18 year old girl marries a 40 year old man?

An acquaintance of mine married a man at least two decades older than her when she was in her early twenties. They were married at least twenty years that I know of, and seemed to be very happy. I think it should be between the man and woman in question. All other people can do is judge them and make snide comments, that's it.

I have a question... why is this thread only about an 18 year old woman and a 40 year old man? To have an honest discussion the opposite should be brought up as well. What do you all think about a 40 year old woman marrying an 18 year old man? Are your opinions the same across the board? One more question... why are women that see younger men called cougars, and men that see younger women called pervs? I think there is a double standard at work here. Personally, I don't care what two other adults do, it's their choice.

With all of the bad things going on in this world like murders, wars, starvation, genocide, some people don't like the idea of two adults, an 18 year old and a 40 year old marrying. They are both adults and have the right to make their own decisions without busybodies meddling in their business.

Love can overcome race, gender, financial, physical and social differences, love can overcome just about anything, but when it comes to age it's all blown out of proportion. Why not just let people love who they want to love. If they only have one week of happiness, that is better than no happiness. I wish them much happiness.
