Aww ... T, thanks for organizing an event for those of us who live on this side of town.
I haven't been to the Witch since the renos & would love to see the changes, but I've organized our annual work dinner for that weekend. Hope everyone has an awesome time; will maybe catch ya on the next one. In the meantime, I can be found chasing after karaoke mics.

The MARCH HARE at the BIG B MISSION FRIDAY MARCH 5th 2010
Posted: 3/2/2010 8:45:18 PM
WHITETIGERESS: You're not talking about Helen & I, are ya? Thought she was planning our get-together for a couple of weeks from now. Hmm ...

I went to the Big B with a certain someone 2 weekends ago to see March Hare but apparently both of us dingbats misread the date 'cause the place was dead so we hit up a couple of other pubs instead.

Pets First, Relationship Second In Doling Out The Love?
Posted: 3/1/2010 1:21:30 PM
After having begged for a cat or dog for 10 years, my youngest son & I moved into a pet-friendly complex last year & my son immediately adopted a cat. I dated a guy for a short time who said he had mild allergies to animals. His first time at our house was fine. The 2nd time, his skin got a little itchy. His 3rd time at our house, his skin not only got red & itchy but he started having sneezing fits that wouldn't stop & had to leave early. I had already decided that there was nothing there beyond a possible friendship, but had we clicked, his allergies would have been an issue.

If he had given me the ultimatum of "me or the cat", would I have told my son he had to get rid of the cat he had waited 10 years to get, because the guy I was dating was allergic to it? Not a chance! I would have expected him to get allergy shots or take meds for the allergy because that's what I would do if the roles were reversed. I know several people who have had allergy shots & were permanently rid of their allergies.

I also chatted with one guy who made it clear before our first date that his dog would always come before any woman he was with. Needless to say, there was no first date. Being an animal lover myself who has had a variety of pets all my life, I can understand the bond that develops between human & pet, but I'm not taking 2nd place to a guy's cat, dog, snake, hamster or whatever. I want my petting first, thank you very much.

Loved the sports! Hated the cheesy Closing Ceremony!
Posted: 3/1/2010 11:59:27 AM
I agree that the musical numbers were enjoyable, but I was greatly disappointed in the rest of the closing ceremonies because I expected something with a little more class. I also wondered why they didn't get someone with a more authentic accent to do the French portion of that speech; that was almost painful to listen to.

Humour is great but when they came out wheeling giant mounties with horrendously fake faces, flying moose & beavers, I was completely confused. My reaction to most of it was 'WTF?" ... plain & simple. That female comedienne, Catherine O'Hara was it? I've seen her before on talk shows & comedy shows & think she's a hoot. But her humour didn't belong in the closing ceremonies & her skit seemed really awkward.

The ceremonies might have been funny to Canadians who understood it, but I think a class act would have been appreciated much more by everyone across the globe who was watching it. Yes, I too felt it was an embarrassing portrayal of Canada for something as huge as the Olympics.

Woohoo! Yay Joansie! Congrats on that 42 lb weight loss. That's not an easy task & certainly an accomplishment to be proud of. Congrats too on discovering the wonderful world of sex again. I'm guessing you'll be working on making up for that 25 year dry spell now.

New feature for January 2010 Send a Gift Now
Posted: 1/9/2010 9:50:35 PM
As far as POF offering us some free gifts but others that must be purchased with 'Goldfish points' for real money, it's no different from having to spend real cash to buy Farm Dollars on Farmville, Sand Dollars on Fishville, Café Cash on Café World & all those other online games. You get a little something for free but if you want something more or better, you have to cough up the credit card.

Don't know about anyone else but if I use Quick Reply, the emails usually freeze up on me, so I usually reply the original way. Thanks for the info BE ... I was wondering where those new gifts were hiding.

What has most changed your life journey?
Posted: 1/9/2010 3:38:03 PM
MusicNMe: Thanks for the ... there can never be a shortage of those. What I know from past experience, is that there will be lessons I will learn about people & life through helping my friends through their losses & the grieving period & even with practical needs such as writing obituaries, eulogies & I'm sure much more to come. And I'm sure my perspective will change about many things.

No matter how difficult or negative things appear to be initially, I know there are reasons we must go through the bumps & we might one day find out what those reasons are & then it will all make sense. I believe there is always something positive that comes from the negative as long as we don't harp for too long about our woes & keep our focus on the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Speaking of hugs, I'm still trying to find someone crazy enough to stand with me on a busy street corner wearing 'Free Hugs' signs on our back & chest. I'm way below my quota of hugs & need to get caught up.

What has most changed your life journey?
Posted: 1/9/2010 7:26:22 AM
Within the last 24 hours, I've had phone calls & messages to inform me of four deaths:

1. One of my best girlfriends who was my maid of honour lost her father. I've known her family for 30 years.
2. The owner/operator of the hair salon I've been going to for 20+ years just passed away.
3. My other girlfriend lost her first baby grandson.
4. A third girlfriend's close friend was murdered by her husband.

I'm carrying a bit of a heavy heart & sort of wondering how this will impact me & whether it will change me or my journey through life this year.

Most Wonderful Christmas Memories?
Posted: 1/7/2010 3:10:27 AM
^^^After hearing so much about you, it's nice to finally meet the guy who has stolen MN's heart. Treat her well Mr. Galib or her beloved POF friends will smack you silly ... or worse. Glad the two of you had a wonderful Christmas together & the best of luck to you both.

