graffiti, you have orange hands and 3 empty paint cans in your bag". NO-ONE has been charged but they have been detained by the police. Again I ask that you read what I said about the difference between police and private citizens. We also have special constables who sit in between both factions and under certain tasks (ie such as RSPCA Inspectors and Transit Officers).
BTW: LP Magazine is US based and whilst the common laws are similar they also have statutes where shopkeepers (aka merchants) have certain provisions to arrest shoplifters and take reasonable steps to detain them. The laws in Australia are as soft as an icecream cone in summer as mongrels can just be let off with a fine, caution or be left to do community service or weekend jail. We can all sit around and say "oh poor little bugger has problems with culture and he is culturally deprived so he steals" but in reality, parents need to stop blaming society or boredom or any other poor excuse why little Johnny is innocent and someone put the paint cans in his orange soaked hands and back pack.

The pics are clips off the CCTV footage not another Kodak Moment.
I need to refresh my memory but anyone under the age of 14 was not permitted to have their picture taken by anyone but the police for ID purposes.
Ok let us define shoptlifting for the beginners .............. John (sorry if your hane is John) comes into a store, he `conceals` and item in his pocket and walks out passing 2 registers without making an attempt or paying for the item - he is guilty. Jill comes into the same shop, is being harassed by her son for a small chocolate bar so she agrees to buy it if he behaves and will get it after they leave. She holds the item in her hand and whilst getting coins from her purse for the bread and milk, she forgets to pay for it and walks out not paying for the item. She has shoplifted - however she immediately returns and makes payment (technically it was an oversight but bigger items are stolen with the `oh gee I forgot to pay for this new tv` excuse.
Jane comes along and finds a nice coat. She wears the coat as she is cold and has the tag on display to all. She has not left the store but has `selected` an item but not left the store without payment. She spills a drink on the sleeve, so has she bought the item ? Technically, she damaged the item and the store owner will seek payment as it cannot be sold again. She pays at the register, has the security tag removed and wears it out. All smiles and she has made good as she damaged the item due to her negligence.
So how would you like it if this was happening to you every day - where you keep losing money through theft and you need to either let it go or do something about it like installing CCTV as a prevention solution ?
Now let's just say because of this routine theft at the business, you are told by your boss - sorry I can't afford to keep you on now. What would you do then ? What would do if you found out it was your own kids or a neighbours' or friends of your kids or those from a local school ?
From experience minor theft, brings the SNOWBALL effect - small items then bigger items then major items, then onto cash, burglaries and then move into armed robberies. Ever worked with someone who was busted busted for work theft ? Not a few pens or rulers but cash, equipment and abuse of expenses ? Petty cash ?
In the shopkeepers mind, it's not the perfect solution or asking for $100.00 was good idea in theory but it is extortion in the technical sense. Desperate measures taken for a desperate situation and if I can recall statistics correctly, most retailers make a net profit of around 15% per item so to make up a $100.00 loss, $1,500 EXTRA would need to be sold just to cover that $100.00 loss / day.
Even at a garage sale 4 years back I had kids trying to steal things off the take and even some grandfather trying to steal my lawnmower I had chained up with a for sale sign on it. He told me he had just bought it and when challenged he ran off. So what message are we giving out our children if we have people who are setting wonderful examples ?

How much does your vehicl to work so i bought for d due roa time on the lot of andpee say about you?

Reading the paper, I see so many near new cars for sale that are 3 years old for 1/3 the price they once were. Ok some may have 80,000 k on the clock but they were serviced under new car warranty so just offloaded for a trade up.
I had a Jeep Wrangler for a company car (worked with a property holiday firm who rented cars) and my fave was the Suzuki Siera as I could drive a week on a tank and when the day I returned it, I put in $2.00 of fuel to get the needle off E. Looking at the cost of fuel now, the Patrol was great but got only 4.5 kms / litre but with dual tanks would cost me $280 to fill. The Mercedes was a nice car but unexpected when a friend defaulted on a loan and after spending over $2k on a service had me ready to use it for the time being but sell it when I had rego coming up in 3 months.
Either way, I prefer to see something for my money rather than something losing money in the garage or driveway.

