Calling all teachers in the Fort Collins/Loveland area....
Posted: 1/2/2009 5:55:22 PM
I will be moving to Loveland this summer and I'm wondering what the job outlook for middle school teachers is. I currently teach social studies and literature.
Any advice that points me in the right direction would be appreciated.

re: Krishnamurti

"If there are only five people who will listen, who will live, who will have their faces turned toward eternity, it will be sufficient."

.....if only I did not teach in a small Catholic school (I'm not Catholic). If only only I could get out from under that parent generated "microscope".....OY Vey!

Thanks for all the help!
As for letting the students do the research themselves......
Half of my students have English as a second language. And please don't assume I mean "spanish" as the other language. One is from India, one from Russia, one from Cuba, etc... and two from Mexico.
It's a long road I hoe and really appreciate the suggestions.
"I Have a Dream" and "The Gettysburg Address" (although the population at the time thought the latter to be trite), are already on my list.
Winston Churchill was a good one.
I will look into ALL the suggestions.
THANKS!

I'm having my middle school kids memorize parts of famous speeches....does anyone have any good ideas?
I have already used the preamble to the Constitution and part of the Declaration of Independence. What else?...

How 'bout this.....
There was a scene when the girl was in the house (big, huge house out in the middle of no where), she was making dinner....a locust appears in the bowl she is using to make dough in...when she looks up, there are locust EVERYWHERE...they have to burn the fields because of all the locust.

It wasn't witness.
Maybe it wasn't Harrison Ford.
I remember the girl and guy were well known actors.
At one farm the girl worked in the owners house and the guy was out working in the fields. The owner of the house wanted to marry the girl.
At the end of the movie the guy gets shot.
ugh......

It's an old movie....maybe 15 years old....maybe less..
Takes place during the depression.
A man (Harrison Ford?), a woman, and a little girl with a New York accent are on the run for some reason. They go from farm to farm working where they can. I remember a scene where they had to burn the fields because of locust. The man and the woman pretend to be brother and sister.
OY vey...
Somebody help me!

I tried asking a question about viewing pictures files on my IMAC but for reason....my post keeps getting thrown back in my "face".
hmmmmm......why is this?
I ran a search to see if my question had already been asked...NOPE.
So what is the problem?

Uploading Videos To iPod

thanks for the "good news"..."bad news".....
I got the ipod for my b-day...so it is in my life for good. May as well use it..right?
I have a MAC OS X
Every time I try to download software (Limewire for ex.) I'm asked to enter my password for my computer. Once I do that, everything just stalls out. I can't get past the password entry. ?
Soooooo.... frustrating!!!!!

Glenwood Canyon 1/2 day raft trip. July 14th
Posted: 7/15/2007 9:28:52 AM
Since everyone enjoyed thier outing to Charcoal Burger I'm going to plan an all day event where that is all we do. We can meet there at 2:00 on a Saturday when the place is just crawling with tourists. We can get a table by the drive-through line. It will be great!!!! I know what your thinking...it WAS an all day event the first time.

I have to spend some time (a week or two) getting to know the person via email before I feel comfortable calling...or to have him call me.....
I feel weird talking to someone I know nothing about.
Granted you can't know everything by just emailing....but it helps.
That's just me.

Hey Lu,
I have a question. Blue Sky is located in west Glenwood by the Conoco station. Can I just meet you guys there rather than the hotel?
