Calgary - PoF Christmas Dance Dec 19th
Posted:

About.com defines semi-formal as:
...Semi-Formal or After Five means that tuxes are not required, nor are long dresses. An evening wedding (after 6 PM) would still dictate dark suits for him, and a****ail dress for her. Daytime semi-formal events mean a suit for him and an appropriate short dress or dressy suit for her...
But we will forgo the tie requirement for gents, and colour is not an issue.
The dress code is semi-formal, exceptions may be made due to special circumstance.
Those requesting such exception should contact one of the hosts or hostesses.

The fuzzy line between real life and POF
Posted:

What is surprizing for me, is that people that are no longer, or at least they say so, on the site and they remember you from two or three years ago, even more freaky is that it happened twice in one night, different people and different locations!
No need to freak out, we are in the public domain, and up for scrutiny or recognition, they approach you because you gave indication of being approachable on line, so why not.
Sorry Ms.F***ingSunshine, but is only real if you think it is, or could it be a figment of our imagination. Some of the people are so real they are scary, others leave room for imagination of what could or should be!

Calgary Christmas Cookie Exchange (homemade)
Posted:
11/13/2009 12:56:21 PM
Wouldn't it more interesting to have everyone bake them at one place, rotate using the oven, keep the chatter and imbibing going while cookies are in the oven and one does the mixing and prep of their recipe? Everyone bring their own ingredients.
That's what I would call a good cookie exchange, and the host and family get all the "overcooked" ones.
Get hungry watching some one bake, then milk and cookies for the trip home

Do you read the profile?
Posted:

...what I'm objecting to is the amount of smokers who add me or send me mail when it clearly states in my profile ...
Then what you should do is enter in your "restrictions portion of mail, smokers. If they offend you that much, then make them suffer by getting the message "this user is not accepting mail from you smoke (or something like that)"
Works for other restrictions, why not that too?
I always read a profile, then I look at the restrictions, I should do it the other way round, then I wouldn't have to read so much!

I don't think a beer in each hand , a big green and black logo on the wide panels and a tag saying (open here) constitutes pj's does it, let alone if they can be found with the hole soled boots at the foot of someone else's bed ??

... Wild Rose Alliance are a party that is about 18 months old ...
The concept of the Wild Rose came into being about 15-18 years or so ago, not just 18 months ago, perhaps if they are taking that long to become a reality, it explains the effectiveness that they would have in power!
At that time they chose to drop the Wild Rose portion and called themselves the Alliance party, so what is new about it?

All ages are welcome on this or any other date. We have had them as young 1 year and needing a high chair, of which there are at least 3, and once in awhile some of the "older" kids have been forced to use these devices.
We try to limit the conversation to that which is acceptable when the young ones are around, but occasionally we do faulter.
If you want a test run, we do meet here nearly every week from 10:15 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m. during the winter and it will go until sometimes 2 during the summer, that is mainly because some silly old f**t volunteers and doesn't get there until noon!

This is from a blog byKevin Burton:
Google Adsense millionaire Markus Frind, founder of PlentyofFish was a database and web developer who graduated from college in 1999 with a diploma in computer science. This was also the time of the dot-com meltdown. Jumping from job-to-job, Markus began developing a home-grown site to help himself learn ASP.net. Rather than buy a book, he learned by adding new functions and features to the site. He also started experimenting with search engine optimization (SEO) strategies and incorporating them into the site. Gradually, it morphed quite unintentionally into an online dating center. The site has continued growing astronomically ever since and is now the No. 1 free online dating site in the world, averaging 8 million unique visitors per month. His bank account has grown fatter as well thanks to the Google ads he runs on the site. He has also garnered international attention, including being featured in the Wall Street Journal and on the Today Show.
Markus indicated on this site he bought a couple new servers last year, his revenue is from the ads that you see on every page of the site, 3 years ago it was just under $ 1 000 000.00 a month, there are a lot more ads on the site now, and since there is an increase in membership, his earnings are no doubt proportionately increased.
Nothing wrong with the way he has made his niche in the dating world, most of us like the fact the site is 100% free to use and comment in, sometimes we even luck out and meet someone that stirs the embers and gets the fires going again.
Wish I had had his talent and perseverence 7 years ago!

