The real Noah's Ark.
Posted: 3/19/2008 4:55:00 PM
And here we have the Ark being descoverd in 1960 with announcements in Time Magazine. A supposed National Park set up so tourists can come see it. It's on teh web so therefore it must be true. (please note I am being sarcastic).

http://www.arkdiscovery.com/noah's_ark.htm

And here is one in June 2006 by a team from Texas
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=2133311&page=1
Then we have another article which I will only quote part of, you can read the rest if you want.

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=50977

The man most responsible for promoting this location as the ark's actual resting place from the Bible was Ron Wyatt, who died of cancer in 1999 after years of searching for biblical antiquities, also claiming to have found the remains of Pharaoh's chariots that chased Moses through the Red Sea, and the "true" location of Mount Sinai in Arabia.

In 2004, Wyatt's widow, Mary Nell Wyatt Lee, published a history of the discovery in a book titled, "The Boat-Shaped Object on Doomsday Mountain."

She writes that on Dec. 12, 1987, "it was the official decision of members of [Turkey's] Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of Internal Affairs, and researchers from Ataturk University, among others, that the boat-shaped formation did indeed contain the
remains of Noah's Ark!"

It's obvious that people truly wish to find what they believe to be true. Yet many have been wrong in their claims. Lets not jump the gun and believe yet another article claiming this time it's really true.

Has anyone ever been visited from beyond by a deceased loved one?
Posted: 2/14/2008 2:55:11 AM
Mine was in a dream too, yet I know he was there.

3 days after he died my son came to me and kissed me on the top of the head, said Momma I'm not coming back from Iraq. I remember saying back to him, as usualy son a day late and a dollar short, they already told us.

It is so clear I know he was coming to say goodbye.

30 pieces of silver
Posted: 2/3/2008 6:52:55 AM
Going with the idea that God or Jesus can appear to us in whatever form he chooses. Isn't it possible. (for those that believe) for his image to appear as we would recognize it. Not as he would have appeared when he was alive?

Again it is not a debate about IF he lived, what he looked like, it is all about the belief of the seller and buyer.

Good point about it being more like the story about drawing lots for his clothes.

That RD is too true especially if the purchaser truly believes they are buying an image of Christ or Mary. After all I do believe the bible says something about a rich man chances and a camel going through the eye of a needle, I am sure there are those here that know the quote better.

familes can not send bibles to soldiers in middle east.

I went out looking to find the list of things that are prohibited. Here is the site that I found.

http://www.bootsonground.com/soldier-restricted-items.htm

You will note it says:Religious materials contrary to Islam in bulk quantities (E2)

Now I take that to mean you may send your soldier a bible, you just can't send a bunch of them all at once.

Passionateman,

The question isn't really "Is it Jesus" the question is "If one believed it was Jesus in the object" We all know that believing something and proving it can sometimes be very difficult.

Again I see where someone has found Jesus in a piece of marble. They are planning on selling it on ebay.

The topic I am looking to discuss is. IF the person truly believes in Jesus and thinks that his image is coming through on something. Do you feel that auctioning those things off is like Judas selling him for 30 pieces of silver?

OMG Westboro to picket Heath Ledger's funeral
Posted: 1/26/2008 9:06:38 AM
Lola,

here is a utube site that has the WBC on it, they were protesting a funeral in Kileen Texas. ( Home of Fort Hood). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGGJfwk0vWA&feature=related

mccellia,

In most states they have now enacted a law that the protestors must be 500 feet away from the funera. In Michigan they can only be there for 45 minutes so they are really limited.

Hopefully the judgement for invasion of privacy will stand and the money judgement will severly limit their ability to travel. There are many things they post on their site that they never follow through with.

They had posted that they were going to picket my son's funeral but they never showed up. Luckily we had 150 Patriot Guard Riders that stood as a buffer anyway so we would have never seen them.

Lola,

They post it on their web site www.godhatesfags.com

And they aren't banning the Marines, it would be the Officers in command that would be telling the Marines to stay away.

