Well I think its not only finding the right one...but once you DO finally think you have found the right one...does he want you too? GOOD LORD..its all so complicated and the older I get..the worse it gets!! I know what I need to do within myself...I need to let my guard down. However, every SINGLE time I let my guard down for someone, they give me a million reasons to never let it down again! Sometimes I think I am seriously healthier and better off on my own! Sorry to be a downer...its the Valentine's thing, and the weather.. But thanks for listenin' fishies!!

I am single, because I am a bit guarded about letting down the trust barrier.... and I choose to isolate myself a lot of times for a few different reasons. These are not good things, and I am really attempting to change my behavior. Old habits are extremely hard to break. It is a constant challenge, and I often end up on the losing end, but I know in my heart that I will some day be able to walk away from my fears for a new experience. I strongly agree with what Jackie says. I think it is really really hard to find what you are looking for., and then when you do finally find it, there is the issue of that person wanting you as well... My best outlook is to believe in myself, and know that if I meant to be with someone, I will be. Worse case scenario? I end up alone....but you know what? That is OK with me too. Am I able to compromise? Yes. I will do almost anything for someone I really really love to make them happy. Finding a person I am willing to do that for is the problem. Whew that was deep! I need a drink!! LOL

See...this is why I really would never want to marry again. If I am truly in love with someone, I would live with them for a LONG time before even considering marriage. I guess its because I have worked really hard since my divorce for my stuff, and I do not want anyone to be able to take it away from me....is that a bad attitude?

Single Male.. What a GREAT post! I agree with the entire thing 110%!!! ESPECIALLY THIS PART: "If you are in love then there are no standards..no expectations...only the desire to please another"... I think that sums it up right there... If you strip away all of the other CRAP that gives you doubt....and really examine your feelings...that says it ALL! Once again..great! Now you guys are catching on and I love it!

OK OK... What I meant by starting this thread was to state how it FEELS when you are truly in love with someone. These are not expectations, or qualities I am seeking. This is how I feel when I love someone. My objective was to see if anyone else has felt this way now or in the past and if it is what real true love is all about.....everyone is different, and I am just trying to get a concensus of how YOU feel when you really love someone. What are the emotions that you feel when you are truly in love?? Whether it be now, in the past, or what you hope to feel in the future for someone special....

Deb, Most women in their mid to late thirties have a war story about being in an abusive relationship...whether it be mental, physical, or both. I am no exception... however, I am choosing not to go there. It does not put the focus on the task at hand, which is offering you my advice on how to get over someone you love. So...Here is my advice: Upon realizing this person is not for you and there is no chance of reconciliation (Which is YOUR decision to make...not any one else's): Buy a journal. Sometimes it helps to get the feelings out and on paper, rather than giving the person that hurt you the priveledge of knowing how you feel. I am a very expressive person. It is very hard for me to hide how I really feel. This helps as an outlet for that. Instead of drunk dialing, or calling him upset, try this. It really does make a HUGE difference, or at least for me... Do something for you. Plan a trip to Cali to see your friends. Go to the outlet mall with your girlfriends, what ever you need to do to have something to look forward to, to help get your mind off of your pain. Find some new activites that you really like and re-invent history! This way you will have something new to think about. I mean it. Go to Bingo, go to the flea market, buy a new book, rent a funny movie (stay away from Romantic Comedies).... Create a play list with some really rocking, uplifting stuff on it. NO LOVE SONGS., and listen to it when you find yourself thinking about calling, writing, seeing this person. Some of my personal favorites that are not twangy are: Mary Chapin Carpenter: Almost Home Nora Roberts: The long day is over If you like twangy: Rhonda Vincent: I'm Movin On Martina McBride: Wrong Again In fact, I would be MORE than happy to make you a CD. Just say the word, my girl! Stay away from situations/places that remind you of this person. This is hard, I know, but it helps to get some distance from the whole situation and helps you to clear your mind and remember that things were not so bad before this person came along. I am not a religious person, but pick up a Bible. I am serious. It really helps get you through the bad things life has to offer. I hope this helps.....Love ya!

With Valentine's Day coming up...I have been thinking about what it means to really LOVE someone...and here is what I came up with.. 1. After spending several days with them, you miss them the second they walk out the door. 2. You feel sad if you do not talk to them every day. 3. When they are hurting, you hurt just as much. 4. You know all of the gross stuff about them, but you still love them 5. You can't imagine your life without this person. 6. You get very sad when they are mad at you. 7. You can not stay mad at them. 8. If they need something, you try to get it for them 9. You do stuff you normally hate (chores) to help them 10. You trust them with your life 11. You can see yourself growing old with them Any Additions??

I have this to say... I am happy with myself. No, I am not perfect, but I feel I am a decent person, a great friend, a superb mother, and much more. I have to be true to myself and what I believe, and if that scares someone away, then he was not worth having to begin with. I will never again alter myself in order to please someone else. I did that for the 7 horrible years that was my marriage. ... I know it sounds bitter, but it took me a LONG time to realize that I can not spend the rest of my life trying to please everyone else. I finally love myself. If someone comes along that appreciates me for me, I will be absolutely thrilled. If that person does not come along, I am more than happy to be alone. I would not settle for anything less....

I am definitely NOT a winter person. I get very depressed...I get very aggravated with everyone and everything.. Some day, when I retire, I am going somewhere where is stays relatively warm & sunny all year round! I also find I am twice as lethargic during the winter months. I just want to stay warm, under my covers and hibernate!! I am a generally happy, optimistic person, so I KNOW this has to do with the seasons. Even when things do not go my way in the summer, I still bounce right back. Everything just seems to linger in the winter...the cold, the darkness, it generally sucks all around in my opinion!!!

Here is my take on it...I hope it is helpful... My personal experience has been that some men have a hard time with confrontation. It could be that he just "was not that into you" anymore, and instead of stepping up to the plate and telling you that, he took the weasel way out. This is common...unfortunately... He did not want to deal with the fact that he was hurting you face to face, so he slimed his way out of it...instead of making it uncomfortable for himself and facing up. It sounds to me like the reason he updated his profile and was trolling for women is because he was insecure, and wanted to find someone else before he let you go...or stopped calling... Either way, you are better off. Consider it a learning experience.. and yes...I also believe in Karma. It will bite him one of these days. I wish you well, darlin! Anna

OK... I will make one quick comment about Lucky's. The bartenders are LESS than responsive most of the time...they act like they are doing you a f a v o r by getting you a drink.... Maybe we should do a thing like the Stolys/S&S Friday thing? Go to Luckys for pool and then move it to the Jade for Karaoke..since we all end up there anyway..lol Just my 2 cents...take it for what it worth...

well,, I did calculate correctly, however, I agree that i am not a 2. If i had to pick which most closely resembles myself, it would be... # 4 - THE CONSERVATIVE 4's are sensible and traditional.
