Would you date someone on antidepressants?
Posted:

People do not realize that Mental Illness is not to be in that black hole that everyone avoids. Many people in this thread have hit the nail on the head. There is STILL a stigma attached with people with mental ILLNESS.
Yes, it is an illness. Most if not all people do not choose to have a mental health condition. It is a medical condition just like diabetes, blindness, impaired hearing, or any other disability. The medical profession though is the ones that have the most stigma about it.
We need to make sure that the stigma goes away and that these people are treated just like any other person. If people are being monitored medically and are taking meds or doing therapy that they need to do, then why continue to shun them.
As for dating someone with a mental health concern, why not? As long as they are acknowledging their illness and treating it, then what is the problem. Should people not consider them just like any other human being?
Remember when you were a kid? Everyone was the same, accepted. It was not until you started to grow that there were people that did not make the line. Whether it was a racial bias, a disability bias, an appearance bias, or whatever. People need to change how they view others and return to the ways of the kids.
Dating someone on AD drugs should be the same as the question would you date someone of the gender you are attracted to? The answer SHOULD be yes.
So the short answer for me is, I would definately date or be involved with someone who takes AD drugs as long as they are stable on them.

What do women look for in an initial email from a guy
Posted:
3/25/2008 10:09:32 PM
Whatever ever happenned to people really being interested in people for more than the superficial things.
A person SHOULD read the whole profile and should look at the substance of a profile before sending any kind of email to the intended recipient. When you send that email, I do agree that a person should relate their comments to something in the profile. Something maybe about themselves as well.
I personally think that the "Wrapper" is not as significant as the "Candy bar" itself. Things change over time and the only thing that a person can normally count on is the personality and values the person has. This, I say, is a normal happening, but not one that always occurs. I would love to see more people feeling this way, but cannot force anyone to do anyting.
What is it with the initial emails to someone, "Do you have a pic"? Maybe more people should consider "read/delete" on those too?

Breast Reduction Surgery

A female friend of mine, her daughter had it done. The doctor did tell her all the complications that could happen and what needed to be done afterwards.
One of the main things that happenned was the incisions at the bottom of the breasts got infected and had to be handled by the doctor.
I know she was in pain for a fair amount of time and she was around your daughters age at the time she had it done as well.
I hope for all the best with you and your daughters challenge.

The Secret
Posted:
2/18/2008 11:23:42 PM
Some of you may be right in the fact that it is the same idea with new packaging. Then again, it may be wrong as well.
There is something to be said for positive thinking and personally I have found watching the DVD of "The Secret" has helped me in many ways. You have to learn the ideas and views presentated as well as practice them on an ongoing basis. I have seen a lot of changes in the views and ideas I practice in daily life as a result of watching the dvd. I have been told that the dvd is different than the book. Habing not read the book, I cannot comment on that.
What I will say is that the people that have not read it or seen the dvd should not make negative views of it. As well, just because you feel it may not work for you does not mean it will not work for others. Same thing as in diets...some work for some but not for others.
The whole idea of the secret is think positively, want it, and it will come.

If you read the heading, this was held last year in may. The ride was a ride and meal afterwards (if you wanted) and then some of us went to Black diamond afterwards.
Sorry that you came across this, but the event was already held. As well, there are pics posted from the event.

Welcome back DB2:
As for next year, I am not sure and would not wish to comment for fear of being wrong. The only thing that I can say is that based on past history, it was felt that no matter which day was chosen, people had a reason that they could not make it during the summer so therefore that is why they stayed with Sundays.
There could be a possibility that they could start earlier in the year and not play the long weekends, I am not too sure. Can make the suggestion and see what happens. I am not too sure though when I can do this, as the current years league manager is stepping down and we have not chosen a new one for next year.
Hope everyone is well and has a good year through the winter.

Dating a woman with spoiled kids???
Posted:
8/27/2007 10:32:57 PM
For some reason a lot of people are missing the points made here. The point that the OP made was that this kid was spoiled (in their mind) and that this was dividing the two adults.
The mother is the one that needs to set the record straight. If this person means as much to her as he thinks he does, then she needs to discuss things with her teen daughter. Some points raised as the teen daughter not wanting someone else in her life to get her dad back is valid. Maybe she still thinks it is a possibility. Maybe it is just that she is a teen and is going through the grief in her own way of losing the availablility of her other parent, or just does not wish anyone to try and replace that person.
There are many reasons that teens would do this, but I am sure that if the relationship is new as it seems, that the teen should never have been introduced this soon. It is not the right of the new guy to come in and change things. He can discuss it with Mom, and even offer suggestions, but the final decision should be mom's no matter what.
I wish the OP all the best, and to try and remember that the teen is a teen and that the Mother is the only one that can fix this matter.

Leaving a job with no 2 weeks notice
Posted:
8/27/2007 12:53:41 PM
In response to the Cali fact of having to get paid...not here in Alberta...CANADA. Here the laws are a little different. They can let you go with no notice if they give you pay in leiu of. Also if you leave without notice then they do not have to pay for for the amount of notice you should have given.
This is in absense of a contract that says otherwise...
Maybe this province is A$$ backwards, and I personally think so, but that is how it is.

Leaving a job with no 2 weeks notice
Posted:

@eeek
Just ask yourself why you have to give two weeks notice and they give zero
The reason for this is if they do not give it to you then they have to pay you for the time, if you leave without notice, they do not have to pay you for the time already worked. This means you are out some money.
For me, I would rather find another job and give them the notice, then have them not give me the money I am entitled to.
My .25 worth...inflation you know...and here in Alberta...Businesses are screaming for people.

