Is it possible to control attraction?

The most attractive quality I find in women these days is "If They Are Not Completely & Utterly Repulsed By My Presence". That is Such A Turn On For Me!

Image Rating Problem - Gone from my profile?

However, you can not see your "fans" anymore (At least not that I can find.)

Well… so much for two people who rated each other highly being able to identify each other and make contact, connect, and live happily ever after!

Why would we want that option on A DATING WEBSITE? That would be silly huh!

A question for the ladies. Why is it that .....
Posted: 9/1/2009 2:57:55 PM

Actually, a man looks better when he is with a woman. Take the ugliest man you've ever seen and if he is married, he just looks better. And why is that, you ask? It's a spiritual thing. "The woman is the glory of the man" - I Cor. 11:17 She's shining on him with her glory.

Now take the same ugly man and picture him single. See, what'd I tell ya?

Oh Great!

So not only are we expected to color coordinate our clothes, be wrinkle free, and wear matching socks, ...but we also now have to accessorize a Chickie Poo into our wardrobe to get the upper edge?

I wonder if a Blonde or a Brunette would look better with this shirt???

I agree completely Elaine! In fact- I posted this over a year ago...

One thing that annoys me here in the (Ohio) forums is the amount of self-proclaimed hierarchy some members display by voting to delete so many threads.

I’m sure in some cases it is justified, but, I am just glad that my mouse came with a nifty “scroll” feature that allows me to bypass threads that do not interest me instead of imposing my delusions of grandeur upon the other members!

In my opinion it is this tendency that keeps the Ohio Forums inactive and stale.

I initially joined this site for the forums- and the fact that there was a place regionally (ie the Ohio Forums) for us to congregate was all the better! You could converse with people who are actually geographically reasonable to meet in the real!

In all of my time here I am glad to say that I have not Voted To Delete One Single Solitary Thread! Even if does not interest me because this place does not exist just for me- it is for the collective!

Every time I look for interesting topics the Ohio forums are plagued with "Event" or "Pictures Of Events" Treads. Now I am not knocking events, in fact I think they are Great, but it seems to me that given the chance to get to know some people here through the forums would only ultimately increase attendance in Event Turn Outs which would in turn make the Entire Core Concept Of This Website More Effective!

After all... isn't that the purpose here... to bring people together?

Advice on messaging?
Posted: 5/5/2009 7:34:37 AM
Forget talking- it's all about the picture man! In my abundant research on the subject I have discovered conclusive data that unequivocally reveals the one irresistible trait that brings The Ladies Of POF to their knees, flooding your inbox, and eventually your bed. Drum Roll Please...

The Shirtless Pic! Yes, it really is Just That Easy! They absolutely Love It, cant get Enough Of It, fall Head Over Heels for it Every Time. Even better- a shirtless pic in front of your Ultra Cool Sports Car.

Now… if you really want to be a Champion of Champions with the ladies here then try the Shirtless pic in front of your Ultra Cool Sports Car with your Whopping Investment Portfolio and Righteous Bank Statement sprawled out over the hood of said Ultra Cool Sports Car!

Me, I am an overachiever by nature so I even went the extra mile and put my 8th Grade Football Trophy on the hood for display as well. Of course I added to the caption that I just happened to be outside polishing it when the picture was “unbeknownst” to me “randomly shot”. Otherwise I would have just looked lame! You know?

Ok, you with me so far? Good! Now… and most importantly… as I stated above, if done incorrectly you could really end up looking like a Cheesy Goofball, but don’t worry, this is where that annoying About Me section comes in to play because, lets face it, there is a small percentage of women that will actually question if this photo is too Chachi. Ya, like a guy can’t just be outside enjoying the sunshine reviewing his financial records leaning over his car, right? Women, such fickle creatures!

But... don’t despair (just like I am sure you have probably assumed) I have all the answers!

The Chachi-esque notion is easily refuted if you employ just the right wording in your About Me Section. Just write something to the effect of how you enjoy the great outdoors and how you feel at one with nature making this the best opportune moment to focus and decipher the complex equations of your Economic Archives. Side stepped that landmind didn't we ;)

You see? It is just that easy! In a few short sentences you just took a picture that could be construed as Lame & Self-Worshiping to firmly establishing yourself as A True Man Among Men!

