Poetry.
Posted: 9/28/2007 12:15:23 PM
:) My pleasure! Thanks for posting them.

Here is one I am writing to my sweety in Montreal. <3

I am here, alone at home...
dreaming of a far away place
You are there, alone at home...
dreaming of a far away place

Dreaming of each other, bridges the miles...
and closer and closer we come
We are together in spirit, you and I...
and together for real in just four days

Swingers bars or echangiste clubs
Posted: 9/26/2007 11:11:13 AM
I like to swing at the park. Its cool to push my GF on the swing in the park also. :) I have not done that in a long time though... I used to love to swing real high, then jump off, and go flying through the air.

Yep, swinging is cool.

Bush's next speech!
Posted: 9/24/2007 10:59:26 AM
Yikes.

Let's see if I can salvage this for our president.

How about if he says:

To the people on List 1, thanks for your support... it will not be forgotten.

To the people on List 2, we understand that you didn't agree with this decision, and still... we appreciate our relationship with you, and many of you are invaluable allies for us. :)

To the people on List 3... this is the list of countries that are actively prolonging the war. The ones sending weapons and fighters into Iraq... in effect, waging a secret war against the US.... Don't think that you can remain hidden, and don't think that public opinion will save you.

~~~ My opinion ~~~
I agree with the idea to drop support to corrupted regimes. That's probably the best way to effect regime change. The US should never have been in the regime change business... If we war, its better to leave that government intact, because its people that can be negotiated with, before, durring, and after conflict.
With regard to the jabs at France, Germany, and Russia... seriously, get a grip. These nations are our allies, not our subordiates to order around.
Honesty and dating
Posted: 9/24/2007 10:44:17 AM
Honesty is important. But also, there is an appropriate time for some things to be discussed. For example, if you have some preffered baby names... perhaps the first date is the wrong time to mention that. ;)
do you guys read books?
Posted: 9/24/2007 10:39:37 AM
Er... I think you got a little too happy with your copy / paste.
However, to answer your question... I most recently read the last Harry Potter book. Before that, I read several police thrillers. Before that, I read Angels and Demons (prequel to Da Vinci Code). Before that, I read Da Vinci Code. Before that, I read all of the other Harry Potter books. (I started late) Then there was a long time that I didn't read. Then back in high school, I read a lot of fantasy books... Dragonlance, Lord of the Rings, Foundation, Dune, Piers Anthony stuff, ... umm...
Yep, that's what I remember.
I am not currently reading a novel, because I am taking a class on Contemporary European History... so that sort of counts as reading too. :P
As to what I recommend... I ask, what are you interested in?
Opinions on bachelor parties and bachelorette parties
Posted: 8/31/2007 11:31:01 AM
What exactly is the point of a bachelor party?
I think the idea is to have one last crazy fling before you have to grow up and act responsibly. ;) But in some cases, if having 'crazy flings' has never been something one does, then there really isn't much point.
~~ For me ~~
I have never really 'needed' it. But my friends wanted one, so when I got married... yep, we had a bachelor party. It was fun. Its not as if I had never seen a nude girl before though. *shrug* But, the main thing is to be hanging with your pals and having fun.
I like the idea of a combined bachelor/bachelorette party. :)
i NEED TO KNOW WHAT A GUY THINKS, io THINK THIS IS WEIRD
Posted: 8/26/2007 1:23:17 AM
Hard to say really, but it does sound like they could be gay. I have a lot of guy friends I have known since high school... some since grade school. Let me think on it...
He went on week long vacations with this guy, he called me and told me you know where they were, what they were eating, the resturanunts they went to yadaya.
Me and my friends have had occasional 'guys night out' where we bowled, played cards, even went to strip clubs now and then... but a whole week?
They had their special places to go and even a special place to eat.
My friends and I do have a 'special place' up in the mountains where we used to get drunk as high school students... but when we go up there, we always bring our girlfriends or spouses. *shrug*
He got him a card on christmas which had you know handwritten crap inside, not romantic...but not "mantic" Along with that he gave him a belt. What guy gives a guy a belt?
I don't think anything weird about the belt. The note in the card sounds weirder to me. None of my friends really write each other letters. I mean we will get cards for each other and write, "have a great Christmas, Bro" or something... but not like a letter.
Thinking on it... Yeah, maybe they are gay.