How much does your vehicle say about you?
Posted: 4/10/2008 11:17:54 PM
Having enjoyed nice free company cars for a number of years with fuel cards and or allowances, coming back to reality and paying for your own costs is why I rarely drive into work - not paying $40.00 to park my car and spend 3 hours driving a day. I have had some nice cars including my beloved Mercedes (too small for more than 1 shopping bag) and fuel loving Nissan Patrols, when my own car did the head gasket in twice, I sold it as is and looked to rental for a month ($2k a month).
I ended up buying a $800.00 car with about 10 months rego which I used until the rego expired. I spent $94.00 on wheel covers, new battery, seat covers, fuel and oil filters and of course oil. It was a 4 cylinder so I think I got my money back with the $200.00 a month saving on fuel and when I sold it (having traded and swapped parts for some cash) I sold it to a wrecker who took it as a courtesy car for $100.00.
The issue with owning a fancy car is being worried where you will park it or who is going to key the side of it and or see you as overpaid. My car allowance covers me for fuel and my train fairs as required and saves me 2+hours a day in travel so I can't complain.

A number of years ago I was working in my current profession in the retail industry and I had some ratbag ring head office and always ended up speaking to me. She was busted for shoplifting about $200.00 and was given a CAN - Court Attendance Notice and she was concerned about her name being in the paper and being on ACA or Today Tonight. She would ring every week as it was a cultural shame for her to be caught like this and she knew her husband would divorce her.
Twice a week she would ring for a month and I would get 1:3 phone calls and would reply with the same answers - eventually I had to get the police to have her back off from harassing us. Shoplifters come in all shapes and sizes and mostly it is through greed with full knowledge of right from wrong. Once upon a time a cop or a teacher could let a kid have it with a verbal slug on behaving and that kid would be go away angry but knew he was in big trouble. Now we all sit around hold hands and sing Kum Bah Yah about why they stole from an elderly lady coming from the bank.

Actually what peeves me off the most is the news that DUE to the US broadcast all events for finals like in the Swimming will be held in the day time despite finals always being held in the evening or afternoon of the host nation.
What gives the right of the US media to dictate when and where a broadcast will occur ?

Just have to practice the conception part with a loving lady first ............. I guess my life has been too abnormal by not having a regular 9-5 career like most other people. My ex had kids and they pressured her to have no more - especially with me (grown up) so it never went any further than there. I spoil my neices and nephew rotten as they are my substitute children I guess.

Should we bring our own footy war cry back .

Gay FL did you say ?
Big men who like to jump on each other and call that sport. 17 drongos who cannot afford sleeves on their gurnesys and have names like `The Cats" meeeeeoooeeeewwww sounds a bit of gay pride coming through.
No-one catches a ball in Gay FL they take a mark - and as for hand balling - throw the bloody thing you bunch of girls !!! Play a real sport for once and actually lose the number of players, interchanges and magic water trainers and play full contact with none of this run and bounce the ball stuff.
Now with a real game like Rugby League ........... you get man against man - none of this girly stuff of chasing after a bloke to jump on his back. The drafts are a joke as a bloke who signs up with 1 side can be traded across the country - no contract loyalty at all due to the BS behind it all. Lastly let me say - if it wasn't for Trevor Marmalade the pretend footy show would be dead as Sam Newman should be in a nursing home by now. GO THE SWANNIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOW INCOME EARNERS
Posted: 4/9/2008 6:57:58 PM
Recently, I heard in the media that it now considered that an income of $70k and a car will allow a woman to consider a potential male partner in the dating game. Now that is roughly $1k a week clear and say if renting and wishing to eat as well (even shared rent) you could say goodbye to $400 a week minimum plus car and travel costs, let's say $600.00 to round up the figures. Let us include added extras like going out and say another $100.00 a week (but double that for 2 people) and you end up with $200.00 a week for the savings account.
If you are chasing money then good luck - but when you become the door mat for either party or suddenly are traded in on a newer model because they can afford to upgrade or get a 2nd model - then you are only getting what you deserve. Sadly, I can't be bought and years ago that money does not truly buy happiness, when you look over and find your `so called friends` long gone when things turn sour. But it's ironic that as soon as you are further advanced than what you were, they come out of the woodwork - give my 5 friends over 500 strangers anytime.

Back in the reserves we were doing an exercise with the yanks and we had 2 other sergeants in our company with my same surname so I ended up with Sgt Oz and the others were Sgt Septic and Sgt Yank to make things easier with our joint force. So having left their 10 years ago it just stuck around.

I just wish they would lose the annoying yanks and the annoying yank format on the show. Could be all over in 1/2 the time but we need to be led back into the yank way of these shows (as if we are stupid enough to not know what happened before the ad).
Lose Ajay and get someone decent on there who does not speak like they are morons who are unable to get dressed without a light on. Personally, I would take them to RSL club buffet dinner and see how well they go ................... oh and please lose the psychological BS from the trainers - they are not psychologists so a few days of training in mental stimulation is not going to make them qualified.