Trust me, there area million ways to look a fool on here and very few ways to achieve Cool. I mean- I actually saw one guy posing with his guitar in his picture. Are you serious? Give it a rest already Bon Jovi! What a dork! Anyways, take my advise and you should be fighting them off from here on out!

Happy Fishing!

Good point! One thing that can make these sort of relationships flourish is the checks & balances and having different strengths & weaknesses because when they are both purged into one concerted effort the sum can certainly be greater than the individual parts! It’s the Yin & Yang of it all. ;)

It’s All About The Dynamics!
Posted: 3/3/2009 4:32:36 PM
Why is it that so many people aim for someone with whom they share so much ”in common” with in regards to relationship possibilities? I mean, I get that there needs to be certain common ground from which to build upon, but, do you really want a carbon copy of yourself? Lets move passed the whole life goals, ambitions, and certain character traits that are a given and go a step beyond...

Some of my most passionate and intimate relationships were with women who were my polar opposite in many regards and I really enjoyed the dynamics that it brought into play. I absolutely love to be the student and the teacher… to leave my comfort zone and explore new worlds… as well as play host to a friendly new alien into mine. I think the learning curves of each other can build fascinating bonds by a feast of intrigue.

Agree? Disagree? What says you?

An 85-year –old man went to his doctor's office to get a sperm count. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, "Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow”.

The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar- which was as clean and empty as on the previous day.

The doctor asked what happened and the man explained;

"Well, doc, it's like this – First I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, Then her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, First with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, and still nothing. We even called up Martha the lady next door and she tried too! First with both hands, then an armpit and she even tried Squeezin' it between her knees, but still nothing”.

The doctor was shocked! "You asked your neighbor?" The old man replied, "Yep. And no matter what we tried we still could not get the damn jar open.

The term “too much” is subjective therefore you will see variance with every participant of this thread. This is a user defined community and as such has many flavors- to each their own.

Visiting Northeast Ohio this august!
Posted: 7/24/2008 8:13:13 AM
I’ve only been to Canton once (earlier this year) but was pleasantly surprised by many factors. Firstly, the economic development seemed to be on the rise, at least in the area we were in (near the new mall). It was as if everything in this particular area was brand new and/or very well maintained and groomed.

Secondly, everyone was very friendly and there was an abundance of attractive women throughout- at least from my vantage point.

Thirdly, the nightlife was a lot of fun! During our two night stay we ended up at Panini’s/ The Pub and some other club that had a some kind of German name.

Panini’s/ The Pub was kind of a unique place that has a college campus style grille that serves food late into the evening. The Panini’s side of the bar has live rock bands while The Pub side has a dance club vibe with a huge dance floor. Both places have separate entrances outside but adjoin inside via a short hallway.

It also has a huge tropical style patio complete with tiki bars and large palm trees. We arrived there kind of late but got introduced to the owner to discuss a business matter and she gave us a complete tour of the large facility. Very nice place!

I am looking forward to working in that area again soon!

I am not particularly a religious person by any means but I’ve always found solace in The Serenity Prayer.

And it goes...

God, grant me the serenity

To accept the thing I cannot change

The courage to change the things I can

And the wisdom to know the difference.

However short in verbiage, it is, infinite in wisdom! Think about the words- reread them if you need must.

To me, the first step is to identify the source of discontentment. Once that is determined it makes it much easier to properly find long term resolve. In which case The Serenity Prayer helps me to ascertain “what” of the situation is circumstance and “what” is of my own doing.

It is a great way to accurately assess the situation therefore giving you greater insight to determine the best course of action.

Personally, I can size up situations and find solutions to problems very quickly. It is the “pinpointing” of what “the problem” is that often eludes me initially. That is why I find The Serenity Prayer particularly helpful if that makes any sense.

Hope that helps-

Seems highly unlikely- can you post the source of this information?

Most people are already paying for an ISP. Beyond that, some sites choose to charge a premium for there services, while other sites (like POF) rely on advertisements for funding.

Gas Price increase. What do you think?
Posted: 6/10/2008 7:39:44 PM

MADRID (AFP) - Two lorry drivers were killed on picket lines in Spain and Portugal on Tuesday as strikes by thousands of truckers over soaring fuel prices turned deadly.

