WHAT IF???
Posted: 4/21/2008 11:03:57 AM
What does your mind make of these four men in power at this time of need...think of the possibilities.
Pierre Elliot Trudeau
Dr. Martin Luther King
John F. Kenedy
Robert F. Kenedy

Just a what if here people....it makes one ponder the actions of those who are in power now..

RFK and the new assasination audio tape
Posted: 4/19/2008 10:47:29 PM
MG...you're beating a dead horse..lol...heard stories and read many a text on this subject....no matter how many witnesses and evidence I can only refer you to the Warren Commission's amazing lack of judgement...vis a vis the magic "bullet"....it was amazingly recovered from the gurney wich lay JFK's body....a bullet so pristeen as though it had never been fired in it's life....and yet ballistic experts on the commission's witness list testified to it's authenticity.....real ballistic experts were baffled by this admission and yet the commisssion saw fit to make it so.....and there are so many other flaws in the report.....lol...a real good read if your taste in reading is comedy...as for RFK.....same old scenario...patsy in the wings waiting for his moment of thruth....both assasination were similar and yet so different but the result were the same....two brothers who saught a better life for their countrymen and a singular vision......PEACE!!!(why is it such a dirty word for W)

The price of Gas
Posted: 4/19/2008 10:24:07 PM
Gas we need it....it's as simple as the gas cap on your car people........don't forget where the oil is and who's bying it and distributing it.....North American oil & car manufacturers are telling us where to buy and when to buy their products....BECAUSE WE NEED IT.....and who else will step in and compete with them.....cheaper gas NEVER....alternative motor vehicles with better mileage ie: electric cars....NEVER....for as long as we consumers keep these bozos in business without fear of a consumer backlash.....well then we deserve the fate we have engineered for our colllective future as consumers......WE HOLD THE PURSE STRINGS PEOPLE!!!!!!!.......OYE.

Screw impeachment, how about some jail time?
Posted: 3/5/2008 6:51:50 PM
Jail time...never......Bush and Cheney have insulated themselves with the flag and played on the fears of americans in order to escape some real responsility......their
answers to any charges will be "We were only protecting american lives".....and they will never face a court of law.....It's amazing how these two bozos got re-elected.....testiment to those who elect these war mongers...you want them you get them.

Pierre Elliot Trudeau - a study in leadership.
Posted: 2/17/2007 7:35:38 PM
Today I was remembered of the simple fact that Trudeau was the eternal thorn in the conservative side...and Mulroney would attest to that in his somewhat self-promoting tapes...just remember the Meech Lake accord...when Trudeau spoke out against it...it was like the old west..lol..a gunslinger comming out the west and shooting down the cattle barons...Mulroney never knew what hit him..lol..he never had the vision of Canada that Trudeau had...I think he knew more about ourselves and let us discover it on our own..what was Canada to each of us..and then there's a small part of me that still hopes to see him come out of the west and lead us once more....now that would be something....When I think of Trudeau...I see Canada at it's best now and forever in the future.

Trudeau was unique as his views for a strong Canada...but who else could demonstrate on the world stage that Canada was a land of tolerance and multi-culturism...a father, a husband,an athlete in short a Canadian...he will be missed but surely remembered more. Love him or hate he was human just like you and me...Canadian at it deepest core.

Is The Anti-War Movement Gaining Momentum?
Posted: 1/29/2007 1:00:28 PM
"What kind of a peace do we seek, I'm talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, not mearly peace in our time but peace in all times. Our problems are man made therefore they can be solved by man.For in the final analysis on those basic common links,is that we all inhabit this small planet,we all breathe the same air,we cherish our children's future and we are all mortal."
John F. Kennedy

I rather think that cooler heads can prevail and will prevail if we heed the words of the past and guide ourselves accordingly...PEACE is not a dirty word....it carries weight and courage for those who profess it..no matter the cost.

Impeachment is imperative ...
Posted: 1/24/2007 7:00:51 PM
Impeachment...a nice thought but not a reality in the near future....or it never will happen again....Nixon was the last to suffer the consequences...as for Bush..hard to say...with the current political climate and the presidential race looming... his impeachment will never happen...Bush will have to let history decide his legacy and let the chips fall where they may....his last State of the Union address could have been his way out but he chose the wrong path again.

For You Bill O'Reilly Fans
Posted: 1/13/2007 10:54:04 PM
Bill O'Reiley.....ummmm...what can one say...very little actually ...here's a man who misquotes obscure magazine articles...can't proofread his own work..has an opinion on nothing he understands...and backs it up with nothing...raves and rants his way to rating success that boggles the mind...but then again the uninformed, monosylabic audience he so fervently entertains, keeps him fed and well payed...and he doesn't care if he gets the story right ....soooooooooo...that's BOR in his nutshell.
As for Fox news...you can't have the good without the bad...lol...and Fox news is bad news...one day they'll eventually get the the story right...NOT!!

