I, too, started watching that show out of morbid curiousity.
Now I'm hooked
Luke ( the guy ) is looking better and better to me...LOL.
But seriously, I have to agree with many of the others. Most of these plus-size women on the show have low self-esteem and no confidence.
I'm rooting for Tali to win next week

I'm not going to bother to argue with you. However, if you are so adamant about our great salaries, benefits, etc. , why haven't you applied or one of our jobs...heck, the City has hired over 100 Social Services workers in the past year.
As far as garbage and daycare being contracted out...it'll never happen.
A special thanks to My I for having the patience and insight to respond to so many of these "misinformed" posters.
I'm back at work and still getting my Sick Bank benefits and a raise!!!

I'm not intentionally picking on you normaldude, but those people that are posting free ads for garbage bag pick-ups and charging the public a fee, unless they are licenced to do so, will be fined very heavily by the City of Toronto. Feel free to do a little research.
Just for your information.....

normaldude presents a great example of people that cannot read or comprehend the English language. That's probably why he was never offered a City job.
If you could read my post, normaldude, you would know that I pay $ 35.00 per PAY and not per DAY!!!

As a City of Toronto ( Social Services ) employee, who makes $ 60 grand a year, let me just say that if you think you can do our jobs so well, why didn't you apply and get hired a long time ago....
When I was a single parent with 2 young children and working at a low paying waitress job, I got ill with a bad case of the flu one year. You guessed it ...no work=no pay.
At that point ( in the early 1980's ), I knew I had to make some major life changes and I started to research the needed requirements for a "cumfy government job with all the perqs".
In order to be qualified for the position I wanted, I had to attend College for 2 years and pay back a major OSAP loan. But you know what..it was well worth it and still is!!!!
So, if any one of you thinks you can do my job so well, go ahead and apply!!!!
There is a City of Toronto website that lists all the city jobs and their needed qualifications.
BTW: My union dues are over $ 35.00 per pay so I pay big time to be a union member.
As long as Miller and his cronies continue to ridicule themselves and make a mockery of this strike, we are not backing down.
Try being more informed on our issues instead of just listening to the politicians and spewing off on something most of you know nothing about!!!
The TTC and Toronto Community Housing Corporation got the same deal in April and May that we are asking for.
Good day,

I have to agree with everyone here. I would never give up my pet ( I have a mean old fat cat ) for any so called "relationship".
I do have to disagree with Silken Fire though:
Anyone who has a dog knows that they need constant companionship and someone to let them out for "potty breaks". If the OP spent all his time at the girlfriend's place, who would be looking after the poor 8 week old puppy?
The last two men I dated who had a dogs, I ended up spending more time at their places because of the dog......

Internet Dating-A Lifestyle Choice?

I dated a guy for about 6 months last summer ( nothing serious ). However, he kept going on and on, ad nauseum, about all "the eye candy in the POF pond" and how he couldn't stay away.
I finally got fed up and just walked away. Although we became dear friends shortly afterward, I can tell he is now so very tired of the "internet dating game". ..

When to give up...

That's a tough question for many, OP.
I've been on this site, off and on since August 2007. During this time I've been involved in a couple of "relationships".
One, we both remained active here. Probably because we both knew the relationship wasn't going anywhere.
The other, we both put "not looking- seeing someone" on our profiles at about the same time without ever having had "the talk".
For some time now, I've had my profile set to invisible. Not for any reasons. That's just my personal preferance.
I've been dating a wonderful guy fom here since early February and, although his profile is still "somewhat active", I don't let that bother me.
If/when we both decide that things are getting more serious, I'm sure we would both be able to discuss it and make some mutual decisions.

Dating A Widower
Posted:
3/9/2009 6:31:32 PM
I've recently started dating a widower.
He has pics of his wife around his house and you know what?
I see nothing wrong with that at all. Why should he take down his pictures? They are, after all, a huge part of his former life with his now deceased wife.
Those of us who are dating widows/widowers have GOT to remember that their relationships didn't end because they wanted them too. They ended because Death took their spouses fom them.

When does a girl cross the line and become desperate?

