It is perceived so much differently when a woman is out alone.
So for guys that are replying to this thread and equating themselves to the OP makes no sense.

if a dog is properly trained and the dog does bite someone with reason (owner was attacked) should the owner be held responsible for charges of a dangerous dog or hospital bills?
Hell no! The bad guy should pay for his own care and there should be no repercussions to the owner or the dog. Of course, the bad guy will probably get a lawyer and take you to court and win thousands of dollars and have your dog put down for being a vicious dog.
In the classes you are attending have they discussed Cesar Milan and his The Dog Whisperer tv program? If so, what is the consensus?

I am learning to train dogs and want to breed and train for personal protection, as well as other basic and specialty areas.
Where/how are you "learning" to train dogs?
My question is, if a dog is correctly trained in personal protection and still acts as a family pet ( trustworthy with childeren, allows welcomed guests into the home, will not act to a stranger until instructed, and if instructed to bite an attacker will release on command).
What is the question?

I think he'd be happy to reunite with his Mom.
What makes you think that?
Do you know the person?
Have you any idea of what he thinks?
What would you think if I sent you an e-mail and stated "I think you'd be happy to go out with me."?
You would probably think I'm nuts assuming such a thing.

Businesses Asking for Tips.
Posted:
10/25/2009 7:22:47 AM
We only have one restaurant that charges delivery ... I don't know who gets that delivery charge. I should ask the restaurant if the delivery person gets it. I just disregard it.
The deliver charge does NOT go to the delivery driver. He MIGHT get paid XX amount for each delivery, but, that is not a TIP. A TIP is something YOU give as a "Thank You" to the person driving to your house. After all, he has to buy the gas and maintain his vehicle, watch out for dogs, cats and kids running into the street, try to find your house at night cause you did not leave the porchlight on and you do not have the address numbers lit or they can not be seen from the street. Wait, there's more. It's raining, very hard, he runs through the rain, rings the doorbell, you do not have a porch. He gets drenched waiting for you to answer the door. When you do get to the door you tell him "just a minute, let me find my purse". So there he stands, getting soaked to the bone. You finally find your purse and then ask "What's the total?" "$18.79 ma'am". You give him a twenty and then say "Keep the change". WTF!!!!
Now it seems that most pizza places are paying the drivers a sub-minimum wage.
Please, do not be one of those people that do not TIP the driver 'cause the pizza joint has a delivery charge.
now personally, i'm kinda annoyed by the tip jars at starbucks. i mean WTH, i just paid $3.50 for a f#cking cup of coffee, and now you want another 15%?? f#ck you, get a real job.
Working at Starbucks is not a "real" job?
Please enlighten us. What constitutes a "real" job?

have read a lot about it.
A lot can be written about a lot of things.
I'd like to hear from those who actually have one.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make her drink.
Makes you wonder why people ask questions and then do not bother to check out what others suggest.
If you had bothered to go to any of those sites you would have noticed several home made solar water heaters and other solar projects. People like you and me that decided to do something about the rising cost of electricity.
You will be able to read and see pics of what people have made.
I don't plan to sell the excess to the grid ..... I will sell it all to the grid, then pay for what I use.
I really am interested in how you plan to accomplish that.
You will have to spend many, many thousands of dollars in order just to power your household needs just for a few hours a day.

when it comes to outdoor lighting such as Christmas lights they don't last that long. My experience has been that their life is shorter than the bulbs, and I have bought quite a few strings of both over the years.
I think you are confused.
LED's last 45,000 to 50,000 hours.
I doubt you were purchasing LED Christmas lights if they only lasted one year.

There is a real push for solar hot water heaters, which appears to be mixed with thermal since the water is heated before entering the hot water heater.
You really need to read up on Solar Energy.

As far as getting a system installed that will furnish you with enough power to be able to sell excess back to the power company, be ready to shell out a LOT of money.
The payback will be about 15 years or so.

Just to inform everyone. I too have perfume/cologne allergy. I am not allergic to all just a few colognes/perfumes.
When I come across one that I am allergic to I have a really bad reaction.
The person that gave her the gift is not a close friend, she probably sees her once in a blue moon, therefor I see no reason to make a big deal out of it.
Especially if the scents can be changed.

Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness."
I do not see any reason at all to to tell the gift giver that you are allergic to that particular scent.
"Thank you again for the diffuser--it's such a pretty bottle!
There are several other scents available and I can't wait to try them. I love it.
Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness."
The above assumes that you can replace the aroma producing fluid.

Be sure not to call the police when your house has been burglarized or your kid has been molested, or you just got your ass kicked and wallet stolen. After all the police are evil and will hurt you any way they can.
Now on topic.
Since there is a large proportion of felons being repeat offenders I do have a problem working next to one. Can I trust him? Will he fall back on his "trade"? Was he a violent offender or did he just write hot checks?
Of course I will not know any of this as he is pulling my unconscious body from my burning home. I will be thankful for what he did. Regardless of his past.

Car brake question
Posted:
7/26/2009 11:01:29 AM
if the mechanic replaced the from pads he wouldnt need to disconnect brake lines
Only if the car does not have ABS.
It is always a good idea to open the bleeder and discard the fluid that exits the caliper when pushing the piston back.
When pushing the piston back in this also pushes the dirty fluid that is in the caliper back up into the brake line. The dirty fluid can really damage the pump, valves and the controller of the Ant-Lock Braking System.
This is why on a vehicle equipped with an ABS the bleeder valve has to be opened when pushing the pistons back in.

From what Joe told me he let himself into the house, Gordie came over to sniff him, after the sniffing was done he went to pat Gordies back and Gordie bit him ... once in the hand between the thumb and index finger.
James Bottomtooth III stated:

Can anyone please point out where it is written by the OP that Joe was behind the dog?
That's right, she didn't.
James Bottomtooth III stated it and you all for some reason took it as the gospel truth.

Gordie was sniffing Joe, after the sniffing was done Joe reached down to pat Gordie on the back.
Joe does not say Gordie was walking way from him.

What I seriously don't understand is how the pan-handlers can watch the illegals jump on the back of a truck, and make money constructively every day, and not seek to jump on the back of one of those trucks and make some money.
That's cause the American made bums, as you so lovingly put it, will want to get paid at least minimum wage while the wet..., errr, illegals, will work for less.
Also notice the age difference, the American made bums, tend to be older, most have mental issues and have no family.

Car brake question
Posted:
7/26/2009 7:29:20 AM
I had the pedal all the way to the floor as I went through a red light.
When you picked up the car and drove out of the shop, how were the brakes at that time? Was the pedal firm? Or did the pedal go to the floor? If the pedal was firm at first did you notice that it was getting closer to the floor the more you used it? Or was it a sudden drop to the floor?
Before you get in the car after having it parked over night look around each tire for brake fluid on the ground. Even if you do not see any puddles of fluid around any of the tires open the hood and check the fluid in the reservoir go here for a pic http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-types/master-brake1.htm Look at the second pic. If the fluid is at the "full" line I would not really suspect a leak. If the fluid is well below the full line or there is none in there you have a problem. Could be the mechanic did not tighten the bleeder valve and the fluid leaked out with every press of the brake pedal.
On the receipt the mechanic should have written what he found when he looked at your brakes and the repair that he did. If it only states "Front pads were worn, replaced front brake pads" then I would assume that all he did was just that. But.....a car that has ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) there is a special procedure for spreading the calipers in order to put the new brake pads on. Done incorrectly it can cause a major problem with the braking system.

openwatercaptn,
My post was not about you.
I understand this is the "Off Topic" section of POF. And I know there are several posts about cars, motorcycles, bicycles and so forth.
My suggestion was that since the OP is asking a very specific question it would be better put in a forum that deals with motorcycles.
He will get many more responses and will have a better idea of what to do.

I would suggest you go to a forum that deals with motorcycles.
I have a Geo Metro and am a member of a forum for that car. I would not post a question here asking advice about the car. Likewise, I would not post a question on the car forum about sex.

You are not being forced to get a divorce. It would seem though that you are allowing it to happen.
Call legal aid and get some answers.
Like I stated earlier, you can win this but it is going to take a bit of effort.
Or....you can roll over and let it happen.
The choice is yours.
Here are a couple of tips.
Try to converse with him via text. Save all the texts. That way you will have proof of everything he texts to you. It will be admissible in court.
When he calls do not answer the phone. Send him a text instead. In the text tell him you are not able to talk on the phone. I bet he replies with a text. Then I am sure he will start texting things that you will be able to use against him.
Be smart and devious. He will dig a hole for himself.
