Are all men Co-Dependent???
Posted: 1/25/2009 7:23:56 AM
Bang!
I usually go for years between relationships. I don't mind being on my own at all, and I'm much more comfortable being friends for a while and staying independent until I'm thoroughly convinced.

If a woman approached you cold asking for your phone number what would you think?
Posted: 8/9/2008 8:48:37 AM
A girl approached me in a parking lot once and started talking to me like she was interested. I was thrilled. But it turned out she was trying to sell me something.
There was another time when a store employee did that in a flirty way, but again, she was trying to make a sale.
I'm not sure what I would do if someone approached me and was genuinely interested. Would I even make the connection that she was interested?

Just curious...how is your dating experience here at POF
Posted: 7/6/2008 7:42:26 PM
I haven't met anyone either. I've tried sending out tons of first contacts to see if anyone bit, and I've tried being really selective and only contacting people that I thought might go somewhere, and neither approach worked. Lots of read/deletes. Very few ever contacted me, and most of those were just all wrong. The few email exchanges I got going ultimately went nowhere. Who would have thought this would be so difficult? Just like in person, huh?
Socializing is so frustrating.

Hahaha... The vast majority of movies ever made are better than Indy. Sahara is just one of them.

I didn't have a problem with old Indy, or the aliens, or even Area 51. The problem was the script. It was written so badly, with everyone treated like cardboard caricatures and the endless one-liners without any attempt to create a plausible reality. You can do aliens and make it real, and make the characters seem like real people. They did it in the first Indy. (just substitute biblical lore for aliens) The script for this one was slapdash, like Lucas and Spielberg didn't even think it was that important.
Go see Iron Man if you want to see something good.

Indiana Jones was the worst thing I've seen in a long time. (well, that's not quite true. I did see I Know Who Killed Me...) I think The Mummy and Sahara were way better than Indy.

What's the Light Rail For Again!?
Posted: 6/2/2008 11:34:55 AM
Have you driven down the Mesa leg of the light rail construction? Businesses along that corridor are going out of business right and left. Granted, it isn't the greatest area anyway, but the construction pushed all these places right over the edge.

What's the Light Rail For Again!?
Posted: 6/1/2008 11:07:22 AM
Light rail exists to take all the money away from the bus system, which really needs it, and to line the pockets of everyone involved in the construction and real estate, who also happen to be the same people running the state and city governments who approved it.
These are the same guys that sabotaged the Mesa stadium location at the north intersection of 101 and 202, in an effort to have it located in downtown Phoenix, by claiming that it was in Sky Harbor's flight path and its height would interfere with landing planes, even though there are buildings and mountains in that path that are taller than the stadium would have been. (But then Glendale got it, ha ha)
The fat cats are just trying to funnel college kids into the downtown area to make some money, except that downtown is small and ghetto, and Tempe has everything the kids could ever want within walking distance.
Boondoggle.

Summer in Phoenix is a good reason to sleep while the sun is up. If you're in a situation where you can live that way, that is.

Besides sex and sleeping

What else is there besides sleeping and sex play? Um, folding my laundry? Watching TV before sleeping? Watching TV before sex. Watching TV after sex. Watching TV during sex.

Why's it so hard to get a discussion going in here?
Posted: 4/21/2008 1:05:48 AM
Don't worry, rock and atmosphere can only get so hot under 12 hours of sunlight, and we almost reach the limit in the summer already. I doubt we'll have to worry about it getting much hotter with global warming.
Most of the surface of the earth wouldn't change in temperature at all. The areas most affected would be earth's heat sinks, the poles. There's probably room for the poles to get as hot as Arizona, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
If it gets bad enough, the melting ice could change sea currents and start an ice age, but we should stay clear here, so we can just sit back and watch the show. And who knows, maybe we'll get more water from the melting glaciers covering Nevada and Utah.
Keep in mind, this'll happen whether global warming is man made or not. There isn't a whole lot we can do. We are currently in a natural warming period between ice ages, and there will be another one. Maybe if I live for a few thousand more years I'll get to see it.

