Photos & Comments: London Fri. June 20th: BBQ & Dance
Posted: 6/21/2008 4:18:11 AM
WOW... wasnt that a party. I managed to stagger home (yup I walked home!!) and somehow that helped with the hangover.

Beautiful place .... great and friendly staff and most importantly of all.... A WONDERFUL HOST - and kinda cute too.

Oh yeah and the rest of the people were a hoot too!!!

Only one thing left to say...

When's the next one!!

(Okay maybe we recover from this one first.)

But once again...

Thank you for such a wonderful time!!!

Last common sense reminders...

Please don't drink and drive.

Please no excessive rowdy behaviour - if you've come to make trouble please find another bar.

Ladies... please take precautions when going to the washroom and leaving your drinks unattended.

NOW EVERYONE.... LETS PARTY!!!!

I have got to ask.... What part DOESN'T the sundress cover????

The temperature is going to be perfect too.... not too hot and cooling down just in time for the party.

Just want to put out a big thank you in advance to Miss Allison and Agapantha for putting this event together. Great work ladies... its going to be one heck of a night.

I did a drive-by of the place today... Its a White Facade building on the left hand side of the street heading north from the Bus Station on York. It does NOT have a flashy exterior... just a sign above the building.

Parking is available at at York and Ridout and another lot in the middle of the block between Talbot and Richmond on one side and York and King on the other. You can enter that lot off of York or King St.

Of course underground parking is also available at the Market.

I've got one co-worker and maybe potential POF'r coming to see what fishies are all about. If you could add her to the list...

Just call her D.R. and she will mention me by my username too.

Thanks.

Finally voices of reason. I am stuck in the middle of Leaf's country or Wings country (congrats to the Red Wings btw).

All I have to say to the Maple Leaf fans is... when was the last time your team could say it was only 3 games away from winning the Stanley Cup?

Looking for feedback for events. London Area
Posted: 5/30/2008 5:12:15 PM
Okay got a lot of help... but I am also wondering what type of events will bring out some of the ummm not so mature members of POF (ie 45 and under). Any feedback from them is appreciated too. Not that theres anything wrong with the older crowd but it seems the amount of people in their 30's and 40's has really decreased lately and I'd like to see more people in my age bracket start attending events.

As an added help look for a tall extremely handsome guy in the three piece suit outside the entrance .... I will be the short scrawny guy next to him trying to pick up his discards LOL...

But I am sure we could get the new comers and nervous people to all meet let say at the market and then go together as a group. I am willing to set this up if people want to do that. I know all about butterflies and social butterflies...lol.

Just wondering if there is an official POF logo or icon that I can make into a flag or poster?

Dating and ODSP
Posted: 5/25/2008 5:43:18 AM

For those of you who complain about the amount of money someone who is in ODSP recieves: Why do you not write letters to your MPP? Get things changed!!!

What country do you live in??? In our sick society unfortunately those souls at a disadvantage are considered a burden in the governments eyes. They would rather spend the money on more important things like new furniture for their offices and making new tax loopholes so all their rich friends pay less.

These people don't need the added burden of being scorned because of source of income ... they aren't looking for a hand out... they are just looking for the most basic of all human needs... companionship.

Is There Any Serious People Out Here Looking To Find Mr./Mrs.Right???...Honestly!!!!!
Posted: 5/22/2008 2:31:02 PM
Ouch....

So you saying the money brings happiness? Or only to the owners of those dating sites?

Ladies... if Mr Right/Mr Perfect existed... wouldn't he be already married or taken? And if you were Ms Right/Ms Perfect... then wouldn't you already be taken?

I think that people set too high of standards and then blame everyone else but themselves when their attempts fail. Think outside the box... don't let things like age or the fact that they live in Wasamazoo Alberta stop you if you ARE SERIOUS about finding someone.

And seriously ask yourself.... you have been single this long... why do you suddenly need someone in your life right now?