The main culprit in this debacle has since retired.
The Liberal government under Jean C. set it up that only one company that manufactured in Canada would be able to supply the nation with a vaccine in case of a pandemic situation, and over the past few years have gotten an annual payments from the $ 323, 000.00 and are just now making the vaccine, and getting paid for it too!!
We are now blaming everyone but the right people.
Yes, the present governments could have distributed the vaccine in a better fashion, the AHS could have set up their criteria in a better fashion, but it all boils down to a couple of things
patience and the ability to maintain your current health. Eventually most that want to have the shot will get it, and don't forget the "Seasonal" shot that also has to be gotten.
Our tax dollars were mismanaged in 2000, now we are finding out just how badly.

Not in my life time, the 52 in. tv right by the table puts us in the penalty box or on the side lines for either sport!!
Always a reshuffling of people at the second table so they can "watch" the game while still keeping an eye on the growing stacks of the cheaters, oh, I meant non sports fans!

...And it wasn't really my target age range....know what I mean?
A preconceived determination! If you go to functions with a mental anticipation of meeting someone that will knock your socks off, and at a certain age, ten to one it won't happen. On the other hand, go to as many functions as you are able to attend with no expectations, he could be that little fellow in the corner that doesn't let loose until he gets to know someone.
Up here in Calgary, our bigger events have attendees with ages ranging from 18 to 70, so if you are in that target range, time for a road trip!!

Socks have to be matched, if a hole is discovered, no matter how small, it is matched with another (of the same colour) with a hole in it, then wear them one more time, then into the garbage!
T-Shirts have to be folded so that if any logo is on them, it can be readily detected, nothing worse than wearing a T under a dress shirt and having that colourful logo showing through!!
Shave in the shower with no mirror----a whole new meaning to S**t, shave shower!----have done this so long I can't remember when it started, rarely if ever do I cut myself.
Spill salt, anywhere, toss a couple of grains over the left shoulder with the right hand, not superstitious, but ya never know!!

I used to hunt, and the rewards were generally complimentary for the expense incurred. Now it costs more to "get ready to hunt" and then you have to do all that driving, sighting, walking, shooting, skinning, hanging, cutting so it costs more than it does to buy the food in the market!!
There is a distinct flavor to wild meat, but the taste is no different now than what it was 35 years ago! Cooking and hanging time will mellow some wild meats, but spices and additional flavorings (wine, and other alcohols) will mask that "wild" taste.
As for sausages, some of the best I have ever eaten were 75% wild meat, there is always a percentage of "tame" byproduct to obtain a certain fat content, as wild gave has very little , so when done properly, there is no finer sausages.
But on topic, I still prefer to prepare butterfly pork chops with applesauce, garlic mashed potatoes and a steamed veggi I also like to serve with this an Italian bread with a light wine flavored cheese spread to accompany it, but will do the previously mentioned ones if the time permits.

Halloween costumes

What with the All Hallowed Eve falling on a Saturday, most bars that have a cover charge are waiving it to those all dressed up, so why not take the time and make an effort to do it, that's an extra drink that one could imbibe!!
Last time I donned a costume, I felt like a piece of burlap and all stuffed with straw,
.....wait a minute, I was Dorthy's Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, so that was all I was, fortunately they got me a brain that night, I remember as if it were only yesterday! Not doing that again, fires were threatened to be started around me all night long!!
Not sure yet, but it shall be creative, ....that little shop on 9th Ave. in Inglewood has been quite busy the last couple of weeks as they do have a good selection of stage make-up and other necessities to complete many and varied costumes.

...Wash your hands often, and for at least 30 seconds....
and if you can't determine if it was long enough, it probably wasn't!! Try singing a verse from one of your favorite songs when you start washing, don't rinse until you get to the chorous, unless of course that is all you can remember, then don't rinse until you are starting the chorous for the third time, or sing happy birthday to yourself, that should take about 2 minutes, and then you will be sure to be rid of those pesky little critters!!
If you use those alchohol based hand sanitizers at all, remember, those other hands also touched the handle for dispensing it!!

I think it all depends on what each are in the mood for!
I have prepared
sweet and sour ribs, with rice (steamed and or fried) and chinese salad, white wine
lean roast with mashed, baked or roasted potatoes, cream sauce for the broccoli and carrots and a salad, red wine
buttered chicken with coconut milk steamed green beans & potatoes, a side salad and red wine
Pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, tossed salad, choice of red or white wine.
Dessert is pretty much the same for all of the above.. I can do pies or some other light dessert but.........
.........it always boils down......
............to the following..........
each other!!