LOW INCOME EARNERS
Posted: 4/9/2008 12:38:26 AM
It does not matter what income is earned - some people just want more and will go for it and then you get the people who are very selfish and say "well I am not paying for this - my MONEY is for me to spend on me".
I hate going out for dinner with couples who fight over who is going to pay for dinner at the end of the night or for dessert or something along those lines. Have your domestic at home and who cares who bloody pays for it - should balance out in the end.

1happywoman that is wonderful - NZ is alot easier to get into and they need people with decent accents and not more sheep for the farmers to date.
With the US economic climate right now, I doubt whether I would ever consider moving there even on a semi-permanent basis and to be honest enjoyed my time and short trips but think I would end up going postal with the closed minds of many people there that only believe what they wish to believe.
1happywoman you are a true exception and I wish you every success.

“Has this ever happened to you”
Posted: 4/8/2008 6:30:35 AM
When my mate's exwife took him for thousands after only a few months of marriage I was angry / upset that she had used him to get to NSW and live off his generosity for months previously. Jump forward 6 years and I am working back a bit only to hear a knock on the office door from the Cleaning Manager wanting me to okay a new cleaner's pass for the 1st night. I get HER name and decide to meet this new cleaner only to see the same woman now working as a cleaner - pride comes before the fall.

Housing Affordability

In the space for 24 hours I have seen 2 FOR SALE signs go up for the apartments behind where I am living. My housemate has also seen the Sheriffs come in and evict people in the street from their rentals because of non-payment / foreclosure by the bank.
Last weekend, I went looking at a few foreclosure auctions a few streets away and the HM and I agreed if a bargain came our way we might make and offer and at this one auction our best and fairest offer was some $180k under the bank's reserve and the highest bidder was telling us they wanted $130k more than his offer for his 1st home. As he said - the house will sit there unsold for 6 months whilst it could be cleared of costs and sold at a slight loss to create a cash flow.
Another bidder was saying how before Easter, he went to 1 auction on a foreclosure and managed to borrow more cash on credit cards to cover the shortage and was prepared to sell his car to cover costs but was $12.5k from the banks reserve. He was disappointed but said the banks will lose the $12.5k in 2 months through stupidity and had agreed for his parents to sell their house, live with him and his family so they could be taken care of as they got older. I think that the days of 2 people buying a house or renting out 1/2 a house is going to be the way of the future, sadly.

Planning a wedding.
Posted: 4/7/2008 5:14:35 PM
Hit the net and look at how much you can save and forget in the process.
February / March and Septermber / October are the busiest 4 months of the year - BOOK NOW !!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes people book 18 - 24 months in advance and be expected to walk away when people jack the price up because to be honest - they want 500 guest wog weddings who have no budget to restrict them. Cars - get a non-drinker to hire a car like something prestige for the day and drive you to the ceremony and reception.
Celebrants will hit you for $700 of which $300 is all for fees and I would look at a hall or club for a venue with a licence to have a few drinks. 1 of the best weddings I was at was a catering company roast spit wedding with 3 courses for $25.00 including plates, glasses, etc last year. It was a 2nd ceremony for a girl who married in Fiji so she had guests here from Australia and my mate had me as his MC for the reception. Whole wedding cost them $5k for this one and everyone had a good night without spending a kidney on the whole event.
Send me a private msg if you would like to know a bit more.

New Names for Old Things.
Posted: 4/7/2008 5:06:56 PM
Reminds me of Dirty D1cks Theatre Restaurant where you were all given names to follow as part of the show.
- Master Bates
- General Admision
- Major Screw-Up
- Corporate Punishment
There was a restaurant burger chain in LA in Orange County called FLAKEY JAKES and you would order your meal and they would use a PA to call out your name to get your order in the typical yank accents. So after eating their once and waiting 30 minutes for 1 of the orders to be called out - bloody yanks can't speak english, on our last night there (being underage drinkers) we decided to have some fun and called ourselves BEN DOON, MICHAEL FITZPATRICK, PETER FITZMICAHEL and a few other names in our group. So we sit there, as "BEN DOON, MICHAEL FITZPATRICK, PETER FITZMICAHEL YOUR ORDERS ARE READY" is blasted across the restaurant.
Now being right near Disneyland, the place had a few aussies and kiwi's all dining and you could hear the laughter coming from a few tables around the place. Ok I was 19 at the time and having a good laugh but it was a way of laughing WITH the yanks not at them.

