Thanks, Shebbie. I hated to miss the last one, but the all-day family reunion wore me out. Looking forward to making it to this one! Lora

Hi Mike... I'm sure you'll have a good time!

Shebbie... still hoping I'll be able to make it after the family reunion... after a day with family I should be good and ready for a drink anyway

Thanks, GMan85615, I appreciate your comments.

Indiallias, I put the cancer ribbon on my page in memory of my grandmother. It doesn't change anything, true, but it does add another dimension to my profile. You are right that most people know someone that has died from cancer... I know several other people who have lost the battle with the disease, but I don't have them all listed. I put my grandparents because I had such a close relationship with them--my grandmother in particular who died just over a year ago after a very prolonged fight. So, in my case at least, it tells you that I am a sappy sentimental person. (:

It can also be a point of commonality... or a conversation starter. I really can't speak for anyone else, but these are my thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to view my profile and ask.

I would suggest that instead of saying "I am easy going," give an example. Say "I'm the type person who would......." Vague phrases like easy going, open-minded, and simple things in life mean different things to different people. Giving examples will fill out your profile some and give the reader a glimpse of your personality.

Good luck !!

Time to Edit? You tell ME! :)

In addition to the above, my advice would be to focus more on your qualities and less on what you want in a man. Unless you are being swamped with responses, you can decide on a case by case basis whether he meets your criteria.

I would also suggest leaving off the physical description. Since you have a picture, it's rather redundant.

Good luck !

Leib, Thanks! I had actually intended to delete some of those, but forgot when editing my profile. I'm not really sure about the hunting analogy, but I do understand that I don't want to give the impression that I am too busy to welcome someone new into my life.

Thanks for taking the time to give me your feedback.

John, I thought about that and decided not to. My thought is that I would rather decide myself whether a guy is what I am looking for than for him to. For instance, if I put "must have a good sense of humor" someone might read that and think "oh, I'm not that funny." Whereas if we just started communicating, I might think he's hilarious or decide a sense of humor isn't that important. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't like limiting things... I prefer staying open to the possibilities. Does that make sense? Should I include something along those lines in my profile??

Thanks for your input!

I just finished rewriting my profile after reading the suggestions in the forums. Now I wonder: is it too short? or just short and sweet? I would appreciate any feedback you can give me... on length or content.

Thanks bunches!

why does it suck trying to find someone decent in Arkansas?
Posted: 6/28/2009 1:44:17 PM
It may not be so much having "too high of standards for just meeting someone." Finding time can be a problem as a more mature person with kids and/or other responsibilities. So if we don't think we are going to click with a guy, we may not be as eager to try to set up a meeting. BUT I think that could be a mistake. Sometimes people are a lot different in person than I expect them to be (sometimes better, sometimes worse... lol). That's why I think it's great to have the POF events and hope we have more in the northeast part of the state.....

It was nice to meet everyone at the party. Thanks to Kevin and Shebbie for hosting. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of more local events for this area....

Hey Kevin and Shebbie, I apologize for the wishy-washy-ness of my sign-up status... but I am planning to attend. I think it's great to finally be having an event like this in Jonesboro!!! Hopefully a lot of the local members will get involved and it won't be a one-time thing. If I can help in any way, just holler at me!

Hi Chuck, Well, I guess that explains why I sometimes feel like the only unattached person in Northeast Arkansas... maybe I am!!

I'll see what kind of arrangements I can make (aka see if I can twist any arms ) and hopefully know something tomorrow.
