Why do women think that giving hints is all they have to do? Lazy much?
Men should grab a woman and rip her clothes off when he wants to have sex. Women should do the same.
Equal apportunity and all...

So what do you propose?
Make every American give 25% of his/her check to Africa as handouts so those ppl never have to learn to survive on their own?
They need to rise up against their corrupt governments first, and then the aid might actually go towards solving the problem instead of just being a long term bandaid.

try reading something NOT from Fox news.
Why do you ignorantly assume I like Fox news, because I don't suck the****of the liberal media like you do? Shawn Hannity & Keith Oberman are the same moron as far as I'm concerned.
I dislike all editorial news, it's a waste of my time.
I watch C-Span regularly, and I watch the political posturing during the hearings. So I get my fill of actual testimony.
As I said, military leaders were ignored. And intelligence officials lied as well as politicians.
I want McCain, because I want this problem solved. If you think Obama can do anything other than make the situation over there worse, I think you're wrong.
I've followed this issue as much as possible, watching all forms of news I could tolerate, reading whatver was on the net that seemed not to be filled with bile from left or right wing nutcases.
Don't assume because I don't agree with you I'm a Fox News lover. That's ignorant.
I would not be in love with Fox News if I watched this documantary and said it was the closest to the truth I have ever seen, now would I?
I think when Clinton was forced to deal with kosovo, he did so, IF you really care to know the truth you would go read on the Congressional website where Clinton tried to go into afghanistan to kill Bin Laden and the republicans wouldn't let him.. what was that you were saying about ball less?????
Give me a link and I'll read it.

so the rediculous rhetoric of they had them in the past doesn't hold water.
Then why did so many Democrats vote for the war?
Why after the 06 congressional elections did the Democrats not cut off funding for the war like they promised to do so? You were lied to?
And if Obama gets elected and does not start bringing troops home after 60 days because now he sees the big picture as commander & chief, what then?
Will you cry some more?
We are already making deals with Iraq to keep 50,000 troops there for 25 years. Will the Democrats have the balls to renig on that deal?
Why do the people you elect have no balls?
I see a lot of whinng from that side of the isle, but no solutions, and certainly no action...
and how much time are YOU willing to spend in Iraq?
If my country needed me in that capacity, I would do so. We have a volunteer military. If there comes a day where we don't have enough, I'd have no problem signing up, eventhough I'm too old to join.
If there are people who are in the military, and don't want to be in war, why the hell did they sign up? For free college money? Maybe they didn't make a very good life decision?
Maybe if parents were required to sign off on their childs military service until they were age 21 things would be different?
Maybe 16 year olds truly don't understand what that signature means.

and there are alot more of us than there are YOU.
I agree, most ppl are ignorant and don’t get the big picture.
I was lied to? Of course. All politicians lie...
WMD was the focus, it ended up being propaganda, at the time it was all the rage, and the CIA said it was true. You had the knowledge at the time to refute the CIA? Why didn't you use that knowledge?
All I knew for sure at the time was had Iraq used chemical weapons in the past. For me personally, WMD was not the strongest case for war. A permanent foot in the door of the ME and a free Iraq with some form of Democracy was the big picture, and still is.
The war cannot end until that is accomplished. If we leave now, we will have to do this all over again at some point in the future. Time to suck it up and do what is right and not turn tail & run like all the coward Democrats want.
10 years of UN weapons inspections and 8 years of an ignorant Clinton administration didn't prove anything one way or the other as far as WMD, Saddam was resisting every step of the way and the UN & Clinton did nothing.
If Clinton had done his job properly, he would have left no door open for Bush to walk through. If you're telling me that you and all the Dems knew for sure he did not have WMD, then maybe you should have tried a bit harder to not allow the administration to trick you into a war? If you (liberals) were so all knowing at that time, would not the vastly left wing leaning media been harping on that? No, they were trying to make money, and WMD was ratings.
I'm sorry, but the Dems plan to ignore terrorism and hope it goes away is fantasy at best.
Yes we were lied to, yes war sucks. What are you going to do, cry about it, or solve the damn problem?
If you're solution is to walk away from a tough situation, then I will disagree with you on that, forever, no matter what the issue is.

