Does God exist?
Posted:
4/30/2009 9:55:04 PM
Someone famous once said that 'we created God in our image, not the other way around'.I won't personally rule out the idea of a higher being because as soon as you think you have all the answers you stop learning.I'd rather keep an open mind to the possibility of a greater being or creator but I'm not the type to give in to blind faith and ignore all of the other possibility's that may or may not exist. However,I do believe in evolution.Does that mean that I can't also be a spiritual person?I think not.

over 40 and never married...is this a RED FLAG!
Posted:

Treselle, considering the fact that you have never met me and don't know me from Adam, you did a pretty good job of cutting me up by the time you got to the third sentence. But that does'nt surprise me in the least based on what I have read in your other posts. You do a grand job of judging people. To call me a self serving narcissist because I have more than one photo is stupidity. That would make most of the people on fish self serving narcissists.I don't believe thats true.Besides, its not me who's looking at my profile. As for self serving, I am doing this on line dating for me so that I can potentially find someone for me.Make sense?By the way, where's your picture?

Posted:

Well I'm over 40 and have never been married,I guess there's something wrong with me.I'm also over 40 and have never been divorced so I guess there's something right with me.I guess the two cancel each other out.PHEW! that was close,i thought there might really be something wrong with me but alas, all is o.k. again in my world.Actually I've been in common law arrangments where both partys agreed that a marraige certificate was just a useless piece of paper so if you look at a guy that has never been married and automatically assume its because he has commitment issues you could be very wrong. All situations are different.I've never had a problem commiting to one woman I just felt that at that time a piece of paper was'nt what was going to hold us together.

Infanticide has got to be one of the most horrific crimes. And being as stupid as this particular woman that would kill her daughter because her idiot boyfriend told her its her or me,well thats just sad.Throw away the key. She's obviously not smart enough to live in society without possibly hurting someone else.

Tazer crazy / Overuse of police force?!?
Posted:
2/28/2009 5:41:27 PM
Bonnieb,So far there have been about 20 tazer deaths in Canada. Not sure how many in the states. The funny thing is how did the police do policing before tazer technology.By doing good old fashioned police work, using diplomacy if at all possible, and problem solving. The problem is that with a tazer readily available it becomes the easy option.Just stun them and get the cuffs on when they're incapacitated instead of getting your hands dirty .This technology should only be used when the police feel that their lives are in grave danger. Not as a routine way of controlling the situation.

Slavery In The US?
Posted:
3/9/2007 7:06:14 PM
As far as I can tell we don't have slavery in north america unless you're talking about minimum wage and the working poor. What we should be concerned about is the sweat shops in China and India where our illustrious company's and their ceo's have set up a nice little profit machine where working conditions and enviromental concerns take a back seat to share holder return. This is essentially slavery on a far larger scale than anything that happened to africans and other minority's of the past.Nobody seems to care as long as they can shop on the cheap at Walmart or Costco.Whats equally disturbing is when someone like Tiger Woods endorses this slavery for Nike to the tune of 60 million dollars or so without equating the new type of slavery to the old. Is'nt he of african american descent?I thought so.

Cup-bound canucks
Posted:
11/29/2006 5:04:08 PM
The canucks are a one line team with no scoring and no one in the farm system to add anything of value when called apon. They have a good goalie that has never been in the playoffs and has never won anything. They also have no back up goaltender in the event Luongo gets hurt. They are preaching defensive responsibility because they have no other choice. At a time when the league is opening up and becoming more entertaining, the nucks are going backwards. It will take a few years for them to restock the farm with quality draft picks(if they are capable)and building from within which is the only way to do it in this new salary cap era of the n.h.l.Take a look at the Sabres for an example of speed, excitement, hard work, team first attitude and building from within.16 current players are Sabres draft picks.19-3-2 record with 5 or 6 rookies up from the farm for a good portion of the year to fill in for injuries to regulars and they still keep winning. The Rochester Americans, their farm team, is 16-2-1.The nucks can only wish they had the organizational depth and skill set of the sabres.Oh well, there's always next year.Keep your chin up and keep dreaming.