Well another year of ball has happened and would like to thank all the die hards that came out to the games, especially the ones that came out to the end of year tourney and played in the rain.
To let everyone know, we did not come in last and hoping next year will be even better.
As well, thanks again for MKD for helping out with the team duties in my time of need due to my injuries from ball. You were really a great help this year.
I wish everyone a great year and look forward to having another team next year.
All the best...

Just a little note to everyone...
The first game is for Sunday (August 26, 2007) at the Bus trap diamond. Please show for 930 so that we can start on time. The games are at 10, 1230, 300 with the wrap up party at 530-600. The diamonds are bus trap, Silver springs school, Silverview.
The party will be at the Community center in the back and they are supplying corn on the cob, and the drinks left from the season. You will have to bring your own food, appetizers and deserts as well as any beverages you wish to have in addition.
Prizes will be awarded to the teams at that time as well for the year. As a note, please bring your own picnic/camping chairs as seating is limited. In addition if you have a bbq you could bring, that would be appreciated as well.
See you all there at 930.

Looking for Curlers for 2007-2008 Co-ed Curling season at Garrison Club (Calgary S.W.)
Posted:
8/25/2007 3:15:34 PM
Well I guess you could spare, but if you wanted to be on a team, I would presume it would depend on how many you were missing.
if you were away more than you were there, it may be better to be a spare than to be on a team. People are always looking for spares, or you could also be a rover. This would mean a membership but then you would be able to play any position on any team when you were available.

Hey all:
Well it is the end of the season and we are at the tournament stage.
The tourney starts at 930 am on Sunday 26th of August at the bus trap. We will be playing 3 games that day and we start out being home team vs. team 4.
If anyone has a small bbq that they can bring for the windup after the tourney it would be appreciated. Prizes and corn on the cob are being supplied along with any beverages left over from the year.
Bring your own food for yourselves and to share as well. You also might want to bring some camping chairs etc.
Hope to see everyone out as we need as many palyers as possible as there will be 3 games played.

Hey H and R... (since I could not message you privately due to your restrictions)
You know a few people attending your event I think would have been interestingin attending a different event planned on the same day. This was planned months ago, and now that you have chosen the same date, I have been told it takes away from both events.
Just a request, maybe in the future, see if there is something else that is planned that might conflict before setting a date, please?

Boy CB you sure got home in a hurry. I hope that your foot is not hurting too badly in the morning and that maybe you can dance some more in the near future.
Yes, you are correct as well in that it was nice meeting some new people and even some of the "older" crowd even if Mr. Baker acted like a geriatric at times...
Thanks again for the invite, and it helped that it was even close. Maybe next time we can go somewhere that the majority of people are not of an age that they can be our sons and daughters?

Even with the hot weather....we are still playing this week. The game is to be held at the Silverview diamond and I plan on being there. I would suggest people brings lots of fluids as it is supposed to be another scorcher tomorrow.
As well, I hope that there will be more people show up this week than last. Although I was sick in bed and a little out of it, I heard that we did not have a lot of people but those that did show had a ball...hehehe
So hope to see you all tomorrow.

We tend to ramble, stray off the subject, it's just our Southern laid back manner...
Well I am from Alberta Canada, cowboy"redneck" country and just thought that being on topic was something that was needed in forums. That is not to say I am a redneck.
I just thought thqt I would put my twenty five cents worth (inflation you know) and also to keep on topic.
Hope that I did not step on anybody's toes

I am just wondering why you guys have changed the content of this topic...
What do cellphones a fav lists have to do together...or myspace a fav lists?
I recall the OP mentioning on when to remove someone off your fav list. Personally, if I have not heard from a person after a short while, then I will message them and ask them why they added me. If I do not hear from them, then I delete them. I think that is the most simple way.

I was correct the first time as if you count the fact that the other team would have defaulted due to lack of players that makes us 3-0. If you are not counting that fact, then yes we are 2-1 but 3-0 in the fun dept.

'tis true we are going to be without that person...BUT...I am hoping that the rest of us are going to be able to hold the fort down till she gets back. After all, with our record we cannot afford to blemish it.
I will see everyone that is coming out at 630 on Sunday at the field. And MAYBE...just maybe...we might even have a new person for the backup catcher position. What do you think MKD? Is this possible?

I fully agree with you about a group. The prices are in tune with a lot of the brunches around town, within a range, but the group is always a nice touch.
I was trying to get a group together, but it seems that when it came down to the crunch no one really wanted to go. So I guess that is the reason this thread died the first time. I thought that maybe, just maybe, some people would like to go for brunch again for a change.

Hoping that the people who have or are fathers are having a good celebration. For those of you that dont or aren't, like me, wishing you all the best this weekend as well.
See you at the game on next Sunday or at batting practice/Moose's on Tuesday.
JB out.

ok all..
The Blackfoot is booked. I even tried to squeeze in as I have gone there a lot and still no go. Their pricing was around 20.00
I called the Delta South. They have some space at around 930 am or after 1230 pm. They are at 26.95 for adults and 22.95 for seniors, 12.95 for kids and kids under six free with an adult.
I have tentatively put a hold on 7 seats there for 1230. I would like to know if anyone still wishes to go. I have gone their before and they have a nice spread for brunch. Very well put together. They are located on Southland Drive and Bonaventure Drive. Their number is 403-278-5050 if you wish to call for directions.
The Glenmore Inn is also booked full.
Also Smugglers inn is fully booked as well.
The Carriage House is available for walkin. They are located on 90th ave and Macleod Trail and are at 22.95 for adults. They said that all reservations are booked but if we came around 10 am then should not be a long delay. i have never been there for brunch so do not know what it is like.
Comments, suggestions? Need to book the delta...if that is where we go by later today.

As posted earlier, I was thinking some in the southeast. I am in the southwest and these places are not too hard to get to from Deerfoot normally.
As well they have some really good spreads. Anyone else interested?