"when she is holding onto ur ankles as you walk down the street?"
Harharhar, silverdr !!!! Thats hilarious.
Unfortunately, that is just how needy some women really appear.
I've read forums and posts on here by women asking over and over:
" I called him three times, emailed him 4 times and texted him 5 times...why doesn't he respond???"
The reason he doesn't respond is because this constant contact appears very "desperate".

I totally agree with akimmbo....
I say " on to the meet" as soon as possible.
Regardless of how "good" a picture looks, meeting the person in Real Life will confirm any doubts or questions. A person can look very HOT in a picture but in person can turn out to be a total turn-off just based on their personality, no matter how good looking they were in a pic.

I eventually "woke" up in August 2003 and looked around me...and thought OMG!!!
From that hot August day on, I acquired the needed furniture and household items that finally made my house a "home".

Fear of Flying (not the novel)
Posted:
1/25/2009 6:29:45 PM
Dear OP....
I love to travel and have done so extensively over the past 7 years.
However, I too, have a HUGE fear of flying
Although others may disapprove, may I suggest a "calming " drug?
I get a script for Lorazepam each and every time I have to fly. This drug does not make you woozy or feel all "drugged up". It just takes the 'edge' off your fear of flying.
I used to be a "white knuckle flyer" but since discovering this drug, I am cool, calm and collected on each and every flight.
Speak to your doctor.

If you are a smoker.
Posted:
1/21/2009 7:06:00 PM
I have been a smoker for most of my adult life and make no bones about it.
I tried once, years ago, to quit and it felt like I was truly going through H-ll. My doctor, at the time, said my body was reacting to the nicotine withdrawal ( which can be as bad as withdrawal from heavy drugs such as heroin or cocaine ).
I chose to resume my nasty habit and I don't apologize to anyone for my smoking. I only look to date other smokers and would never consider trying to meet any non-smokers. I don't need the "higher than thou" attitude that non-smokers throw at us "low lifes".
That said, all I can add is that smoking is not just a nasty habit but it is an ADDICTION that cannot be easily stopped. For those that managed to quit, my hat is off to you all. For those of us that haven't been able to quit, all I can say for us all is "get OFF our case!!!"
I will not invade your smokeless world so please don't invade mine!!

What is so important that one has to keep trying to call someone??? If that person has not contacted you/replied to your messages, let them GO....
Easy...peasy.
If someone I had met a few times kept contacting me or leaving me messages daily, damn right I would

It cost me over $ 2500.00 just to get a "legal separation" in 2002 after going through the Hell of distributing the "assets".
I finally filed for the actual Divorce in 2007 ( Thanks, Dad - who died and left me some $$ ) I have no desire to marry again but I feel so much more free since getting the divorce.
Another poster says:
"There is a saying from recovery groups that "hurt people hurt people". It's true. People who are separated need to deal with their past and present before moving toward a future with another person, that includes 'friendships'."

The words at the end of that Beatles song have always held a major place in my heart.
Sent shivers down my spine the first time I heard it and continues to do so years later.
A couple of years ago, I had another profile on this site and I had this exact quote on my profile at that time.
So, yes...I very much do believe in those words and hope that when I die, my family will add them to my eulogy because that is how I have lived my life so far.

ABitMuch....
You said" If weight is an issue with this guy then he should NOT be on a dating site. It wastes everyone's time. Dating sites are still blind dating. "
Sorry, but I don't see your point. This site specifically asks you to list put your body type and encourages everyone to post a full body picture. So, dating sites are not really "blind dating" if the pic is recent and the person posts full body pics.
Everyone has their preferences about who/what body type they like....
I've never been attracted to big/heavy guys....does that mean I should not be on a dating site??

I loved reading all of these posts!!!!
This brings back a bittersweet memory for me. A few years ago I was in love with a man I adored, both physically and mentally.
He always wore his long dark hair in a ponytail ( I've always been a sucker for long haired men ). The first time I spent the night at his place, he took his hair out of the ponytail and was brushing it. I just stared and my heart did little flip flops
When we got into bed, his hair brushed against my cheeks and chest. I was totally hooked!
I still have that picture in my memory..... ***sigh***