The Green Monsters managed to sqeek out a win by three points, and are in first place by virtue of 6 points more scored than that by the Stampeders, next couple of games should be interesting to see who scores the least!
If Stamps win the Nov 7 game by more than 7 points, and they both score the same next week, Stamps take first place!

Last nghts game had some questionable calls, but in all, it was a good game.
Stamps are now one of the three teams assured being in the western play downs
If things continue for the Eskimos as it happened last night, it will be 5 years for no playdowns in that city/

Not to worry, even tho our thread has been in existance longer, we have not had the troubles throughout the season that the Oilers have faced, nor do we have a couple of females that get into any fracas ovr a slight difference of opinion (yet)!
This should be an entertaining season, the fourth line has been killers in scoring, and now the top line is starting, so if all 4 lines start scoring, it could be a very, very entertaining season, from a scoring perspective that is.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
but follow that up with:
"and make dam sure you do it first!"
If a person is a perpetual do-gooder, good will come of it and be returned to them. I have found that being the type of character I tend to be, doesn't allow people the chance to realize I have done something good for them, but in the not too distant future, they realize it and some do the pay forward to some one else, which is always nice to see.
I was once given a car, I offered to pay for it over time, the donor finally invoked this statement to me and I do a lot of my giving with it in mind:
"This is a gift from God, I am just the delivery person"

Friends and money Never Mix
Posted:
10/22/2009 6:00:05 AM
Sticks and stones may break our bones
But names should never hurt us.
A little rhyme I learned many years ago, and so often think of when name calling starts to rear it's ugly head. When that happens, you have to turn a deaf ear to what they say and know that you are above returning the insults.
I lent a room-mate $250.00 a little over 40 years ago, still hasn't paid me back, but I learned a couple things from that. If you lend money to a "friend", put something on paper and make them sign it before giving over the money. If you give money to a family member, put something in writing if it is to be repaid, and any conditions you both agreed to.
I have lent money to my kids, they sign, they repay. They have come to realize that getting money for some mistake they made costs more than that initial mistake, just my way of helping them cope with what life costs today.

Three grandsons to watch this year, all over the age of 2, so there should be some good grabs going on between them!!
What I enjoy at Christmas is the time spent with family and friends,
whether it be home or out some where.
But as of last year, I enjoy watching my adult kids spending time to put together toys and things for their kids, after the little ones have gone to sleep, not unlike what I recall from when they were little.
One of the nicest things to happen last year, it was 6:30 Christmas morning, I had a cup of coffee on my lap, sitting in the family room looking upon the gifts that Santa had brought for the grandchildren, when all of a sudden there was a small head poking up over the stair case, then it rose a bit higher and the oldest grandsons eyes started to enlarge as though he had found a candy store without a price on anything. He scooted down the remaining steps, rounded the corner of the staircase and stood there with his mouth wide open, eyes the size of toonies, and then he looked at grampa, ran over, gave me a big hug and said "Merry Christmas Grampa!"
Being able to sit back and reminisce is quite rewarding for a parent!

T'was a bit scary after those penalties where the shots evened up, but it was nice to see the Flames regroup and forge ahead with one for the win column

Water Bills ... how much do you pay per month?

If the leak was underground you may not see it for months!!
If a leak is suspect, turn off all water in the trailer, including the toilet supply line, then check the meter, if it is recording a flow, then there is a very good possibility of a leak somewhere between the meter and the connection going into the trailer.

The game was blacked out until less than a minute to go in regulation, so when it was able to be seen, most were doing something else. The green team have first place by virtue of points scored, currently, let's just hope that only the Stamps contine to run away with scoring!!

Water Bills ... how much do you pay per month?

The sewer charge, in most municpalities is a percentage of the water bill and is generally listed separately from the electricity.
I live alone in Calgary and use anywhere from 2 to 7 cubic meters of water ( that would be 2000 to 7000 liters ) per month, in Calgary, water is charged at $1.4037 , and sewer at $0.6977 based on the water usage meterage, then there are surcharges added on as well, and don't forget the overall charges for billing, as it constitutes part of the cost.
My water, sewer and electricity averages $ 97.00 to $103.00 per month from May to Nov. My daughter, with a family of 2 adults and 2 children, has a monthly bill of $198.00 to $ 220.00 during the same time period.
Winter is nearly on us, so the electricity and gas costs will soon soar to unusual heights!!

You mean things have deteriorated so bad in the last little while that there is such a thing as 'bad' sex?????????? I always thought that one or the other still had some things to learn to properly appeaze their partner,
but to be bad,
think you be pulling someones' leg!!