You lived in Phoenix in the 60s, 70s and 80s if...
Posted: 2/13/2008 10:49:58 PM
I saw Star Wars when it first came out at the Plitt Cine Capri when I was 7. I saw Close Encounters at the Plitt Palms. I also saw movies at the Nace Bethany, and Nace Kachina (later Harkins), and lots of movies at the General Cinemas Metro I, II, III (across the way from the former ice skating rink, next to the former Farrells.)
But let's face it, the theaters around today absolutely blow those old ones out of the water. :D
I remember all of that stuff in the OP. It's kind of strange to think how much has changed, and how much bigger Phoenix is than it used to be. We're only 20 years behind L.A.

looking to lose weight with no gimmicks?
Posted: 12/4/2007 11:54:48 PM
I'm using pretty much the same method to lose weight, and I've been having some success the last few months. Tom Venuto has an online book that really helped a lot. There are no secrets in it that everybody doesn't already know, but it spelled things out in a way I could understand. I still have a long way to go, but I'm patient. :D

SOS - I have strange vertigo..........
Posted: 12/4/2007 11:49:07 PM
I get those vertigo symptoms at certain times of the year. The doctor says mine are caused by allergies. I've always had allergies, and even had tubes in my ears when I was little. So it makes sense. I also have a ringing in my ears that I've had all my life. Maybe my ears are trying to call me. :D

Workable pickup lines to use on a guy
Posted: 12/4/2007 1:48:45 AM
Has a woman ever walked up to you in the middle of a store, or in the park, or at the coffee shop.....and struck up a conversation with you? If so, what was her opening line?
That's just crazy talk. Things like that never happen in nature. I have had women come up and flirt with me, but they were always trying to sell me something. (No, not themselves.)
I don't know how far any woman would get by striking up a conversation with me, because I'm automatically suspicious. I'm waiting for the sales pitch. A few times I found myself hoping that maybe, just maybe she didn't have something to sell, and she was interested in talking to me. But sure enough she lays it on me, and I'm out of there like a shot.
Why would anyone just start talking to a complete stranger anyway? What could they possibly be basing their interest on? I have never seen that go well.

OF COURSE THAT IT SELF COULD BE A LIE LOL
You're right. Everything I say is a lie. But if that's true, then I wouldn't be lying, but if it's a lie then it would be true, and would therefore be a lie. But it can't be a lie because it would be true.
ONE REASON I HAVE A AGE RULE IS BECAUSE I WANNNA GET MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS ONE DAY, OLDER GUYS I HAVE FOUND JUST DONT WANT THOSE THINGS.
IF I'M WRONG PLEASE SAY SO
See, that's an unfair generalization. You can't assume that about somebody just because of their age. There are older guys (god, am I really considered older?) that haven't had a chance to get married and have kids yet, but want to. There are guys that have had kids already and want to stop. There are guys that wouldn't mind more. There are guys that never want kids, even younger guys. Assuming such a thing about someone based strictly on age is a pretty huge leap, and you could be missing out on the perfect guy just because the number isn't what you were expecting. I'm not saying that's me (how would I know that?), but it's something you should consider a little more carefully than that. I don't mind if you have an age rule (it's only fair, I want kids someday, so that places an upper limit on what ages I'm willing to consider), and if there are reasons for your rule that you don't want to share that's totally cool, but really...
Woops, is this the introduce yourself thread? I'm so bad...

I love cuddling. It doesn't have to lead to sex to be good, but you have to understand that that is a hazard. As we all know, spooning leads to forking.

Top 10 Things That Made Me Click **NEXT** When I Was Using Dating Sites
Posted: 10/24/2007 1:20:04 AM
4. Group pictures. You know I've always wondered why women do this. It's hard to make you out in the crowd sometimes, sometimes it's not if you had a individual photo. However, and guys don't tell me this isn't true, we look at these most times and a common reaction is "Who's the cute one next to you."
It's true. That thought shot through my head more than once.
Group shots are the worst. It makes me think the whole group is looking for a guy to pass around, or better yet (uh, I mean worse...), to share at the same time.
Or how about the pictures of their dogs? Uh, I really wasn't considering dating your dog, but thanks for the offer.

Who won a Ladmo bag??
Posted: 10/22/2007 7:48:41 AM
I never got a chance to win a Ladmo bag, but I used to watch Wallace and Ladmo religiously as a kid. You don't see kid's shows like that anymore. It's a shame no local TV stations want to put in that kind of effort. But there's Nickelodeon and Disney Channel and Cartoon Network now, so what kids would watch it? I guess it's a bygone era.

To love and lose
Posted: 10/6/2007 8:29:25 AM
"Tis better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all"
To the people who disagree with this, you have to understand something about love, which is that, ultimately, every love story is a tragedy. It's a tragedy because it has to end at some point, one way or another, whether it's brief or lasts a long long time. There are no exceptions to this. It's just like life. You might as well say, well if I have to die, I would rather I was never born. You aren't going to find much joy in life if you were never born. Once you accept this concept, I think it's a lot easier to take.
I say, when love comes, enjoy every second of it with the full knowledge that it'll end someday. Then you can keep what you got out of the relationship without letting the pain poison it.
