OP,

Cool, guess your comments suggests I'm not sexist.......but rather, objective, something that lacks these days......

Just calling her iconic does insinuate some kind of role model which i strongly disagree about her being, she's not in my opinion.....Ideally, you'd have to see my point right?...............

Judgemental people

This is one of those posts that rely heavily on ones definition of judgmental....
Personally, I think everyone judges, all day long.......good or bad......
I take this word as forming an opinion , everyone does it........if someone walked up to you and dressed / looked disgusting, bam....opinion formed, and visa versa....i also believe opinions can change as fast as they came.....
I do get a kick out of those who claim to be non judgmental......complete nonsense........................

Some weird incidents for sure in the op's opening post.....

Burn the bra?.......silly at best.
Nuke your reproductive organs?.......no point made, just stupidity.
The Happy Hooker iconic?.......nah, just another that sold her body for money.
I wouldn't think anyone with her history would be much of a role model.

As far as being realistic goes, genders are better suited to stereo typical occupations, that's a reality but not politicly correct, whatev.

I wouldn't do too much gender bashing, both given the opportunity and motive will do almost anything, history proves that.

As for ideals.......I like fair play........if '' everyone'' played ''fair'' in every aspect of life, things would be far better than they are....................

Organ donation - Opt-in or Opt-out?
Posted: 11/7/2009 8:47:10 AM
This planets just getting weirder and weirder.......
What's happening in this so called ''free country''?
Now if the soap boxers get their way, if our heart stops.......the gouls with sharp things will swoop in and start hacking us up like the free box at a garage sale.....

Enough of the nonsense, if anyone wants what another owns, ask for it in advance.......not what i'd called rocket science.
This proposel reflects badly on just how lazy and greedy this movement is.

I'm all for organ donation but i'm not for being forced into something and forced again to jump hoops to get out.....it's bullsh!t.............

Organ donation - Opt-in or Opt-out?
Posted: 11/3/2009 3:21:39 PM
Any organization given the ''automatic'' right to harvest organs is dead wrong......
No one, I mean NO ONE should be given any kind of harvest privilages without the expressed written consent of the donor or guardian......

Good lord, what a bizzare thought......

If the lack of organ donors are the issue then start a ''sign up'' drive, have it posted on a drivers licence or care card etc......................

The much needed ''Evergreen'' line needs 400 million to match the Provincial and Federal portions of this needed project but cannot.......but, theres almost half a billion dollars available to replace that stupid roof.......it's grossly over priced, and uneccessary..........
If that stupid game they call soccer want to play outside.......then play outside for god sakes.

I think it's just a stupid statement period......
Like another poster has written, all men are potential rapists , yet it is possible for females to rape.
Both genders have the potential to do most anything.....
It's an inflamatory statement by an ignorant author looking for contaversy and attention, looks like it worked..............

With all due respect........

I'll never understand why people get all messed up over public space being in a public domain via closed circuit or google earth......
I'm all for closed circuit tv on every street corner, googles new street view has endless pro's vs no cons.....the security aspect, another much needed police tool will be and has been a valuable assset in crime solving.

My homes on it front and center, I'm quite proud of it's appearance so it's a non issue.......
Those that rant about privacy invasion etc are either hiding something or just chronic whiners....who knows..............

It's been suggested that diet has alot to do with brain power or lack of especially in the last half of life.......that's fairly evident............

However.....
Having said that, there's even more evidence to suggest an inactive condo / apt dweller pine away at a faster rate.....both physicly and mentally.
I've heard that home owners with constant chores / maint etc to do not only keeps them active but always thinking.......a use it or lose it theory.

Debatable theory considering I'm a home owner that makes constant changes IE remodeling, mowing lawns etc yet i constantly forget where my keys are.......

Country Music ..thumbs up or thumbs down ?
Posted: 9/24/2009 12:16:06 PM
Country music comes along in a big way every 10-15 yrs or so.....kinda like high waist / low waist jeans......bell bottoms etc......I'd say lots flock to it just because it is ''in'' vs their actual like for it.