Bush's war.... was on PBS
Posted:

there is NO Long term goal which is only part of the problem here
I never had a problem understanding the long term goals...
1) Oil, we need it. Having an ally in the region we are friendly with is much better than not having one. It’s a fight between the US and China for oil in the next few decades, and if Americans keep buying Chinese Wal-Mart products day after day, China will easily be able to out buy the US for oil.
2) Saudi Arabia is a luke-warm at best ally against terrorism. A semi-democratic Iraq is a far better option.
3) Military base in the region for decades to come. This is always present after nation building. It gives us a better response in the region, and is more of a deterrent to ME nations allowing terrorist groups to train in their countries.
4) Sadly, freeing a people from a tyrant is last on the list. Even though it’s important and a noble goal, it was not the primary objective.
All Americans should have plainly seen these goals as apparent from the beggining. I'm amazed at how many don't get it... I'm also amazed at how this simply flew over the media's heads. It shows how ignorant & moblike the American people are.
I’m not saying all this will happen. I’m saying this was my mindset for war, not WMD or terrorist links to Iraq. I’m sorry if many Democrats believed that propaganda from the outset. After all, a majority voted for the war, without even looking at the NIE. Why were all of them so stupid? Why didn't all of them read the NIE and challenge what was in it? They let Bush go to war, without even looking for information to try and stop him. Why do you have so much faith in ppl like that?
The (conventional) war went great, it only lasted 3 weeks. Rumsfeld’s light footprint made a good debut against another countries army, it made quick work of it. The problems appear to be, Cheney & Rumsfeld were under the false impression the Iraqi's knew what to do with freedom, something they have never really had. The military commanders knew post war was going to be much more difficult than the actual war, but no one seemed to want to listen to the ppl with experience. It's the whole American hear what we only want to hear syndrome.
Obama may have voted against the war, but he’s certainly not someone I would ever vote for. I disagree with him on most every issue fundamentally, and his one vote is hardly making the case for him IMO… I’m not a socialist, never will be. If Democrats continue to insist on taking my money and giving it to those who do not deserve it, I will likely never vote for one…

How would you solve the problem?
IMO, any kind of humanitarian aid to these places is only temporary. If those ppl can't take care of themselves, they will never be able to do so, no matter how much assistance we give them...

MCCAIN< if you have paid attention wants to continue this war. He wants to give More tax breaks to the corporations, and that came straight out of HIS mouht, McCain has sold out to the same republican loseras that got us into this mess for their own personal greed.
I have no problem with the long term goals of the war. We are in it, we have to finish it properly.
As I see it, McCain is the only one willing to do that.
Bush's biggest problem is he let Cheney & Rumsfeld run the war. They are civilians, they should not have dismissed all the generals telling them they needed 400,000 troops for post-war Iraq.
The entire US government is to blame for getting into this war on weak intelligence. And our vaunted media didn't do a damn thing but try to get ratings during the whole process.
I can see you're a conservative hating liberal, that's ok, you have a right to your opinions. But you don't need to spin or sensationalize anything for me, you won't be changing my mind...
What were all the politicians doing during this time? What was the media doing?
$$$$ talks, I guess we know that it's more important than anything right? Everyone was looking out for their own behinds, including your precious Democrats, so spare me the crap. This was not one party or the other failing, it was the entire governments fault.
They are all assholes for not doing the job they were elected to do, and the media didn't help the issue.
Oh, and PBS is hardly un-biased... Nothing is un-biased, sorry to say. Even publicly funded documentaries...
I will say, it's the best piece of media have seen on this issue however. You can't get that kind of information from any other news outlet without some kind of overly biased editorializing to go along with it.
This is a thread about the actual film, don't turn it into the war debate, there are tons of threads for that...
Obama voted against the war BTW.
And?

I see a lot of people making a big hoopla about "bad loans that never should have been made," and then I see these same people making a big hoopla about "people being forced from their homes." Don't you understand that if that bad loan never should have been made, that means those borrowers never should have been able to buy that house to begin with?
Americans need to learn we can't have things we can't afford.
This will be a good lesson for the plastic wielding ignorant people out there who can't budget.
I agree about correction, and McCain is the only one willing to let the market correct itself, both Hillary & Obama would raise my taxes to bail out the idiots who spent money they were never going to have. No thanks.
It's time for more personal responsibility in this country, not less...