Been there done that and it made life difficult and expensive to when calls to the US were $1.20 a minute. US is very restrictive about moving there and even teaming up with a relative as a sponsor to open up a business, there were major problems with the Green Cards - but if I spoke no English, I could have just walked across the border like many others.
It is far easier for US people to come here but watching a close mate go through hell over his residency seeking US wife, I would be reluctant to be so blind as he was. As they say, love is blind and when you do not see the light, you are caught out in the end. My cousin married a fellow university student and moved to the USA and has a great practice and family but he was fortunate that her family are very well set up for life with old money, so there was never an issue of being poor and struggling, but it is still a big move either way when leaving family and friends behind.

Arkansas Part II

Didn't they make a movie call Deliverance with banjo playing cousins who were all interbred ?
Sick **stards ............... as there is no thought of the illnesses connected with the inbreds and look at the Pharoahs who married their sisters or other royalty who got it on with 1st line cousins.
Forget the exposure to illnesses, but what about school and the same dirty of pervert going to parents and grandparents days ?
I came across some interesting families in my career - including the brother and sister who fathered a son and went on for the father to reproduce with his step sister another girl. Now it was 10 years after I came across these people before I ever knew this and it was purely by accident that it was known that when 1 of the adult kids, and the inbred son died from a blood disease, that the father did not last too much longer with the same disease. If anyone has seen the movie SNAKEATERS, think of the inbreeders in that movie - I rest my case.

Sad sack single person meal- can you beat this ?
Posted: 4/6/2008 4:14:35 PM
With so many RSL and bowling clubs around to enjoy a decent meal at - no sad sack meal as often my House Mate will just say `meet you at the club for dinner` where we can get a feed for $8 - 15. The $5.00 roast nights were pretty good as they came with desert or soup and all up you might spend $10.00 and have it ready as you walk in almost.

Is there a difference between American and Australian Women
Posted: 4/3/2008 5:43:12 PM
It all depends if they are cousins who get married in some parts ........... but that was subject to a movie about a canoe ride down a river.
As posted, Aussie girls are more worldly and have travelled more than their US counterparts and this comes down to the size of the country, costs and availability of travel too. Aussie women tend to be more liberal and able to go with the flow where as the US girls are very much established in their lives, watch the clock as everything is very complex and any thought of doing something different is not possible.
Best example of intrigue with the US and Australia was during WWII where many fights were had between the rough and ready Aussies and those Lanky Yanks with their accents, flash uniforms and gifts of chocolates and nylon stockings. It comes down to the intrigue and the fascination with a new culture.

Is there a difference between American and Australian Women
Posted: 4/3/2008 5:56:08 AM
I have to agree with those of you, who have also experienced the warmth of US women. The southern girls are totally different from all others and I guess it comes down to their up upbringing and family who insist that if you are not married by 21, you are an old maid. These women never forget their charm as they get older and really know how to make you feel welcome as a guest, friend, or stranger from afar.
American women like many women, look for something different in life and it is the romance of a foreigner with a different accent who will listen to them and speak of so many different things but because they are stuck in a dreary life with some drongo who thinks his poker night is more important than spending time with the family, they are intrigued with Aussie men and the fact we give them a bit of attention.
Overall, I would say the US women are very unique and tend not to be so superficial as other countries might be - but opening up their world to other thoughts is something that US men need to watch out for as the women do have choices in life. Who wants to work in a place where 1 week vacation is considered standard, medical insurance costs thousands of dollars a year and how your whole life is dictated by society ?
Well you never know when I may just take a long holiday and have a good look in the US again 1 day.

After this thread I felt compelled to ring former customers of mine who bought a tiny weatherboard house from me through vendor finance. I bought it up the Central Coast on a tiny sliver of land - just 2 bathrooms and an old weather board house purchased by some retirees who were waiting to move into their new seniors estate just built. So after a week of painting, mowing and fixing broken things, I leased it to the first couple I met for $80.00 a week and a few months later we agreed to vendor finance the place as the old girl was still working 2 days a week and the old bloke was retired.
They had never owned a house in their 40 years of marriage and we discussed them getting the first home owner's grant as well. Making the rent to $120.00 a week ensured they got a deposit and 2 years later with rent at $130.00 a week (including deposit payment) they signed contracts and officially had their own home. 14 months later on Boxing Day I was invited to their home for lunch to be handed a cheque for the balance of the loan. The old bloke had a found a lost super account which paid me out and allowed them to own their home. I only paid $43k for this place in 1997 and the owners know they got a good deal in owning their first home together.