I have to agree that despite all the wonderful memories of Christmas when my boys were young, seeing their excitement on Christmas morning when discovering their filled stockings & presents from Santa, nothing can quite compare to my childhood memories. My job was punching out the tart shells for Mom's famous pineapple jam tarts after she had rolled out the pastry to just the right thickness & stirring the jam on the stove so it wouldn't burn, rolling rum balls & other assorted pastries that were so yummy. We would all pile into the car & drive out to the outskirts & choose a huge charlie brown tree from the wilderness. Dad would chop it down & we'd drag it home & decorate it while singing along to Christmas carols.

Mom would give me a sip of Brandy on Christmas Eve so I'd nap in the afternoon & be alert enough for when we attended midnight mass, all of us in brand new Christmas outfits that Mom had spent months sewing herself. My sister would always get dizzy then faint in church from it being so packed full of bodies, the heat that built up & the lack of oxygen.

We'd come home after church to find that Santa had been there & the tree was now loaded with presents. (Thanks to all the Santas from the British army barracks that were my dad's awesome friends.) After opening presents, we'd sit around singing Christmas carols while eating homemade fruitcake & there would be sherry for the adults & a special non-alcoholic drink for my sisters & I that my dad would whip up. I'd be playing with my new toys, usually just one big gift from Santa, one from the family & always a new doll from dad's army buddies, several books & more new clothes that Mom had made.

Christmas morning we would be up bright & early to prepare for open house. Around mid-morning, the flow of friends & neighbours would start pouring in for a visit & that would continue all day 'til well after midnight. Everyone who walked through our door, whether we knew them or not, was served a hot meal, Christmas goodies & drinks. Sometimes neighbours who didn't speak English would drop by so we would sit there & smile, speak with gestures & just make sure they were well fed or speak to them in broken Malay or Mandarin. The next couple of days would be spent driving from house to house, paying Christmas visits to all our friends. Those memories can never be replaced.

What movies have you watched this holiday season?
Posted: 1/4/2010 4:56:42 AM
This is probably the first Christmas I haven't watched any movies on telly or at the theatre. I own tons of movies & usually watch all the Christmas ones over December but skipped it this year. Was busy with family occasions, organizing a work event, had a few Christmas house parties with POF & non-POF friends & had a New Year's party at my house this year. There were a couple of times we planned to watch a Christmas movie or two but we did the karaoke thing into the wee hours instead. I've heard great reviews about Avatar ... that will be my next theatre movie once I find someone who hasn't seen it already.

Weird things you have had stolen from you
Posted: 1/3/2010 2:14:20 AM
This guy I had been dating for a month stole my dress. I was running late for work as we had fallen asleep in the living room watching a movie & I hadn't set the alarm in my bedroom. He had to walk past the cleaners on his way home & said he'd drop the dress off for me as I had planned to wear it for our dinner date with friends that evening. I stopped by after work to p/u the dress but the cleaners (who knew me & my clothing well) said it had never been dropped off.

I phoned the guy & left a message on his voicemail reminding him about dinner & asking about my dress. He was supposed to pick me up at 6 pm for dinner but never showed up & didn't call me back. The dress wasn't worth a lot but was one of my favourites. That's still a mystery to this day. Don't know if he wanted it for himself or if he gifted it to a wife or g/f I didn't know about. Hmm ...

It's a Respect thing... isn't it???
Posted: 1/2/2010 5:25:30 AM
Standing for another country's anthem is basic respect & good manners even if you don't sing the anthem 'cause it's not your own. It's much like dining at someone else's home where it is basic respect to bow your head or hold hands during the blessing even if you don't normally do this at home.

As far as this German dude who did not stand, I may wonder why he wasn't standing but I would not judge him, create my own assumptions or even point the fact out to anyone I'm with because he could very well have been suffering from an 'invisible' disability or had valid personal reasons for not doing so.

There have been many times that I have not stood for the anthem when I was recovering from surgery, back or knee injuries, pregnant or whatever. I've had people stare at me angrily for not standing but quietly chuckled at their ignorance for assuming I was being rude or unpatriotic.

I agree with RWW that "our home & native land" needs to be changed in our anthem because Canada may be home to many of us but is certainly not our native land.

my personal opinion.....to boost some patriotic spirit from a young age... kids should be singing the national anthem every morning before school starts.

In elementary & middle schools, we assembled in the gym every morning to sing the national anthem. It does encourage patriotism but also ingrains the words to the anthem so noone makes asses of themselves when they're older. Just watch the national anthem bloopers on youtube & you'll see why this makes good sense.

or running after those kids of yours ... yes, the joyous blessings of motherhood can be a nightmare at times.

I was told by my doc that 1/2 a sublingual Melatonin pill taken at bedtime from mid cycle right to the end of PMS helps to relieve both the physical & mood symptoms.

Let's do wings with that crazy Aussie the next time you have a 'crank' attack ... we'll snap you out of it.

if you saw a car accident?
Posted: 12/30/2009 3:15:25 PM
I always keep a high visibility vest, flashing beacon & a few traffic cones in my trunk in case I come across an emergency situation. First I put on my vest & lay out the traffic cones while walking to the vehicle in question & calling 911, check on any injured individuals to assess their condition & report it. If they are injured, I will stay with them & provide first aid until fire 'n rescue shows up & takes over. Then I will redirect traffic until the officers arrive. If they need me to continue assisting, I will stay, otherwise I will leave my name & number with them then leave them to do their job.