I'm not liberal by any means, and voted for Bush twice, and will vote for McCain.
I just watched this last night. It's too bad the good guys like Colin Powell lose, and the bastards like Cheney & Rumsfeld win.
I know he won’t do it, but I hope Powell will run with McCain, and they can fix this war that Rumsfeld so badly mismanaged.
I'm also angered at how much of a jerk Gorge Tenant was. The CIA is a joke these days!
Also, the NIE was there for all of congress to view b4 they voted on the war. All of congress failed! Democrats & Republicans alike, most of them did not even read that document that had bogus info in it.
What the hell do these congressmen we elect to all f'ing day? Certainly not their damn jobs!
As a Republican, I know that that story is about as un-bias as you can get these days. It still leans left IMO, but it's about as much of the truth as the public may ever get...
I'm sure there is still a lot we do not know...

Most people were not born with silver spoons in their mouths.
That's not a requirement. Hard work is they way to a good career, not rich parents.
In fact, usually those born with that silver spoon are not very hard workers.
Not everyone can have a good career, just saying I prefer women who do.

Never be a sperm donor unless you go through an official clinic!!! Becasue if you don't, you will be responsible for child support payments!!! And it does not matter if you sign an agreement. It will be overthrown in court after which you will be forking out cash for the next 18 years.

Sans. Men are great as pro-creators but suck at knowing what a healthy relationship regarding a "lifetime" entails
Men are sex/fighting machines.
We were not built for this long term relationship stuff...
We're meant to fight for a womans affection, plant seeds and then move on.

Shoes for the kids, ha-ha... That's funny.
More like a 100th pair of shoes for her, along with $100 manicures, $70 hairdressing visits, etc.
Men do it to with their toys. But women are more materialistic in my experience, and quicker to call the lawyers in when they don't get what they want.

"If the husband is working, budgeting and paying the bills naturally falls to the woman because she has more time to screw with it and she usually knows what the household needs while the husband does not."
Exactly, it does fall mostly to the women. And many of them do a poor job of it. And when the man wants them to spend less, she is on the phone with a divorce lawyer.
Not saying this is how all marriages are, but I have 4 guys here at work who have been divorced. All of them got divorced because when they tried to get their homemaking housewives to not spend so much on unneeded items, they flipped out and filed for divorce. It seems to be a common theme...
Many women must get what they want materialistically or they are unhappy. And many of them want to frivolously spend the money their husbands earn. It's been a constant battle for how long now? It has to be one of the main reasons divorces occur.
"Formal Education does not neccessarily equate better ability to manage spending habits/budgets."
I never said it was an automatic gurantee.
And yes, many Americans on the whole, whether they work at Wal-Mart or on Wall Street are way to easy going with the plastic...

"Zipp; And that place would be enjoying the same EQUAL rights & respect alongside Men!!"
Women have more rights than men these days, especially when it comes to the judicial system.
You still get paid less. But that's because on ave, women take more days off of work than men, less reliable on average do to "women issues" as well as the potential of maternity leave...
I'm sure even women CEO's who see the big picture & worry about the bottom line see this...
Women have more rights & choices these days. But I think both men & women have harder lives these days. Especially men. We get attacked from all angles these days, and have a lot more stress to deal with than men of the 50's. Women have more stress too mind you.
My dad was a 20-something in the 50's, he's always telling me he had it way better than me, especially in the women & marriage department, as well as the availability of jobs. A lot less stress back in those days.

No, but there are many men out there with careers supporting women who can't budget. I'm sure there are also many housewives or homemakers out there who can budget better than the bread winning husbands... However, I'd still prefer someone with a collegiate education as a minimum.
I simply stated I don't want to be in that situation. That's why I'd prefer a career woman. Someone who went to university, and has a career other than Wal-Mart or waiting tables, etc.
Just my preference.