It doesn't have the depth or soul to stay consistant..
It takes a achy breaky heart or something to bring it back into the forefront....then it dies off again......even tunes like that are rocky rolly.
I mean you can only sing about your cheating wife and broken down truck in so many ways and so many times.

I've found that people in my age group that stray to country music always seem to go back to their roots with good ole rock n roll......always good regardless of how old or how many times it's played.
Having gone to what seems to be a million wedding receptions so far in life, any DJ will tell you the way to get people up dancing is to toss on some Chuck Berry or Jerry Lee, guaranteed to fill the floor , not many country hits have that effect.

The newest FM radio station is a testiment to that........out of this world ratings....

1.5 million in Olympic perks.......
Posted: 9/22/2009 6:42:45 PM
And here I thought most would be outraged.....

Initially, these games were were voted on with a 600 million dollar budget, and passed.
We know now it's in the billions, add the whistler hwy to the mix, the convention center, the actual cost of security etc etc.......
We could be looking at a 5-6 billion dollar bill.........
Add on these new hidden costs for the elite and well..........

I've seen misleading a few times in my life but this is a doozie.

Granted they say they are for customers etc but still?

Hah.....^^^^

My road kill comment was simply to state a fact of how many thousands of moose, deer etc are killed by other than hunting.....Just another reason why we should keep a close eye on populations, hundreds of moose are killed anually by railroads and not reported, at least with tags we have those stats.......a conservation comment only.

ML,

Hopefully I won't bore you......
We do have a couple things we agree on...including the over hunting of species and the destruction of habitat.........however.....

The point of over population in Africa wasn't the only cause of exstiction and near exstiction of certain species, we all know the underground hunting/poaching / black market for protected species is alive and thriving, it thrives here with the poaching of black bear/ eagle parts and off season wild game.
I couldn't even imagine the percentage of species wiped out from humans vs natural , far exceeds the natural I'm sure.
There is no habitat loss for grizzlies in Alaska yet the numbers dwindle due entirely to over hunting, trophy hunting to boot.

The road kill statistics are staggering not to mention the railroads annual moose kill during the winter.

By your own admission, some species have had to be completely protected and in some cases reintroduced to prevent complete loss......all due to over hunting, the very point I was making.....
We over hunt, we over fish, we over build.....The writing is on the wall for all to read.

My posts are in my opinion are on topic, hunting and the choice between teaching it and not, the consequence of having more hunters introduced into the wilderness will be severe if history repeats and it usually does hence my position.

As for the firearms being manufactured today, I'll stick to my position that anyone can line up a target from huge distances with a scoped magnum and pick off pretty much anything.......that's a fact........

Well well.......

It would appear the gun / pro hunting lobby has pull in the monitor dept.....
My nuked post simply pointed out the risks associated with guns and hunting.
My co-poster has pointed out a few vague statistics about the increase in the grizzly population over the last 10 yrs.....Why the increase?.........Fact of the matter is, had no one stepped in and regulated the slaughter of grizzlies they'd be wiped out like so many other species.

It's true that urban sprawl has contributed negatively towards wildlifes future but I don't know how that can be controlled, the outright killing of wildlife by hunting can be.

Anyone informed has got to realize that hunting wipes out species in time, look at Africa, the wolf population in BC etc etc......It's just facts, something the gun/ hunting lobby refuses to acknowlage........that defines true ignorance.

As a anti hunter and committed animal advocate.....I'm Anti Firearm period.
It wouldn't bother me one second if ALL guns were instantly destroyed.....
Having all these legal hoops to jump IE, tests, permits etc.......does nothing to prevent guns from killing or used improperly, criminals , poachers etc never have and never will follow any legislation.
Nope, nothing really good has come from guns, especially these days.

Long Distance, can it work?
Posted: 9/19/2009 8:11:28 AM
In a word nope, doesn't work.....
The vast majority of people who consider themselves in a relationship via long distance are romance novel types, void of reality and need to feel part of something other than being single.....professing long distance relationship fills that void and insecurity.