Floyd the 'royd' should be stripped of his title and banished from the sport for life.I'm sick of people sticking up for these cheating athletes simply for patriotic reasons. An athletes country of origin should'nt even come into the equation when debating this problem. If they cheat ,they're gone.Simple as that. These guys are the lowest of the low. They are morally bankrupt and amount to nothing more than greedy pricks. They bring down the credibility of the sport in general and ruin it for the honest athletes. They found synthetic testosterone in his system and he still has the nerve to deny he took anything.Give me a break. What a loser.

Cleric offers reward for killing cartoonist
Posted:

Passionateman, you know next to nothing of anyones education or where it was aquired. You simply assume you know. Not everyone needs to point out their level of intellegence in order to feel better about themselves. You go ahead and pat yourself on the back .One thing you need to realize is that the minute you think you know it all is the minute you stop learning. Also, just because someone disagrees with your point of view does'nt automatically make them unknowledgable or uneducated. It does'nt make them necessarily right or wrong. It's simply a point of view.As I said, quit making excuses for these muslim extremists and perhaps people will take your point of view more seriously.

Passionateman, when i say supposedly highjacked what i meant was that that is what the 'peaceloving' muslims are saying.I am absolutely convinced that bin laden was behind 9/11.As were the 14 or so saudi nationals that were on those planes.Look,we are all aware of who pulled the trigger so to speak, the only question anyone should have is who supplied the gun?You assume on this thread that everyone but you knows nothing of religion.Try being a little less condescending towards the other peoples opinions and realize that your opinions don't speak for all muslims just as mine or the other peoples don't speak for all jews, christians, etc. Also,if a muslim is on a plane and it crashes, and they trace him back to a terrorist cell or organisation,he is guilty. It matters not that he was a good provider to his family,a good father or was disiplined in his prayers. He has obviously got some problems with his whole thinking process if he is blowing up planes. What we need is for 'good' muslims like you to stop making excuses for these people and rise up and take back your religion.Thats all i meant.Of course thats only my opinion.

Why have the clerics not offered a reward for bin ladens head?If he supposedly highjacked their religion for his own purposes as they say, then why is'nt that a worse transgression?I know why ,because they all secretly support his actions.I can't believe otherwise until I see muslims rise up and take back their religion from these extremists.Ya right.

If peaceful muslims rose up and showed the same passion when the terrorists blow up children in the name of their god,as they do over a cartoon, maybe the world would'nt be in this mess. Why can't they understand the hypocracy in their actions? They remain silent when terrorists kill or behead innocents in effect condoning the acts of terror. Why is a cartoon able to get this response from their clerics yet an act as terrible as the trade towers gets no response.Maybe a muslim can answer that?

I've said it before but it really gets me that muslims will get their $hit in a knot over cartoons of their prophet ,yet fellow muslims can highjack their religion and fly bombs(planes) into buildings or blow up innocent woman and children supposedly in that same prophets name and muslims remain silent? What gives? What is the worse transgression? How can they put a simple caricature of the prophet as a worse crime than having idiots using their religion as a vehicle or a means to an end to commit terrible crimes to get their point across. These are some really screwed up people.Go out and kill more innocents because a cartoonist puts a picture of the prophet in a paper but remain silent to the beheadings and bombings. These people need education first and foremost.

the NHL betting scandal

Gambling is built into the very fabric of north american culture. At every turn we are encouraged to gamble.Who really cares if these guys bet on the super 'bull'.95 % of north america bet on the game from small wagers to large. The only reason the gov't is involved is because they feel left out.Boo hoo.Now they want their pound of flesh. This is a witch hunt.If this was Joe nobody, these charges would'nt even have surfaced let alone cover every news paper. It's highly hipocritical of the gov't to whine when they have their fingers in literally every wager placed from sports action lotteries to powerball to bingo. My message to these mafiosos disguised as officials is keep your friggin fingers out of my pockets.