Bush taking more time to craft Iraq plan ...
Posted: 1/11/2007 8:28:33 AM
Bush can craft all the plans for Iraq that he wishes...and they will all fail...Iraq is in the middle of a CIVIL WAR ....there I said it..lol...you think GW will figue that out...what 2 yrs down the line at election time...lol...I expect him be be ever so humble then and admitting once again he screwed up..."Those who make history are doomed to repeat it"...broken record time.
And now Bush's plan to increase the troops in Iraq.... it's not winning support at home....Geroge bring the boys back home...regroup and rethink your plan...AND LET THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT AND IT'S PEOPLE DECIDE THEIR OWN FATE..there are more pressing issues at home..like the real fight on terrorism on your own home soil...Iraq is toast..politically and militarily speaking.

Ottawa and the CFL were synonimous at one time or another but let's face it Ottawa can be a boring town...the Sens were and still a draw but for how long...who knows...lol...don't forget..pro sport cities will endorse a winning team as they bring in the tax revenues and when they lose they lose interest and let the team move or just die...it's economics vs team loyalty..... from the fans perspective....it's another slap in their collective faces....no matter the price of the tickets.

What, Exactly, Are We Dying For?
Posted: 11/1/2006 6:02:11 PM
I supposed we can all say without shame that we all support the men and women that are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan these are extraordinairy people working in dire circumstances....Many in the Bush camp have tried and failed to compare this "war" in Iraq to World War II in some areas or conditions......That war was fought because it was the "RIGHT THING TO DO". and not fought for a failed foreign policy or american interests..It didn't take and anvil on the noggin for the american administration of the day to get involved....that was a no brainer....We knew the enemy back then, it was GOOD vs Evil...in the truer sense...It was a winnable war..As for The Vietnam/Iraq comparison...well.."FOR THOSE WHO MAKE HISTORY ARE CONDEMMNED TO REPEAT IT"...sounds familiar..don't it George.?
So George.."DO THE RIGHT THING"..bring 'em back home.

Another friendly fire incident
Posted: 9/10/2006 6:17:01 PM
Lar

The fact remains that friendly fire is part of war and we can't get away from it...WWII was no different than Vietnam or even Korea...the weapons of today aren't that different, they find theirs marks whether friend or foe....Casualties are part of war and just one is enough to burden history with regret and sorrow...To this day no one has ever given a true reason for war and the results it produces..War is war ppl...fought for different reasons too many to number...Peace is it's ultimate end only to be overshadowed by the threat of war...it is a constant in our world.
Whatever politics we all endorse...can we agree on one thing...War is not as simple as one would think.

Greatest P.M. in Canadian History?
Posted: 5/16/2006 7:29:14 PM
Pierre Ellliot Trudeau without a doubt...love him or hate him. His unique view of Canada and it's place in the world was his true moment of greatness....He defined us as Canadians with our cultural diversity as our strength and our love of freedom our badge of honor...True there were great PMs in the past but none had the flair and the confidance to defend his convictions without fear of reprisals...When the FLQ crisis was happening a reporter on the steps of the Parliament asked " How far are you willing to go.?"...his response wasn't perfunctory it was succinct."Just watch me."..at that moment the FLQ took their last breath of canadian freedom...For that was Trudeau...nothing more nothing less...a real Canadian.
And upon his passing even a man from Cuba left his homeland to bid him fairwell..that was certainly an homage worth noting..
My own slant on the man that would be the legacy we would hope to live up to...Canadian.

Turn off when guys dont drive??
Posted: 3/6/2006 1:36:10 PM
This thread is most...laughable!!!...what does a car have to do with a relationship.?..Ladies, do you judge the man or the car..?....What he drives or doesn't drive shouldn't impact your feelings...remember your heartfelt feelings.
I drive for a living..comapny truck and all...been driving since my teen years...had cars and now I don't have one...it doesn't mean I am less of person inside...So ladies, look beyond the wheels...because love is not a one way street, lets stop running each down in both directions.
p.s. same goes for the guys that think, women without cars aren't pulling thier weight....puit the brakes on those thoughts.

Questions will daunt you ..like who moves in with who..who gets to change his or her citizenship..things like that..love is great....time will tell...take it slow as you said ..then you'll know for sure if both of you can make that leap together.

