Barry Bonds...Homerun Record...and Growth Hormones/Steroids in MLB
Posted: 7/24/2007 11:02:03 PM
There are some statistical and physical proof that Bonds has been taking steroids, but we don't knw for how long exactly. However, after the McGwire-Sossa home-run breakout season, Bonds' home-run production and his size have increased despite his age, and one season he hit 73 homeruns while he hit 40+ homeruns almost every year since 1999 when he only had two 40+ homerun seasons before that.

During a call-in session of a sports talk show on my local radio show, some callers claim that Bonds' steroid problem isn't as big as it seems because it wasn't under the rules of baseball that a player cannot take HGH, and Bonds might have perscription for it, so because it's not in the rules, then Bonds shouldn't be considered as a cheater. Still, it clearly enhanced his performance by a ridiculous rate. Bonds, according to fans and sports talk hosts alike, has been a very good or great players even back in his Pittsburgh days--I haven't been a baseball fan so I wouldn't know this for a fact--and that he doesn't need anything illegal to enhance his performance.

women soccer players
Posted: 7/24/2007 10:47:50 PM
I like soccer, men's and women's alike. Women play with heart and soccer is either boring or intense for games of both genders and it's easier to accept women's place in soccer than their place in hockey because soccer can be easily adopted for both genders without much changes to the rules, unlike, say, hockey, where men's and women's games are played differently and under slightly different rules mainly because of the physical nature of the game.

The women's world cup is coming up in September. I can't wait to see Canada hopefully win it all or go as far as possible. Countries like Brazil, Germany, the US, and China field high quality teams. Women's soccer is catching on quick globally and it's a good sign.

What brought you to POF

My online female friend who has met a few men off this website suggested and convinced me to sign up here after I've told her about my frustrations of being single and failed attempts to capture a woman's heart.

What is wrong withnot drinking
Posted: 7/11/2007 8:11:24 PM
People are so fascinated or even possessive of the material things in the world. Some might not date non-drinkers, some might only date clubbers or party-animals, and some might only date people who dress expensively or goes to fancy restaurnts or pricey stores, or some would even expect gifts from his/her date or brand name/high quality products. The thing is that some people failed to realize the true value of dating or relationship, that it's how much quality time you spend with your date together, not how much money you spend doing certain unnecessary things, such as drinking, that actually harm your body.

I don't like drinking myself and hope to meet someone who doesn't like drinking much either. I don't mind going drinking once a while (by that I mean once every few months), but if she wants to do that on the first date, then I'd have no choice.

Interracial Dating....
Posted: 7/11/2007 7:58:30 PM
This is the 21st century, so such question should not be asked because racism shouldn't still be existing.

Interracial dating and marriages is and should be the same as relationships and marriages between people of the same race or cultural background. It is not t he colour of the skin or culture that matters; it's the personality, attributes, and values that matter. Yes, people of different races have different attributes, personalities, values, and ways of thinking, but it depends on how one wants to accept another culture. I have friends (Caucasian or Asian) that date people of different race and they're happy together for the most part. I myself like Caucasians and I'm Asian.

BS call in Canada vs. United States (soccer)
Posted: 6/26/2007 11:50:56 PM
Soccer needs video replay like that in hockey. Time can be added on for the duration of the replay, and it shouldn't take long to make a decision. It has proven over and over again that referees or officials can make poor judgements or just couldn't see things clear enough during the play because things can happen all of a sudden and so fast. Human eyes can be great, but you cannot rely on them to make right judgements all the time especially split-second ones. Just have a look at the play on different angles and make the right decision.

Copa America 2007 football/soccer
Posted: 6/26/2007 7:12:34 PM

Any reason the U.S has sent an under strength side?

As one poster indicated earlier, the US and Mexico are invites, and the top players are probably either tired or hae committments to their club teams, besides, it doesn't matter if the US or Mexico wins this tournament or not because it doesn't have much impact on them aside from the rankings. This tournament is the South American version of the Gold Cup, where the winner will get a berth in the Confederation Cup, so even if US or Mexico wins this tournament, the highest South American finisher will advance to the Confederation Cup because neither US nor Mexico is part of the South American confederation (forgot the abbreviation), just like Guadeloupe isn't an official member of the CONCACAF.