I was the victim in an MVA a few years ago & someone on her way to work stopped to help me out. I would hope that most people would attend to any crisis provided it was safe to do so. To my knowledge, you cannot be sued for providing first aid to the best of your abilities even if it has adverse results.

What's the one place you would love to have sex in?
Posted: 11/25/2009 3:29:04 AM

In the canoe. It think it is big enough.

It is big enough ... mind you the canoe we had was a large, sturdy one that was used for moose hunting. The thrill was in not knowing if we would tip the canoe over & end up in the water. Rocked it plenty ... it didn't tip over but we still got extremely wet.

On topic ... To me, 'where' doesn't matter quite as much as 'who with'. With the right man, no matter where we are, I know we will end up on cloud 9 ... or maybe even cloud 69.

You know you are not in the big city anymore when....
Posted: 11/23/2009 1:07:26 AM

I'm going to guess that's much more likely to be a basset hound than an orca

Like yourself, I swore what was brought into the city by the couple living in the basement suite is what sounds to be moose in the mating season

Nope ... doesn't sound like a basset hound although it could be a horny moose. Sounded to me like a female orca in labour. That moaning went on for 2 days & finally stopped this evening. As far as the duck quacking ... that was definitely a duck but there is still a 'no farm animals' bylaw here. Mind you, it could have been some kid's toy duck that had a realistic built-in quacker.

On topic, here are some pros & cons about living in smaller towns from http://www.essortment.com/home/prosconsliving_svhy.htm

PRO: Clothing is much cheaper in a small town – even “designer” sports shoes.

CON: As you sit on the porch, the lady across the street calls to tell you that your shoestring’s untied.

PRO: Town folk are friendly and take a real interest in your daily life.

CON: Congratulations are on the answering machine. The pregnancy kit is still in the grocery bag.

PRO: People who live in small towns always have time to stop and chat.

CON: Telemarketers don’t even call small town dwellers, because they can’t get them off the line.

PRO: Taxes are lower in small towns – a real plus!

CON: The PTO meeting is cut short to set up for the play that evening in the cafe-gym-itorium.

PRO: You don’t have to travel far to go shopping in a small town.

CON: It’s 7:00 on Christmas Eve and you forgot a Christmas gift. The Five and Dime closed at noon.

PRO: There’s plenty of fresh air when you live out in the country.

CON: You light the barbecue, and your neighbors and their families all come over with picnic foods.

PRO: You’ll never get lost in a small town.

CON: Sunday drives are quite short; there’s only one major road – Main Street.

PRO: Life is slower in a small town – you don’t even have to set your alarm clock.

CON: You’re shaken out of bed every morning when the local train rumbles past the house.

PRO: The crime rate is lower in small towns – you don’t need multiple locks on the door.

CON: The Avon lady has tea on – the neighbor let her in. You introduce yourself to the neighbor.

PRO: Loud neighbors and emergency sirens won’t keep you awake at night.

CON: If only those crickets would just shut up and go to sleep!

PRO: Country living allows you to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

CON: The babbling brook lulls you to sleep. You soon memorize the way to the bathroom in the dark.

PRO: There are no subways to contend with when living in a small town.

CON: You drive for 2 hours – each way – to go from your small town home to your job in the city.

PRO: There’s a lot of room for your pets to run and play in your big back yard.

CON: So much wildlife saunters in your doggie door that the game warden is #1 on your speed dial.

PRO: When you live in a small town, you can hear the sound of birds singing in the trees.

CON: There’s this one nocturnal bird chirping very loudly in the tree outside your bedroom window...

PRO: There are always community groups to join – it’s a great way to get to know people.

CON: You missed the PTO meeting, but your neighbor just KNEW you’d want an exchange student.

PRO: You can pitch a tent in the back yard and have a camp-out when you live in a small town.

CON: You suddenly realize that you really are counting sheep – farm yard escapees.

PRO: Without the city lights, you can really see the stars in the night sky.

CON: The moon is shining so brightly that you have to wear sunglasses and SPF 30 to bed.

PRO: You enjoy a more peaceful slumber and wake up refreshed from the country air.

CON: The smell of bacon awakens you...bacon? Oh... just the Avon lady and the neighbor...again.

PRO: Springtime is beautiful in a small town – flowers and trees are blooming everywhere.

CON: At 8:00 p.m., the only drugstore is closed. You and your bulbous red nose wait until morning.

PRO: In a small town, you don’t have to put your name on a long waiting list at the beauty salon.

CON: The women and the poodles all look strangely similar: Etta’s Salon & Etta’s Dog Grooming.

You know you are not in the big city anymore when...

* you see cow patties & horse turds along all the main roads.
* you have to drive 5 miles to the first general store or gas station to use the phone.
* you breathe deeply & feel energized instead of feeling drained by the smog that has filled your lungs.
* you wake up in the morning to peace & quiet instead of traffic noises, other than the sound of those dang roosters crowing at 5 a.m.

Speaking of which, I swear my neighbour who lives behind me has just adopted a duck, a puppy & an orca 'cause I've been hearing quacking, a puppy yapping & a whale moaning for the last couple of days.

Should men and women live together?
Posted: 11/22/2009 12:40:33 PM

Maybe women and men should look for others of their own gender to make a happy contented home with?

Are ya trying to talk us all into becoming gay?

Not that there's anything wrong with it but I personally like my partner to come with a built-on stickshift.

Men & women were originally created to be with each other. I think that's the reason one sex cums with an 'innie' & the other cums with an 'outie'.