Spanish police escorted petrol supply tankers into Barcelona on the second day of the stoppage that has caused food and fuel shortages and huge tailbacks on the Spanish-French border.

French railway workers began their own walkout, increasing the transport chaos.

A Portuguese driver was killed after he was hit by a truck as he manned a barricade filtering traffic near Alcanena, north of Lisbon.

A police spokesman quoted witnesses as saying the 52-year-old man climbed onto the side of a truck in a bid to stop it and fell off under the wheels, Lusa news agency reported.

Later Tuesday, a truck driver in Spain was run over and killed by a van as he manned a picket line outside a wholesale market in the southern city of Granada, police said.

Road haulage representatives suspended strike negotiations with the Spanish government following the incident.

Other trucks in Portugal and Spain have been stoned or had their windows smashed and tyres punctured for working during the national strikes.

A total of 15 people, most of them manning picket lines, were arrested in Spain Tuesday for disturbing public order, assault or threats, Spanish media said.

Tens of thousands of truckers are on strike or joining the protests to demand government help to offset the higher fuel costs.

Authorities in northern Spain ordered emergency measures after many petrol stations in the Catalonia region ran out of fuel.

"Twenty tanker trucks escorted by the regional police left an industrial zone this morning for Barcelona port to help supply and distribute to petrol stations in the region," a regional police spokesman told AFP.

Forty percent of petrol stations in Catalonia have run out of fuel, according to Manuel Amado, president of the Catalonia Federation of Service Stations.

Arrivals of fresh meat, fish and fruit in Madrid have come to a near halt, according to officials at the Mercamadrid market, Spain's biggest wholesale market. They said that fish would be in short supply from Thursday but stocks of other foods should last until the end of the week.

Automakers in Spain said most of the country's automobile plants, including those of Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Seat and Renault, have had to cut or halt production.

Auto plants are particularly vulnerable to a strike by hauliers, which provide them with spare parts.

Truckers stopped lorries from crossing the French-Spanish border and caused major tailbacks around major Spanish cities, including Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

Spanish and French truckers staged pickets on either side of the frontier between the two countries. They blocked a bridge on the border at Bidassoa in the western Basque region and other main crossing points.

On the French side, service areas on motorways were packed with trucks from the border right back to Bordeaux, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) away.

Spain's second largest hauliers' union Fenadismer, which claims to represent 70,000 out of Spain's 380,000 truck drivers, launched an open-ended strike on Monday.

Talks Monday between the hauliers and the government ended in failure, Fenadismer said.

The Portuguese government said it hoped to have an agreement with its truckers by the end of the week.

A separate strike by workers at the French rail company, SNCF, severely hit rail traffic.

About half of intercity and local commuter trains were running along with about three quarters of TGV high speed trains from Paris to southwest France. Some express commuter lines into Paris were badly affected by the strike.

Spanish fisherman were keeping up their strike against fuel prices but most French trawlers have decided to go back to work after several weeks of blocking ports and access to oil refineries.

Sherilyn, as an adult you have the right to come to that conclusion, as a parent you can even enlist that doctrine upon you own children if you see fit, but as an educator that is far beyond your discretion in my opinion.

I am not very knowledgeable on asperger’s but I do have a nephew affected with autism. I know first hand the difficulties this disorder can afflict on a child and their families.

I have seen variations in this disorder that are as different as night and day. Some cope and interact quite proficiently while other struggle with common day to day communications and elementary functions.

My nephew certainly is on a more severe scale of symptoms than most I have seen but he is still a human being worthy of respect and doesn’t deserve to be demoralized by anyone.

So I was exchanging verbiage with this young lady here on POF. Very light, not flirty, just friendly as she is just seeking friends to hung out with this summer. Fine by me, it’s been interesting conversation passing a slow Sunday away.

Anyways, she tells me to let her know the next time I will be in her area so she can stop in and say “hello”. Well it just so happens that I will be nearby this evening performing an acoustic set at an Open Mic Night so inform her and invite her to pop in for a (word filter fumble- read below).
-----------------------------------------
[kók tàyl] Noun
1. mixed beverage: a drink that is made up of a mixture of different beverages, for example, fruit juice or soda and usually alcohol, and served iced or chilled
-----------------------------------------
Funny huh? So, the in my message it appears that I invited her over for a four letter word that gets filtered and appears as ****.

