Great Day in the History of Freedom.

I think it is only fair that people not be held in limbo without being charged so the ruling is a good one overall. I am glad that Justice Souter wrote a separate opinion in which he emphasized the length of the detentions because that is the main reason for the decision and not that the American Constitution provides rights to all the peoples of the world. That is probably also why Chief Justice Roberts criticized his colleagues about affording Constitutional rights to non-Americans. If any of you disagree with that point and make an issue of it, all I ask is that you site the verbiage from the Constitution to support your assumption.
Actually, I'm looking forwards to the Democratic Congress too. I find it amusing that these traditionally big spenders will inherit an America with all of her credit cards changed to their limit.
For those of you that do not know who is who in the Supreme Court, I put together a list from the most liberal (Ms Ginsburg) to the most conservative (Thomas):
1) Ruth Joan Bader Ginsburg (born March 15, 1933, Brooklyn, New York) is an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Appointed by Democratic President Bill Clinton, she is considered to be one of the Court's two most liberal justices.
Having spent 13 years as a federal judge, but not being a career jurist, she is unusual as a Supreme Court justice for having spent a considerable portion of her career as an advocate for the equal citizenship status of women and men as a constitutional principle. She engaged in advocacy as a volunteer lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, and in the 1970s, was a member of the ACLU's Board and one of its General Counsel. She served as a professor at Rutgers University School of Law and Columbia Law School and a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She is the second woman and the first Jewish woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court.
2) Stephen Gerald Breyer (born August 15, 1938) is an American attorney, political figure, and jurist. Since 1994, he has served as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Appointed by Democratic President Bill Clinton, and known for his pragmatic approach to constitutional law, Breyer is generally associated with the more liberal side of the Court.[1] Breyer was born to Irving Gerald Breyer and Anne A. Roberts,[2] a Jewish family in San Francisco, California.
3) John Paul Stevens (born April 20, 1920) is currently the most senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He joined the Court in 1975 and is the oldest and longest serving incumbent member of the Court. He was appointed to the court by Republican President Gerald R. Ford and is widely considered to be on the liberal side of the court.[1][2] He is also the only current Justice to have served on the Burger Court i.e. Roe v. Wade (1973).
4) David Hackett Souter (born September 17, 1939) has been an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States since 1990. He filled the seat vacated by William J. Brennan. Appointed to the Court by Republican President George H. W. Bush, he usually votes with the liberal wing, though not as consistently as his predecessor. He currently ranks fourth in seniority among the Associate Justices.
5) Anthony McLeod Kennedy (born July 23, 1936) has been an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court since 1988. Appointed by Republican President Ronald Reagan, he acts as the Court's swing vote in many cases, and as a result has held special prominence in many politically charged 5-4 decisions.
6) John Glover Roberts, Jr. (born January 27, 1955) is the seventeenth and current Chief Justice of the United States. Appointed by Republican President George W. Bush, Roberts is generally considered a member of the more conservative wing of the court.
7) Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. (born April 1, 1950) is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Appointed by Republican President George W. Bush, Alito is generally considered a fairly conservative jurist and since becoming a member of the Supreme Court he has often voted with conservative members of the court, but not to the extent of Clarence Thomas or Antonin Scalia.
8) Antonin Gregory Scalia (born March 11, 1936[1]) is an American jurist and the second most senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Appointed by Republican President Ronald Reagan, he is considered to be a core member of the conservative wing of the court.
Justice Scalia is a vigorous proponent of textualism in statutory interpretation and originalism in constitutional interpretation, and a passionate critic of the idea of a Living Constitution. He does, however, sometimes have a more favorable view of national power and a strong executive than his more ardent states' rights conservative colleague, Clarence Thomas.
9) Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist and has been an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States since 1991. He is the second African American to serve on the nation's highest court, after Justice Thurgood Marshall. Appointed by Republican President George H. W. Bush, Thomas's career in the Supreme Court has seen him take a conservative approach to cases while adhering to the principle of originalism.

With all the talk about a possible recession, high gas prices and job lay offs. I'm curious to know what it is your doing to cut back? or what your doing for fun since prices are going up all around us.
What about vacations? Are you not going this year because of the high price of gas, air fare and bus?
Looking forward to your answers.....