Phelps group is a bunch of lawyers and they really hope for a physical attack. Then they sue whatever city/county that is suppose to be protecting them from these evil people. Win damages to put in their *collection plate* so they can travel to more funerals and such.

what do you do/say when someone dies who didn't believe John 3:16
Posted: 1/20/2008 7:19:02 PM
How about just "I'm so sorry".....Or I am so sorry about your ...son,daughter, husband, wife, sister, brother....whatever the relationship.

How about I am so sorry about ___________ fill in the blank with the name.

And we were asked for opinions, just having gone through this, it is my opinion as the grieving parent....that sorry for your loss hurt me more and seemed to minimize who he was.

My son was an Atheist, so with concern for what he would want, we made sure there was no religious reference during the funeral service. This concerned the Army Chaplin but he did as was requested.

My daughter, son and my deseased son's wife got up and talked about what Alex had ment to them.

I have to say I have a real aversion to the statement "I'm sorry for your loss" If you are attending the funeral I assume you know the name of the person you are there to see. To me "I'm sorry for your loss" is trite.

I think as with any time there is a death of a loved one, to sit and listen. Or to share your feelings about the person that has died is the most comforting.

The real Noah's Ark.
Posted: 1/11/2008 4:34:28 PM
According to the Bible Noah was on the Ark for 370 days. That would mean even if he did load up young animals they would have reached mature size before being unloaded from the ship.

Asain Elephants eat between 150 and 200 lbs of food daily now times that by 370 days it comes to between 27.75 and 37 Tons of food for just one. They also drink between 30-50 gallons of water a day. Maybe, just possibly they could reach over the side of the ship and get water? I think not.

Lions aren't too bad, they would only require 5 1/2 tons of food, but of course that would go bad, so maybe they just let them catch the rabbits and rats that were multiplying on the ship.

Another point, most rodents need to chew to keep their teeth worn down. So lets envision a bunch of rabbits, rats, squirrels and other assorted types gnawing on a wooden ship for a year.

I just can't see how all this would be possible.

New Testament
1Co 6:15-20; 7:1,2
You know that your bodies are parts of the body of Christ. Shall I take a part of Christ’s body and make it part of the body of a prostitute? Impossible! Or perhaps you don’t know that the man who joins his body to a prostitute becomes physically one with her? The scripture says quite plainly, “The two will become one body.” But he who joins himself to the Lord becomes spiritually one with him. Avoid immorality. Any other sin a man commits does not affect his body; but the man who is guilty of sexual immorality sins against his own body. Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory. A man does well not to marry. But because there is so much immorality [from the Greek word porneia, Strongs #4202], every man should have his own wife, and every woman should have her own husband. (TEV)

In the last passage listed above, Paul commends marriage as a means to avoid "fornication" (KJV), "immorality" (NAB, NIV, REB, TEV), "sexual immorality" (NRSV), which is a translation of the Greek word porneia (Strong's # 4202). That Greek word and its related Greek words porneuo (Strong's # 4203), pornos (Strong's # 4205), and ekporneuo (Strong's #1608) are discouraged throughout the New Testament, as in the following verses:

Love on fire,

This group only hides behind the name of religion. If you do a search on the web most Baptist churches make sure they let everyone know they are not affiliated with this group at all.

I read a letter from one of his sons that escaped the family, he stated that his father was a man that would find something to hate no matter what. So religion is only a platform for him to spew his brand of intolerance.

Unfortunately in that video you see brainwashing at it's worst. Another generation of haters being trained.

And yes that is Phelps group.

I don't disagree with their right to voice their opinion. My son died for all of us to have the freedoms that we have. I DO have a problem with where they feel the need to voice their opinion.

The funeral of anyone is not the place, I don't care if they are standing on public property. The thing they yell are ment to inflame which I do believe is illegal in most states.

Yet another Church Scandle

Ok as a Pagan I am probably going to have to duck and run for cover on this one.

Unfortunately there are bad people and they seem to find a way to bilk truly good people out of lots of money. This man happens to be one of them. He may, and mind you not being a mind reader I don't know. Feel that as long as he asked for forgiveness and tried to be a better man then God would forgive him. I don't know, I just think it's sad that he put himself in a postion to loudly blare he was a Christian then let everyone that believed he had the answers down so throughly.

justacheckin

Ok I'm confused. First you say:

It is not, however, a reflection on the teachings of Jesus. It does not detract from the fact God has a hand in all matters on earth and heaven. And it is not a reflection on christiananity as a whole. It just goes to show, IMO, that the enemy (satan) does his best work within church circles.