I guess he went to the Bill Clinton School of Personal Discretion with such wonderful graduates as Shane Warne and Pinnochio.
Personally he should dig a whole and bury himself as he is of earthly good to the universe but worm food.

Are some truths better left unsaid ?

Agree with Pookie and her disciples (LOL).
It is the greed of the almighty $$$ and sadly the US is the prime example but they forget to tell you in the US, that all game prizes are subject to a 30% tax ?
I know the show is all for drama as to how it is edited and so forth for the US market as Aussie don't need to be retold the same story 99 times, but it showed an idiot of a woman who will have hidden behind her greedy father. The girl was caught lying - so don't sugar coat it anymore.
Baronoz - your last line summed it all up.

I am just curious, Martin Bryant, Ted Bundy, Hoddle St Masacre Idiots, Sydney Hilton Bombers, Charles Manson ............. can I go on with people like Ivan Milat and the like ? The people deserve to die instead of being portrayed as some sort of hero or martyrs to some sicko's.
Now I wonder if you came home to find a loved one raped, murdered and other horrible things how much you would be holding hands and singing songs with the person/s who killed and or attacked your loved ones ?
Would you be so happy and heartful about someone who hurt a child or an elderly perosn like those mongrels who attack the young and the frail ?
Personally, I could rope up and pull the lever for the trap door, flick the switch on the generator, load the rifle and shoot them, and personally inject the needles into the arms of such people. Call me cold, call me whatever you like but these people deserve to die - as their actions through the death or pain of 1 person will affect the lives of their families and friends for the remainder of their lives. Kill someone in a drink driving incident - hell you should be run over as well. Toss a rock at a car from a ridge - line up next to your drink driving mate for a double bonus.

Girls, show us you don't support fur by going furless always !!
If there is to be a death penalty then do it - don't sit there for years with a bloke in solitude and make sure it is done without mucking around. This grandstanding business is just another excuse for forgiveness from church nutters ......... switch him on, inject the 3 syringes or shoot the bugger. Jails are too overcrowded now so let's move em out with a congaline and not years of sitting on death row.

Gee - if I had a hat on I would take it off to you right now. Firstly for surviving your divorce with your kids and Secondly for purchasing a premises you had as your own that was not the Ritz but it was yours though struggling of course like many people do with repayments. If more people were able to take a step back from their want of a mansion to what they could truly afford, then things would be better.
Owning a house is what many Australians see as their `right` and with hundreds of lenders out there willing to give up 110% loans people take the bait without calculating exactly what their real budget is. I went to a wedding in January of a girl I work with - just Mr and Mrs Average with a lunch time wedding and 60 guests. She told me that a wedding 1/2 the size at lunch time and a honeymoon in Qld saved them $15k which went to their deposit. Both have 10 y/o cars and simple furniture and fortunately she works 1 hour more a day in overtime which she remarks that means they can eat tonight (but in reality her husband drives past to go home together). But to remain ahead they need to keep reality and their budget in good order.
Visiting friends at Easter, I noticed the FOR SALE sign on the lawn and asked if they were moving as I knew they rented whilst working in NSW. A neighbour told me it had been up for sale off and on for almost 2 years as the owner was greedy and could have sold when prices were 20% higher. My friends have been renting there for 8 months as they are working in NSW until December but pointed out to several homes which are up for a foreclosure auction by the banks to repay debt of the owners.

Friends with Benefits , would you? could you? have you? Is it a claytons relationship?
Posted: 3/31/2008 4:17:43 PM
It depends on how things come about - first time you may lose a friend in the process if the other feels disappointed or guilty of taking advantage of the other. The best remedy would be to try it again ............... and again ........ and again.
If mutually agreed on, this is alot safer than going out alone or when you are down looking for company (men and women). I did once have a close personal friend whom we shared some good company and would often go out to dinner, movies, parties and also social events when a partner was needed to blend in. Best part was just enjoying the company of someone you bonded to who could give you the mutual respect in a relationship. Sadly she did fly to the UK to for a Nursing contract and that was it.
Jealousy does play a part when the other person finds a partner and you no longer have that contact and as Pookie stated - you often give part of yourself in the relationship without realising it. Now if I can get her to meet me 100 times so she can give a bit of herself each time ........... I would have the whole woman !!