The following was sent to me to figure out. Can some of you help me figure this out?
It's impossible to describe.
It's more common than the common cold (and sometimes can be more of a nuisance).
It comes and goes with no apparent reason.
We have no idea what brings it on,
And when it goes, it's almost impossible to get back.
We have no idea why it happens.
Lots of times you expect it, and it never happens.
Other times it happens and you didn't expect it.
Sometimes you welcome it. Sometimes it gets in your way.
There is no predicting when or where it will hit,
But it usually comes in a flash--
Then it disappears just as fast.
Or sometimes it dies an agonizingly long, slow painful death.
It's one word. What is it?
Hint: it is a component that leads to love.

Is being woke up with sexual favors rape or not?
Posted:

I've been woken up with sexual favors myself and Loved it. It's when I'm not awake and the sexual favors happen that I'm not sure I loved because I wasn't awake to realize it was happening..........my partner says I was great but I'll be damned if I remember.

What is your fantasy Christmas Eve/Christmas?
Posted:

"My Christmas eve/Christmas fantasy is to wake up beside someone who is crazy about me who would tell me everything is going to be OK and all he wants is me. Someone who would never lie to me or break my heart, and we would get up, sit in front of a fire and open presents that would include a trip for us to a private exotic island where we will enjoy each other, free of noise. A nice quiet Christmas, oh my - wouldn't that be nice?"
Sorry, I don't know how to capture a previous quote.
Wow Skit......You and I have the same Christmas fantasy. I even got goose bumps reading it.

My assessment test told me I should ask this question of men to see what kind of answers I get back.
I'd like to ask both the men and the woman this question:
What would you say is the difference between "Having Sex" and "Making Love"

" If he is causing you to feel bad and you have to question his behaviour in any manner - then it may be time to move on. A relationship should be comfortable and make you happy - not bringing you grief!"
Wonderful advise Leeanne
I have found myself in this same situation. I didn't say or do anything but let it eat me up inside.

How would you feel if you were hit on by another woman?
Posted:

I went to a bar with a few friends. A very attractive young woman asked my one of my friends if I was available. Most woman critique the hell out of other woman so to have another woman (younger to boot) hit on me was very flattering.

I've never been in this situation before with a new partner but if he said some of these words to me without knowing me and whether I liked them or not I would be pissed.
On the other hand:
I've had a LTR where these words were used in the bedroom and only in the bedroom. He
knew I was none of the words he said to me and I knew I wasn't either.....and WOW did it intensify the intimate times we had together. Memories are wonderful things.

The need for Viagra or other stimulants to Make Love
Posted:
11/18/2007 6:44:53 AM
There are other reasons why men take Viagra. Health reasons for one.
Example: Men with Diabetes are effected with ED (erection dysfunction).
Before my ex found out he had Diabetes he would go soft during our love making. For awhile I blamed myself. I thought I couldn't turn him on anymore or make him excited enough. He went to the Dr. for a yearly check up and found out he had Type 2 diabetes. The doctor talked to us about the effects of Type 2 diabetes and this is where we found out about ED. My ex was devastated because he would tease the men at work how he would never have to take the blue pill. On the other hand, I was re leaved because this meant it wasn't me...
Some men feel less than a man when they have to take a little blue pill in order to get it up.
Frankly I'm honored a man would go to such lengths to take this pill so our time together is exciting. These pills are not cheap!!
Most likely he is taking Viagra to please you and here you are complaining that he didn't tell you about them.
There are many woman in the same situation where they have to take a pill to feel the excitement and wake up their libido in order to please their man.
Perhaps he isn't telling you about the Viagra for fear you will judge him and his inadequacies. What you should be worried about is when you find one missing and the two of you haven't had sex - but that's a whole another Thread............

Has anyone been brave enough to meet someone with no pic at all?
Posted:
11/17/2007 3:34:45 PM
I met someone without a pic and it was not what I had imagined. He and I chatted online for about 2-3 weeks and he said the most wonderful things to me. Because he wrote and sounded so wonderful I agreed to meet him for lunch. When I saw him he was nothing like what he described himself. He claimed to be 47 but looked more like 67. I was nice, we had lunch, talked and even hugged after lunch. When he wrote to ask me what I thought I told him the distance (he was about 60 miles away from me) and the chemistry just wasn't there. Because of this bad experience I won't meet without a picture first (several if he has any...and up to date).

Things that touch your heart.

I remember when money was low and I wanted to go out for a nice candle light dinner. Knowing we couldn't afford a fancy restaurant we ended up going to an all you can eat salad bar.
When we got to the table with our tray I went to the bathroom. When I got back my boyfriend had a tea light sitting on the table lit.
It was that little thing that touched my heart.