Then you say:

Pride, greed and immorality are, admittedly, alive and well within many church circles. Afterall, the leaders are human. And if Satan can cause them to fall it will most certainly have a dommino effect.

So did God lead this man to the ministry? Or did Satan?

The people of Nod
Posted: 11/6/2007 7:20:25 PM
Genesis 6:1-4 says: "When mankind began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful and they married any of them they chose. So the Lord said, 'My Spirit will not remain in mankind indefinitely, since they are mortal. They will remain for one hundred and twenty more years.' The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown." (Today's New International Version).

I guess from the above passage, that angels or who knows what, had sex with Adam and Eve's daughters and there were children born of those unions.

Star,

Tried to message you but your restrictions won't let me. Glad to know there are other PGR members on here.

WBC doesn't come to MI anymore as there is a warrant out for their arrest. The city of Flint billed them $5,ooo.oo for the added police coverage that they demanded for a funeral they planned on attending there. Apparently they figured out the abbrivation for MI.

Romanticoptimist,

That's exactly what they do. Here is a wonderful video I found that also includes Phelps group.

The PGR has to be invited by the family in order to attend. That is why we aren't considered counter protesters. We are invited guests at the funeral.

Maybe funeral homes should start keeping some pipe and drape handy... These losers show up, block their view from the sidewalk... Don't raise a hand to them until they make it legit for you to do so.

This group was scheduled (according to their website) to protest my son's funeral. They just got confused as to what state it was in. Apparently their early education didn't help them with the abbrievations on States confusing MI with MO.

Anyways a wonderful group (whick I later joined) asked if we would like them to act as a buffer between the protesters and the funeral. They are called the Patriot Riders.

150 of them showed up with their motorcycles and cars holding flags they stood between those of us at the funeral and anyone that would want to protest. How wonderful to see so many that would be willing to drive so far, just to block us from those that ment harm.

I have since been to funerals as a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and have seen this group in action. Luckily we had enough members there that the family never saw or heard them.

We have also found law enforcement to be very supportive to what we are doing.

Their protest is not directed at the Synder family personally, but the policies that they believe brought about the death of his son. Did they invade the funeral, or protest out on the public street in front of the funeral home? Intentionally inflicted severe emotion distress? I have seen nothing where they attacked this guy personally, just their belief that dead soldiers are just god's will being done.

I have had the misfortune to have witnessed these people up close. And if they can get the phone number, they do call the family members to shout their filth right to the people grieving. I know one young wife with 2 small children that was dealing with the loss of her husband and these *Christians* invaded her home by telephone to let her know what they thought.

Artz

With a congregation of only 100 how does this church make money?

Ironically they make their money by suing township governments that don’t protect them from attack when they do their protesting. I think it’s only fitting they should suffer the same fate.

We have had discussions before about WBC and in MHO they are a wacked out group that really has no business calling themselves Christian yet they do business under that banner.

A grieving father in Maryland sued the church for invasion of privacy because they protested his sons funeral. They found the group liable to the tune of 11 million dollars.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071031/ap_on_re_us/funeral_protests;_ylt=AgeHj2bfmCtKNtw3aNcKI_QDW7oF

Do you agree with the verdict, or do you believe that they have the right to express their religious beliefs at anytime or any place they so choose?

Decisions and Karma
Posted: 10/29/2007 2:33:45 PM
Today I made a decision that caused me a lot of pain. I rescued a severly abused dog about 6 months ago. I have worked with him trying to bring him back around without the success I had hoped for. Today I made the decision to put him to sleep. A lot of though went into the decision yet still I cried as he was put down.

Do you ever wonder if the pain we feel is the Karma payment for errors in a previous life, or are we getting it wrong and we are going to have to redo it?

Or do you believe we pick the life we have, before we get here for the learning experience of it?