As far as living together, to each their own. Nobody makes rules for the relationship but the couple themselves. I am happiest when cohabiting with someone I am madly in love with who is also crazy about me, but I am in no rush to live with someone right now.

I would, however, like to find someone I can work with to build a relationship that would eventually lead to us living under the same roof as lifetime partners in crime.

P.S. Can I get in on that spanking?

Penises
Posted: 11/21/2009 3:39:19 AM
Bewb thread allowed but penis thread not? Now that is sexism at it's finest!

15 Facts You Didn't Know About Your Penis

1. Smoking can shorten your penis by as much as a centimeter. Erections are all about good bloodflow, and lighting up calcifies blood vessels, stifling erectile circulation. So even if you don't care all that much about your lungs or dying young, spare the li'l guy.

2. Doctors can now grow skin for burn victims using the foreskins of circumcised infants. One foreskin can produce 23,000 square meters, which would be enough to tarp every Major League infield with human flesh.

3. An enlarged prostate gland can cause both erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. If you have an unexplained case of either, your doctor's looking forward to checking your prostate. Even if you're not.

4. The average male orgasm lasts 6 seconds. Women get 23 seconds. Which means if women were really interested in equality, they'd make sure we have four orgasms for every one of theirs.

5. The oldest known species with a penis is a hard-shelled sea creature called Colymbosathon ecplecticos. That's Greek for "amazing swimmer with large penis." Which officially supplants Buck Naked as the best porn name, ever.

6. Circumcised foreskin can be reconstructed. Movable skin on the shaft of the penis is pulled toward the tip and set in place with tape. Later, doctors apply plastic rings, caps, and weights. Years can pass until complete coverage is attained. . . . Okay, we'll shut up now.

7. Only one man in 400 is flexible enough to give himself oral pleasure. It's estimated, however, that all 400 have given it their best shot at some point.

8. There are two types of penises. One kind expands and lengthens when becoming erect (a grower). The other appears big most of the time, but doesn't get much bigger after achieving erection (a show-er).

9. An international Men's Health survey reports that 79 percent of men have growers, 21 percent have showers.

10. German researchers say the average intercourse lasts 2 minutes, 50 seconds, yet women perceive it as lasting 5 minutes, 30 seconds. Are we that good or that bad?

11. Turns out size does matter: The longer your penis, the better "semen displacement" you'll achieve when having sex with a woman flush with competing sperm. That's according to researchers at the State University of New York, who used artificial phalluses (ahem) to test the "scooping" mechanism of the penis's coronal ridge. Next up: curing cancer.

12. The penis that's been enjoyed by the most women could be that of King Fatefehi of Tonga, who supposedly deflowered 37,800 women between the years 1770 and 1784—that's about seven virgins a day. Go ahead, say it: It's good to be king.

13. Better-looking men may have stronger sperm. Spanish researchers showed women photos of guys who had good, average, and lousy sperm—and told them to pick the handsomest men. The women chose the best sperm producers most often.

14. No brain is necessary for ejaculation. ( ) That order comes from the spinal cord. Finding a living vessel for said ejaculation, however, takes hours of careful thought and, often, considerable amounts of alcohol.

15. The most common cause of penile rupture: vigorous masturbation. Some risks are just worth taking.

how do you like your penises, if in fact you LIKE penises?

* I like 'em when they rise to the occasion whenever I'm around.
* I like 'em when they fill out the front of a tight pair of jeans.
* I like 'em clean, sweet-smelling & rigid.
* I like 'em not too straight & curved just enough to stroke that special spot.
* I like 'em in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening & during the night.
* I like 'em in my dreams & when I'm awake.
* I like 'em ... err ... cut or uncut? Umm ... let's keep ya guessing on that one.
* I like 'em hairless 'cause I prefer my dental floss mint flavoured.
* I like 'em when their names are B.O.B. but prefer the real thing.
* I like 'em big enough that you don't have to search through unshaved shrubbery to find them.
* I like how when they're standing straight out in front of you, you can whack 'em gently & they go BOING!!! Sort of like a cat batting a springy toy around.
* They're especially fun when you dunk 'em in icy water ... it's like watching slugs shrivel up when you sprinkle salt on 'em.

Chocolate Lovers - Whats the best???????
Posted: 11/20/2009 10:45:10 PM
Classc, you have absolutely no self-discipline, do you girl? I bet your entire stash of Callebaut is gone & you didn't even share. Shameful ... utterly shameful! But I bet I can top your piggery. Just wait 'til Costco comes out with those giant gift tins of Almond Roca for Christmas. There are at least two of them with my name on them.

MusicNMe ... Nope, not interested in partaking in an orgy myself either but just figured that if a bunch of Poffers got together for a chocolate fondue party, there is bound to be a lot of smearing & licking going on.

Sort of like the event where yogurt was spread all over several people & a few yogurt lovers were licking it off random body parts. Because I instigated the whole yogurt mania with my 'VALSCO' thread, I felt it was my duty to start the lickfest of course.

Don't like dark chocolate ... too bitter for my taste, although I am intrigued by that spicy chocolate & would love to try it. It's milk chocolate all the way for me ... any kind will do although my fave would be Cadbury Fruit 'n Nut bars & chocolate with wafers inside like Kit Kat. I love Bar Six & Lion bars but don't know if they're even available here ... think it's more of a British thing. Big Turks are another fave & chocolate filled with marzipan or caramel.

Ohhh ... Christmas is going to wickedly sinful & I will love every minute of it then deal with the consequences in the new year.

