This was another fun night at FunkyTown, thanks to all who came out. Now for a sad note. This was the night we were going to wear pink to show our support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One of our own, a good friend of mine, we always joked she was the female version of me and I the male version of her, Kelly Martin (morelife on POF) passed away today at 3:05pm from her battle with breast cancer. This is a very sad day today ...

As the host, I am expected to be accountable for what party images are uploaded. Obviously, No nudity is permitted, however the site also draws a line at too racy, lewd, sexually suggestive, obscene or plainly in poor taste - show some discretion and common sense. While being accountable for the upload of pictures, it is imperative that we also respect any member's wish to not have their picture posted. While it is sometimes difficult to obtain everyone's consent, should a member want a picture they are in removed all they need to do is email me and tell me which picture, and I'll remove it ASAP! Just show up and find the reserved tables, they should be marked, grab a seat and start chatting and mingling. The early you get there the better when it's a person's first time. Especially since this is an open to the public place so not everyone there is with the group. Once the band starts playing and everyone starts moving around dancing and mingling, it gets harder to know who is who and meet people.

I was just in contact with the owner of Side Pockets and they are expanding our reserved seating from 50 to 75 seats. There is a $3 cover charge starting at 8pm. Get there before 8pm and pay no cover charge! So get there early to save yours a few bucks ... So spread the word and invite anyone and everyone you chat with to join us. Also, check out the new member list and invite any new members that might catch your eye or grab your attention . We currently have 44 members signed up with a week to go before we gather so it looks like and I am expecting a great turn out our first time at SidePockets Independence.

Live band, one of the best in the area and yes there is a dance floor. I haven't been to this particular Side Pockets before but if it's set up like the others, than it's good sized. Try and get your fish to hit the sign up button if you can.

For this event I would suggest the American Inn in Independence, Missouri located at I-70 & Noland RD - Exit 12 4141 S. Noland Rd. Independence, MO 64055 Phone: (816) 373-8300. It looks like the rooms are $45 plus tax. There is also a Quality Inn & Suites which is a little nicer and pricier across the street at 4200 South Noland Rd Independence, MO 64055 Phone: (816) 373-8856 and it looks like the rooms there run around $80 plus tax.

The idea is just to hang out, meet some new people and to make some new friends and have fun while doing it. It's not about hooking up or finding someone to date. That is always a hope and dream but not the idea behind or the intent of these meet-ups . The reality is that probably 99.9% of the people that come, leave without finding a person of interest .

Just an FYI... The site has a rule that says once you have had 20 guests on the sign up list or combined 20 over all your events posted you can mass mail. If you want to help Judi get more people out to this event, than please click the sign me up button. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think she is able to send out a mass email on this one yet. So let's all hit the sign up button and push her over the edge so she can send out a mass email to get the word out and try to increase the attendance .

It is finally here and it's about time . I've gotten the AT&T settings update and now I am able to send and receive MMS messages. The iPhone is now complete and irreplaceable . I feel sorry for all those 2G users .

I was just curious as we had an event host, in our area, that got the boot and the word going around was that it was because he had been blocked to many times from the event mass emails. I post a lot of events in our area and surely don't want to get booted because of the mass emails. I can understand the Report User Link, but are those reports investigated or is an automated thing?

If I can figure out how to put me on as the host/co-host I will. In the meantime spread the work the event is still on. If you go into the thread where it allows you to add a co-host. The host is also listed there. Maybe if you remove the host of that list it will make the co-host the host... make any sense? Not sure if that will work or not...

This one is coming up fast and is just around the corner... Sign ups have started to pick up and I have had contact with a number of members who say they are coming out but haven't signed up. Don't let the sign ups fool you. We almost always have more people attend than sign up. It's not to late to make plans to join us. Just come out and hang out with the group. No pressure and no expectations. Just come and have some fun, meet some people and make some new friends...

This is the next weekend meet-up for the KC area POFer's... If your not doing anything, come on out and join us. Just come out and hang out. Maybe have a drink, they do have water and soda for the non-drinkers , and do some dancing. Mingle a little, meet some new people and maybe hopefully make a new friend or two. FunkyTown is always a good time and this place isn't like all the other bars/clubs in the area. So if you have no plans for this night, make some now to join us. You have nothing to lose, except a $5 cover charge and everything to gain...