While it is a good idea for CONCACAF not to invite countries from other confederation for its own tournament (i.e. the Gold Cup) because of the need to increase competition and develop skills within the confederation, it is not the case for South America because the confederation is strong and it only has ten members. Mexico has been a long-time invite and now the US also gets it, and these two countries are competitable with the South American teams. If Canada continues to perform well, I think it'll get an invite, too, and it'll be good for Canada to measure itself against the South American powerhouses.

You have to wait forever for a parking space until the get too frustrated and impatient to wait, then you drive away.

There's a point that doesn't fit the parking lot analogy:

Many women involve with men don't treat them right and you left on the outside looking in.

Positive correlation between IQ and profile length?
Posted: 6/26/2007 1:25:16 PM
Not really, some can write concise profiles and those are the smart ones. Some can write long profiles that don't seem to make sense, and that doesn't mean the person is smart of has a high IQ.

Age Differences
Posted: 6/26/2007 1:10:12 PM

25-35

Yeah that's probably the best range, plus or minus five years of your age. Women have been advised not to have kids beyond 35 years of age (first pregnancy I think), but there are many first-time moms who are over that age with healthy babies.

For a man looking to get married, I don't think he should be looking for a woman who has a ten years or more of a difference than him. The closer the age gap the more competitible the couple are and the easier to communicate, I think.

Has anyone been brave enough to meet someone with no pic at all?
Posted: 6/26/2007 1:01:20 PM
While it's true that the first impression you have is a person's physical appearance when you are in a public setting, and for that reason some people would want to see your pic before responding, but it truly shouldn't matter if you are trying to connect with the person because eventually, online or in public, you will get to know the person's interests, dislikes, behaviour, personal attributes, and so on, and any relationship from friendship to marriage, is about how you match with the other's attributes, interests, and values, not physical appearance.

When I scount my matches, I read their profile and what they've written instead of evaluating based on their pics if they have one. The interest keyword section is what I pay attention the most.

What do men feel about Gemini women? Are we too much?
Posted: 6/26/2007 12:50:20 PM
I have a Gemini female friend (actually's it's my friend's coworker's friend) and she's pretty "un-hyper" (what's the opposite for "hyper?"), and no, I don't believe in astrology and how the astrological sign will make or break a person's life and fortune. I use that as a reference to guess a person's birthday and it gives you a common topic to talk about especially if you and your date have the same astrological sign.

What makes you proud to be a Canadian
Posted: 6/25/2007 11:24:31 PM
Lots of things.

Canada, especially Vancouver, is like a "little Earth" where people from many nations reside.
Canada has freedom of choice and is a democratic country, unlike many others.
Parts of Canada, especially BC, has one of the world's best sceneries.
Whistler's the best skiing getaway.
We're #1 in hockey (well, not according to 2006 IIHF ranking, but we produce the most NHLers and Canadian captains almost always win the Cup)
Canada is not war-hungry nor it leaves other countries a bad taste. You don't see terrorists attacking us, do you? Maybe the fact that we have terrorists walking around without knowing it is a bit scary.
Sarah Mclachlan and Bryan Adams are not only Canadians, but they're Vancouverites.
Steve Nash won the NBA MVP two years in a row and it should've been a three-peat!
Canada has one of thw world's cleanest water. You can fill up your water bottle straight from a stream.

Hockey anyone?
Posted: 6/25/2007 11:11:22 PM
It's amazing that this thread has been in existence since 2005. I still remember the lockout like it was yesterday. It was surely a huge pain of the butt.

I love hockey and have been a hockey and Canucks fan since 1996. Canucks are my home team as I live there. Today (right now it's Monday, June 25, 2007, 11:08PM PDT) is the one-year anniversary of the Luongo trade. It was probably the biggest trade involving the Canucks since the Bure-Jovanovski deal that involved others.

Calling all Canuck fans to post in here to stop all the arguments! GO CANUCKS GO!!!

P.S.: Linden has to return for at least one more season!

America won qualifier......
Posted: 6/25/2007 11:01:42 PM
Well congrats to them, but remember that the Canadians didn't go offside in the semi-final game and the tying goal should count. The game would head into extra time, and even if the US went on to win, which would still be possible, the game would've ended in a fair way, providing the goal wouldn't be controversial. Some people would say that we Canadians whine, but this wasn't the first time the same official has screwed Canada over. All the complaining was to display our displeasure and to call for justice.

Hopefully that errotic official would not be working the CONCACAF World Cup 2010 qualifying tournament, and that the officials would be well-trained and be honest in their judgements. Whether Canada qualify for the World Cup or not, it wouldn't be matter as long as the team plays the hardest and the reffing is fair.