Posted: 11/19/2009 5:26:05 PM
Sharing this story 'cause I hope it will help someone who is going through what I went through last winter.

All that winter blues stuff I have already shared in this thread that I went through last year, fatigue, sleeping too much, etc. ... well it kept building until I was sleeping 16-18 hours a day, sometimes without even waking up to go pee. I first noticed the depression, anxiety attacks & excessive sleep slowly building around October & it hit an all-time high by February. I knew something was drastically wrong since my normal sleep night is 6 hours, not 16 or 18 hours.

I've always been a cheerful, bubbly person so this new person wasn't me at all. The biggest challenge for me was going to my doctor & saying "I'm depressed & have no idea why". I also delayed going to see him because I didn't want anything on my medical record related to any sort of mental or emotional problems, but I realized whatever I was going through was destroying me.

So in I went to see my doc for the usual 5 min appt but he kept me in his office for 45 minutes 'cause I couldn't stop sobbing. He felt I was suicidal (I knew I wasn't) & brought me samples of anti-depressants & tried to get me to take them in his office while he was trying to figure out whether to refer me to a specialist or admit me into the hospital immediately for analysis. I refused to take the anti-depressants & told him I wanted a diagnosis & cure, not anti-depressants to bandaid over the real problem. Once he was convinced I wasn't suicidal, he set up an appt the next day with a specialist to figure out if my situation was mental, emotional, nutritional or due to a medical condition.

After a half hour of going over my symptoms with the specialist, he diagnosed me with a severe Vitamin D deficiency. He started me on 2000 units of Vit D at bedtime along with 700mg Calcium/Magnesium (for better absorption), plus 1/2 a sublingual Melatonin pill at 11 pm every night so I could fall asleep by midnight & to relieve PMS symptoms. In the morning, I was to take my usual concoction of vitamins & try to eat 3 small meals a day. I have survived on one meal & one snack a day since I was 14 yrs old, so eating 3 times a day wasn't going to happen but I forced myself to eat a handful of cereal with granola & nuts. He also told me to get even a small amount of exercise daily & keep all the lights on in my house.

3 days after starting this new treatment, my night sleep was back down to 6-7 hours, the depression, fatigue & anxiety attacks disappeared & I felt more cheerful than I had felt in 10 years. I almost felt like I was on some kind of uppers & life was just feeling great. I was able to handle crises, obstacles, arrogant & difficult people, etc. by thinking & speaking logically instead of reacting emotionally.

My specialist noticed the difference when I went back a week later. Instead of sobbing my heart out, as I did the first time he saw me, & saying "I have no idea why I'm crying but I can't stop", I was smiling, laughing & joking with him (my normal self) & he was tickled pink to see the difference in me in just a week.

He also said that most docs are too quick to hand out anti-depressants like candy as soon as they spot any sign of anxiety or depression & that probably half the people taking anti-depressants or sitting in psych wards, are just suffering from nutritional deficiencies & can be helped by the right balance of vitamins for their bodies. But there are some people out there who need anti-depressants & only a good specialist can judge what is best for your body.

FAS.. new red crotchless knickers and a case of yogurt. No I am not delivering it lol

Yay! More yogurt AND red crotchless knickers ... woohoo!!! Thanks Gourmand123! Now I can replace my white crotchless knickers that got red & green dye stains from a giant candy cane one Christmas. Do I get a matching bra with it? You know the kind with holes in the front that leaves the important bits exposed & accessible?

BE needs a teapot warmer… I don’t knit****warmers…sorry

Fine, then I will knit the d1ck warmers for all the guys on here but y'all have to email me with your length & girth measurements ... you know, just so I can make sure they fit just right.

For all the lovely ladies on here, I gift you with a weekend date on the tropical island of your choice with any poster of your choice ... now who would you choose ... hmm???

Snotsure: I think this year I will buy Funnyandsweet a whole lot of yogurt

Oh yay! A yogurt lube for Christmas ... just what I always wanted. May I suggest you buy your favourite flavour & personally stop by to ... err ... 'deliver' the yogurt? I love to share.

Speaking of knitted tea cozies ... one Christmas a friend's sister knitted all the men in her very large family 'd1ck warmers'. She made her husband an extra long one that hung down his leg & said that's because she had asked Santa for 'a few more inches' for Christmas. LOL! Most of the guys dropped their drawers, slipped them on & did the whole runway fashion show thing. That was the funniest Christmas ever!

Groooaaan ... I hate gift shopping for people I don't know well. Men are especially difficult to buy for unless you've been together for a while & know their taste. For Valentine's Day, anniversaries, etc. I prefer that we just go out for dinner at a nice restaurant, maybe take in a play or concert, go dancing, etc. & just spend a nice evening together.

In my past relationships, my b/f has purchased gifts for his family, added my name to the gifts & given them out from both of us. I also purchased the gifts for my family & added his name to the gift as well. I like this system best.

If there's a large family get-together that I'm invited to, I usually buy a bunch of lottery scratch tickets & hand one out to each person. In a smaller get-together, I often buy those $5 Starbucks Christmas gift cards & give one to each person. If they don't drink coffee or tea, they can use them for hot chocolate so even kids can use them.

Whenever in doubt, play it safe & give gift cards for restaurants or stores you know the person likes. If they drink, liquor store gift cards come in handy. If in doubt buy a 'mall' gift card that can be used at all the stores & restaurants in a popular mall; i.e. Coquitlam Centre, Lougheed Mall, etc. Attach the gift card to a bottle of wine or box of chocolates if you like giving a wrapped gift.