Too bad they spend sooooooo much energy on something with little fullfillment , next to no perks and will almost certainly fail.
It's alot easier to actually get out there a date a ''real'' person.........

Interesting post actually.....

Begs the question......why is a marrige licence even required?
You get nothing for it but a bill.....
It does'nt have any real meaning.....except in court.
Does'nt give you any privliges....
Pretty much the same as a dog licence, no offence.
Seems to be just another way big brother can dip into your bank acct...

A fishing licence on the other hand will at least put some money back into the fish stocks through hatcherys etc.....

Senior refused buying/adopting kitten. your opinion
Posted: 9/12/2009 1:50:24 PM
It would appear there's a poster or two defending the SPCA....

Just too add to my original post.....

Volunteers at the SPCA should be admired, anyone who ''volunteers'' for anything should....

My point (s) were simply.....
The SPCA was originally intended to be a non profit animal advocate.....
Since the ''executive'' types infiltrated the organization they've managed to pad their bank accounts with incredible saleries, benefits next to none, raise dog licencing and adoption fees etc etc......all while the volunteers care for animals and beg and scrounge for contributions for free.
They've lost their integrity, they've made it into a cash cow for mgmt.....

The superviser that shot the healthy defenceless harbour seal was the last straw for me.....

Again, kudos to the volunteers, they do what they can.

What I think is.....

The SPCA in it's usual arrogance is ''assuming'' the cat will out live this senior.....tsk tsk....
How many 80 yr old seniors do you know?..........tons.
With the hundreds of animals being put down by this so called animal advocate you'd think they'd jump at the opportunity to give an animal the chance to have a great life..........I've lost so much respect for this organization over the yrs, it started with the illegal killing/shooting of a harbour seal that was just hanging out.....then came the outragous fees......
They continually amaze me........

This is one of those personal decisions with massive implications if the wrong choice is made....
There's a ton of good arguments on both sides of this debate, including the growing anti- imunization of anything lobby stateside.....
The OP mentions the word ''autisim'' in her post, these groups are insisting there is a link between the over use of preventative measures and this condition.

Years ago we trusted people in power to give the general public ''good advice'' and ''factuall'' information, the reality of it all now is there is no integrity, opinions are pushed by drug companies, political gain, special interest groups etc......anyone that will contribute cash for a re-election bid......

More Olympic concerns
Posted: 8/27/2009 9:30:04 PM
I would'nt be to concerned over what business's will lose.....they'll be fine.
Keep your eye on the real ball here.......the taxpayers of BC will be paying off this enormous debt for years......mark my words, wait till it's all over.
Then they have the gall to make huge cuts to everything because they've been spending like drunken sailors for yrs..........and blame that on the recession.....
Let me tell you something Mr Premier, had you banked the billion you spent on that convention center, the billions you spent on the olympics, the over priced canada line, new ferrys etc etc etc......there would be BC financial security, the greatest health care system in Canada but alas, our so called leaders have spent themselves into an abyss of debt......not funny, reality.

PS,
Even our premier recognizes his mistakes, that's why they're implementing the HST regardless of what the public wants, the 1.4 billion dollar gift the feds will give him to keep him from drowning upon the implementation.........not to mention the hundreds of millions in NEW taxes BC'rs will be paying.

Well well now.....

Now it seems this governments seedy greedy underhanded dispicable clandestine plans are starting to seep through the cracks.....

They had this agenda planned way before the election and denied it....
There is no other motive for this tax other than get the gift from from the feds and increase our overall tax burden...in essence, a massive tax grab after all - like I stated in my original post.....

There's a grassroots rebellion starting to gather speed.....good luck to them.....

OP.....

So we agree on.....

You're no comic...
You're biased....
You're basing your opinion on your personal gain..
Faced with overwhelming evidence to the contrary you attack personally....
It's a start I guess.....

I'll keep my original opinion, base it on facts, stick up for the majority of taxpayers that's fed up with the elitest minority attitudes and conclude this tax is a grab, quite simple, there's no need to carry on with a defenceless defence...
Post your business's name and we'll see what your opinions do for business....
