Seriously where are all the guys that should be signing up to go?
ummmmmmm opening day for firearms deer season is the 15th and may be one of the reasons that some of us won't be there. I'll be in my pop-up camper, in my sleeping bag, completely sober and all alone by 10pm.
It's not easy to go out the night before you are getting up @ 4am........ I know this first hand!!!

Could bar code in this case could be a considered a double entendre due to the topic and venue??
There was a guy at the hunting camp for the opening of firearm season that had a bar code tattooed on the back of his head. Seemed kind of silly to me but to each their own.

I was thinking about driving to my hunting area since bow hunting season starts next week to do some more pre season deer scouting on Saturday. I may make one of my semi annual appearances at a POF party to do some local dear scouting instead. Is camouflage clothing acceptable attire at this venue?
I won't even need to use my GPS to find this place.

Why?
Posted:
7/31/2009 9:22:28 AM
One of the biggest problems is that too many people can't seem to accept that others have different preferences, objectives, agendas and/or reasons for being here. While we may not understand or agree with a persons reason for being here or their preferences we should respect their rights and choices. We also need to realize that just because someone may appear to have to qualities we are looking for and meet our preferences that we don't qualify as a possible match for them. We all expect our preferences to be respected, we need to extend that same respect to others.
Is it wrong for a person to lie, deceive, misrepresent or use others to achieve what they want? Absolutely it's wrong, but it's our responsibility to protect ourselves from people who do those things, many of whom have perfected the art of disguising a lie as the truth. Even the liars will want someone who is honest, they don't want to be beat at their own game and get used by someone else.
I have been used in the past like many others. I don't place the blame on the person who used me though, I place the blame on myself for allowing it happen.

Things you just can't compromise on......
Posted:

So they settle.. and look over your shoulder for the "Bigger Better Deal"..
Debi if this where a gender specific issue I would be one very happy man. But the fact is women do the same thing. They are all users, whether it's about money, sex, a place to live or any other type of agenda they want or need to satisfied. These users come in every shape, size and social economic back ground and many have honed their skill, the skill of deception that allows them to be proficient con artists. They know what to say, how to act and treat a person to get what they want. The internet is a vehicle many of them use but it isn't the only method they employ.
When someone you don't know tells you that you are perfect believe them. You are perfect at being yourself, something they haven't taken the time to learn about.

Well....I guess I can live without the drool stuff.....But,Im just saying...... The whole intimate act of love making without french kissing and lip nibbling.???? Not something I can do without.
Oh Yeah....And I cant compromise on dating a smoker. I guess that might go hand in hand with the french kissing thang. Nothing worse than a bad tasting tounge !!!
The comment about drool wasn't serious.
None of what I said was directed at you, I was merely living up to my name.
As for not wanting to date a smoker I can understand that and I don't blame you in the least. As far as nothing worse than a bad tasting tongue, that is a matter of opinion and I could get graphic and/or gross with an example but I won't, I'm sure if you use your imagination you can figure it out though!!!!

I cant compromise on the whole kissing, showing affection thang. I gotta have the wet kisses s with tounge action. I cannot handle the "grampa " closed mouth kissing stuff and have had to give up a otherwise good relationship because of it. I may be older...But, Im not that old !!!
I didn't think women liked it when I drool when using my tongue while kissing!!!!!! Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for me after all!!!!!!!!

I believe that GMGMQ.PK is the symbol for the old GM being traded OTC after being delisted on the NYSE. GMGMQ.MX is GM Mexico.
I don't think they can issue stock for the new GM, though an IPO, until they emerge from bankruptcy and a new company is actually formed. I sure as hell wouldn't buy it right now, GMCMQ shares are likely to go worthless before this mess is settled in the courts. Stock holders shares in a company that files for bankruptcy protection are normally erased.

