Image Ratings Decrease... How and Why?
Posted:

"would you explain that the ratings seem to freeze after a certain number?"
I dont think that it freezes.. but, what happens is when people view profiles for rating, I think that the newer submissions get to the top of the que, and get viewed first and more often.. After a while, I think your photo just 'gets burried' uinder all the newer submissions, and doesn't get viewed anymore!
Not sure on this, but it seems reasonable. I notice that when I am looking at photos to rate, they all seem to be from newer profiles....
And, I think that the reason you lose votes is simply if someone who previously voted for you deletes their profile, they take their vote with you.

Points dont add up??/

"There is now a cap on max points. Its around 6000 I think. Go buy someone some shots or something so you get down a bit and I bet they start accumulating again.
Cowboy "..
well, that makes perfect sense, since they are frozen at 6030!!
I guess frugality here does not pay!!
I was just hoping to save up enough points to buy a fancy background (5000 k ), plus have enough left over to buy drinks for the ladies...
Thanks for the tip cowboy, I will go on a buying spree now and see if that helps..

Has anyone else experienced this problem.
The additional points, 30 per day when you log on (used to be 60.. ) are no longer being acumulated for me. I log on several times a day, but I have noticed for at least the last week, they have been frozen at the same number.
Is it that we can no longer accumulate points unless we pay to become a serious member?
pof deflation
60 daily points reduced to 30 (now reduced to 0?)
30 days of stored mail now 20
one useful IM feature now reduced to zero

New Feature: Men/Women Who Think You are Super Hot
Posted:

This is the most stupid feature on pof!!
a List of wommen who "think I am hot".. well.. no.. it is a list of profiles randomly selected that pof "guesses might find me hot"... my list was surprisingly long considering that, although I may be a decent human being and a fun guy to be around, I do admittedly suffer from a condition known as "not-hot-ism". (yeah, I am a standard five as rated on the PoF pic rating scale). Now, also being naive, and a bit presumptious, when I first saw this feature, I ASSUMED that it was actually the women themselves who made this selection. Imagine the mutual embarrasment this caused when I imediately sent off a string of email to the women on my list, thanking THEM for selecting me as hot, and expressing how grateful and flattered I was. Of course, the few women who replied (I got mostly read/deleted to this barage) expressed the range of shock to dismay that they were on the list.. and (rather politely, using the code words "no chemistry) revealed, that despite being conscripted to that list without their consent or aproval, in reality, they did in FACT.. NOT find me HOT....
Maybe, if instead of PoF speaking for women (who, are obviously incapable of making this determination for themselves .. jeesh) and putting them in a list, why not just put a toggle on my profile for the women themselves to select who THEY think are hot .. similar to the "add to favorites " toggle ...OH wait... there already existed a way for them to do that.
Yes, if I want to know what women REALLY find me hot, I will check out my inbox, and I will check out who has personally chosen to add me to their favorites list.

Only the first page of my 'sent messages' is showing

"So you're saying that sending messages allowed you to toggle to additional pages to view additional messages?
Sounds an awful lot like you didn't have two pages of sent messages to view previously."
"I write about three emails a day, so I should have have several pages of sent emails"
I have noticed that PoF used to save messaged for a month or more. Now it seems to only save messages for about 2 weeks.. so, you may not have had as many saved messages still on the system as you thought..
Just a suggestion..
The question I have is.. why are messages only being saved for 2 weeks now instead of a month.. it may take more than 2 weeks to build up a trust with someone to meet, and I would like to keep track of all my corrospondence during that time..

Instant Messenger Has Been Discontinued By 3rd party Vendor

Hmmm
Well, I feel like an addict who has cut off.. I hadnt realized how much I had invsted and how dependent I had become to the IM in this site to initiating contact.
I have been actually suffering withdrawl... I now log on to this site out of habit, but the rush is gone... I have not been able to start a single correspondence since IM was removed, despite my futile attempts at email initiations..
Well, the pof withdrawl has passed, and I tried an alternative... I actually went out to a singles bar... and summoned up some resolve and talked with more women in one night than in the past month on this site.. (of course, that wasn't many.. and it certianly wasnt free... the bar tab could have provided a few months on a Pay Site )
Funny, because I turned to on line dating a couple of years ago as an alternative to the mounting frustrations with the bar scene..
The tagline for my profile on POF was a simple question..
"Is this (PoF) really better than the Bars"
well, without IM, the answer , sadly, is not any more!!

IM turns me off.

Well, after being here for a while with IM, and now for a while without it.. I can say (from my experience) that this site is now virtually useless.. IM was the only viable way to initiate contact with people on this site.... could initiate witty dioscourse form start..
Emails seem to be ignored ... unless perhaps you spend a lot of time composing a unique email, but I dont have that much life force left to be thoughtful and spend an hour composing an introduction, only to see UNREAD DELETED..
And, what is the purpose of putting "online now" next to a members profile.. It doesnt matter, you cant contact them.. It is just a tease, saying , "hey person on my favorites list, I see that you are on line NOW, I would like to chat with you since you are here... OH wait, I cant!!! I have no IM......"
That 'online now tag' is like putting fresh bananas in a starving monkeys cage, but having them locked in a plexiglass case.. He KNOWS they are there, he wants them, but he has no way to get them... Putting "onlineNOW" without IM is the worst possible tease...

Conspiracy Theories

of course, you realized that the steel did not have to melt to fail. Firstly, the impact of a large massive jet flying over 500 km per hour did a lot of structural damage, taking out many of the supporting beams ans columns. Therefore, te remaining structure had to bear more than its design load. Now, under high temperatures, even though it may not have melted, steel will lose its strengh, toughness and elastcity when exposed to high temperatures. The steel, when reaching this high temperatre (although still well below liquification (melting)) temerature, did enter a softer phase, that coupled with the increased loading from the compromised structure, caused the colums to fail (bend and buckle), not necessaril melt, to cause the structure to collapse. Note, this is the same thing blacksmiths do to to form shapes, they heat steel up to temperatures well below melting, but high enough to 'soften' the steel to easily bend and shape it.

why are hot guys so mean ????
Posted:
7/13/2005 11:54:16 AM
Hey......
what daman said...
I am a nice guy and not mean. But, I am not "hot".... you figure it out.......
And I also get very litle response here.... while the mean hot guys do!!!
It seems that hot (and horrible) has it all over not hot (no matter how good the person is)
If hot is your number one criteria, learn to live with the meanness that comes with it...

What the F---!

With all due respect to the demand for pictures, it doesn't matter. I have found that when I actually meet someone in person after viewing their photo on one of these sites, the person and their photo often bear very little resemblence to each other. People who are almost 40 posting their university grad picture from when they were 22, for example. The photo of the woman after undergoing a professional four hour makeover taken years before may be unrecognisable as the person sitting across the table from you in the coffee shop. Or the photo of the shirtles guy with the six pack abs who once worked out religiously ; now years later after the promotion and innumerable buisness luncheons, with his heavy paunch, double chin and thinning hair ..well, you get the picture...
In fact, I find that posting photos that do not reflect you current appearence is, in a way, a form of deceit no different than boldface lying.