I like how many places now have the purell stuff when you enter. when i go i purell my hands and squirt some on the napkin and wipe the handles of the cart.

Oh good. Now I don't feel like I'm the only one who is paranoid about handling the bacteria-ladened handles of shopping carts then touching the produce & other foods I'm buying with snot & poop bacteria on my hands. I always clean my hands with the antibacterial foam then clean off the handles & top shelf of my shopping cart where I often put my purse. I also disinfect the straps & bottom of my purse regularly.

I shop at Safeway, even when I know it's more expensive.

Safeway is right across the street from me but I rarely shop there because of the higher prices & because they don't carry some of my regular grocery items. Also the last time I bought a variety of fruit from that store, it was all bland & tasteless. Even the bananas didn't taste like bananas & got tossed out. I should have brought it all back to them in hindsight & gotten my money back. I think there's a good reason why the produce end of that store is always empty while the deli & bakery end is always busy.

Stupidstore drives me crazy 'cause you can never find a CSR to help you out; our local store also has that ridiculous ramp that so many people dislike. I'll stick to Save-On & Costco where I've shopped for the last 20+ years. Great customer service & I know where everything is so it's faster to shop.

Doin' it with socks or shoes on
Posted: 11/15/2009 7:19:09 PM

Honey if you're slipping off, you might wanna try a little Extenzzzz...

LOL! I'm with Anicca on this one. If you keep slipping off or 'out' too often then I would suggest a lengthening, be it Extenzzz or a surgical extension. I have a friend who gained close to 2 inches from the surgery & has made his g/fs very happy since then ... no slippage there!

If that doesn't work, you could always use surgical spreaders to hold labia & butt cheeks apart ... oops! wrong thread.

Sex in bed, in a romantic, sensual or sexy atmosphere ... lingerie only, definitely no socks allowed. Sex that is spontaneous, impromptu, quickie, outdoors or in other odd places, there isn't usually time to whip it all off so shoes & socks are cool. Just expose the important parts & go at it. If you're standing on a slippery floor though, I'd opt for bare feet or keep the shoes on 'cause socks on slippery floors can cause one to lose one's balance & topple over, resulting in coitus interruptus & possibly a trip to the E.R.

For those who don't know.. she is mainly from American Pie fame.

oooh, is she that "one time at bandcamp..." girl?

Nope, she's not the bandcamp 'flute in the chute' girl. Yes, she got her fame after 'American Pie' but she was on Saved By the Bell & Days of our Lives ... also in several movies.

You should recognize her from this pic: http://www.adrants.com/images/Tara_Reid-Oct2K1Maxim2.jpg

A sexually active woman tells her plastic surgeon that she wanted her vaginal lips reduced in size because they were too loose and floppy. Out of embarrassment she insisted that the surgery be kept a secret and the surgeon agreed.

Awakening from the anesthesia after the surgery she found 3 roses carefully placed beside her on the bed. Outraged, she immediately calls in the doctor - "I thought I asked you not to tell anyone about my operation!"

The surgeon told her he had carried out her wish for confidentiality and that the first rose was from him: "I felt sad because you went through this all by yourself."

"The second rose is from my nurse. She assisted me in the surgery and empathized because she had the same procedure done some time ago" And what about the third rose?" she asked.

"That's from a man upstairs in the burn unit. He wanted to thank you for his new ears."

What to do with old wedding rings?
Posted: 11/14/2009 4:38:27 AM
Walked by a jewellery case at the store with my fiancé looking for engagement & wedding rings. Lots of gorgeous rings but nothing grabbed my attention until I saw this one ring. I said, while laughing, "OMGosh! You have to see this ring. It totally looks like E.T. What a wacky design!" Well, E.T. ring sat on my finger for 15 years along with my wedding ring. Nothing fancy or pricey ... just very unique.

I didn't know what to do with it after the divorce so I stuck it in my safety deposit box. Getting rid of it didn't seem right, after all it was gifted to me in good spirit during good times. My ex asked if he could keep his ring for sentimental value too. I still have a small but pretty Birks platinum diamond engagement ring that my first b/f gave me. He didn't want it back after we broke off the engagement ... don't know what to do with it other than appreciate the sentimental value.

I sort of believe that jewellery retains the energy & spirit of the person who wore it so I don't like wearing used jewellery. I think that when it gets melted down & altered into something else, it 'refreshes' the metal, so I might do that one day as I have lots of broken & intact 22+ gold pieces that I will never wear, some mine & some my moms. Like someone else mentioned, I sort of see it as my 'Emergency Fund'.

As another poster mentioned, the machine has no way of telling the difference between various types of apples so one could buy a more expensive apple & punch in the code/price for a cheaper apple. And then you have those who will scan a bulk bag of an expensive item & punch in the code for a cheaper item instead to get it for a lesser price.

I had a chat with someone who did this about the dishonesty of it, the fact that if everyone did this the store would have to jack up their prices to make up for their losses so we would ALL end up paying more for groceries, not to mention the risk of being caught. In order to prevent this sort of deception, the store would have to post a security person at each of these automatic checkouts so they might as well stick to having a cashier & bagger.

But, yes, for those who are honest & only have a few items, it can be more convenient if you don't have those error messages popping up which can create an even longer line-up while the shopper tries to resolve the problem. I had to wait until a customer service person came & punched in a code to eliminate the error message so I could continue scanning & people behind me were getting annoyed. I prefer having the full customer service for a no stress shopping experience.

