Pemberton Music Festival

Anyone plan on going? It looks huge! I'm trying to get some friends on board to go in the motorhome. This kind of event destroys Merit in my opinion, because the music is actually going to be good!

Take a stranger to a wedding? ( ie. a plentyoffish-er)

oooh, the wedding party date...thats a tough one, sending the poor guy off alone to his doom at a table of probing strangers while you do your duties at the head table. it would allow you a reason to get away from him if it didn't work out though :P

Is this an intelligent thing to do or am I asking for it? I really gotta plead ignorinse on this one as I kould enbision it going either really good or really bad. I am not in the party or anything. I apologise as the 4 letters to the left of my B key do not work so my typos are weak attempts to kommunikate....oh the stress of my life.

Best place to live in Greater Vancouver

I've been ho-humming buying a place for almost 3 years now because I wasn't sure where I wanted to live or what I wanted to do for work. Now that I know, I'm ready to put an end to renting. I've seen your other posts before and I know how much a pain in the ass it is finding decent rental places. I live out of the area and it makes it that much harder to drive in to see places only to find it was misrepresented or the landlord doesn't show...nice way to waste a day. I've sat and watched real estate soar while I could have afforded buying the entire time; It's just time for me to get into the market.

Thanks for the new west idea. I like the prices there but it's just a little too far east for me.

I've narrowed down moving locations from Burnaby to North Van. The thing is, I barely know any of the geography out that way and it's really hard to look at MLS listings when you don't know anything about the area.

I'd just like to live in a decent, clean neighborhood. Something close to parks, water, outdoorsy stuff etc.. would be ideal. Price is obviously going to be an issue but if I get some kind of heads-up, I can at least eliminate some areas I should be avoiding.

Here are the links to the maps from MLS. If anyone can give info on the 2 letter codes for any of these areas, that would be great. Maybe I'll even invite everyone to a houseparty *cough*getyoualltohelpmemove*cough*.

Burnaby http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6567
East Van http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6576
Van West http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6577
West Van http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6578

Perhaps by "choker" he meant "diver." Much more appropo.

Can't argue that

***It should be noted that Dominik Hasek was in goal, and the simulator does not factor in a "choke" statistic!

Since when is Hasek a choker? His career playoff GAA is 2.02 and his SP is .926. Not to mention a Cup, a final, and an eastern final as well. Aside from injuries this year, he has been nothing less than outstanding for the Wings.

Morbid..but what song is a must to your good-bye
Posted: 3/25/2007 7:55:54 AM
I don't understand how a few people chose "hurt" by Johnny Cash (NIN). I always took this song as one about self loathing and inflicting pain in others. Just because it sounds sad doesn't mean its about grief and loss.
But, hey, music is a personal thing and I guess people have their own reasons.

Well, I ran the command and nothing really happened: no prompts or anything so I just rebooted. The internet security I had was Bitdefender, not Norton, but I unistalled it anyways as per your suggestion.

Still nothing.

hmmm...the Unistall option is grayed out.

And actually, MSN messenger does not sign in either. (error code 80072efd). WhenI hit the "troubleshoot" option, the Basic Internet Connectivity Tests box stops at the Gateway test, where it says "my gateway appears to be offline"

For the record, this is drving me insane. I really should take a computer course or something some day.

The error message for Outlook is "0x80042108 Outlook is unable to connect to your incoming POP3 e-mail server"...for both recieveing and sending.

At the update page it says "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem." Followed by typical non-specific suggestions.

I connect using shaw cable regular high speed with a Motorola sB5101 Surfboard modem. I am running XP and IE 7. Aside from the Windows Update page, all the web pages I go to seem to work fine.

I wonder if limewire, outlook, and skype have something in common that wouldn't make them work.

Thanks for reading.

Suddenly my microsoft office 2003 will not send or receive emails. I have tried turning off my firewall and system restore doesn't work either. The only thing I had done lately was install the ATI control center for my graphics card.

Oddly, my skype and limewire programs will not connect either. I also cannot connect to the Windows Update page; it just keeps searching for updates then eventually ends with an error message.

Anyone with any ideas? I cannot find anything on the net at all.

Where are my files??

i just don't understand why my hard drive would say 140g have been used up

the crappy part of this is that i had intended to back up all my files last week but the dvd disks i bought were not compatible with my drive to do so.

Oy! I'm expecting the worst here...

I ran my HP recovery disks today to restore my computer's defaults because of some problems I was having. The intro to the recovery said that this process would allow me to keep my files and documents while restoring the computer to factory specs and settings.

Well, I restored it and now I can't find any of my files. All my music and movies are nowhere to be found. The weird thing is, my hard drive still says it has 140GB on it that I cannot account for.

Are my files "hidden" somewhere? I'm at a loss.

Hasn't Shamrock had enough?
Posted: 10/11/2006 6:03:45 AM
"I had alot of respect for Shamrock until I watched him coach his team on "The Ultimate Fight" series. After witnessing the way he acted and how tito told everybody about him refusing to sign autographs, made me hate him and lose all respect for him. The hell with Ken Shamrock, I hope when he gets beaten down the Ref doesn't stop the fight so early so he can suffer severe injuries to the head. **** Shamrock he's better off working for Vince."

So you put 100% stock in the portrayal of him by a heavily produced and edited tv show? Do you think Tito has signed every single autograph that's ever been asked of him? Going into that show, Tito was viewed as a disrespectful classless punk but he took the golden opportunity to make himself look like the good guy. Smart marketing move on his part, but he is what he is...a disrespectful classless punk. Try not to believe everything you see on tv.

How far would you commute for a first date?
Posted: 7/17/2006 12:42:45 AM

Ok someone please explain this to a simple valley girl such as myself. Why is it that people from this side of the bridge ( Abbotsford) think nothing of driving into the city to meet someone. But the folks in the city think they are driving to no where land in back to come this way across the bridge to meet someone??? I am so confussed. Since when did a drive of aprox. a hour suddenly become a long distance relationship??..lol

Absolutely! I don't think it's that a big of a deal but when you tell people in the "big city" that you live out in the valley, they make you feel like you live half way across the world. I do hate that damn Port Mann bridge but if you time it right, it's not so bad.
Oh well, I'm waving the white flag and moving to the GVRD anyways. Hopefully won't have to deal with such problems anymore. And I will leave the precious Vancouver area to meet Valley-ers if need be!

anybody ever work out on one of these? im a traditionalist when it comes to weights and dont like anything but freeweights. however, it would be nice to work out alone at home without worrying about rolling a barbell down my body when im trying a max-weight bench press :P

the potential downsides i see are they dont give you a good resistance workout and that you are confined to the movement of the bar (mainly for squats)

Posted: 8/29/2005 11:09:22 PM
its the song that runs from about 25 seconds in (when the words "The Fate Of A Child" come up) to about the 1 minute mark. ive heard it somewhere else but i distinctly remembered it from the "Ever After" trailer (dont ask me how i remember; ive never seen the movie). it doesnt appear to be on the official soundtrack.

it depends what youre looking for. if its just hanging out, who cares? but nobody can convince me that physical attraction is not a factor in pursuing something on a higher level. think about it...what if the guy youre thinking about kissing looks like your hairy Uncle Pat...or if the girl your thinking about kissing looks like your hairy Aunt Pat.

the fairy tale sounds nice, but there has to be some level of physical attraction.