Toronto always looks like they're skating in mud. They have virtually no team speed which is a huge asset in the new nhl. They need to get rid of the greybeards and get some young blood with wheels if they want to compete. They need a coach capable of coaching in the new nhl not a dinosaur like Pat Quinn. He's stuck in the seventy's with his style.Look at how the young Sabres team has adapted to the new rules.Tons of speed, mobile defence,no prima donna superstars, all no names with a total team attitude.Team first and foremost before personal goals.Four lines that can get it done,no number one line.Roll four lines.Great young goaltenders.I'm sorry but the leafs suck.

Rickylee,so a few Canadians booed your anthem.I am sorry and embarrassed that that happened. So what! I'll bet you don't remember the world series(the one toronto won) when the U.S.marines flew the Canadian flag upside down?I do.Look,I'm a proud Canadian and as surprising as it may seem to you I have no desire to be an American. Why would I want to be.I'm Canadian.Thats not a bash it's simply the honest truth.I am quite content to live in the greatest country in the world.I'm sure the vast majority of Canadians would say the same.Thats probably hard for you to understand not being Canadian but its really that simple. If someone from Canada ****es about American foreign policy or the current administration its not bashing its a critique. So what. And as a person whose all too aware of how good we have it 'up here',its certainly not envy.So learn to turn the other cheek my friend. Peace!

Are War of the Worlds themes related to the war on terrorism?
Posted:
11/25/2005 7:26:31 AM
It's always been easier to demonize the enemy in order to hate them.Dehumanize the enemy and its just like shooting a sick dog.The last thing your leaders want is for you to try to understand your enemy or their reasons for feeling the way they do.This was the case in ww 2 Japan where they were thought to be non human because they were different (gook, yellow **stard,etc.).The war on terror is no different. The only difference is that it can be applied to any country your leader wants with a broad brush, not just one unruly aggressor. As long as there are muslims.Or the other scenario,"you're either with us or against us"

just like witches at black masses
evil minds that plot distruction
sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodys burning
as the war machine keeps turning
death and hatred to mankind
poisoning their brainwashed minds
politicians hide themselves away
they only started the war
why should they go out to fight
they leave that up to the poor
time will tell them their power blinds
making war just for fun
treating people just like pawns in chess
wait till their judgement day comes
now in darkness world stops turning
ashes where the bodies burning
no more war pigs of the power
and as god has struck the hour
day of judgement god is calling
on their knees the war pigs falling
begging masses for the sane
satan laughing spreads his wings

I have'nt read the entire thread and I would'nt because it is clearly meant to flame but what people need to understand is that Canada sent Arar to the U.S. who then sent him to Syria.Arar is a Canadian citizen who Canada sent to America to help in the war on terror and he was sent to Syria without Canada's knowledge.America has since apologised for sending a Canadian citizen to Syria.Aparently the U.S. says they thought he was a Syrian citizen and not Canadian.Thread title is misleading and wrong.

I guess thats why the pres. is pushing so hard for free trade of the americas. To ensure the corporate take over of the natural resourses of these countries. If that does'nt work then just crush them with embargos or militarily. But the fact remains that the U.S. can't keep viewing other countries oil supplies as their own.Or maybe they can?

Last new years they played in downtown Nanaimo,B.C. I watched them in a pub a few feet from the site on the bigscreen. They were as big a joke now as they were in their prime. When Mike Reno came onstage in his red leather pants,40ish gut and white headband the entire pub broke out into hysterical laughter. At one point in the show some poor misguided female threw her panties at Mike Reno and he made a comment about hotel keys and panties being thrown at him all the time. The pub once again broke out into hysterics.

It would seem to me that the head of the house of Suad was treated better when he visited. Is'nt Great Britian an ally of the U.S.?
