To me both subjects are very important. I am [very] conservative in my thinking and I go to church twice a week. It would be hard to have an intimate ( that is - close personal- not purely sexual) relationship with someone at the opposite end of the spectrum; politically or religiously. For the life of me I don't know haw Mary Matilin puts up with hubby, James Carville, although they have made it work.

If it was truly the drugs then your Doctor should have changed them. Mixing alcohol with your meds certainly didn't help. Anti-depressants should ONLY be prescribed by a Psychiatrist who understands how they are too be used, the dosage and side effects of each brand. They should not be mind altering! The proper med will not cause you to feel anything other than, well, not depressed. The other factor is what is causing the depression. Your GP cannot and should not help you in that regard. Do not take yourself off the meds and don't listen to the Tom Cruse opinion that you can heal yourself crap! Seek proper help.

If you are a faithful Catholic then I suggest you should discuss this with your priest. If you are not then figure out whether your family or this woman is more important; especially if the idea of marriage comes to mind.

Guess that's why it's called dating! Dating is what I taught my kids (girl & boy) to do rather than get 'involved' before they knew what was up. To me dating means no commitment and no explanations. If you're dating a woman and she can't keep your stats correct then maybe it's time to move on.

I agree with wisdomtooth. The guy is extremely selfish and self centered. His relationship with you is for his convenience only. Suggest you say good bye. You have no business living with this guy and be thankful you are not married. Your house? Pack his bags - His house? Pack your bags and get you and the kids outta there. Besides, what is his behavior teaching your kids about the conduct of men?

You MUST see an professional. One that is used to dealing with depression. I'm talking psychologist and not an regular MD. Psychologists have long term experience with the causes and drugs involved. GP's do not. Please, do not try and do this on your own. You will have a fool for a doctor and your depression will deepen! While there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed there is no good reason to share this with anyone outside your immediate family & friend circle. Alcohol is a No-No when taking anti-depressants and that is very easy to circumvent. Just say NO! I'll have an ice tea or club soda tonite thank you.