Now honestly, within the context of the paragraph I am sure she will be able to put together what I was attempting to say (hopefully) but you may want to be careful what you type as you could come out looking like some internet pervy.

Anyone have any word filter fumbles to share?

A friend and I have a bad habit of bringing our acoustic guitars into random bars, slamming a few Cherry Bombs, and hammering out some of the best/worst hits of the last 25 years.

Is there a patio or somewhere accommodating that we can bang out a few tunes or is that not a good idea? It usually entertains the smokers on the patio if nothing.

I think it was Robin Williaims who said “God gave men both a penis and a brain- but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time”

That’s why we are reduced to caveman like grunts and a primitive thought process before, during, and after sex.

>>I don’t know if this has been posted already as I did not read this entire thread but I thought this was funny<<<

On Christmas morning a cop on horseback is sitting at a traffic light, and next to him is a kid on his shiny new bike. The cop says to the kid, "Nice bike you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?"

The kid replies, "Yeah."

The cop says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put a tail-light on that bike."

The cop then proceeds to issue the kid a $20.00 bicycle safety violation ticket.

The kid takes the ticket and before he rides off says, "By the way, that's a nice horse you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?"

Humoring the kid, the cop says, "Yeah, he sure did."

The kid continued, "Well, next year tell Santa to put the****underneath the horse, instead of on top."

If you could travel anywhere?
Posted: 11/26/2007 10:09:13 PM
I would like to travel to a Latin country, Columbia perhaps. I know just enough Spanglish to probably get myself into trouble but it is such a beautiful language. I would like to be somewhere were I would be submerged in a foreign culture, not a touristy area. I don’t want to see any white faces or hear any English whatsoever, truly inundated.

This may sound odd, but I would like to be a minority, where I have to adapt to get by just doing day to day things like ordering a meal, or getting directions, etc. Imagine the adventures to be had in just doing minuscule activities. I like to be challenged and be mentally stimulated I guess that’s why I find this scenario so appealing.

'Hooching it up for your man.

I am all for it. If you feel confident and secure enough within your relationship isn’t it nice to be able to lay all of your flavors out on the table without fear of the judgmental constraints of society? Ideally your significant other is the one person with whom you can share every facet of your being.

So slut it up for your man occasionally. Rock his world and keep him on his toes, or even better, on his back! Throw some spice in that stew and crank that knob to the right until it boils! Likely you will be repaid 10 fold...

Why does he not want to stay friends after we break up.?
Posted: 11/25/2007 10:24:23 AM
Please allow me to translate his man-speak for you for it varies greatly from womanese.

When a man says “enough is enough....time to move on and lets not ever have any contact again“ what he is actually trying to communicate to you is enough is enough, time to move on, and lets not ever have any contact again.

There comes a time when friendships (lovers or otherwise) run their course and are no longer worth the effort. Your ex has reached that point with you and no longer wants to participate. This is his prerogative.

As to your question of how can you get him to change his mind and stay in touch with you?

In all likelihood it has far more to do with you, your previous actions, and what has already transpired between the two of you giving little consequence to the damage control campaign you’re on now.

Respect his wishes and move on…

a man's sensuality....

Robin Williams once said “its cold weather like this that makes you realize men have nipples too”.

I am wondering how men feel about their breasts/nipples

...And please never refer to a man chest as breasts ever again, thank you.

Are there any real Gentleman left?
Posted: 11/23/2007 1:07:35 AM
Ladies, this whole true gentlemen thing is a myth, a fabrication, an elaborate farce just lead you on to nomadic wild goose chases in search of thee invisible man.

Its kind of like Big Foot, The Lock Ness Monster, and that pesky elusive G-spot... you always hear about them but no one had actually found one in real life.

What do you LIKE about the opposite sex?
Posted: 11/23/2007 12:30:35 AM
Women are beautiful mystical creatures. The counterpart to any man who ever hopes to be complete. That little puzzle piece that’s been missing from us since our pubescent revelations.

The smell of their hair, their sheer feminine luster, soft skin, and delicate features. They are small, and fragile, and can at times be crazy irrational little organisms, but hey, they are the nurturers and the bearers of life itself. The mothers of existence.

To win the love and devotion of a dedicated woman is to reap beyond measure.

Small price to pay for a rib ay?