"This sounds more like a sugar-daddy or immature pampered princess situation. "
Not really. Just women who held jobs at grocery stores & whatnot until marriage in mid 20's, and now in their 40's with kids, and have not had to work a job except being a housewife since then. Being a housewife is hard work, but unless you learned how to budget from your parents (what teenager listens to their parents about budgeting?), most housewives don't want to hear it from their husbands concerning budgeting.
Certainly not a sugar daddy situation. Just women ignorant about spending & budgeting.
I'm sure there are women out there who have dead beat men doing this to them, but I gather there are still a lot more stay at home mom's than dad's these days.

"I think what many women posters are refusing to see about the OP's position, is that he knows that great women are hard to find.
Women express this concern about Men all the time. Now men are starting to realize and express it about women."
So true.
I'm in a similar boat as the OP, but my SO knows the situation, and we're still together in a FWB type of situation, and she has a profile here too, she is the one who got me hooked on these damn forums.
We've have been together for 4 years. Her looks don't repel me, not at all. However, they don't give me butterflies either.
It's a tough situation, as she is a great person, very caring, probably the best friend I could ever have. It's just that I can't say that I'm madly in love with her, like you're "supposed" to be with the person you marry.
But OP, you seriously need to tell your GF the situation b4 you do anything. Luckily, my SO and I are 100% honest with each other, and we're content with the situation as it stands right now. We don't know the future, but we are content.

Men are still quite expected to fill that very same role as ever, at any cost, and they’re viewed every bit as strange now as they were back then for not filling that role."
So true.

"Do you STILL get the fact that you can have 2 White people from totally different CULTURES?"
Of course I get that fact.
"There you go again. Colour does not equal culture" - I never said that!
But for me to find a Black woman that is from Polish/German heritage that has similar values, likes & dislikes, grew up in a similar family environment is a lot harder than finding a white one, it's that simple.
Even if a Black woman were to have grown up in my neighborhood, chances are, we would still have had many cultural differences, which leads to incompatability issues in a relationship, unless you were both looking to expand your horizons. Most ppl stick to what they know, they don't expand their cultural base throughout life. That's not racism. A very small percentage of ppl worldwide cross that cultural barrier. And it just happens to coincide with skin color, as that's a derivative of culture. (not even taking religion into account, which is the main factor most ppl do not cross the cultural divide when looking for a life partner)
How am I sugar coating anything? I'm saying I don't have a problem with a checkbox...
We simply disagree that it racism. I don't think it is, you do...
You won't really change my mind, and I don't care to change yours tbfh...
If there was a black woman out there who shared the same interests, shared the same views religiously, culturally, politically, etc. Skin color would not be an obstacle for me...
We all know it's hard enough to find someone you're compatible with from your own culture, let alone find someone with heritage from a different culture, that is similar to you... I'm sure some have done it, but it sounds like the odds are certainly not in your favor.
Lets not pretend that Black American culture & White American culture are able to produce ppl who can intermingle seamlessly in interracial relationships. That's not the norm.
Yes, there are whites who" act" black, and blacks who "act" white. But that is not the majority of America. Canada may be different, I don't know.
You can't force the mingling, you have to let time bridge that gap. So saying ppl of different cultures who refuse to cross that barrier are racist is a bit much IMO... It's a preference, and there is nothing wrong with it.
It time, we will all be one race, but for now, just deal with the fact some ppl don't want to date out of their culture/race.

"I know of NO woman who has never had to work."
I'm talking a career, not Wal-Mart, etc...
I know plenty from first hand experience (in my family) that have never had to work to support a family, and spend way too much as they have no concept of what it takes to earn that money.
Yes, there are many hard working single moms and whatnot out there. Those are not the ppl I'm talking about.

^^In any event.
I'm fine with the checkbox.
Doesn't bother me one way or the other. Even if it means someone is "shunning" me for being white... It's their choice. There are other fish in the sea...

I would prefer to end up marrying a woman with a full time job, a career. I'd like a woman you knows the value of the dollar and knows what kind of work it takes to earn them.
Many stay at home housewives who went from mommy & daddy's house to yours who never really had to work have no concept of money, and what's a reasonable ammount to spend.
Some guys can live with that, me, no thanks...