Organ donation - Opt-in or Opt-out?
Posted: 11/6/2009 12:30:03 PM
I'm getting visions of horror movies coming to life with us being forced to give up free choice of whether to donate or not.

I see automatic harvesting as a new source of income for doctors. I can see some of the unscrupulous ones accepting payment under the table to schedule patients for unnecessary surgery to remove healthy kidneys, portions of their liver & other organs under the pretense that the organ is causing their illness, in order to pass the organ onto those who have the bucks & need transplants.

Or even giving patients meds to make them appear terminal, talking the families into donating their organs, then pulling the plug just to gain that patient's organs for transplant in exchange for a new form of "blood money".

Then there are those with some surgical knowledge, possibly those who have barred from practicing medicine, who might enter the underground business of harvesting organs from the homeless or others who are desperate for cash & selling their organs via illegal channels to those desperate enough to pay for said organs.

Yuppers! Horror movies coming to real life indeed.

^^^Yup, agree that the steam mop would not be healthy for wood floors, but it works great on ceramic tile, linoleum, vinyl tile flooring, concrete garage floors, etc. There is a steam mop that comes with a handheld attachment that can be used to steam dirt & grease off kitchen surfaces, car engines, etc. You can also steam curtains & clothing with it.

all season vs all weather tires - who knew there was a difference?
Posted: 11/5/2009 1:30:45 AM
Some people use all season tires throughout the year, winter included. I have always felt safer sticking winter tires on my car during the snowy months & have done this since I started driving in snow in the late 80's.

I've always used four winter tires on my vehicles but someone said this was now mandatory. I was also advised to purchase four identical tires with the same tread pattern to keep the traction of all the tires uniform. Apparently, using a different pair of tires on the front & the rear could cause braking & steering problems.

Many people who grew up in colder climates where they had to drive in a lot more snow than we get here, claim to know how to drive in the snow properly so they don't need winter tires. However, I have been in the vehicle with some of these people when they lost control & skidded or couldn't get unstuck. But even after near misses, once they had recovered from the initial scare, these 'die-hards' still insisted they were good with all season tires & didn't need winters.

After seeing cars skidding across the road & sliding into other cars, trees, ditches, rolled over, etc., I'd rather play it safe & stick to four winter tires or if the road conditions are treacherous, I'll stay home under a warm blanky with a mug of hot chocolate instead.

When I moved into my new place this spring, my sis bought me a steam mop as a housewarming gift. I love it. You fill the little tank up with water, plug it in & it washes & disinfects the floors with hot steam. Anything that is dried or caked onto the floors gets softened by the hot steam & mops right up.

The thick terry towel attachments that velcro onto the head can be rinsed out in the sink then tossed into the laundry. My sis has the original model with the triangle head on it but she got me the one with the rectangular head which fits into smaller & tighter spots better.

I don't know how this differs from the Swiffer Wetjet but I look forward to mopping my floors now.

What are you looking for in a relationship?
Posted: 11/4/2009 5:24:42 PM
* No workaholics, no alcoholics, no smokers/druggies, no gambling holics, no anger management problems, no players. Sheesh! Why is that so impossible to find?

* The ability to gab together for hours on end & still never run out of things to talk about, but at the same time, being comfortable doing & saying nothing but just enjoying each other's presence.

* Someone who has what it takes to be my best male friend, companion & confidante.

* A witty, smartass sense of humour is a must. I will die in a relationship without laughter.

* Non-judgmental, non-critical with a sensitive, kind & caring spirit towards humans & animals.

* Similar interests in movies, food preferences & other activities.

* The patience & endurance to go through the ups & downs of life together without bailing out at the first sign of disagreement or crisis.

* Good personal hygiene.

* A guy who can keep up with my sex drive, knows how to work my body until I'm begging him to stop & enjoys the fringe benefits that will be reciprocated.

* Above all, a deep love & commitment because when you care enough about a person to give them those two things, a whole lot of other good stuff will happen within the relationship & all those trivial things that used to bother you about each other won't mean diddly anymore.

The M Word - Marriage
Posted: 11/3/2009 11:05:21 PM
I very rarely browse profiles or check out the 'viewed me' guys unless someone contacts me directly or adds me to their faves. But I went hunting for that marriage search thingy & checked it out. WWR, you are so right about most of the marriage-minded men on there wanting to make babies. POF should create a separate marriage search for those seeking a permanent commitment but who are all done with baby-making.

A poffer friend is 60 & just married a 38 yr old 'cause he wants to start making more babies. Oy vey!!! Who's got the energy to start raising kids all over again at that age! This is the time for grandchildren 'cause you get to play with them then give them back when their diapers are poopy or when they've drained every ounce of your energy.

Looking back, I realize that I've always been happiest when in a committed long-term relationship. I'm not in any rush to get married a.s.a.p. but I don't want to spend the rest of my life doing the superficial casual dating thing either. There are an awful lot of long-term or marriage-minded guys who are players underneath those words & the guys who initially appeared to be the right ones have had serious addictions that they didn't disclose.

I'm still hanging onto the hope that there's one out there for me, maybe on POF, maybe not. I would like to settle down with someone to enjoy this era of life with, then age gracefully together 'til death do us part & all that silly romantic mush.

How does POF determine whether you are "marriage-minded" or not anyway? Has anyone seen me on the marriage-minded searches? Curious to know if I'm on there or not. Hmm .....