The link is also in the Original Post. It was the basis for the question. But thank you for reposting it for those that don't start at the beginning

Apparently there are some that don't seem to believe that the Religious Tolerance site is really a good reference. I personally have found it to be very fair and is one of my favorite resourcesl

Unfortunately what is see as an arguement here is there can't be any before Jesus because Jesus was real and the rest of them weren't. I would really hope that people would do a little research first.

Also how could any of them be before the advent of man...if they are recorded? Who built their statues ? Other Gods?

The Treaty of Tripoli:
Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Has there been a song that really touched you spiritually?

Since the death of my son, this song brings tears to my eyes every time

Who You'd Be Today: By Kenny Chesning

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
Wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you every where I go

See your smile, see your face
Hear you laughing in the rain
Still can’t believe you’re gone

It ain’t fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away

God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I’ve been through
Just knowing that no one could take your place

Sometimes I wonder who’d be today

Would you see the world
Would you chase your dreams
Settle down with a family
I wonder what would you name your babies

Some days the sky’s so blue
I feel I can’t talk to you
I know it might sound crazy

It ain’t fair you died to young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away

God knows how I miss you
All the hell I’ve been through
Just knowing no one could take your place

Sometimes I wonder who’d be today

Today
Today
Today
Today
Today
Today

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
Wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know I will see you again someday

Deathbed visions/experiences
Posted: 9/30/2007 12:53:30 PM
Ravenstar,

My grandmother fell and broke her hip. That was the beginning of the end for her, she never returned home after that.

While in the hospital she kept telling everyone she was waiting for Bill. Now her husband AND her oldest son were named Bill and everyone assumed she was talking about her son. Yet when my Uncle Bill got there she still kept saying she was waiting for Bill.

One evening the whole family was visiting her and all of a sudden she looked at the end of the bed and said "Oh there you are Bill I've been waiting for you." Now mind you there was no one standing at the end of the bed. Then she just closed her eyes and very quietly went to sleep, never waking up again.

It stuck with me that we don't die alone. Our loved ones come for us.

The male may give the initial seed, but it is the female that nurtures and breathes life into the seed by breathing herself and feeding herself.

Not to argue semantics but the male only has the fertilizer...the woman has the *seed*

I can only imagine what *thinking man* thought when he realized that a reproducti1on was coming out of the woman. Of course they would feel that the giver of life was female. I don't think they had it figured out waaaaaaaay back then that it took two to make that baby.

I can understand your need to find someone of your own Religious make up. Yet POF is not going to get involved in the whole selection process. There are those that would like to find people that love/ hate cats, dogs, gold fish, cooking, cars etc.

We all have specifics that are important in the make up of a person we want to be with. You just have to look, hang out on the forums that you think might attract people of your ilk and don't post things that IMHO consider a flame, that is looking to get doused.

example:
Well, I see and it doesn't take long to figuar out its a arguement they want. I am interested in finding partners in faith to chat about what is real, and right.

The problem of POF's Non-Religious Option
Posted: 9/4/2007 3:25:48 AM
Seatle,

I guess my question to you is, how important is it to have a spiritual woman in your life.

From what I have seen on here, most that don't have an affliation with any church or special religious branch, don't seem to be as concerned with the spiritual make up of their partner. I did check your profile and didn't see this mentioned at all in what you were looking for.

I think those that are devout go further in their descriptions of themselves because it is an important part of what they want in a life partner.

POF gives the outline it's up to us to fill in the blanks.

Spells..need Bad Luck Breakers
Posted: 8/7/2007 7:43:20 AM
It is never fun to have bad luck, but sometimes you have to look beyond what has happened and try and figure out what MIGHT have happened if she hadn't been stopped.

How many people have complained about missing a flight, only to have that flight crash and all aboard die? So sometimes what appears to be bad luck was actually just a stumbling block to help change directions.

I like Feral's spell and think that could help. I also agree with give good out to the world and it will be returned. As the Christians like to say Breads upon the water.

Would it be possible for you to voulenteer in the kitchen or something for a week, just to see what the camp was all about? I really feel like tours and such don't really show the *bones* of what the teaching is all about.

I think, especially since this is not a church you are affliated with, and I gather you really don't have interaction with the congregation or the pastor to a point that you would have a good knowledge of HOW they teach their religion. Spending some time at the camp might be a good idea...

