Excellent - a thread on the genius that is Alice Cooper! He's done some great stuff recently - check out Dirty Diamonds for starters. He is a hugely influential performer, not just the obvious Marilyn Manson but also bands such as the Sex Pistols were huge fans. As for the stage show, well it simply can't be beaten.

Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame
Posted:
9/19/2008 7:40:54 AM
Having recently seen the Pistols I can absolutely confirm that they ARE musicians. They are a very competant band and great showmen. This band are a vital piece of British music history - they gave a stagnant music scene (Led Zeppelin, ELP et al) a good kick up the collective ass. Music in the 70s was all about showing off how many notes you could play at once with no regard to their fans and punk corrected that with a return to simplicity, tunes and energy. We need something like that again today with all the vocal gymnastics that are going on from the likes of Mariah Carey etc. Bring on the revolution!

Do men like women to be keen or do they like them to play hard to get?

If a woman plays the 'treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen' card with me I just get bored and move on. It absolutely doesn't work with me in the slightest.

Baldness - is it an issue?
Posted:
9/8/2008 3:12:27 AM
Well, I'm 'starting' to go a bit bald
and I've definitely found that it doesn't put the ladies off. I thought it would be a huge disadvantage when I became single a few years ago after 20 years of marriage. I was very wrong and am delighted that the trend is for being bald - how handy!
It's also great low maintenance, out of shower.... hair dry! No towelling and blow drying! It's damn cold though, has anyone mentioned that yet?

Press announced of major discovery on Mars...

Where did you get that 'fact' from? Radio travels at 192720 times less than the speed of light? That makes a mockery of all radar theory for a start! I think Mr Skolnik would be very interested. I think you may just be wrong there.

Why Do Bald Blokes With Tattoos Appeal To Women So Much?
Posted:
8/21/2008 3:27:47 AM
I'm pleased about the bald bit! Not so pleased about the tattoo bit as I would never consider getting one. I still believe that tattoos put people automatically into a different social 'class' (and I use that word with trepidation). It is a fact that some employers and social occasions would preclude a heavilly tattooed person. For that reason alone I would not dream of it.

It's that time of year again, spiders,
Posted:

Spiders are fine I don't have a problem with them in this country. Although, I have read that we actually have some of the most venomous spiders on the planet, they just can't penetrate our skin! I will happily pick them up and pop them out of the window if they are of the 'trip-over-them' size.
Wolf spiders are found across the globe and vary enormously in their diversity. We only have innocuous ones in this country.
Incidentally, for the arachnophobes amongst you (stop reading now!), everybody ingests spiders in their sleep from time to time! It happens. Ever woken up with that 'crunchy' feeling on your teeth? Yep, it was a spider breakfast! Yes, they do crawl on your face at night too, not particularly pleasant but harmless. Spare a thought for those people in countries with the Camel Spider - look up what they do if you want to be afraid!

Geeks or Chavs?

Oh yes, geek every time. At least geeks are intelligent. Jade Goody and Jordan (to use an earlier posted example) are my least ideal type of woman and sum up chav to me.

For those that have been married before - would you do it again?
Posted:
8/21/2008 12:51:39 AM
I was married 20 years then my ex leaves me and my son for another man taking our life savings with her. Then she uses the fact that we were married to clean me out via the courts, taking everything I have ever worked towards - half the house, the biggest investments, most of my pension. All because we were married, she had run up massive debts and courts are not interested in 'blame'. Would I give anyone the opportunity to take over half of what's left in similar circumstances? I don't think so!
Aside of that point (obviously still tinged with a little bitterness) the question: is marriage really necessary? What does it actually prove these days? What are the benefits? Hell, there's not even a tax benefit now.

What's in your iPod
Posted:

Lots of tiny integrated circuits on a printed circuit board, some miniature wires and a rechargeable battery.
..... now, how does this iPod go back together again?

Real punk revived??
Posted:

It's time for a new rebellion. Punk was all about killing off the self-indulgent noodling dinosaurs that comprised Genesis, Led Zeppelin etc. Oh dear! They appear to be making a bit of a comeback! Quick, let's kill 'em off again and do a proper job this time.

q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no?
Posted:

No offence intended towards any tattooed ladies out there but I find them a major turn off. They look rough and portray a low social standing on men, even worse on a woman... in my opinion.

This excellent band have a new album out and it's fantastic. How wonderful to see them back after 15 years. They never split up, just went into hibernation. Check this album out if you like good fun music that is both witty and uplifting.

Fantastic band. They reformed a few years ago and brought out a cracking live album. Not sure if they're still around now though.