Cultivate friends first ... meet everyone you can and attend the events. Even if you don't meet someone at these places... they may know of someone who is perfect for you.

AND MOST importantly of all....

DON'T GIVE UP!

Thank you all... thats why I asked for feedback before planning the events.

I was iffy on the family events and now I can cross them off the list.

I am mainly looking for fun events that will get people out and enjoying the sun if possible and make them feel comfortable and not in a "dating" environment.

Any suggestions people have are appreciated.

I am interested in setting up some events for the summer but would love feedback whether there is interest in these types of events.

I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate. I did a search and found nothing related.

The events I have plan are:

1) Drive-In Movie night at the Mustang Drive In
2) Family fun day at Eastpark and Kite Flying Contest
3) Battle of the sex's at Palasad... Bowling, Pool, some other events.
4) Duc D Orleans boat cruise at Sarnia - 2 hour boat cruise down the St Clair with lunch included.
5) Group Camping

If you have any feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

What does your profile name mean?
Posted: 5/12/2008 6:34:05 AM
I am looking over the forums and profiles and see a lot of different profile names and am curious about why you picked that name and what it means in some cases?

I love wolfs and someone described them as Ghost walking among the timbers... and I fell in love with the name... and the 40 was because I realized I am over 40 now and have to accept the fact.

Oh and I apologize in advance if this subject was already done. I did a search and didn't come up with any previous threads from the Ontario boards.

Why is lying on the internet considered not as offensive as lying in general?
Posted: 5/12/2008 6:10:34 AM
I did notice that after this thread started people did become more honest in their profiles. I think this thread has helped open peoples eyes. I even went back over my profile and was shocked to discover that ... I told the truth from the beginning... I guess I have reached the age where I have come to accept the fact that either people take me as I am ... or its their loss in not getting the chance to know me better.

So people... honesty does work.

Why Is It That Men Wait for Women to Make the First Contact?
Posted: 5/12/2008 5:48:13 AM
Actually what seems to be lacking anymore is common courtesy. If someone has taken the time to message you then you should have the courtesy to at least reply and say thank you but your profile isn't what I am looking for. Its takes less then 30 seconds and its means much more to the person who made the contact in the first place then reading ... read/deleted.

Posted: 5/11/2008 7:22:59 PM
Is it lying or is it a form of advertising? How many people in their profile list all their bad habits or traits? None. Internet dating is all about presenting yourself in the best light. Fudging the facts towards the positive instead of the negative is part of human nature (sorry ladies.. I am not Brad Pitts identical twin as my profile claims.)

Big lies are a big no no... making yourself more desirable to the opposite sex... should be allowed... heck thats why the cosmetic industry is so huge.

And besides... if you take the time to get to know the person instead of basing your decisions on superficial things... then hopefully you can get past the little white lies and get onto a real relationship.

(Now to go polish my Ferrari... )

Name the number one thing keeping you single..
Posted: 5/10/2008 6:19:22 AM
Well I am such a sex symbol that I can't just save myself for one girl now can I??

JUST KIDDING....

I think my problem is that I believe in each person should still have their own independant lives and yet still be a couple. Two wholes instead of two halves making a whole.

Unfortunately my past relationships have been ... hi... now when do you want to get married.. (from her not me... ) and my response has been... we still have a lot of our life ahead of us... go slow... get to know me first...

I guess that now I am in my (more mature) age ... I am looking for someone that I know I can grow old(er) with.

BUT I AM NOT DEAD YET... and life does begin at 40!!

(I love this little guy!!)

Okay the title was poorly thought out... It should have been "Where are your hidden outdoor spots to sit back and unwind with someone special."

And like Miss Allison so nicely put it...

Its the company that makes the spot special.

Where is yours?

Okay day is booked off and now just to find the right shoes and handbag... ooops... wrong party...

I think streaming the event would let more lurkers see that the events are casual and non-threatening and hopefully will bring out more people.

And with a downtown location you should have a great turnout.