Funerals and Religion

This question came up because my son died in the Miliary, he had to order his dog tags from somewhere off base, as they wouldn't put Atheist on the tag.

When he died we had no church affliation so we requested that the Military Chaplin preform the ceremony. We made sure we impressed on him that there would be no scripture read, nor references to God (no matter what our personal beliefs were).

The poor Chaplin really fought to get God into the ceremony, using the fact that others would derive comfort from the *good book*. We did stand firm, and I will give him credit he did honor our wishes. But I did wonder how others would handle it and with it being such a difficult time for the families if some felt they might not cave into the minister/preacher/rabbi's insistance to invoke the name of some sort of God.

And Can it Be,

I wasn't asking about what a Religious leader should do if contacted outside the funeral service itself.

I was just looking for what people would want for themselves. Yes they have the option to leave a will, unfortunately many die young without a will so everyone is left guessing what is best. So if you can, put yourself in that position..what would you want to happen for YOU? If you left no written instructions?

If you are an atheist, or a member of a faith that doesn't go along with the faith of your family. And you die. Who do you think should be taken into account with regards to the funeral service.

Should it be Your wishes...(the deceased) or should it be what the family wants and will get comfort from?

Should the priest/minister/rabbi or other spiritual leader use this as an opportunity to push the religon of choice? Or to talk about the deceased with little from whatever good book they have?

LdynBLK,

I truly hope you never suffer at the hands of a violent man. To put any of the blame on her is beyond thinking. No one really believes the person they love is going to murder them. Foolish yes, but partly responsible for her own murder? I think not!

Do pets go to Heaven?

Mak

The post really wasn't aimed at you, and I am sorry about the loss of your pet, no matter what your belief system is, it is always hard to say goodbye to a friend.

If you really are interested in what my thoughts are...and I guess even if your not I am posting them.

I think we all are made up of energy, so when the earthly body can no longer go on, for whatever reasons, the energy is what goes on to another place. So would we see fields of cows and have spiders crawling up our legs, I doubt it. But then again I believe in reincarnation, so that energy is going to enter another body to keep learning the lessons that life has to offer from all aspects.

If someone derives comfort from feeling as if their pet has gone to heaven and will be waiting for them. WHY does it become so necessary to be mean spirited enough to try and disabuse her of that?

Obviously there is no actual proof that we will be meeting up with family and friends once we die, but I have to say it's a really nice thought. There are those that have passed including some of my favorite pets that I really would like to see on the other side of death.

This is also something that brings me comfort when I think about my furkids that have passed on.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

How to respond to well meaning people
Posted: 6/3/2007 3:40:22 PM

Would it be better if people don't say nothing at all? and talk to you as nothing happened?

No, but these responses normally come when I am talking about him.

I have a personal need to keep him alive through mentioning his name. Relating stories about who he was. We were all raised with pat answers to give in these cases and I think that maybe many of us. Me included fall back on them without any thought as to how it may affect those we are attempting to comfort.

How many of us have walked into a funeral home, hugged the people that are grieving and asked "How are you" ...well duh.....if we really thought before we said that, we would KNOW how they are.

One of the kindest things that was said to me, was from a complete stranger...their response was..." I'm so sorry....please share with me, tell me about your son"

How to respond to well meaning people
Posted: 6/3/2007 11:08:09 AM
A year ago my son died in Iraq. A year to most of us seems a very long time. Yet I am still grieving terribly.

My problem is with well meaning people. And the sometimes foolish things they say.

1. He is in a better place. (Sorry but he was only 22 not critically ill and was just recently married how is death a better place?)

2. He wouldn't want you to grieve like this.

3. He is watching over you.

4. You really need to start getting over this.

5. There is a reason for everything and it will all work out for the best.

That is just a few of the things that people seem to think is a proper answer.

Any advice on how to respond to those things without ripping someone apart?

De Ja Vu...

Is it possible that De Ja Vu is the little hints we are suppose to pay attention to from when we reincarnate. The connections we are suppose to make?

Just finished reading Journey of Souls by Mchael Newton, PhD. has a very interesting take on this kind of thing.
