USC vs TX

With Vince Young, we beat a team many were touting to be the best of all time. We can't be expected to beat the best team of all time next year without VY, but certainly don't go the route that the team will suck. Texas Longhorns----2005 National Champs----and that's as good as gold, ladies.

Sill talkin'? WE ARE THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!! Is there nothing that will get you all to go home to your losing teams? Face it...this wasn't anyone's year but ours. And if money won championships in college football, Notre Dame should be riding a 27 year winning streak.

ummm....at least let the groundskeepers at the Rose Bowl clean up the confetti before you talk about next year....this year is ours and nothing anyone here or anywhere says changes that. WE BEAT USC...by 3 or 30 points doesn't matter...and if you're a sooner fan, appreciate that we vindicated your 55-19 embarassment of our conference last year...GO HORNS!!!!!

What hurt more the Anaheim Angels mistake or the mistake that USC had in thier game
Posted: 1/6/2006 4:26:26 PM
Reggie Bush's lateral was VERY significant and I'm one of those people that refuses to compare mistakes from football to baseball or any other sport with a series. One mistake in the national championship game CAN alter momentum and cost a team the title. In baseball, one game is one of seven. As a Horns fan watching Reggie break that run open, I felt an instant surge of fear...then he f@$# up ROYALLY by attempting a lateral. THANK YOU GOD!!!! He wasn't the same the rest of the game. Either way, each team had mistakes, so to think that Texas got lucky is far from the case.

Stop complaining about Pete Carroll...here's a fact...Vince Young 267 yds passing and 200 yads rushing...who was gonna stop him whether it was going to be 50 or 90 yards to the endzone? face it, the two USC golden boys plus Lendale white and jarret were outperformed by ONE man. Texas took USC's best shots in the second half and beat the team everyone was already calling the all-time greatest. Where does that leave Texas now? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! check the history of this thread...all you doubters can swallow this win sideways!!! HAHAHAHAHA! HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!

When will The Saints move to San Antonio?
Posted: 11/3/2005 6:09:01 PM
I have friends in SA and they tell me that the outlook is that the team will be in SA next year but the league isn't interested in approving a move to SA's small market. What will proably happen is LA will get themselves a new team. The only person that could possibly want the Saints in SA is their owner Tom Benson who is a SA resident. If he chooses to move there, which he lobbyed for when he first bought the Saints, then more than likely owners will support him simply because no owner wants to be left out to dry after suffering such a financial disaster. Regardless, it'll be tough to get texans to cheer for any other team than the cowboys.

We beat Ohio State at their place in a game they prepared all offseason for, we then beat the crap out of Oklahoma who people still believed would beat us this year again, then we annihilated another top team in Texas Tech...we have two games left and unfortunately for VT we took care of business early...blame the schedule makers. and for those that believe that texas has an unfair advantage...hello? vt is an east coast team...they get the media attention that the rest of the country needs to earn. hmmm...yeah, duncan can shoot the 20 footer in both the NBA and FIBA, except in the NBA, that's still a two pointer. I'd rather him dunk all day for that kind of fare. Why don't international players play our WNBA teams? Looks like their styles of play and court dimensions are better matched.

that homerun by podsednik was unexpected, but it's nothing compared to the gibson homer...not even close. seriously, that whole situation in '88 still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. The only other homer in baseball history that does that for me is bobby thomson's shot heard 'round the world. not mazeroski, not joe carter. great game for baseball...my hat's off to the astros cuz they've played some great games this postseason. Guys, this is going seven, so don't pull that champagne out yet. i have my gripes about baseball nowadays, but she's still my wife...gotta love her.

Any doubters left out there? 52-17 against the 7th ranked team in BCS. That should get us to Pasadena unless there's a monumental collapse. this team is not going to allow the voters to get involved, they are going to do everything that they need to do right so that there won't be a doubt who USC needs to beat if they intend to retain their title. Of course, to every discussion, there are going to be exceptions to the rule, as someone mention Rasheed. But, GENERALLY speaking, in a well-aligned basketball set-up, centers are not your three-point shooters. Tim Duncan has mid-jumper range, but in international basketball, he's now a three point shooter. That's not the way pro basketball should be played. A team shouldn't believe they can win by chucking 40 threes a game, but that's what happens in international ball. I find it to be totally appalling, but others praise it. The three pointer shouldn't be an equalizer to fundamental basketball, in my opinion.

Boy, the storied history of the White Sox certainly has us Cubs fans jealous. 1917 isn't much different than 1907. Regardless, good luck to your team this year. Too bad no one cared enough about the Sox to think of reasons why the World Series has eluded you all for so long. Sox fans, enjoy your year. Even the Mets had a heyday in NY. GO CUBS!!!

My point exactly....Tim Duncan was shooting threes!!! Doesn't anyone else think that centers shouldn't have the range to score three points on a jumper? The three pointer is already controversial and now it's close enough for centers to shoot it? Eliminate the inside game, call any aggressive move to the basket an offensive foul, allow moving screens...it's a totally different game. We should send NBDL players that train specifically for this kind of basketball.

TINMAN----

Funny you mention the whole "what if" argument that always falls flat on its face cuz there are infinite "what ifs" that one could consider. Like these: USC was also one play away from being out of the championship game and Penn State was one play away from being legitimate. if VT beats the Hurricanes, then perhaps they'll be up to the Longhorns. Even beating BC won't get them the BCS points that the Longhorns would receive if they beat Texas Tech. Right now, VT is the odd man out. Remember, this Texas team was supposed to have won at least one title by now, but they underachieved. The talent is there, now the pieces are simply clicking. HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!

Baseball fans, How much do you know your pitches?
Posted: 10/20/2005 3:42:05 AM
All you need is a two seamer and a change-up. Curves, sliders, slurves (breaking pitches) are really used minimally because they put so much strain on a pitcher's arm. A pitcher's ability to change speeds is by far the best indicator of his success.

Chicago has looked incredible in the first 2 series and it's tough to judge the Astros because they played two playoff underachievers. I believe that no one this year can beat the Sox if they get the same kind of pitching as they did against the angels. These guys are definitely on a mission and I don't believe the Astros can stop that train. I hope for a great series, as usual. Great time for both team's fans.

Pujols shouldn't have had anything to hit, I'll take my chances with anyone else not named Bonds. Tech is a good team at best...they'll play the Horns tough. Their offense will generate some points if our D-Line doesn't get to the QB enough. But we have at least 3 draft picks on that line and quickness in the secondary. It can be a VERY bad day for Tech if they can't control the line of scrimmage. HOOK "EM HORNS!!
