hmm, btw, what is population there? not even 61 millions.

the buying power of pounds in that island is less than the dollars. worked there (business trips) and know a bit there. the funny part is that europeans always think they are smarter or more knowledgeable than americans, actually i think it is other way around.

Did Obama do the walk

So please tell me ,are most of you Americans happy with Obama? In Britain we think its great overall but understand that he cannot sort everything out.

i love it when he put cap on the salaries of some top employees of the white house, but he also worries me when he signed the executive order for those prisoners. well, i didn't see a new plan to replace what we have now (i know what we have now sucks)...

i ldo ike the idea of Obama. i love the picture of him drunk and unshaven with a cigarette in his mouth. but you know he's not gonna be able to do anything REALLY constructive. he's not the decision maker. he's mascot. someone you can all rally behind while your country slides into bankrupcy (ours too) .

maybe yours, not mine. even the worst time of usa economy would be much better than your normal economy.. with my limited memory and knowledge, i don't remember usa ever had double digits of unemployment in last 50 years. in contrast, double digits of unemployment is something common in europe. people in the states might have to change their life style a bit for the future; that is because we have to, what we have now is not sustainable in the long run. the limited resources on earth just won't accommodate such life style forever. but bankruptcy of the states? are you high on something? check the reality..

Hmmm, We (USA) seem to be getting more and more socialist each passing day. The Soviets would be very happy. Heck they did not even have to fire a single shot.

man, "ism" is no good for business. personally i don't care about what "ism" would we have, as long as the policies work for the country and work for the people.

bush is good man as far as i can tell, but his administration stumbled on the "ism"...

I've wanted to try this same stunt at Chinese restaurants who seem to only hire within their family or ethnic group.

why freaking russia? it is 21th century, 2009. 2010 not that far either, just in case you didn't notice the time.

are you planning an invasion of russia? or you just not satisfied for just sitting in couch, watching the "red down", eating potato chips, and want to see some sort of wars in actions?

i do think an invasion of mars would happen sooner and later; unmanned drones have already landed there. if i not mistaken, martians probably getting ready for the war and they will fight back...

you defintely can apply for that fight

Things you dislike but can't live without?

to HumorMe*:

well, i do agree that there is some sort of censorship there, so is in the west. indeed, in terms of propaganda, , western media is far, far skillful than chinese government.

the subject of "tibet independence" was started by the brits in 19th century, as so many trouble spots around world can all trace their roots back to the brits....

no one denies the fact of those ex-lords/high ranking lamas in india want 'independence" and the people of china are keenly aware of this. there were huge demonstrations by chinese students, both in china and in the west.

no country, ever, recognized tibet as a country, not before PRC, not after PRC. the funny thing is that all of countries behind this always officially deny the involvement, before the existence of PRC and after the existence of PRC. in the history of the west, all of ancient western maps clearly marked it was a part of china.

as to the resilience of a country's economy and capability of handling disasters, surely size matters.

Meanwhile in Gaza
Posted: 1/8/2009 3:24:38 PM

hmmm, kinda like how a country called canada started?

actually hardly anyone can argue who were the first in that area called "palestine" in history. one thing indisputable is that it was the jews who built the city of jerusalem.

The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of aboriginal people. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled along, the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal Dominion of four Provinces.[7][8][9] This began an accretion of additional provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom, highlighted by the Statute of Westminster in 1931, and culminating in the Canada Act in 1982 which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament.

i am trying to find the similarities between those cases and i need help ...

wait a sec, not chinese? hmm, i should start some sort of religion so that i can claim that city of jerusalem is holy city of my religion....

This is just amusing, considering most of these little european countries have been around for literally hundreds of years longer than the USA.