How do we end up being so non-compatible? [Valid Topic]
Posted: 8/26/2007 1:07:23 AM
How do we end up being so non-compatible?
Its not that we are uncompatible. I think its that because of the internet, guys and girls can both see the whole catalog and have become a little obsessed by it. The grass is greener on the other side, or so people think...
I am not suggesting that people settle for less. But, I think we should put a little more effort into a relationship once we start one. It's like people (both guys and girls) have such little stamina for the real world challenges of life. Take the time to build something strong, and don't give up when you hit your first bump.
Some things should not be disposable. ;)
I didn't make it to Japan yet. The Navy redirected me to Guam this year. Still, it was beautiful. I loved the snorkling. :) Also, Talafofo falls are very nice, as are Tarzan falls. If you like to hike, swim, club, and eat... then, Guam is for you. :P
There are a LOT of military personnel there too... which is cool for me. But There are going to be 8000 more Marines transfered there soon... I think thats too much for that little island.
When a dog bites someone, should we beat it to death?
When a cat pees on the carpet should we give it a good kick?
No, of course we shouldn't... because they made a mistake. Well, guess what? People are people too. ;) There should be some sort of penalty and it should not involve the guy getting beat up.
I will take that one step further and say, the guy that assaulted the handcuffed one should get a more severe penalty, because what he did was deliberate .
You're beautiful, you're an amazing woman...
Posted: 7/30/2007 11:57:26 AM
..you're so sensual, you're wonderful, you're intelligent, you're great...BUT...I didn't feel the spark OR I didn't feel the chemistry
Why do guys bother saying these things to a woman they are not interested in dating?
Honestly, if you're not interested, we'd rather hear that. DO NOT tell us how great we are...because if we're so fcuking great...why would you put us back in the pond?
We do not need to hear how wonderful we are just before you slide the knife in. It's cowardly. It's a cop out. It doesn't make the hurt easier.
Anyone guilty of this...if so...why do you do it?
Guys do that when they really don't want to hurt you... so they are trying to make it hurt as little as possible. Its hard to do though... there is no easy way to break up... so most guys fall on their faces and make it worse... but they are trying to be fair to you, and let you down easy.
I wouldn't say its cowardly though... at least they are talking.
Cowards, just stop calling and disappear.... cowards start cheating, and ignore you more and more... cowards break up with you by text message, so they don't have to look into your eyes.
Moving on..
Posted: 7/30/2007 11:27:08 AM
When you and someone you've been dating awhile..break up..How long would it take for you to go right back to dating?
Would you jump right back into it as soon as possible..move on?
Or does it take extended time for you to move on..from one person to the next?
It depends... after my marriage ended, I was lucky enough to meet a younger lady who was not interested in a relationship, but just wanted to date and have fun... she was all concentrating on college, so it made perfect sense.
It felt really good to get out and do things. Definately a lot cooler than to stay home with my regrets. ;) For me, it was a rebound fling, and for her it was a little fun to take her mind of studying... so it was all good.
I think it would NOT have been good to have met up with a woman who was ready for a committed relationship. At that time, I was still in love with my ex wife, even if I was hurt by her... and there were a few times we almost got back together. Now its been a couple of years, and I am back looking for the LTR, and actually ready for that kind of committment too.
Why men love damned wretch ****y women?
I am sure that the women that you are refering to have other qualities aside from the ****ing, that men like...
Maybe they are:
Beautiful
Smart
Interesting
Funny
Sexy
Confident
Then, they get ****y too... but the whole package is worth it.
women marry down - men marry up
Posted: 7/24/2007 7:13:50 AM
First I think that you can't determine something like that and apply it to all men. That sounds to me like something that he needs for himself personally... however, I would bet that most guys don't care about marrying 'up'.
Even the idea is screwy... what does 'up' mean? Because if I married someone that was interesting and fun, that I liked, and that I respected... then she would be more "up" to me, than someone who was just simply prettier than her.
And women marrying down... what do they get from that? Just that the guy won't cheat later? Thats a lotta crap.
Yep, I give it a grade zero.
Racial Discrimination
Posted: 7/21/2007 3:40:25 PM
I didn't read anything that sounded particularly racist. Maybe I missed it.