Organ donation - Opt-in or Opt-out?
Posted: 11/3/2009 12:41:30 PM

It covers heart transplants only and how the recipient gets strong urges to be like the donor. I wonder if the same type of memory transfer occurs with other organs?

I've heard about this before, where the recipient of the organ had so many thoughts, emotions & memories flooding them that weren't theirs. It was so overwhelming that they made efforts to contact the deceased person's family to ask about their life before death, in order to better understand what they were feeling. I'm guessing if someone was brain dead & could receive the brain of another person, that would make life quite interesting for the family of the person receiving the new brain. There might be some wonderful memories & skills there but also some that might be a nightmare to live with. Scary yet fascinating!

I had listed my organs down for both transplant & medical research. Then I met a friend's b/f who was in med school & heard all the nutty stories about all the gags that medical students pull using donated bodies & body parts. Decided nah, I don't want my parts disrespected even after I bugger off & leave my body behind so I will donate them for transplant only. However, my guess is that when my body rolls in & they see that I'm an organ donor, they'll just laugh their azzes off at the ridiculousness of me thinking that someone would actually want my worn & rusty innards.

I can see the logic of establishing automatic consent of organ donation, due to so many people not having bothered to make this decision & not taking this dire need seriously. However, I don't like the idea of an organization or governmental body making decisions about my body & possibly being able to overrule my family's feelings about this.

Organ donation - Opt-in or Opt-out?
Posted: 11/3/2009 3:41:57 AM
^^^I was just discussing the substitution of a tattoo instead of a medical I.D. bracelet with someone recently, but some medical conditions can improve or be completely cured, which would then leave you with a tat that you would have to get removed immediately. Otherwise, in an emergency situation, you could be treated for a condition you no longer have which could have detrimental results.

I like the idea of having an 'organ donor' tattoo but are you expecting this to be a service funded by the government/medical services plan or is each individual responsible for paying for their own tattoo? Will the public health dept. have to hire tattoo artists for this purpose? And what if you change your mind about being an organ donor or switch to a religion (through marriage or choice) that doesn't allow organs to be removed from the deceased? Again, one would have to pay for removal of the tattoo.

There will obviously have to be a standard location on the body & a standard design for an 'organ donor' tattoo so medical staff will be able to locate it easily without having to do a full body search. But what if you already have a tattoo in that exact location? Also to keep the design identical, maybe they should just come up with factory issue branding irons with the "Organ Donor" design on them & have us all line up like cattle to be branded.

Are all men potential rapists?
Posted: 11/2/2009 2:49:04 AM

takingitslow48: from your msg 85 - "I have a grandmother, mother, adult daughters that I love and RESPECT"

You forgot to include your female friends in this statement.

I'm not going to wander into this conversation too much because I could easily stick my foot into my mouth & ML will have to give me another lecture on how not to be too open & honest & to speak in general terms.

But I agree with Anicca & Dan on this. I don't have daughters, but as a mom of two young adult boys, I worry about them being assaulted & yes, raped when they take public transit alone late at night. As Dan did with his daughter, I too have had talks with my boys about being cautious when alone with men who are strangers to them especially late at night when few people are around to come to their rescue. Just like I taught them to look both ways before crossing the street & not to believe strangers who ask for help to find their missing pet & to avoid swimming in unsafe areas & to wear a condom, etc. etc. etc.

Take BETTER pics. Take close ups. Ummmm,,,,do some housekeeping before pics are taken. Don't be afraid to add someone or something to your pics,,,,,and get some ACTION shots!!!!! Much more interesting. Do something in your pics really,,,really TABOO

Housekeeping??? Vacuuming ... check. Dishes ... check. Dusting ... check. Litter ... err ... box cleaned out & area all around it tidied up. Taboo action pics & videos only to be taken & viewed by long-term partners. No cam play for me, thank you very much. I prefer live, one-one-one action.

you just may be camming with your best friend's mom...

Can't remember the name of the thread but I posted a conversation I had with a 23 year old dude on here who was telling me how hawt & sexy I was & begging me to go out with him. He wanted to cam but I told him I didn't have one. He wouldn't take no for an answer & I eventually told him I couldn't go out with him 'cause my son would kill him. He was stumped & asked why. I said 'cause my son doesn't like his buddies hitting on his mom. I had recognized him from my son's pics on another popular site. The kid begged me not to tell my son, apologized repeatedly, then asked if it was still ok to come over to our house to hang out with my son.

I did the MSN chat thing a couple of years ago when I signed up here but soon realized that most of the guys had an ulterior motives & they kept sending me pics via MSN to try & tempt me. Apparently the pics auto-saved to a folder on my computer because when my techie friend & I were working on the computer we stumbled onto a folder with a variety of pics that were sent to me via MSN ... some clothed but others of muscular arms & torsos, six-pack abs, close-up erections, etc. I had some explaining to do to convince the guy that I wasn't a porn addict.

Falling through the cracks with boosters
Posted: 10/28/2009 10:22:06 PM
^^^Sorry to hear about your mom.

The website I provided in my above post also provided similar information to the one you listed. It also said that this vaccine only covers the more common 23 out of 80 strains of Pneumococcal bacteria out there. I figured the shots were required every 5-10 years because by then, the current bacteria would likely have mutated & the newer vaccine will hopefully have been improved to cover the newer strains of this bacteria.

For anyone who is considering getting this shot, I had no negative reactions to it, not even redness or swelling in the area of the shot, whereas with the flu shot I usually get a low-grade fever, sore arm & feel unwell for a day or two.