"This is perhaps the most original disguise of racism seen scince the Democratic Party in the US cornered the minority vote by offering free abortions."
Well, that's your opinion, not mine.
If I liked a black woman, brought her home to my family, and she did not feel like she fit in and wanted to no longer date me. I would not consider that racism...
Why should she put herself in a situation that is uncomfortable? Just so ppl like you are happy? That doesn't make any sense. She's looking out for her own happiness, not yours, or anyone elses.
After a few of those experiences, she may no longer want to try dating white men...
"Note the use of the word 'actually' giving people of mixed race a particularly'special' place in the heart of the speaker."
It means I generally find them more physically attractive than the women of my own race.

"Not true in my case. I want to see more first and foremost to see what there hiding.."
Exactly. If a woman has no pictures, or really blurry crappy ones that don't show much. I want to see better & more pictures before I spend the time chatting with her.
I need to know if I'm attracted to her...
Women expect nice clear pictures of men, most of you STATE that in your profile, no pics, no email. You're more direct about it than we are!

Men that get butterflies

Sadly, I don't get butterflies with the woman I am best friends with. We dated for 2.5 years, have been in a FWB thing for 1.5 years.
She never made me feel those butterflies.
Other women I have been near have done that to me though, but I've never dated one that made me feel that way... I really want that.

I had to go work out and my daughter had a swimming class so I told him ... he said fine I'll come along.. it was nice... but c'mon how many will be willing to do so??... "
If I was really into the woman, I'd do it...
I had a meet up at the GYM one time as well. Didn't work out, but our date consisted of 30 minutes on an elliptical chatting, lol.

"Each individual has a right to his or her prejudices. No one is going to try to take them away from you. You can keep them. At least have the courage to admit to and own your own prejudices instead of trying to disguise them and pass them off as something else. It really isn't fooling anyone"
Fooling?
I happen to like East Indian women a lot. I'm really attracted to darker skin tones. I actually find myself attracted women of mixed race more than any other...
However, finding someone from a different culture that shares my views on the world is a lot harder than finding a white woman who does. And we all know dating is a numbers game. The odds are are with your own culture for most ppl. Most ppl do not look to expand their horizons when dating, only a small percentage look to do that.
I'm not a religious person, and I also don't want to be with someone who is heavily religious, and pushes it in my face all the time. Hence, most other websites have a checkbox for religion too.
This topic is about a checkbox, which most other dating websites have. The checkbox is for preference.
If an East Indian women I find really attractive won't let me contact her because she has the white box unchecked, that's her choice. I'd be disappointed, but I sure as hell would not be calling it racism. It would be absurd to do so.
Same as how most Canadian women here only want to date men from Canada (even though I only live 10 minutes form the border). It sucks that I can't email them, but that's their choice. Are they being racist against Americans? LOL

"Oh please, don't even try to pull that cultural differences garbage. No it's not about cultural differences. It is about racial prejudice and discrimination on the basis of race and skin colour PERIOD!!! "
Uhm, no it's not?
Beides, who are you to tell me what I'm supposed to like & dislike?
Get an f'ing clue will ya?
I wish ppl could grow some nads and stop pulling the race card out all the time when they want to whine.
Cry wolf some more...
The more that card is pulled for stupid sh!t like this, the less ppl care when real racism occurs.

"i don't know you personally, but that seemed like a racist ass statement to me. i would have something to say about that if i was white. i know plenty of people (ethnic) and they loathe white america. and i don't associate with them in my freetime. shutting someone out because of physical characteristics just isn't a good thing. regardless of preference."
Huh? Women do that all the time, just ask short guys! Doesn't matter what color they are, women discriminate against them every day!
Anyways, it's not just skin color, its cultural differences for the most part.
I can see beauty in all women, of many different colors & cultures. Does not mean I'd want to date them...
I'm sure there are tons of black, asian, etc women out there who wouold not want to date me because I'm white, and my heratige is vastly different than theirs. Doesn't bother me in the least... I don't consider that racist.
They are free to choose.
Many sites have the race/religion restriction checkbox, I see no problem with it.

Oh, I'll slow dance...
But you won't see me doing anything other than that...
I just don't like it. Kinda like how some women don't like performing oral. No need to force them to.