Let's say that a black dude was hanging out reading a magazine. Does it make sense to say: A male of possible African or Native Australian decent is hanging out reading a magazine?
No, of course not. Because "black" is a DESCRIPTION. And we need words that describe if we hope to communicate. Other words, colored, negro, etc etc have historically not been bad, but in todays society everyone panics when anyone describes someones race. Its not that big of a deal.
There are of course other words that actually do contain racial slurs... okay, when one sees that, I can understand them getting upset.
Whats the longest you would wait for sex?
Lets see... about 30 min for dinner, 15 min to get back to my place... 1 min to undress... so I guess 46 minutes!
J/K :P
I imagine if there was a girl that I really was into, who wanted to wait until marriage, I could do that... generally, its not been that way... usually from what I have seen intimacy starts third or fourth date. But my goal is a long term committed relationship, so if I thought I was heading towards that, I could wait.
The only person that should influence a persons change, is themselves, and their doctor.
I don't completely agree with that.
An exgirlfriend of mine was a cutter... she was careful and she was clean... she never got hurt... but for whatever reason, she liked to cut her arm and watch it bleed. I did not agree with it, I thought it was not healthy and she was part of my life, so I exerted my influence to discourage it... and I think I was within my rights to do so. See, when you are in a committed relationship with someone, you are a team, and both members of the team affect the other... so both of their viewpoints should be considered.
Lets suppose that it did work out.....
when you are married or committed with someone who is 25 years older... it is gonna be a BIG deal eventually. Are you prepared for when you are 40 and he is 65? You are still relatively young, active, doing things... he may be out of breath walking across the room.
I think its not a good idea... generally, I would recommend 10 yrs or less. But of course, its up to you. :)
Hey guys....what do you think of dating a woman that has had plenty of fabulous sex in her life, but has since decided to wait for marriage with the right guy? Not that the woman will waver in her decision, but how would men deal with this issue? Just curious!
I guess I could deal with it... I wonder though, if ultimately that would push the couple towards marriage faster? I bet there would be a lot of guys that otherwise, might be very good with you, that would pass though.
Still... its your life and nothing wrong with living it your way. :)
Great post, jabberwocker.
I just want to add... what jabberwocker says, can be perfectly true... and that doesn't mean that there will 'never' be chemistry. Of course there will. Its not 'always' hard work. There will be many times when its all so good, and flowing like a dream.
But... You shouldn't quit the very first moment the dream is challenged with some sort of problem. This is where the work comes in...
And then, if you put in the work, you get your flowing dream back. :P
Conrad Black Guilty
Posted: 7/15/2007 8:04:35 PM
I personally have no problem with Conrad Black regaining his Canadian citizenship, after all he was born in Canada, and also grew up in Canada.
So despite the man's superior intellect (near genius as was stated earlier - the man holds more University degrees than most of us have in our whole family), he has made some rather questionable decisions. Which of us haven't?
He is not that great... he is a professional con artist.... that means to me, that the wealth and jobs that are created when he is involved, were already there, and he just claimed credit for them and took a cut.
More and more I feel that we as Canadians seem to have this disdain for the "Rich, Elite and powerful". That somehow their position means they are no longer subject to human frailties.
Yeah, but some rich and powerful people do follow the law... I bet if he was John Smith, some nobody shmuch from Alberta, then no one would want to do him any favors either.
My thought....Get a grip...I wouldn't see you kicked out of..or not let back into what essentially is your home Country just because you made some poor judgements!
I bet Canada is better off... one less con artist stealing their money.
Even the "great" can fall...I guess that's why in the end we're all just human.
He is only a great criminal, from what i can see.
Now an interesting question....Hypothetical of course...
If Martha Stewart was Canadian...would everyone feel the same way? (Don't let her be a citizen again). Or would the fact that she's a woman somehow sway our sympathy for her?
Totally different situation... she is guilty of insider trading, so she deserved to get jailtime, which she did, but still... she stole nothing, hurt no one. She was a damn fool, but she was not a theif.