What is attraction.????
Posted: 1/4/2006 5:03:46 PM
Attraction...what is it for you.?
To some it's guided by the pictures they see on profiles ...sad but true even for me...rare are the times that your profile's story is read...Sometimes you get the odd bite on the line that is curious if you haven't posted a picture...but when you show your face welll...you know what happens next..lol..won't bore you all with the trst of the story...Bur letus examine that...what makes us connect to a person that posts a picture...what guides us to contact him or her simply because the way the look or..present themselves ie: various states of undress or posing with their proudest body parts for all to see...lol...In my mind there's nothing wrong in being proud of what the gods have given you...given the fact that you must deal with the consequences of the weird e-mails...every action is met with an equal if not more unsavoury action...
We're only human really..trying to not look at an attractive woman or man makes us abnormal..lol..
Can we look past the looks and see the true person behind the picture..I say yes...in a perfect world. Well we don't live in a perfect world now do we...so the question still remains. Can we take the TIME and LOOK at the person that is in front of us and LOOK deeper. Or do we succumb to the baser instinct..lust, desire and physicality OR do we engage interaction, conversation, compassion, passion...getting to know a person rather then figure out how you will look together out in public.

Sadly, we'll remain human to the end and judge by looks and looks alone..rare are those that look beyond the mortal shell we're forced to bare...a human soul has no color, no make-up, no height or weight requirement...it simply IS.
Einstein wrote once "Inteligence is limited, imagination is unlimited"....Imagine if you could see beyond the facade.?..

Bush support grows!
Posted: 12/20/2005 7:55:33 PM
I don't think his support is growing but .....giving an uplifting speach about the "War on Terrorism"...is easy, to prove its victorious end is a hard sale....remember OSAMA BIN LADEN ?...the fella that is responsible for 9/11...the true terrorist and not the invented ones by the Bush administration. Remember Bush's words on the onset "Impending attack, Weapons of mass Destruction, a clear link to terrorism and later on, insurgency, the list goes on. These were the adjectives used to invade Iraq, yes I said invade Iraq and for what.?...No real intelligence report could support Bush's claim of impending doom...all were manufactured for is unilateral action without the U.N.'s support...meaning we're above international law and we're not listening..lalalalaaalalalalalalaa..a lalalalalalalalal..Well now we have countless casualties on both sides...to what end.?
Iraq will have to fend for themselves eventually so why not pull out..let the Iraquis determine their own fate...If democracy is to survive in Iraq, then it must suffer the pains of growth of THEIR own making....American enfluence will wane in the region as they pull out..that will be the true test for the Iraqis...democracy is earned and not foisted upon us by others who believe it to be the only way of life....free will is also a stake here folks.

@Popeye..what will you do if an errant conversation you have on your cell with a friend pertaining to assinating the president. (you're were only joking) gets picked up by satcoms..what then.?..It was was all innocent right.?..Secret Service would not be interested?..You bet they would as they take all threats to the President as a criminal offence, punishable by imprisonment..then where would you be.?
You would certainly invoke your civil rights have been violated.?
When a governement invokes "National Security"..wellll...that has "oh oh " written all over it.

How do you trust a woman ?
Posted: 12/6/2005 7:44:50 PM
"How do you trust a woman".?...interesting thread.
Well..let's look at this way...Do you trust yourself.?...Meaning, can you let yourself be involved with a woman without the fear of getting dumped or played for a fool..are you strong enough emotionally to lose and to move on if need be....It's a gamble for both men and women to trust....it's not how but can you "trust one more time"...it's best left to yourself and your heart's capacity to move on when that trust has been damaged. We're only human afterall.

The art of conversation has gone way of of the dodo....I look for intelligent conversation..mind you I don't look for the phds or masters degrees but for a general awareness or a woman that has something to say....anything that resembles an actual conversation.

Frienship implies many things...through thick and thin..true friends have the abiltiy to talk to each other without the fear of breaking the friendship...the question is..is her medical condition that hard to endure to the point where you can walk away.?
Think of it this way...what if the situation was reverse.
You only, can answer these questions...walk away and you may regret it or stay....but you will have to draw the line in the sand with her...put your cards on the table as it were.
Ultimately the right decision is always the hardest one to make.

The illness is a sore point between you two...your e-mail was okay to send...don't contact her for now and see what happens..she may e-mail you back. In the meantime go back to your life and keep busy..time may heal the wounds of your relationship and her illness.

Lies...they're mere omitions...white lies or just lies..wrapped up in a deception..whether they occur here or a bar .....you have to believe that truth is out there no matter the venue you choose to frequent.