Dedicated Server?
Posted: 12/6/2008 8:51:23 PM
well, dedicated server is the least concern of yours, if you think about running as business.

hardware is cheap, with few hundreds $$$ you can get quite powerful used server on ebay. of course for web server u need plenty of memory for the plenty of fishes that use ur site regularly. maintaining the server, both hardware and software will be biigest challenge; you have to be geeky enough to get around the web sever besides the OS underneath of the web server.

home connections wouldn't do the job since home connections are asymmetric in nature; meaning that those links have small outbound (upload) bandwidth (few hundreds kbps) but larger inbound (download) bandwidth, usually 2~5mbps. if you use this kind links for business, then traffic destines to you server is larger than the contents coming out your connection.

good idea would be 1) set up domain name 2) rent a disk space from big guy like yahoo, microsoft or earthlink.net, etc 3) set up a web page.

that would be cost effective, but you still need to maintain your own web page...

Wireless help needed!
Posted: 12/6/2008 9:54:33 AM

I've noticed a lot of wireless cards that include their own software on top of the drivers tend to be problematic more often than not. Usually I try to install just the drivers and let Windows control the card. Try uninstalling the card, go into the device manager, click on the wireless card and chose 'update driver'. Tell it to search the CD-ROM with the disc inserted and see if that works.

yep, that is the key.

i have a p3 machine loaded with xp. it uses Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g PCI Wireless LAN Client Adapter (PI21AG). if i installed the whole package from cisco, the system would freeze up but instead, i just installed the driver, the hardware performs remarkably.

for windows, all it needs is the driver for that hardware. everything else is option.

i bought that on ebay for $20 few years back. it is professional grade wireless card.

Advice on buying a new computer
Posted: 12/6/2008 9:34:13 AM
in hardware business, the margins of profits are so thin that the price and hardware quality is closely associated. yes dell laptops are cheap but they aren't that well built. where i work (under dod), dell is only game for wintel applications. desktop is ok, servers are acceptable (of course, ibm servers are better but the cost more), but always complaining about dell laptops.

AVOID those "custom" built laptops. laptops requires much, much more than just buy motherbaord, some componenst and put together.

sounds like bush alone would be the scapegoat for the whole mess. hello, people, bush was elected president of the united states of america. whatever decisions he made were not his alone. indeed, the invasion of iraq was well supported in the camps of both right and left.

as long as we have the mentality that we are better than others, our values are only right ones in this world, we are the indisputable leader of this world, we will have bush second, third ...

The truth about welfare!
Posted: 11/14/2008 11:44:43 PM

Spending this money at the bottom, helps keep the economy going. Every one of those dollars goes right back into the economy. It creats jobs and helps prevent recessions. Spending money on Welfare has a return on the investment better than ANY other government spending. The reduction in welfare is one of the Primary causes of our current recession.

so we have this financial mess because we don't spend enough money for social welfare? am i missing something or just your theory of economics is way beyond the Nobel Prize?

Advice on buying a new computer
Posted: 11/14/2008 6:27:37 PM
go to cpuid.com, download cpu-z. it is a piece of very small program that can be run off hard disk; meaning you can run on floppy diskette, usb flash drive. the program would tell you what in your old computer (major parts like cpu, motherboard, memory, etc). with that, you would know what exactly you have now and what you are getting ...

CPU-Z does not need to be installed. Just unzip the files in a directory and run the .exe. In order to remove the program, just delete the files.
The program does not copy any file in any directory, neither writes in the registry.

another piece of freeware called "pc wizard" on the same web site. it would tell you very detailed information of your pc. but honestly most of those commercial pc "gurus" would have little understanding of the information. this piece of software has to be installed on your pc.

Republicans caused economic crisis, read todays news!
Posted: 10/31/2008 8:12:15 PM
i am not repub but i have to say something for repub on the issue of bad economy....

ok, repubs are responsible for the mess we have now. but wait, demos are so smart, where were the hell they were doing when the mess were in creating? when obama was screaming that republican economic policies ruined economy, but what has he done during his years in public services? i didn't hear or see any evidence that could prove he has foreseen the mess. he is nothing but a big talking lawyer wanna be in the oval office; he is just one of those millions of "prophets" who making "prophecies" after facts.

iraq war is extremely unpopular, ok now everyone blames bush administration, especially those democrats/liberals. yes bush administration should take a large share of the blames, but most of democrats/liberals were on the bush side back then, though for different reasons.

kinda like hookers pretending to be virgins ...