Money
Posted:
5/31/2009 12:53:01 PM
I think there are three types of people who can truly say that money doesn't matter. Those that have more than they could possibly spend in a lifetime, those who don't worry about paying their bills because they have none and those who choose to live off the land outside of main stream society. For everyone else money does matter whether they want to admit it or not.
Personally I don't care if a person makes 20K or 100K a year, income doesn't tell me anything about the character of the person. What I do care about is how responsible an individual is financially which will indicate more about a persons character than the AGI on a tax return.

Weird things you have seen on profiles
Posted:
5/26/2009 6:18:55 AM
Hmm,,ive honestly not seen anything that i would construe as 'weird' in anyones profile, besides the obvious cam pictures of themselves that dont even remotely resemble the person in 'real life'.
There are people who are just not photogenic, in both good and bad ways, so it really doesn't bother me when a photo isn't reflective of how they actually look. While the forums may be a better indicator of what a person is like there are people who can use words to pull the wool over the eyes of others and doesn't remotely resemble what they are like in person. In the end it's all like one big crap shoot and profiles, forums, pictures and emails may or may not show you what a person is like. Only time will verify or discredit our initial thoughts and reveal the truth about others.
I rememeber seeing certain people at a couple POF parties and thinking,,,,Woahhhh THATS who that is???? Hmm,,wonder if they thought the same about mine!!
You were easily recognizable Rip when we met, not just from your pictures but the personality you have demonstrated on the forums. But I'm just an opinionated, ugly and ignorant old guy who doesn't know crap so some people may not care about what I think and believe me!!!

Do women always assume you are hitting on them when you speak to them?
Posted:

Any woman, or man, that assumes that just because someone talks to them they are being hit on has an over inflated ego or perhaps think that everyone else is like them. Maybe they are the ones who are hitting on everyone that they feel are WORTHY of conversing with.
Oh yeah, I have got the silent treatment. Whats even worse is when you attempt to join a group of people and get the silent treatment from the whole group. I have had that happen to me too.
Some cliques are like that, most aren't though. I've been to a couple of POF parties and I've noticed that there are cliques though there are those that deny they exist. But there is nothing wrong with cliques, after all they are just group of people who enjoy each others company. If the people in a given group only talk to people approved of by the entire clique they need to grow up. They have let their collective ego's destroy their own individuality. What these types of cliques see as strength in numbers actually shows a weakness in the ability to be independent.
"Hi my name is Jane/John. Nice group, huh? Oh and btw, im not hitting on you,,just being friendly!".
I didn't think Rip was listening to me when I said that to her because she kept hitting on me!!!!!

Loose translation............I'm not going to set myself up for rejection just because I'm interested in a man. That's his job because he should have more experience at being rejected!!

I think this sentence is funny. How do you get unanswered emails? Do you send them back to yourself???? There are some things that are a joke without the originator knowing the entertainment they have provided.
Some people wouldn't know an obvious grammatical error if they saw one let alone if they made one.

I wonder if she will think she ran out of ink or the paste she uses when she sends email.

If your feelings get just hurt because someone doesn't answer an email go look in a mirror to see who really has a problem instead of calling a person you don't know rude and inconsiderate.
HOW RU LETS CHAT LAURIE I L IVE IN ROCH HILLS
That's the total extent of an email I got last week. I sure as heck don't feel I'm being rude or inconsiderate for not responding to someone who put so little effort into contacting me.

How many freaking pity threads need to be started to complain about people who don't answer every email they get?????? Do people think so highly of themselves that their self esteem is damaged when someone doesn't respond?
If your ego is so easily bruised maybe you shouldn't send out emails. Just because you send someone an email it doesn't mean they OWE you one back and it sure doesn't mean they are rude or inconsiderate. To assume such things about someone you don't know is rude in my opinion. Personally, my self esteem isn't so fragile that it bothers me when someone doesn't respond to one I've sent. That's right, as hard it is to believe, there are women who haven't responded an email I've sent. Even as great as I am I don't get upset, assume anything about them or call those f**king b**ches names!!!!!!!!
For those who don't get it let me explain something to you. If someone doesn't respond it means they aren't interested. Do you really need a person to respond for you to understand they aren't interested? For those who think "It's polite and only takes a few seconds to respond to every email" why don't you take the restrictions off your profile? Let everyone send you an email since all you have to do is respond and say "I'm not interested". OH wait........I forgot. People should accept and respect your preferences even when you don't accept or respect their preference not to respond to every email.

Posted:

Hey rip your problem isn't that you live too far away from guys. You just need to lower your standards. If you said on your profile that you liked guys who live with their parents, drink daily, smoke herb and don't have a car then distance wouldn't be such an issue. Even the ones who have a job would probably quit and relocate if you offered them a new place to live free of charge.

It seems to me that regardless of how tall the guy is, if he is wearing heels there is a good chance he wouldn't be interested in dating women at all.
Then again I could be wrong since I don't wear heels and you never know why people do some things these days!!!!

OT .......what are women thinking?
The first verse of one of Billy Currington's songs kind of says it all.......
A woman is mystery
A man just can't understand
Sometimes all it takes to please her
Is the touch of your hand
And other times you gotta take it slow
And hold her all night long
Heaven knows there's so many ways
A man can go wrong

Howie I think you are exactly right and I wish more people could have seen what the real problem was. On my profile I have the following,
Only an idiot will continue to argue with another idiot. The one who gets the last word in only proves they are the more persistent of the two, not the most intelligent. Its better to walk away from an idiot and let them think they have won because they aren't smart enough to know that they haven't.
I wish that people didn't get joy out of seeing bad things happen to others.
I don't feel sorry for people who cause their own problems but I don't get any joy out of it, even if I don't like them.

It turned out he was boinking the secretary in our department which his wife really didn't approve of!!!!! After I found out I wanted to ask him if that "unwritten rule" was a corporate thing or just for our department in order to protect his own interest.

We all face issues in our lives, but issues and baggage aren't the same thing. Issues themselves don't cause baggage, a persons inability or desire to resolve issues causes baggage. If you can't leave the past behind and move forward then some those issues will never be resolved so you're going to need a luggage rack for all your baggage.
That's just not the kind of rack I want a woman in my life to have!!!!!

To be honest, i dont think ive ever invited anyone to meet my family for the sole purpose of 'well its time to meet the family'. Its more like,,,'Hey come with me to my cousins house! They are throwing a Mexican themed dinner party! It'll be fun!',,or something like that. lol
I think whats more important than actually meeting a persons family is knowing or having a gut feeling about the person who invited you. I've known Rip for quite some time on here and I wouldn't hesitate to meet her family even as a friend. If her family is anything like her it would be a lot of fun. There are other people I've known on here for the same amount of time that I wouldn't consider meeting their family even if they paid me!!!!
I do have to say I wouldn't go unless Rip let me drive though!!!!!!

John , I was not venting about the rules themselfs but the way there unevenly aplyed , and thats all I am gonna say , never intended to write a book about it.
You are not on my short list , and I am not one to turn people in myself , if something bothers me , I speak to thouse who said it.
There are times when the rules aren't going seem unfair or that they are being applied to people differently. Since I don't have all the information it would be unfair of me to criticize any punishments that have been imposed. But it might be that when two people are breaking the same rule at the same time one person has had prior warnings and/or offenses so their punishment is harsher. It happens all the time in the court system. If a person commits the same crime several times, or commits several different crimes, the sentence imposed may, and should in my opinion, reflect other factors besides the crime itself.
As for me not being on your short list, I don't worry about any list (good or bad) that I'm placed on. I mean what I say and I say what I mean. It's probably a good thing for some people that I'm not a moderator on this site. It might be a good thing for others though, I would be stopping some things before they get out of control which would eliminate a lot of collateral damage. There are times when people need to be protected from hurting themselves.
It's kind of like Ron White's when he talks about getting arrested while he was drunk. "I had the right to remain silent...........I just didn't have the ability at the time!!"
